The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has issued a directive to oil marketers to cease the importation of petrol, asserting that the Dangote Refinery possesses sufficient capacity to meet domestic demand. https://businessday.ng/news/article/nnpc-directs-marketers-to-cease-petrol-imports-cites-dangote-refinery-capacity/ 4 Likes

“Paying upfront significantly increases financial pressure on marketers, particularly those with limited capital. For decades, we’ve operated on a post-delivery payment model, which aligns better with our liquidity cycles.” This could be part of the main reasons why IPMAN is resisting Dangote Refinery. NNPCL is part owner of Dangote Refinery. There's no reason why it will not support patronage of Dangote Refinery. Once this takes off fully, the $1.8 billion shipped overseas in about a month will be conserved. 33 Likes 3 Shares |

This should have been done weeks ago. There's no need to import if Dangote can take care of our fuel needs. Close to $2b was spent on importing fuel between October 1 and November 4, this is one of the reason the naira is losing value 30 Likes 3 Shares |

Dangote better derisk his business and focus on exports. NNPC is my serious. Tomorrow, they’ll allow imports again. A $20B business cannot work under such inconsistencies. 6 Likes 1 Share |

I thought Dangote was bragging that foreign countries were fighting for his products. And that he doesn't need the Nigerian market to sell. Why the panic now? FreeStuffsNG: 3 Likes 1 Share |

Will soon be denied. Modified: There's your caveat 👇 NNPC emphasised that going forward, no marketer would be permitted to import petrol without specific clearance tied to Dangote’s capacity. |
