Very well articulated, practical is key.

You made good points though. I agree that a maintenance supervisor doesn't always require a degree - but to climb the career ladder i.e to Maintenance manager, up to technical Manager/ director, a higher education More often than not would be preferred.
It still boils down to lack of industrial exposure.... Fluid Mechanics, for example has great applications in aerospace, naval, automotive, hydroelectric sectors, etc. So a fresh graduate that "crams" Navier-Stokes applications would ideally have somewhere to gain and contribute practically (especially in R & D and Design ). But that's not the Case here.

All you have to do is state you are too lazy to do your own research and I will help you out. Admit your laziness for all to see so you can be helped.

that still leaves the questions unanswered.

is asking you the following not research? yes or no

since you have read these educational materials, I dont see anywhere in your comments that shows that you have a very good understanding and knowledge about how society works or is stratified.

can you share what you read in those educational materials?

True, to climb through the ranks the degrees/certs becomes relevant. Smart graduates can always gain experience if they're serious in the field. I don't know of companies involved in R & D except for the multinationals even though it used often by many companies. Feedback and suggestions are not R & D. Many of the Engineering companies have foreign technical partners or PhDs working for them. Point Engineering, Ponticelli, Candix, Precision and many others that I engaged.
To grow in the industry, you need to roll off your sleeves and get dirty. Once you gain the experience, you'll be in a position to contribute/critique designs.

That is a crude way of putting it, but Oshiomole is right. To industrialise, Nigeria needs more technical work force.

However, the socio-economic conditions and value system in nigeria does not give proper dignity and reward to such jobs, except on few occasions.

They are not adequately rewarded, their services are well appreciated elsewhere

fmr governor obaseki was thinking in dt line

The govt has to pass a law making it compulsory for private secondary sch to start offering vocational subjects which is in the waec syllabus

Then there need for a third tertiary institutions which is vocational sch.

Eg vocational school for computer repair, mobile phone repair they partner with the manufacturer to help with creating a student friendly practical textbook nd also one to retrain the teachers nd guide them on awarding marks for exam nd text with such Nigeria youth will be better of

because bad education model ( theory model) is number one thing pushing Nigeria backwards

Oshomole is really a visionless leader, what he crying about are the gaps Obaseki forecasted into the future hence he decided to revamp technical schools in Edo state.
Just hearing Oshomole say this is really disheartening. His governor is going around dashing those dreams.

Correct. But do you think your job is scarce in Nigeria compared to design and manufacturing?
No not at all, it's actually also basically designing and manufacturing in the real essence.

Truth is majority of Nigerian graduate's and youths frown at most artisan job's, Yahoo(internet fraudsters) made it a whole different game with a harder stage

Bash him all you like, he spoke the raw truth.
It's high time we all talk about acquiring technical skills. Each year, graduates are released into the labour market where there are no jobs.

How many people retire every year? Compare the number of retirements with the number of graduates each year, you will understand the mess we are in.

Yeah, I'm talking out of experience. Unless u are able to establish urself, or u are working in an organization whereby u can do illegal business and make more money, that's the only way u can enjoy being an artisan in Nigeria. But if u can't establish urself and u can't get an organization whereby u can do illegal things to make more money, u see that 95 percent companies in Nigeria ( most especially in Lagos and Ogun State), they will make u regret ur life why u ever took such step of being an artisans. The government establishments are even manageable because even if they don't pay artisans well, they don't put much work load on them and there are chances of any of them to grow higher in the work if he/she is a graduate.

It was not meaningful or impactful to you because you you already had a preconceived notion or opinion, which you are entitled to. You need to stop trying to throw your weight around when you cannot grasp or understand a comment.

It is important to understand the context of an ongoing discussion before you make input. Something led to that statement which I had to further clarify to the person that he was digressing.

That something is not the norm does not make it relevant or applicable.

Yes.

In fact most universities now incorporate vocational students in their curriculum. In Polytechnics, it is compulsory and they have centres dedicated to instructing on vocational studies and skills development.
