Considering how basic foods have become so expensive for the common man, I was wondering if people can still afford to eat their favourite meals, or do they just make do with what they can afford/what is available.

It is unfortunate how bad the situation has gotten.

I don't think things have ever been this difficult for the common man, to the point of not being able to afford common foods.

With that stated, what are your favourite meals, and can you still afford to eat them?

Spend close to 350k monthly on food alone for 2 adults and that's cos I don't eat out. Only occasion go to the lounge twice a month.
Groundnut oil 16 to 18k for 5 litres freely 2.5k to 4k
Palm oil 9k for 5 litres
Sugar 1kg 2900
Rice 115k per bag
Beans 12000 measurement
Garri 12 to 15k measurement
Milk 10000
Yam like 8 tubers 4500 each 36000
Gas 12.5kg can last 2 to 3 months 1500/kg 18750
Nepa not paying till like 5 months time currently have 2000kwh
Not paying rent
Mayonnaise 4000

Eggs 6500 to 7000 per crate
Sausages like 5 packs 2500/piece
Noodles now 8000+
Spag 22k per pack of 20 pieces can last 2 to 2.5 month
Other provisions/spices can last months..horlicks..milo..coffee...lipton like tea...butter

Dey play. I remember while growing up paint of Garri is less than 70 many house hold could not afford it Dey buy cups or derica. Am talking of more than 3 decades ago to the best of knowledge. Make una no dey talk like say all this na today. Infact people can afford basic things now than then regardless.

Yes and no. Not to my former satisfaction and taste. I love eating good and succulent local and foreign fish, but now they are almost too expensive to buy, except once in a while.

Vegetable and fufu is cool be me.Remove cost of feeding and transportation salary don finish.I never reason other miscellaneous expenses.To make matters worst cost of alcohol has drastically gone up.make e continue dey increase,God answers prayers in strange ways.

First there are different types of beans. Honey beans is top of the shelf and there’s no where in Lagos at this time that you’ll find it for 1800. Honey beans in bought just yesterday a derica for 3k.
