Merry Christmas to all on Nairaland!!

In response to the murder today of so many innocent lives in our country I thought it would be a nice thing to give prayer to the departed souls.

Today is marked as a holy day, the day on which Jesus (AS) was born by Mary (AS).  It is not just a day to celebrate birthday but also a joyous one in which to celebrate motherhood and life.  A child born into a household is also a birth into the community, and so it is equally a day of merriment and celebration for the community.  Today should not be a day of mourning for the community,  some members of this big family of NL are touched by the carnage carried out in churches and localities in the North by Boko Haram, with these members we join in grieving for the dead.

May Almighty GOD not put on us a burden greater than we have the strength to bear.  Boko Haram is a big burden to our society! To all the mothers out there whose spirit is sunken today,. . . . . . I ask that the spirit of the Holy Mother, Mary (AS), be with you and console your heart.  From GOD we all come and unto Him is our return.  On the day when her son, the one whose birthday we celebrate today, was nailed to the cross for execution, we can imagine the pain and pangs in Mary's heart.

I call upon you all in this community to join in spirit and with your voice to say AMEN to the prayer offered here in memory of the fathers, mothers, sons and daughters bombed to death as they sat in temples singing praise and rejoicing in the Holy birth of Jesus Christ (AS).  They were on sacred ground performing sacred worship, they had not killed or waged a war against Boko Haram.  So what could be the reason for their execution?  Allah said in the Holy Quran and Prophet Muhammad repeated in the Hadith traditions as well, that the place of worship is a sacred ground, let no one violate the sanctity therein.

Below is Sura Al Mulk (The Sovereingty), it is a ritual prayer that we use in Islam to pray upon departed souls.  Islam is as connected and interwoven with christianity as life itself is inextricably interlinked with death.  Boko Haram are unbelievers, kaffirs. . . . may the wrath of Almighty Allah descend upon them.  In this prayer the attributes pf the elements are emphasized. . . . .we ask the elements of fire, earth, air and water to visit vengeance on Boko Haram.

Turning to the four points of the cosmos,  fire to the north (the element of the white consciousness),  air to the east  (the element of the yellow consciousness), water to the south (the element of the black consciousness) and earth to the west (the element of the red consciousness). . . . . we ask that cosmic consciousness war against the elements of the Boko Haram consciousness, may darkness descend upon them, may plague visit upon them, may pestilence live in their abode and may their roots dry up and wither.

In the Name of Allah, Most Beneficient, Most Merciful.

1. Blessed is He in whose hand is the dominion , and He is able to do all things.

2. Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the AllMighty, the OftForgiving.

3. Who has created the seven heavens one above another, you can see no fault in in the creations of the Most Beneficient. Then look again:can you see any rifts?

4. Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out.

5. And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and We have made such lamps as missiles to drive away the devils, and have prepared for them the torment of the blazing fire.

6. And for those who disbelieve in their Lord is the torment of Hell, and worst indeed is that destination.

7. When they are cast therein, they will hear the terrible drawing in of its breath as it blazes forth.

8. It almost bursts up with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask:did no warner  come to you.

9. They will say: yes indeed, a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: Allah never sent down anything, you are only in great error.

10. And they will say: had we but listened or used our intelligence, we would not have been among the dwellers of the blazing fire.

11. Then they will confess their sin. So, away with the dwellers of the blazing fire.

12. Verily! Those who fear their Lord unseen, theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward .

13. And whether you keep your talk secret or disclose it, verily, He is the AllKnower of what is in the breasts of men.

14. Should not He who has created know?  And He is the Most kind and courteous, AllAware of everything/

15. He it is, who has made the earth subservient to you, so walk in the path thereof and eat of his provision, and to Him will be the resurrection.

16. Do you feel secure that He, who is over the heaven will not cause the earth to sink with you, then behold it shakes?

17. Or do you feel secure that He who is over the heaven will not send against you a violent whirlwind?  Then you shall know how terrible has been My warning? And indeed those before them belied the Messengers of Allah, then how terrible was My punishment?

19. Do they not see the birds above them, spreading out their wings and folding them in? None upholds them except the Most Beneficient Allah. Verily, He is the AllSeer of everything.

20. Who is he besides the Most Beneficient that can be an army onto you to help you?  The disbelievers are in nothing but delusion.

21. Who is it that can provide for you if He should withold His provision? Nay, but they continue to be in pride, and they flee from the truth.

22. Is he who walks without seeing on his face more rightly guided, or he who sees and walks on a straight way?

23. Say it is He who has created you, and endowed you with hearing, seeing and hearts, little thanks you give.

24. Say: it is He who has created you from the earth, and to Him shall you be gathered in the hereafter.

25. They say when will this promise come to pass? If you are telling the truth.

26. Say: the knowledge is with Allah only, and I am only a plain warner.

27. But when they will see the torment on the day of resurrection approaching, the faces of those who disbelieve will be different, and it will be said to them: this is the promise which you were calling for!

28. Say: tell me, if Allah destroys me, and those with me, or He bestows His Mercy on us, who can save the disbelievers from a painful torment?

29. Say He is the Most Beneficient, in Him we believe and in Him we put our trust. So you will come to know who is it that is in manifest error.

30. Say: tell me, if all your water were to be sunk away, who then can supply you with flowing water?

May the souls of the victims of Boko Haram rest in peace and may Almighty GOD make earth a resting abode for them.  May GOD be with the living and may the spirit of the Beloved come alive in our hearts, AMEN!
