You guys have no clue what’s happening. Trump doesn’t want affordable healthcare for Americans. Biden signed a bill to make diabetic medication $35 for old people on Medicare. Trump has just signed a bill to override. Republicans have always stood against the affordable care act that gave low income people access to health insurance. Trump wants to cut down every single expense that helps anyone who is low income in or out of America and give it to his billionaire friends in subsidies and tax cuts. You guys are so misinformed it’s heartbreaking to see you actually believe this hosemujica: 3 Likes |

Not only will spread, it Will mutate. Then the medication that other countries have to fight it will become ineffective against the new strains. Those strains can then enter the USA and infect people here. Even though we have the meds, it will be useless to us This is what happens when you people support brainless bullies to get to power. They don’t stop to think of the after. They just go on emotional destructive behavior like a bull in a glass store. chopnaira: 4 Likes 2 Shares |

JuanDeDios: Trump is less than a month in power. You and I would have to patiently wait to observe the ripples of his decisions before we conclude whether he is worsening the situation of poor Americans. Giving remains an act of benevolence, not obligation. Glad we both agree on this. Any day my helper decides not to help me any further, rather than cast blames at him, I'd thank him for the years he has helped me, and probably hate myself for not working my way out of a being in need of his aid. And, no, I am not rich; whether I help others or not is far from our current discussion. And while we are making moral arguments out of a giver's decision to discontinue in his act of benevolence, we should note that we would be found guilty in the same moral compass - feeling entitled doesn't sound like a good moral endeavour. About the proportion narrative, you are perfectly correct here...it's biblical, as a matter of fact. But let's look at effects, outcomes, or impacts. If by the law of proportion America gives way more than others, this still proves the fact that they are mostly responsible for the positive outcomes end-countries experience; so, they still do more work. By the way, if we go the proportion way, shouldn't China (to be fair, let's not consider India) be a bigger/better giver? As I see it, quoting morality is an attempt to emotionally blackmail Trump and his country, and this is entirely unfair. I still maintain that for the years of good America has done, they should be forever appreciated....even if they decide to re-strategize their expenditure with hopes of prioritizing their citizens. |

cococandy:If this was the case, how come Americans, up to 63% electoral votes went to him? They wanted to spite the Kamala? They didn't trust the Biden-Harris continuing administration? They were blinded by the inflation last year, and assumed Trump would solve it despite this? They hated Biden news carrying that he's aiding Israel? Which was it? You live in America? How come the Trump got massive votes despite this your claim, or they didn't know? I'm only curious. |

He rigged it. Democrats don’t want to talk about it because they don’t want to found like coo coo republicans who are known election deniers. But he’s bragged about it and Elon has bragged about it. The rest of those who ACTUALLY voted for him are ignorant. They’re crying now because they’re googling the meaning of what they voted and they want to reverse their votes. All people like me have to do is sit and watch them learn. 🤷🏽♀️ OneOnland: 2 Likes |

For this act, Trump should reverse that decree, the funding has being helpful almost all the people living with HIV who so wished to, had all benefited from this programme and it is working fine, even though there is serious corruption going on there, I know the reason why he want to halt the support for this programme. Trump believed that a country like Nigeria is able to fund the programm to the fullest but couldn't care because they are getting help from America government, my advice to Trump is, he should strategies the programm instead of halting it, for the sake of precious lives in the developing countries, he should know that Nigeria government doesn't care who dies as far as it doesn't concerns them, off they don't care about safety and security of the citizens, talk less of people living with HIV, please Mr Trump reverse that decision please!! |
Re: Trump Halts HIV Funding For Nigeria by Olurondo: 3:59pm On Jan 28 |
Very good. This implies that NGOs in Nigeria who receive funding from US for HIV prevention and treatment will lay off and sack many of their employees. When some nigerians were rejoicing that Trump was re-elected,they don't know it will be at the own peril!! 1 Like |

TONYE001: Trump’s policy thrust involves tax cuts and tariff hikes. The effect on the poor is fairly predictable. To expect otherwise is to HOPE. Which is fine. China has made huge progress, but no, they’re still not nearly as rich as the US. But I agree they too are paying proportionally far less than they should be doing and the Americans are right to call them out. There will always be people who, through no fault of theirs, are too weak to help themselves. That's why we make moral arguments. I hope you realise you can also easily be accused of using emotional blackmail to get people to ‘leave Trump alone’? Yes, the poor should hustle and stop being dependent. But we know it’s not that simple. You pray not to be poor, but the poor will always be here. I’ve actually taken time to listen to homeless people in rich countries – you’d be surprised what you hear. There are lazy people who are poor. But there are people who aren’t lazy, perfectly normal, hardworking people who are poor. Sometimes, all it takes is one or two tragedies away - kidney dialysis, glaucoma, a fire incident, and you're out in the streets. Remember who we’re taking about here – sick people. The world is what it is. |

JuanDeDios: How exactly can I be accused of emotional blackmail? I don't see how though. Again, true, there are poor people on the streets. In fact, one doesn't necessarily need to be poor to be in need. Rich people run into needs too, sometimes needs that money can't sort out. But, again, helpers are entirely free to choose whether or not to act in that capacity. There is no blame existing anywhere in the world to cast at them...especially when they have been helping for decades. My natural reaction to the news of America's withdrawal as we've all read here is deep sadness. I do feel for those that will be directly or indirectly affect (note that WE ALL will be affected, directly or indirectly). But, I had to establish objectivity; these guys have done a whoooooolllleee lot for us and other nations like us. I surely cannot blame them for their decision. Nope. May I not stand any day to throw blames at anyone that once helped me in the past...yeah, it's how I see it. What is even more annoying is that if our leaders were serious, we would most likely be able to cater for our PLHIVs. It's just a matter of proper planning and honesty; these ingredients, sadly, are lacking in the heads of our politicians. We are not like any other nation that may be truly unable to cater for their PLHIVs. May God help us all. |

SalamRushdie: Still makes me nervous When bush started pepfar it used to cover the whole range of treatments for hiv positive patients. Not just arv. Starting with Obama, cuts began. Now it's just arv. So, you better not defend any pausing. Obama made a lot of things difficult for HIV patients. Trump should not join him. I have worked in clinical care for hiv patients and still do. That's why I am not amused by any pausing. People are in pain 4 Likes |
