The secretary to the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria in Education, on Wednesday said the government of Nigeria invested about N254 million in scholarships to a number of indigent Nigerians totaling 22,393 the recent past year.

The secretary, Usman Kabir, who spoke during the flag-off of the award renewal programme for the 2010/2011  set of scholarship students under the national government urged pupils and students beneficiaries to justify the huge investment made by government on them, by using the money for the purpose it is meant for as well as excelling in their courses of academic pursuit.

Elaborating on the scholarship award, qualification requirements and eligibility, Mimiko Danjuma Habakuk, who is also the director of scholarship board in the FCT (Nigeria) explained that the scholarship is meant for indigents who have secured university admission in a recognized institution home or abroad.
