afrodoc2: This is the best passing performance i can recall from a Manchester United side. team pass accuracy of 91 percent!
Things are looking better especially in midfield.
But we should not get too carried away,QPR are a very very poor side......much still needs to be done
True that buh doesn't rub off that fact the performance was okay .... against burnley & swansea we were shyte

Shaw has to fight for his place, I don't care how much he cost. he'll get his chances definitely & I have no doubt he'll make it count; it will be a shame & an embarrassment to his career if he's warming the bench against players that cost considerably less than him.
The good news however, is that Blackett is fighting real hard to keep a spot, & so will Rojo & Shaw. they are in direct competition, there's still a Blind option as well.
this can only do the team good. I wish an equal competition was on the right side as well.
play well or fall to the bench; this is Manchester United!

let's not also forget this is the first time some of our signings are playing in a red shirt. chelsea & city are fluent because 99% of their players had full preseasons together......they have had 5-7 games to fine-tune themselves into shape.

until today, herrera never played with blind & rojo didn't know who blackett or evans is. with time, we go gel but there's no excuse not to win the next 3-4 games before we start facing the big teams.

i doubt carrick will get into this team again - he's too slow for what van gaal requires unless we play blind as a left back & we use the double-pivot of carrick & herrera.
Maybe drop Mata for him; pair him with Blind when we play top teams to help this our shaky defence until we find a midfielder with a physical presence.

i think there will be snail-speed football from that pairing, just like Fellaini and Carrick

Mata completed 98% of his passes in opposition half cool cool cool
Blind attempted 112 passes today with a completion success rate of 95%, attempting the fifth most passes in the Premier League this season. The midfielder won over 50% of his aerial duels and tackles, as well as making two interceptions, three clearances and one block, one shot on target from distance which almost led to Radamel Falcao’s first goal for his new club.

Impressive stats from Blind there.

Don't worry about Matas stats. He only passes ball against small teams that offer no resistance.

The key to the change of shape was the introduction of Daley Blind as a holding midfielder. Whether you describe him as a midfielder who can play in defence, or a defender who can play in midfielder, his tactical understanding of the game brings stability to United’s midfield. His versatility allowed for the swift transition from defence to attack because he was protecting the two centre backs which allowed the forward players to roam, interchange and express themselves without leaving Evans and Blackett exposed. His ability to play in defensive positions meant that United could essentially play with a back three of Blackett, Blind and Evans while both Rojo and Rafael were left free to attack in the wide areas.

Rio Ferdy bashing Moyes grin

*.Rio Ferdinand reveals that David Moyes' Manchester United reign was 'embarrassing' for the players to witness

*.Former England defender does not believe Moyes' mentality suited United

*.Ferdinand says Moyes 'unintentionally' created 'a negative vibe'

Playing under David Moyes brought about embarrassment for Rio Ferdinand, who has revealed the former manager slowly lost the dressing room.

In an explosive autobiography - #2Sides - serialised in The Sun, Ferdinand laid bare the difficulties United endured during a turbulent season that undermined the foundations built over two decades.

And the central defender, who was allowed to leave Old Trafford on the Scot’s say-so, felt Moyes’ mentality wasn’t befitting of the club’s stature.

‘He tried to impose a vision but never seemed to be completely clear what that vision should be,’ Ferdinand writes. ‘Unintentionally, he created a negative vibe where, with Fergie, it had always been positive.’

Ferdinand’s main grievance was the way in which Moyes went about trying to win games – stark contrast to the free-flowing, attractive style with which Louis van Gaal is beginning to implement again. The now Queens Park Rangers man saw that to his cost on Sunday as Unitedran out comfortable 4-0 winners.

‘He’d slowly lost us. I didn’t enjoy playing under him. Sometimes our main tactic was the long, high, diagonal cross. grin It was embarrassing,’ Ferdinand added.

‘Moyes’s innovations led to negativity and confusion. It was always how to stop the other side. Moyes set us up not to lose. We’d been accustomed to playing to win.’

Ferdinand also cited Moyes's decision to prevent United's players from indulging in chips as a big grievance among the players.

The former England captain insists that the players always ate low-fat chips on the night before a game under Ferguson's rule. 'We loved our chips,' he writes.

But Moyes banned the food after just a week in charge at United leaving the squad 'p***** off.'

Ferdinand highlights Javier Hernandez as one player who felt especially put out by Moyes's management.

The Mexican was 'happy for three years', according to Ferdinand, benefitting from Fergie's arm around his shoulder.

But Moyes's different man-management techniques meant Hernandez's confidence ebbed away, says Ferdinand.

Moyes was sacked shortly after United's Champions League exit to Bayern Munich last April, and Ferdinand says the squad's preparation for that game 'seemed wrong'.

United were taken to a public park to practice set pieces, claims Ferdinand, in a decision he brands 'bizarre'. shocked cheesy

Has there ever been a debate of Rafael vs Valencia on this thread? They don't play same position. The only position they could possibly have clashed is the wingback.

* Are you guys still expecting Strootman or Vidal even though Woodward has since ruled out any significant spending in January? .......With United monitoring development at Madrid about CR7, there's need to be conservative in January. Although Mourinho has now ruled out any Chelsea move. That will help to keep the price reasonable.

*Some demonstration of football artistry by Manchester United yesterday. Had it not been for poor final decisions, it could have easily been 7-0 or more and with all our forwards on the score sheet.

* Interesting: Gaal and Mata said Di Maria's goals was something brought from the training.

* With Rafael in his element, it won't be wise to go back to three defenders formation.

* Everyone is suddenly playing well. If everyone stays fit, it will be interesting to see how Gaal keeps all of Di Maria, Falcao, Rooney, RVP and Mata happy. No thanks to no UCL actions and Captital1 premature exit.

* The defense is a worry. You cannot afford to play like that against Everton or Chelsea. They will cancel out your goals and make your possession meaningless.

* Our next fixture is against a team that play with power and aggression. That will be a good opportunity to assess how much we have arrived.

Hope rising......

Comfortable win at last! It made my weekend complete. Seven points off the pace, not insurmountable at all, just four games out of thirty-six or is it thirty-eight!
I like the urgency and desire to attack, although I didn't fancy the missed chances and the reduced pace after the fourth goal. It didn't help Falcao's debut at all.

The key match of this season will be us against
Chelsea at the end of October at OT. If we can
get on a run now, get the confidence up and win
that match against Chelsea, I would have to
say we will be in with a shout for the title.
That’s off course if we remain relatively injury
free. There is just too much talent on the park
not to be challenging. Daley blind what a
player, Herrera will be one of the worlds best in
a few years, hopefully he doesn’t want to use us
a stepping stone to get back to Spain’s big 2.
It’s all about getting the fear factor back, QPR
would have been stood in that tunnel shitting
their pants yesterday looking across at that
united team and that’s the way it should be.
That was one of the problems last year, teams
played with no fear against us. Call me stupid
if you want but one or 2more quality signings
and there won’t be many better teams in Europe
than united. Ladies and gentlemen we are on
the brink of something special here.

Was also delighted with Rafael’s performance…
i have said time and again if the boy stays fit
he def has a chance to being best right back in
the world.
Herrera and Blind look to have been made for
each other and you could see the trust the
forward lane had in the midfield hence Rooney
playing than we have seen for while.
The young man Blackett at this rate will be the
discovery of the season.
I am just surprised no one noticed that Perreira
made the bench too!
