"Manchester United and Everton are the only clubs I have played for as a professional footballer," the United captain said, according to ESPN . "I am happy to say now that, whatever may happen in the future, I will never play for another Premier League club.

"I owe United and Everton everything for giving me my footballing opportunities. Everton and United, along with my family, gave me the support and opportunity to help me achieve my goals and dreams."

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he cannot wait to start working with Michael Carrick after the veteran midfielder signed a one-year contract extension with the Red Devils on Thursday afternoon.

And newly appointed United boss Mourinho admits that he was thrilled to be able to tie Carrick down to a new contract at Old Trafford.

Speaking to United’s website, Mourinho said: “Michael is a very intelligent midfielder and a great reader of the game.

“I am pleased that he will be extending his contract. His form this year shows his ability and his enjoyment of the game are as strong as ever.

“Michael has a wealth of experience from his many years at the club and that knowledge will be invaluable to me. I am really looking forward to working with him.”

Paul Pogba has admitted that he doesn’t regret leaving Manchester United after falling out with former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, with the club now facing the prospect of paying up to €100m [£78.1m] to sign a player who left them for just £800,000.

United though are in the market for Pogba and Jose Mourinho believes he can build his new team around a character like the Frenchman, who has displayed huge levels of confidence as well as the talent to match it. That confidence was seen as early as when he was 19 years old, when Pogba told Ferguson that he would be leaving United despite the legendary manager wanting to keep hold of the teenager.

“He's a coach I respect a lot, but he's a human. I'm someone who says what he thinks. Whether it's Ferguson or Obama, I'll tell him.

“Ferguson came to my place. We talked. It did make me think. He wanted to keep me, but I'd made my decision to leave.

"With them you train to the end, up to perfection, because Paul Scholes – despite his age – was still there at the end of practice, hitting long passes, shots. He didn't miss one. When you're there, you have to adapt fast. I like that – always challenges.

Sir Alex Ferguson reduced Paul Pogba to tears during the French midfielder’s time at Manchester United, according to the player’s mother.

Having joined United’s academy from Le Havre in controversial circumstances in 2009, Pogba failed to break into the first-team squad at Old Trafford and consequently decided to move on.

His mother Yeo Moriba has now revealed details of the final stages of his Premier League career – ranging from Ferguson’s last ditch attempts to keep Pogba at Old Trafford to the harsh treatment that followed.

Moriba told Associated French Press: “I said, ‘What? Ferguson coming to my house! He came alone’

"We had got together with his brothers and we decided: he won’t re-sign.

“Ferguson punished him, he didn’t play him, Paul was alone. He even cried in Ferguson’s office over the way he was treated.

"Nowadays you'd have to say I know a bit about football, you can't fool me, I'm asked for advice, that's all. All three (sons) respect me, and they listen to me."

I like his kind of football. It's so unique. Wish we had him last season on the right side and Martial on the left.

Now that I've been off the ban by Mukina, I can say that I've not been impressed with the names we're getting linked with, especially in the area of the midfield.
Gomes? Matic? Even Pogba?
None of them are capable of controlling the tempo of games or even creative enough.
Gomes is Herrera make 11 in the sense that he's inconsistent with his erratic techniques and passing skills nor visionary. Pogba has all the flairs in this world but more of an offensive box-box midfielder who takes the midfield to another level with his flairs and energy but would need someone building up and dictating the play alongside him and I hope we aint banking on Rooney to operate as a playmaker.
Since Rooney would be a mainstay in the team, I think the box-box role should be given to him. As a matter fact, Rooney can offer what Pogba brings in that role although it wouldn't be of the same quality level. All he needs to do as an offensive box-box CM is to join the attack, make runs to create space and contribute his defensive quota which he can do quite well.
I really would have loved Pjanic for that creative playmaking role but it seems impossible now that Juve have him in bags.
It would also be stupid of Mourinho if he let go Blind because he's a player capable of playing different role without any drop in the quality. I don't even support the signing of an out of form player in Matic who had only 6 good month in the Epl before he got found out.
Personally, I think we should opt for a player with well rounded technique, passing range, reading of the game and tactical discipline for the holding role and the only player I could think of is Weigl who's unavailable. More reason why Blind shouldn't be let go just because we've found a new shining toy in Matic.
I would also love if we could take a punt on Oliver Torres as a loan with the option to buy. The guy has a high potential and already operates at a high level if only his Coach, Simeone would use him right and deploy him in the middle and not on the wing.
His performance while on loan at Porto against Bayern in the CL was something else. He dominated Bayern midfield like a pro. And I could recall him being the best player on the pitch against France at the U20 where he dominated and outclassed Pogba in the central midfield.
Even today, Porto fans still rave about him. I think he needs a coach who can trust him in the middle and allow him to do his magic as opposed to the defensive Simeone who would rather deploy him on the wing. He could well be our Coman who was not allowed to thrive at Juve but became a revelation at Bayern.
As For Baily, I know nothing about him but any signing over the overhyped Stones is welcome by me.
O boy have you forgotten that your coach is Mourinho, Jose Mourinho? Mr 007.

He does not do creativity. He does strength- black strength.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Spy360(m): 5:17pm On Jun 09, 2016
Diademk07:

He's also a box-box CM, quite similar to Vidal.
Furthermore, he's just signed a new contract.
What we need in the team is just simple.
A playmaker, holding midfielder and a right winger.
Personally, I think Kante would be a better signing than Matic. So far, he's operated in the holding role fro the french team and has looked great in it. Although, he doesn't have the passing range but his reading of the game, agility, tactical discipline and vision (accurate vertical passing) makes him a good option in the holding midfield role than Matic who look likes an immobile uncreative lump of wood.
My playmaaker option would be Pjanic, Verrati or Torres. As a matter of fact, if we are ready to splash 78mil on a midfielder, we should do that on Verratti and not Pogba because box-box players yapa full everywhere as opposed to orchestrating playmakers.
My wing option would be Sadio Mane for his lightening speed. Mahrez is also a good shout but not as lightening as Mane. I'm not impressed by Sane though. You got to watch his performance against Bayern. He looked so awful with his touches and decision making. He seems to solely rely on his pace which was well matched by Alaba's pace in that match, hence, his pathetic display.
I haven't seen much of Ounas but will try to get acquainted with his clips on Youtube but the talk about him haven't been impressive.
My first option was Dembele who's been snapped up by Dortmund but would settle for Mane.
Good points.

Correction: Marco Veratti is a box to box CM. Thanks.

Nope!
Verratti is a playmaking no 8. Similar to the likes of Xavi, Modric, Pjanic etc.
They don't sit back as no 6 playmakers (Alonso, Pirlo et al) do however, they all do the same job which is, orchestrating the play and pulling the strings in the midfield.

The kind of players we are signing and linked to already show the kind of football we are going to play going forward. We just have to move our minds beyond Fergie's style once and for all.

Dont tell me you were expecting a display of flowing possesion based attacking football after hiring Mourinho

Bros stop using this old school numbering jare.... (no 8, no 6 etc....) it can be confusing. In some school of thought no 5 and no 6 are the centre backs and in some other no 4 and no 5 are the centre backs. Same goes for no 4 and no 6 which are used by different systems as the defensive midfielder.

You are right about Veratti though, he is similar to Xavi, Modric (at Madrid) and Pjanic. They can be described as deep-lying playmakers.

Pure, Gung-ho attacking football died with the retirement of Sir Alex, he actually stopped playing it after series of disappointing results in the UCL between 2000 and 2006 and Mourinho's coming to the EPL . Football became extremely technical, you either compact the midfield (origin of the 4-3-3), play deep and hit your opponents on the counter or starve your opponent of possession and seek those perfect passes to break them down (Pep's bayern and Baca's tiki taka). From my observation there is no "absolute" attacking style in football anymore.

I know they are deeplying playmakers, I was just trying to differentiate their style of play from the likes of Pirlo, Alonso, Carrick under Van gaal etc, who all tend to sit back.

Funny enough, I think Verrati, Pjanic, Modric, Alonso, Xavi and Carrick are all deep-lying playmakers. Sometimes the system in which they play makes it look like they operate in different roles.

I checked out Sergio Torres again after you mentioned him (saw him in the U20 worldcup and on loan at Porto some few times), He has the mold of an playmaker (no 10...lol) than a conventional central midfielder. He likes to hit the perfect pass and also control the tempo of the game with some slick touches.

I really think we should go for Ounas. I am sure he would be a revelation in the Epl. Dude is naturally talented. As for the MD, I'd choose Kante over Pogba anyday anytime. Get Kante and another creative midfielder.

I still have hope that he would bring in a technical playmaker although I may be wrong.
He's always had at least one playmaker either as a no 10 or in the central midfield. The likes of Fabregas, Ozil + Alonso, Deco, Sneidjer + Motta were players that made his midfield to be quite inventive which is really lacking in our midfield.

Zlatan to United is a done deal, according to Skysports he wants to get a loyalty bonus of about 4M euros after his contract with PSG has offically ended by 1 July 2016. So we should announce his signing by the first week of July.

Concerning the right winger position what do you think about giving Januzaj and Lingard extensive playing time instead of paying 30M+ on talented players or ninjas that are not better than Nani. I would have preferred Dembele that was snapped up early by Dortmund.

I think a 3-man midfield is what best suit him like he played at the u20.
Most of his touches in the game against France were in front of the defence. He was the one who always start their transition from defence to attack after receiving a pass from either his defenders or his DM. At times, he went on a mazy runs in the final third but his touches were mostly in the deep midfield.
As per those playmakers, no doubt their job are the same but they go about it in different ways. I think those playmakers (Alonso, Pirlo) who operate deep in front of the defence also have to be positionally sound, and must have great tactical awareness to be able to read the game quite well. There's a reason why Kroos couldn't operate well in 'Alonso' role for Madrid. His best performance till date was as a mobile playmaker in a 3-man midfield for Bayern and Germany at the worldcup.

I know Bernando Silva is a great technician but quite unproductive as a No 10.
I don't know much about the other two but I guess they play in the attacking third.
However, what the team actually need is a visionary playmaker who's capable of pulling the string in the heart of our midfield and a productive right winger.
I doubt any of them fit the description.

Have to say the Ounas lad looks good. He looks small though but I like what I saw.
Fantastic technique, agility, pace, awareness and lovely crossing to boot although he will need to work on his finishing.
