Now talk had shifted to AIG, I have noticed that he has been steDily buying up wapic insurance shares at sub #1 mostly below 50k What could he be up to |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 3:32pm On Nov 29, 2020 |
emmanuelewumi: Now, you agree that AIG is not the current chairman of Coronation Merchant Bank. One more thing to correct Sir, I figured AIG is also not the current chairman of Coronation Insurance PLC. It is Mutiu Sunmonu. AIG retired as the board chairman of Coronation Insurance Plc (formerly Wapic Insurance Plc) earlier this year. |

tnota: He just stepped down, I guess he just stepped as the chairman of Coronation Merchant Bank also. As at the AGM of WAPIC insurance now Coronation Insurance in 2019, he was the chairman of the company. I won't be surprised if he is appointed as the chairman of Access in 2021 1 Like |

emmanuelewumi: No Sir. Tunde Folawiyo has been the chairman of coronation merchant bank as far back as 2015. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 3:49pm On Nov 29, 2020 |
maishai:This is old. And it must have been connected to the rights issue by WAPIC to raise funds to recapitalize as mandated by NAICOM. Maybe it was him just trying to maintain his majority shares and control of the company after the rights issue. Who knows. By the way, WAPIC is now Coronation Insurance. |

lavylilly: Business is ruthless, business only give back to the society through community and social responsibility. Non for profit organization can decide to be very kind. Indians must be doing something right and have certain values for them to have all these high profile jobs as CEOs of the listed global brands and building family businesses that have been operating for close to 100 years in Nigeria and the businesses are growing from generation to generation. 6 Likes

If you want to know and understand why Indians are preferred to head big businesses and corporations around the world, try to learn more about HINDUISM their main religion. In Hinduism, truth and honesty is timeless, infinite and unique. Even in Japan where Shinto is their main religion, they are even more honest and truthful in handling businesses. I always wonder and ponder what really happened to Christianity and Islam in Africa and Nigeria in particular. emmanuelewumi: 5 Likes |

This is why 1. Their catch phrase is dominance, they go to any country to dominate and rule. They rent a property from you as a single man but go back to the property in six months time, you will see four of their generations there i.e grand father, father, wife and children. 2. They have a young population that are IT enthusiasts. 3. They are open to relocating to any country even if you offer them peanuts as salary so long as it's better than Indian minimum wage, they know they are going there to build generational wealth not live on salary. 4. They learn tricks of your country coupled with their tricks which makes them look like genius. 5. Their honesty is 5 out of 10. emmanuelewumi: 3 Likes |

Donbrig: I know it has a lot to do with their value system, they came to Nigeria about 90 years to 100 years ago, as traders, mechanics, technicians, capenters, bricklayers owning their small businesses, but 90 years after their grandchildren and great grand children have turned their family businesses to multi billion Naira enterprises. Unlike Nigerian owned family businesses that die with the founders. 1 Like |

A man who is not a slave to materialism, consumerism it pleasures will go far in life A group of people who are not slaves to these will do wonders. And to a large degree These indians we look at with admiration are less consumed in these things Not totally absolved from it But they are less consumed in it 8 Likes |

emmanuelewumi:Imagine o Indian and Nigerian immigrant will enter Canada today The indian man is renting apartment with two other indians While the savings in rent is being invested in an index fund, month in month out The Nigerian man comes to canada, and is thinking of building useless house in Nigeria, or attending party , or splurging on nonsense Twenty years after The descendants of that Indian is already set up for an advantage because as teenagers, the funds their father has invested in, or the small business they have starred has grown They can go to uni debt free and face life and build on what their father has started Twenty years later The Nigerian has nothing to show for it Than useless Aso oke, a decrepit house in Nigeria (maybe ) and other useless things That addition to dopamine destroys us as a people 5 Likes 1 Share |

emmanuelewumi:Don’t forget there are close to 1.4 billion Indians in a world with 7 billion people. Just imagine a tiny percentage of that huge population studying at top American schools and getting employed at top global firms. Chances are that you will find a few of them rising to CEO level. The same way we find more Nigerians doing well abroad compared to other Africans. Population. But Indians are resilient and can adapt to any environment. India is as chaotic and as corrupt as Nigeria. If they can survive and thrive in business in those harsh conditions, they can survive and thrive in business anywhere in the world. 2 Likes |

DexterousOne:lol, Indians are some of the worst people around, stop with the accolades. Yes their people are highly tech savvy and that’s why they head most of the blue chip tech companies in the US, especially software companies but that’s just that. If Indians are as good as you guys are saying why are they still poor and undeveloped, unlike say China. Why haven’t they applied their ingenuity to their country, besides with such huge population, it a tiny group of their population are making waves then no special thing about it. We also have Nigerians making waves abroad 3 Likes |

chigo4u: I have related on a personal level with quite a number of them I know what I am saying.... I also knew the indian manager that turned around the business of Liyel Imoke's wife around A business that her relative(s) wan use as personal ATM Let me not say more than that From a soon to be bankrupt business, to a thriving one again We relate one on one, though he is back to india, we still talk. I know what I am saying Those guys are ahead of us Though if you want to talk about social awkwardness, that's another story on its ow n But when you talk of hard work And building legacy businesses, both in india and abroad Dont even go there They beat us HANDS DOWN They have their own "Silicon Valley" which we can call Bangalore And please; dont compare Bamgalore with that joke we call "computer village" which Is for the most part, a den of pirates and criminals looking for who to swindle On the entertainment side, I think it's a tie between India and Nigeria But when it comes to solid businesses Forget They have Tata Where is our equivalent In britain Eleven richest Britons 4 to 5 are of Indian origin Their "The Chancellor of the Exchequer " is of Indian origin Go and read up his profile, that of his wife, and his father in law, and compare him with any Nigerian in the west you know The person who he replaced is also of the Indian subcontinent descent Go read that one profile too I know it's hard for Nigerians to accept But I have accepted it cos I know is true Those guys are ahead ahead of us, and if we an swallow our empty pride and learn one or two things from them We can be in a better place 11 Likes |

jajeri3216:Its the general story of many Nigerians who moved abroad There is an indian/American guy called JASPREET Singh In one of his sessions, he spelt out the formula that first generation Indian parents use in order to set up their descendants on a better footing to compete properly in the west I learnt a WHOLE LOT And I still learn from them.... Though I dont like it when they tell me to my face that my people are lazy, but I can't give a rebuttal because indeed the vast majority of my people are very lazy (mental laziness too) 7 Likes |

Sholapey:Like I said If we are talking of social awkwardness (because I think they, well many of them behave awkward, or what we will call in Nigeria "somehow behaviour " ) That is another conversation on it's own But when it comes to the subject on ground Nigeria should sit down Those guys are ahead It's hard to accept because as Nigerians we have been lied to that we are "the best" But looking at it dispassionately You will see that we really need to BUCKLE UP as Nigerians I even forgot to add The IITs are among the most competitive entities to get into IN THE WORLD I think only gaokao is more challenging IITs produce talents that excel WORLDWIDE IIMs too Let us be doing owambe and fooling around While the rest of the world is striving to take positions in the scheme of things Twenty years from today Our children will ask us some hard questions 1 Like |
