Sorry to interrupt #thread cuties. Pls mamas in the house, does anyone have any experience with being pregnant and searching for a job? What are the chances? My husband is doing his PGd full time and I want to do something to support us financially before baby comes. Pls help!

It's tricky my sister. If you can handle the job and the morning sickness, I say go for it. I myself just got a new job, and I actually went for the interview like 4 days after I found out I was pregnant. It wasn't funny. Luckily, my employer told me to chill at home for two weeks and start the job beginning of February. That was my saving grace, cos those two weeks was like hell for me. It was the peak of my MS and some days I can't even get off the couch.

But by all means, if you can muster the strength to look for a job and attend interviews, please do. Babies are expensive and your husband needs all the help he can get financially. I pray you get a job sooner than you expect.

@Blessedmum, I tink I'm more dan perfect to answer u on constipation issues. Omo! I swim inside constipation 4 d whole first trimester. Hmmm I hated my lyf, alfred of eating, hate nights since it was diff 4 me to sleep, restless real bad, Hmmm I hav 4gotten oda discomfort I had. I complained to my gynea n he said I shud eat more fruits 4 were it was all story story. He also asked me to try changing my prenatal drugs to see which one suits me, na so I completely drop all my drugs ooo bt it wasn't d solution either. Later, a frnd suggested I drink warm Liquid milk every night as at den I was in my early second trimester n constipation bcame story. Wat I'm trying to say is, constipation is a first pregnancy package bt try drinking warm milk at night n see if it will help in digestion. Kpele dear, it wil end soon.

@funmz, I will suggest teaching jobs 4 nw. Although d pay is nt very much bt it depends on ur location n d schl 2. Or go into selling okrika cloths. My 2cent though.

The day fuad decided to frustrate me..
One this fateful day, pchn decided to give us light so I rushed to load d washing machine. I locked myself up in d bathroom so fuad wldnot think it's shower time. meanwhile I kept him busy with cartoon. The next thing I heard was a big bang! One mind told me finish up with d washing, the other said go nd check..
I would never have imagined that this boy would pull down d wardrobe..he opens d shelves and brings out d his clothes but I didnt know he had so much energy..chei!
In my mind I was like good for u!so I said u Will stay there till I finish what I am doing.. infact till u r daddy comes back so he wl c what I have been doing snc morning snc he was always asking.
I then snapped him for evidence nd went back to the bathroom...
For like 15mins every where was quiet..very very unusual. Besides, he is still supposed to b screaming for help!
I got there nd found fuad back on the couch watching his cartoon with the remote in his hands.. just d way I left him..he was looking at me like nothing happened..i was lost..hmmmm...

@cheerychy pooping is actually very common during delivery o. Many people just leave that part out. When I was to deliver my first, they used hot water and soap to flush out my Colon but I still pooped when baby was coming, I don't like remembering that part Lol.

Please wonderful mama's in the house im 38 plus infact I will be exactly 39 weeks by Tuesday. I feel serious movement from my Lo inside,and a slight milky discharge, 4 2days now but it doesn't smell .but d movement are so serious that I bearly sleep. Im so expectant.i do regular exercise, take pineapples and kpekus wen ever hubby is around. The movement is like a blow dat i feel down to my vagina.baby engaged since 35weeks but im so confused and hyper.pls d milky little discharge is dat wat dey call show cos im a FTM.could dis b signs dat labour is by d corner or should I go to d hospital? The last time I visited my doctor said my cervix is ripe for delivery I should take watever makes me purge that it will stimulate labour. I've tried nothing seems to make me purge not even vegetables. I dont want an overdue baby. And I don't want any complications. Pls somone help a concerned mom

Few teaspoons of castor oil and orange juice may make you purge! Sorry this too shall pass!

Hmmm baby things cost o as par the exchange rate. Na person go buy my baby things and didn't have the experience but had to escort a friend to buy hers. It was fun but na money matter. We reach there and come adjust what to buy according to the size of our pocket.

So here's the essential things to buy for now apart from hospital list o.
1}Unisex clothes.
2}Shawls/blankets.
3}Caps, socks, and bibs.
4}Towel and face towels.
5}Baby bath set.
6}Flask, stainless cup with cover and spoon.
7}Diapers / cloth nappies;
8}Toiletries: Lotion, oil, powder, olive oil, soap, sponge powder, methylated spirit / alcohol, cotton wool, wipes, and combs.
9} Feeding bottles and a plastic container with a cover for sterilizing the bottles.
10} The mother: Sanitary pads, panties, toiletries and change of clothes.
11}Baby bag.
12}Car seat.

Additional items will be bought as the baby grows, which depends on the usefulness of the item and one's financial capabilities.

Clothing
8 one-piece outfits or onesies (mix of short-sleeve and long-sleeve)
5 nightgowns (for use until the cord falls off)
8 one-piece sleepsuits
5 pairs of pants/ dresses
2 newborn hats
12 pairs of socks or booties, to wear with nightgowns and outfits
2 pairs of mittens, to keep baby from scratching face
3-5 (or more) outfits for dressing up

Blankets
3 large cotton blankets
8 receiving blankets (also used as burp cloths)

Breastfeeding
Lots of bibs
Burp cloths
Breast pump (manual or electric)
Milk storage containers
Nursing pillow (not essential)
Nursing bras (if buying before baby is born, buy one cup size larger than your pregnant bra size)
Breast pads (disposable or washable)
Lotion or ointment for sore nipples (lanolin-based is best)

Formula feeding
Lots of bibs
Burp cloths
8 four-ounce bottles with nipples
6 eight-ounce bottles with nipples
Bottle and nipple brush
Formula (be sure to check expiry date)
Thermal bottle carrier
Thermal flask

Diapering
One box or two bags of newborn-size diapers (Don’t buy too many in advance in case your baby is large or grows quickly)

@ mamafresh no mind pple wey dey laugh sey u poo. During labour with my late daughter I scatter everywhere with poo. The nurse complain ehn. I was induced too. Thank God for safe delivery of your lo. #Godwin

@funmz- i do hope you find something that will work out well. Many employers won't employ a pregnant employee. This is because they consider the fact that one would have barely done a full year's job and would require benefits like paid time off i.e leave, time off for ante natal care and so on. However there are always exceptions to this. Some may employ and say you get no extra benefits for eg. I still feel you can give it a shot and i pray God gives you favour and makes it all work out for your good.

As long as you are not showing yet! A showing belle is usually a minus to HR except you are valued as a real asset to the company, because all they can see is excuses,permissions and leaves.
