Rosabon Financial Services Limited flags off its Free Entrepreneurship Training Program
On Wednesday, April 4, 2012, Rosabon Financial Services Limited started its 2 day Free Entrepreneurship Training Program at the Sentinel Place, Maryland, Lagos. The training which was targeted at young business owners between the ages of 18 and 35 with enterprises that have been running for at least 18 months is part of Rosabon’s Corporate Social Responsibility to its stakeholders and Community.
According to the Chief Operating Officer of Rosabon Financial Services Limited, Mr Chukwuma Ochonogor, “Rosabon Financial Services Limited is one of the foremost Financial Intermediary and Equipment Leasing Companies in Nigeria. We have been in business for close to 20 years. As you know, our business is all about supporting people and businesses. We give out facilities / financial support in the form of loans, leases, LPO financing, invoice discounting, contract finance, etc. In the course of running our business over the years, interfacing with entrepreneurs, a lot of which we have refused to do businesses with because they did not pass our screening, we noticed a trend. A lot of businesses in Nigeria today are not properly structured and this in its own way hinders them from growing and accessing funds. The problem that most startups have today is not really funding, it is the structure to absorb funding. Our training program will help them build structures and put processes in place to make these structures work. This is because we see ourselves evolving into a business incubator / and the business finance hub for Africa in the next 20 years. Our CSR project (this training) was aimed at preparing the small businesses that will grow to patronize us. We know that if they get it right at the beginning, they will definitely grow to become world class enterprises.”
The participants for the training were drawn from different walks of life. A call for application was sent out through major social media websites and the entries were screened for 20 candidates. The 2 day training comprised of 4 modules; Business Plan / Proposal Writing, Business Networking Skills, Marketing Strategies and New Media and Getting Finance for your Business. Facilitators were picked from professionals who have hands on experience in the modules which they handled.

In his final words for the participants, Mr Chukwuma Ochonogor said ‘’for a business to succeed, you need a business plan that will give your company a sense of direction and guide you in achieving your business goals. You have to constantly visualize where you intend to be in the next 5 – 15 years as a business (by having a vision). It is a very difficult task to constantly dream when you have to oversee the day to day operations of a business but it is possible and necessary.”
