TheBoom: How long have you been trading clothes, and how succesful have you been at it. If you think you are making a lot now and you think this will continue into the future to sustain a family That music blog na just for fun IMO, or how much have you been making from it The thought of the BSc for the pride, was this an afterthought or this was in your mind from the beginning, When you were matriculating was this thought on your mind You know some people after failing at something they try to excuse it that it wasn't their main goal. e.g Hazard will claim CL goals wasn't his main target that its takeons that matter Only you can tell yourself the truth here. And if you will deceive anyone, Pls dont deceive yourself Physics is not a joke, You either into it fully or you just drop out and if you go to Open Uni, what course are you looking at |

raumdeuter: academic performance has zero bearing on business acumen. business in the end boils down to buying and selling for profit, and I know many olodos in the strictest sense of the word who are very good at business. 1 Like |

raumdeuter: The trading business is not firmly rooted. I get broke a lot of times. I just opened the blog, no posts yet sef From day one, my aim was to graduate with a good grade even though I know I would not do a 9-5. I'm definitely going to get a degree, I was just thinking of switching to open uni because my present CGPA looks like a lost cause/course If I gain admission to another uni, I'm switching to a very simple course, maybe entrepreneurship/marketing Hope u get my POV. |

TheBoom:What's your major? Have you done the permutations of how much increase you can see in your GPA? Don't give up yet, with due diligence, you can still come out with a 2:1 or 2:2. Have you also considered the cost implications of going to NOUN |

nihilistjnr: Do you know how many people are academic geniuses that are business flops? If 100 people start business with 5m, how many of them will be in business in the next 5yrs with at least 5m in their account There is a formula to academic success that guarantees almost 70% of the time, is there any formula to business success? |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by afrodoc2: 5:29pm On Jan 02, 2019 |
nihilistjnr: I don’t think that’s what he is saying though. The point is that just because you are struggling in school does not mean you should just jump into any kind business thinking it will be easy. If you don’t have the acumen and good fortune you fit wreck. And generally speaking school is easier than business. For an average person how well you do in school is under your control but in business there are so many variables that you can’t predict. You are right that there is little correlation between academic excellence and business acumen though. 1 Like |

raumdeuter: Very true. For the average person if you are serious in school and do what you are supposed to do you are likely to be ok at least. There is a formula to it. Going into business is another dimension. The same formula that made you a millionaire can make you pauper in less than a year due to external forces. |

afrodoc2 raumdeuter school isn't necessarily easier than business. I absolutely loathed school. I still do. School throws a lot of things at you, that you most likely do not care about, but have to remember and vomit in an exam. Business is a completely different beast- The number of dropouts doing a madness in the business world is proof that the so called easiy school formula may actually be a lot harder for some business magnates. 7 Likes 1 Share |

nihilistjnr: You loathed school doesnt mean you would have been better at business As hard as you think School is, It has a formular that will work. I can tell you study 4hours per day, avoid social life, treat past questions if you have a strong background you are guaranteed success Try that with Business, Give us the sure formula to business success The number of school dropouts doing great in business is a myth, Its simply selecting the exceptions and making it the rule Do you know how many of these dropouts are living in penury at the moment? Rather they will only tell you about Gates, Zuckerberg etc All the top companies that failed in business Do you know how many 1% Harvard MBAs they have? Do you know how many yahoo, Lehmann Bros, etc employed, Plus the business turnaround consultants they hired every year, from Accenture, BCG, Mckinsey etc yet didnt stop them from failing https://www.newsweek.com/mark-zuckerberg-bill-gates-college-dropout-harvard-success-586856 https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/273632 1 Like |

afrodoc2: When we were in University, After out year 4 IT, we came back and many of us made decent money for an Undergrad. While most of us invested it in alcohol, clothes and tushing your room or even buy a car, I had a friend who told us the 80K he made from IT he will use as the bedrock of his business and become a millionaire He disciplined himself so much, I remember him telling me that why do you need to eat meat? Its just wasting money that could be invested, "Dayo, You are already an adult, you dont need much proteins to grow like children, yet you buy 3-4meat drink beer, and 8hrs later you go shitt am throway and N500 gone" He started with phone kiosks, later computers doing business center, later cyber cafes later agriculture buying from Village selling in cities. By the time we were in NYSC just 2yrs later he has turned the 80K to over 6M. By that time he looked like he was the wise one and we are extremely foolish juveniles After school he continued his business never applied for any job. like 4yrs later the same business he grew up to over 15M crashed and left him with Zero He almost ran mad Do you know how many people in business have similar stories? Otedola I heard had to put Zenon oil for bankruptcy because his oil prices crashed when his fleet were still on the sea. The same business he did for years and became a billionaire |

nihilistjnr: Better at goal scoring that's all. He's not as technical and I don't believe he is as defensive minded as Kovacic. Kovacic is naturally a deep lying midfielder. So very defensively aware. Also, in another system, having Ramsey will be of great advantage. In Sarri's system, his strong abilities will be severely curtailed as the majority of play is in providing the triangles and passages of play through the channels, to the opposition box. 2 Likes |

The part in bold is not worth dropping out of school for One thing you can try while ASUU is on strike is to try to go for a computer course and see if its something you like or can do Something like programming, Try some languages out there and see if its something you might like 1 Like |

raumdeuter: you definitely have a point, but that 4 hours formula may be too hard for a nigga like me for example, who constantly seeks stimulation and is deathly afraid of boredom. Such a nigga might end up selling food and making a very tidy sum from it before trying something else. Business fail for any number of reasons no doubt, but for some people, sales are more intuitive than PN okeke. Just because someone found school hard, doesn't mean that they may find running a business equally difficult. |

nihilistjnr: You are still not getting the point. We are not saying once you find school hard you must find business hard. The skill sets needed to make it in each field are not identical. However generally speaking your input is more likely to dictate your output in school, compared to business in which you can do almost everything the right way and still end up a failure. On the average school is easier and more reliable, though there are definitely people who find business easier based on their particular skills set. |

raumdeuter: You are talking about the difference between running a business and wealth preservation. You are not advocating that people choose regular 9-to-5s over business right? Because I can give 100 bad stories of people who have had long-life careers and have ended up poor. There is no empirical evidence to support that going into business makes life riskier for you than being in a job. There are probably just as many people crashing and burning in regular jobs as there are in business. Especially in unstable economies like Nigeria's. I have found out that many people will find comfort in what makes their daily bread and will offer advise based on this comfort zone, which is what they assume is the road to success. They will also spread fear of travel on the other route because of lack of knowledge or some 5 people they know who failed. There several elements to business making. While prudence may be admired and make get you to make some money, being a poor people manager, poor investment sense, poor sales skills and management, poor client retention, fear of risk-taking, unwillingness to adopt technology and general lack of market awareness may make you crash. Just like a 9 to 5, it is most likely not the business itself that runs the man down, it's most times a lack of a certain skill and/or failure to acquire it in some capacity that runs the man down. Let's be cautious about spreading fear and refer people to those who have experience in fields where our knowledge is not as robust. 3 Likes 3 Shares |
