damola91: @collinsfbi @errybody boss, sorry for the incessant questions, Getting the study permit iz quite a headache, i have to go to abuja twice, to drop it and get it back, also paying the repatriation fee. i learnt from a friend dat if i got visiting visa, so if get over to the republic of SA, that i cud 'easily' get my study permit over there and that i wudnt pay the repatriation fee. Please i wud like to know how possible all this is, wudnt like to make mistakes that wud cost me dearly
TYPOP: Hello all. I have taken my time to read your posts. I the same question with @damola91.

I got admission to UJ and am about applying for the student visa. The VFS page is not displaying any information for student page. Reading from some people now, I think the application has closed.

Can I apply for the 3 month tourist visa, go there to begin my study and apply for the student visa when I get there?

Thanks.
Getting a study permit here is not a prob but you will be asked to pay repatriation and it's higher here, 7k rand in SA and 110k in naija, think about that. If I were you, I will pay in naija and come over with the receipt and other documents to apply for study permit instead of trying to beat the system.

if you were asked to pay 110k for repatriation, go ahead and make the payment. There is nothing to be worried about, your visa will be issued as soon as payment is confirmed. Be fast about it because deadline for repatriation payment don't usually exceed two days. Your visa will be issued and the repatriation receipt will be sealed with your visa. Good luck!

Sorry if anybody has been mislead by my post above. @all, let's try to verify information ourselves before we decide. Reading on this forum, I was totally discouraged that the application was CLOSED.

I can inform this whole house that the High Commission in Abuja will start receiving applications for the second semester admission in June and they will stop doing so by July ending. So, if you got the second semester admission, you will still get your visa. I was there yesterday and they gave me the BI-1738 and the medical clearance forms to fill. I will fill the medical clearance form at the Wuse General Hospital today.

Cheers all as we attempt to help others and make lives better for ourselves as well.

What skills do you have? And where in SA are you going?work permit might cost you 4-5000Rand. MY ADVICE. DO NOT PUT HOPE OR RELY ON ANY NIGERIAN FRIEND, BROTHER ETC HELPING YOU OUT ENTIRELY" This is because, they also may be struggling.. Job is not guaranteed anywhr in the world..
