Please i need help on my computer that just stopped working. Its a pentium4 desktop system. I start it up and was about working on it,i perceive a smell like something burnt, suddenly the picture on the monitor was distorted and the system went off. I tried to restart it and only the power light and hdd light came on without booting. I tried restarting but the lights were no more coming on. When i opened the casing.i inserted the power cable again but i noticed the cpu and the casing fan spining without pressing the power button but not spining well. The led on the motherboard was on i tested the +5 and +12 v but it was +3 and +1 volts. Could it be power supply faulty or mother board fault. Pls. I need advise on what could be faulty. Thanks. |

It is not a crime if you test the system with another working power supply! |

It should be the power pack. Try it with another power pack, if the problem persist then it will likely be your board is faulty. |

koseepaaro: It is not a crime if you test the system with another working power supply! I did not see another working power supply to test it with but just planning to take it to computer village tomorrow |
