The number of 1.4m he gives is even woefully inadequate. He doesn't even say in what sectors the jobs were "created" or whether there was any seasonality and whether he is counting the "NYSC" and other people involved in the 2011 elections process as part of his total. This is the level of obfuscation we've come to expect in Nigeria so I'm not surprised.

Nigeria probably needs twice the number quoted just to maintain our very high unemployment rate:

- 160m people in Nigeria with 70% under the age of 30 gives 112m.

- Assume half of 112m are above 18 but under 30 gives 56m. A growth rate of people reaching the age of 18 annually and who are not in full time education of 5% of 56m gives us 2.8m people. So based on the above needs to produce 2.8m new jobs every year just to stand still.

- We all know a good majority of the 18 to 30 are unemployed and a majority of those turning 18 (not in full time education) will also be unemployed.

@Kobojunkie you sure meant well! However, 1200 jobs has been added immediately with the enterpreneurs before the expansion that will follow. Anyway, it is a matter of choice for nigerian youths to continue to wait for some govt to provide with jobs or be the providers of jobs themselves! Whichever way, keep moving get innovative. I remember how 100s of thousands of application were simply burnt without a look @ by a govt agency who only needed 10 employees! That's d mentality of the youths but, when govt called out for youth to come up with innovations that will generate wealth and create jobs, hardly did 24k out of the over 600k that touched the botton were able to submit any thing creative! To me, our developmental challenges provide too much opportunities for innovative youths to make money and b CEOs!let's partner govt in solving youth unemployment and not this solution by talk!!! The bulk of the solutions we crave are in our heads and hands not our mouths!!!
