Rossikk: I would not completely agree with the 'market saturation' as the reason Nigerians move to Ghana for business the reason being that the same made in Ghana products are being shipped down to Nigeria for sales. Since the cost of doing business in Nigeria is slightly more expensive than in Ghana, most companies like Micheline and the like moved out. Of course you cant comfortably run a business on Diesel hoping to make Good gains. Most companies use Ghana as the manufacturing site while Nigeria is the target market. The Indians and Chinese in Nigeria cannot set up Industries in Nigeria for that same reason. Instead the pose in this country as the distributors to the already manufactured goods from their country. Government should establish a favorable environment for investors to set up industries here, then ban importation of the same goods being locally produced. Else we will all continue to be an object of ridicule to other developing countries. Our politicians are just so useless......... 1 Like |

Nigeria needs to learn from Ghana! Am impressed by the way they make a strong stand to protect their nation and economy by setting strict financial standards to ensure they get only the best foreigners! Nigeria has proven to be a big fool due to its acceptance of corruption and low standards! Gradually Ghana is taking our bests in terms of human resources, industries and medium/large scale businesses due to Naijas stupid policies and poor infrastructural development. Within the last 15years thousands of small scale businesses from Nigeria moved to Ghana just because of stable ELectricity which ironically was supplied from Naija. Many of these have later grown to large and medium scale companies employing ghanians. Also Big companies like Unilever, Michelin, Dunlop etc have transferred a larger chunk of their capital to Ghana where manufacturing is cheaper due to constant electricity alone. Many of foreign based Nigerian graduates who happen to be the best brains or with outstanding experience from unis and companies across d UK, US, canada etc but unfortunately couldn't go for NYSC programme were gladly accepted into great jobs by Ghana, SA, ivorycoast etc to help develop their nation while Nigeria incriminates them. Yet Nigeria opens boarders to housegirls, shoemakers and ashawos from Ghana in exchange. Let Naija keep being stoopid and Ghana would surely overtake them soon |

For God's sake, who says Nigeria supplies Ghana with electricity? That misconception is highly unintelligent. Please google lake Volta and the Akosombo dam. I hate unintelligent talks. The issue is, we want you to leave. You say we are poor, ugly and black, yet you can't leave our country. Ghanaian men are handsome, check out my profile pix. No wonder Naija girls can't get enough of me. |

Ok maybe Nigeria doesn't supply finished power to little ghana anymore but I believe it is wise for you to find out how ur country's energy needs were provided from 1970s till d late 1990s and which country mostly supported it. Also while at it find out which country singlehandedly supplies all the gas ghana uses to run its hydro-power dam in order to provide ur electricity till date. As per ur rantings of Naija to leave Ghana, I asure u the outcome would be devastating if we severe diplomatic ties, it would be like NEpA took light. @rossikk, am not saying ur theory of people leaving a saturated econmy to a less saturated one is wrong, but in this situation, that's not the case.I bet you are not a businessman or you don't even reside in NIgeria there's nothing saturated in Nigeria as of now. As a Nigerian businessman, u find that everything is working against ur business. And that's enough reason to even want to consider relocating ur business to other contries with better business environment and I think that's what is cahing people to Ghana. Not ur textbook theory. |

Correct! Exactly my point before that daft bigboyk started talking shit! Besides Nigeria and Nigerians have over the years contributed greatly to making dat place called ghana conducive for business and for those ghanian ingrates! That said I still blame Naija leaders 4 not crating d same environment and taking this kind of stand in Naija. |
Re: Ghanaian Government Closes Nigerian Businesses In Accra. by doublecross(m): 9:57am On Jul 07, 2012 |
why are you all complaining? This is not an issue at all. Ghana is nothing compared to Nigeria. if they ban nigerians and deport them, then we can also ban and deport them. we dont need them and we have never needed them. we can also ban their fast growing movies here in Nigeria. We dont want to see any ghanian at all in this country. we dont want them to collaborate with us in movies. It's as simple as ABC. Nigerians should stop complaining. |
Re: Ghanaian Government Closes Nigerian Businesses In Accra. by Nobody: 10:01am On Jul 07, 2012 |
So what exactly wrong with what ghanians did? let's say they dnt like us and don't want Nigerians in their country! So what! It's their country for goodness sake and they fit do what they want! If we nigerians think its bad then persuade the govt to act back(retaliate.) We can cut them off, let them Pay back any money they owe us,stops Nigeria from going there, bouycourt those companies that moved there eg Dunlop( re millions of companies in the world in need of big market.) Is Ghana really that important to us that we should worry about them. They have everything oil etc just simple both govt can cut each other off, save Future controversy and everyone moves alone ! Ghana don't feed Nigeria neigther do Nigeria feed them! If this is btwn china and naija or even safrica then there is a Problem, maybe a serious one! Atleast s/Africa has what we don't! China feeds us with Technology! |

femary2: Forget about this favourable business conditions. All these talks that companies are folding up and moving to Ghana is trash.Where is the market in Ghana?Go there and see.Nigeria has the biggest market in sub-saharan Africa.Business is all about market. Many manufacturers are looking for the cheapest cost of production that's y they R relocating. Ghana has constant light so manufacturers produce in Ghana instead of spending high costs on diesel so they can then market anywhere. This relocation has cost many Nigerians their jobs especially graduates. |

Toaskarity: So what exactly wrong with what ghanians did? Your post was very interesting till the last part. China feeds who with Technology? Technology in what exactly? Besides, what does SA have that Nigeria (if focused) will not have? Nigeria just needs to buckle up and be prepared because other African nations are out to disdain Nigeria at all cost. If all things were equal, the two countries you listed will be looking up to Nigeria but unfortunately, reverse is the case... WAKE UP NIGERIANS, hold your leaders accountable. |
