I finally took delivery of my E46 323Ci over the weekend.

First impressions are very positive. Compared to my Honda, the car is built like a tank. It drives well, handles well though the engine is not as rev happy as the one in the Honda.

I have got a couple of minor niggles so far. The remote fob works intermittently and I hear its not a simple case of replacing the battery, so I also need to get a new key reprogrammed. My power steering pump is leaking ATF from an undisclosed location so I have to take a look at it.

Any one in Abuja who knows a very good mechanic should please share their contact so I can get these issues sorted out.

Attached is a pic of it

323Ci with staggered 235 front and 255 rears gunmetal grey 18'' rims.

Beautiful car, your 323ci...mine is currently being repainted to matt black, will post pics when I'm thru...i have a leaky steering pump too...all that will be checked before the year ends.
I got a 330 engine for it, i wasn't comfortable with the engine so I'm getting a replacement...cash refunded...
same engine as the X5 3.0...

Similar condition as the guy with bad engine. Mine is a 2000 BMW 323I. The engine gives out all kinds of noise and it smokes a light bluish whenever I rev deeply. Wont mind buying a new engine. If only I knew the cost at ladipo

I think the bluish white smoke is related to the engine oil mixing with the coolant. You will need a new crank case valve in that case.

Are u in my mind?

What are the likely issues i should look forward to?

I will share pictures of the car once i confirm payment to Copart

Finally,

I had a scare. Someone warned me against buying the xi trim; All wheel drive.
He says the gear is quite complicated. Not just that, it is said to be scarce and costs about N700k

Can someone letter me more on this?

hello Emperoh,
it depends on the level of damage, sorry is this an e46 or an early e90 model?

E46. . . . . .can see you know this thing wella cos the XI trim, All wheel drive wasn't done with the E36.
Now, are these things i am hearing about the All wheel drive true?

Sneak Peeks cheesy cheesy

Thanks everyone for your kind words on my car. I really do love it but haven't taken her out for a spin in a while as my registration documents aren't out yet and I wouldn't want to contribute the Abuja police's Christmas chicken fund wink

In the new year I will definitely be changing her colour to Imola Red or Alpine white. Still undecided.

Once I get her registered, I shall take her out for a gratuitous photo shoot and post the pictures on here.

Also learnt that my power steering leak is from the steering rack and a replacement would cost me N75,000 plus installation (oh! the joys of being a BMW owner cheesy ) so I shall be topping up the reservoir till I get that bit sorted. It runs through a N600 bottle of hydraulic in a week.

Took the Honda to work today and I am not impressed. I kind of get where Siena comes from with his dislike for jap mobiles. They are pretty soulless. It also makes me marvel when I see the amount of people who would buy a used 2007 - 2010 Camry/Accord/Altima when for much much less, they could be grinning from ear to ear whilst seeing how many twisty roads I can drive along whilst doing speeds my Honda couldn't possibly do.

I am totally smitten by European cars now. They totally get driving enjoyment. I always thought jezza was a bit of a brand snob when he constantly praised some European cars but now I get it!

I also love the camaraderie amongst E46 owners in Abuja. Its really nice driving along in yours and you see someone driving along in his and you both look at each other in passing and smile knowingly that 'I could have bought any other car, but I decided I would get an E46'. Its like a secret society cheesy

I should be working but I am here gushing about what others would call a very old problematic german piece of poop car.

Thanks to this thread, I now know what its like to drive 'the ultimate driving experience'

Oh, by the way, my car is manual! (which is the only kind of transmission anyone who loves driving should own)

FLOODED cars mostly suffer from electrical issue such as blown out fuses e.t.c...... to me there's nothing wrong with buying so long as u know what ur buying and ur prepared for issue that will arise. most cars pple in naija use are flooded or accident car no matter how clean they look. but at least in ur own case u know what ur buying.
about the all wheel drive issue, all i know is that the system makes the car a bit heavy and u know what weight does to ur fuel consumption, finally have seen a couple of xi's in kaduna here so the car cnt be all that bad since folks are using it.
