We have to Win, Benin has to lose. Whats the big deal? Does it sound impossible? to me it doesn't. And I know that U Nigerians that have lost hope will be the ones sitting nervously in front of ur tv sets come tomorrow hoping for the best. Unnecessary Hypocrisy. |

the fifa highest rated in the country has gone 180 minutes without scoring and not up to 15 shots on target. it will be unfair 4 d eagles to qualify. we need only quality teams in the next round. |

Re: Super Eagles Squad At Ghana 2008: What To Expect? by Horus(m): 9:37pm On Jan 28, 2008 |
NIGERIA ON THE BRINK Nigeria head into their final group match at the African Nations Cup on Tuesday knowing they have to beat Benin to have any chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals.Berti Vogts' team have struggled so far in the competition, failing to score in their opening two games, and even a win may not be enough for the Super Eagles in Sekondi. The German must pray Ivory Coast overcome Mali by a big margin in the other game and his side see off the Squirrels and is already hoping for divine intervention. "I know it's not enough to have just one point from two games," said Vogts, whose side lost 1-0 to the Ivorians, before a goalless draw with Mali."We now have only one hope and that is the Ivory Coast and God."Along with Sudan, Nigeria are also only one of two sides not to have yet found the back of the net and the coach admits it is a major worry. He added: "The team have played well but we lack that final pass. To win we have to score. Our players tried but our final ball was poor."And Vogts believes the continued absence on Nwankwo Kanu, who has a knee injury, is a concern."I've said before the absence of Nwankwo Kanu is a big blow to the side. We missed his vision and control of the game," he said. The lack of goals is also troubling captain Mikel John Obi.The Chelsea star said: "We've just been unlucky and the goals haven't been coming. That's something we'll have to work on. We're still in the tournament so we'll have to see what happens."Benin go into the game on the back of two straight defeats which have already dashed their hopes of progressing. They went down 1-0 to Mali in the first game before a 4-1 hiding by Ivory Coast, but their coach Reinhard Fabisch is nevertheless looking to end the competition on a high.He said: "We played well against Mali. In Ivory Coast we played future African champions with motivated World Cup players like Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou."You can not compare a Mercedes Benz to a bike. You saw the difference between second tier professionals and world class players. "We will try again to play a good game against Nigeria." What makes you think Ivory-coast will want to face Ghana in second round? They will surely play to win Mali At least it is easier to face Guinea |

Kojeiwa/ Take it cooooooool 11 is completed 10x. I thought it should be 11 players. But you only have 10. Quote from: ife-eco-06 on January 14, 2008, 05:52 PM Emotionally speaking, I would have also criticised the exclusion of Ayila but the fact is that Ayila is not in form. He was ineffective in the friendly matches he played for Nigeria. No doubt,on his day,I believe he is our best combative midfielder.Very hardworking and serious on pitch. In fact if I were in Vogts shoe, despite loss of form,I would have still included him ahead of Olofinjana, who knows, he may pick form in Ghana.I have confident in him more than any other defensive MF of ours. But I don't have any strong, provable point to justify his incusion inspite of aglaring loss of form. My team: ------------------------------------------ENYEAMA------------------------------------------------------------ APAM------------------------YOBO--------------------SHITTU-----------------------------------TAIWO---- -----------------------------------------------ETUHU----------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------MIKEL-------------------------------------------------------------- UTAKA--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------OSAZE ----------------------------------YAKUBU----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------MARTINS--------------------------------------------------- SUB: KANU FOR YAK UCHE FOR OSAZE GO EAGLES, GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At this moment, we have C-I leading mali by 2-0, and Naija being 1-0 up. If these scores remain, we'll go through, though God knows we don't deserve it. |
Re: Super Eagles Squad At Ghana 2008: What To Expect? by topeorekoy(m): 7:51pm On Jan 29, 2008 |
why the jubilation and why were the carrying vogts up? why did we have to depend on c.i.v to do us a favour. to me, c.i.v will win this tournament, 3 goals against mali aint no joke yakubu is just a useless striker, osaze is just my man of the match, he was every where. my fear is that if we play like this against ghana, we r just coming home for good |

Hmmmm. . . . . The eagles played well, much better i must confess. Have they truely raised their game or is it just the opposition. . . . . Only time can & will tell. Sit back & enjoy for there's g'onna be a MASSIVE SHOCKA coming up on the next episode of Africa's MOST WATCHED DRAMA SERIES! @ camegirl, buzz me. . . . . . The ivorians obviously do not read the scripts of all the legendary, infamous mafiosos & c-baronés of criminal folklore. . . . . . The most vital being "take out ur most dangerous opposition @ first opportunity, 4 they can come back & haunt u @ a later time. . . . . " |

We are only lucky. The team can fumble and wobble to the final with a little luck, who knows |
Re: Super Eagles Squad At Ghana 2008: What To Expect? by Banderas(m): 11:02am On Jan 30, 2008 |
Ruudie, it was a risk for C-i as well. If they played for a draw, Mali could snatch a win and then lead the group, leaving CI to play Ghana. And NOBODY wants to play Ghana. |

Thank God we defeated Benin but the game played yesterday was not impressive. I got irritated when Berti Vogts was lifted yesterday. Has he not done anything spectacular. I wonder whether he is scared of Yakubu. Pls somebody help me beg Vogts to keep Yakubu on the bench. He is not a creative striker. We need a striker who can dance with the ball into the opponents box. A striker who can frustrate defenders and cause penalty. Yakubu is a cheap opportunist who fluks his goals. I rerfuse to accept he plays differently in Everton. Check out his goals in his club, they are all the same. We need a fire-power attacker to defeat Ghana |
