Health / Re: Should Non-doctors Head health Institutions? by Abraham2013(m): 12:19pm On May 02, 2013
eaglechild: The doctor is the head of the medical team.
Running a hospital requires a background knowledge of the workings of that hospital which is best known by the doctor because all the processes involved in patient management including requesting for medical investigations, drug prescription, patient monitoring emanate from the doctor.
The patient belongs to the doctor and he has the best knowledge of ALL the challenges in patient mgt from lack of power to run a life support machine to lack of petrol to run an ambulance (no matter how far off these may seem from actual medicine practice).
The doctor is ultimately held responsible for the well being of a patient, no other person carries a greater burden of responsibility.
ONLY A DOCTOR SHOULD HEAD A HOSPITAL LESS IT CEASES TO BE REFERRED TO AS ONE.

Well u hav spoken like a child as ur name suggest. D patient does not belong to d doctor alone. If a lab scientist does a wrong investigation and presents it to a doctor and d doctor in turn gives a wrong diagnosis, wen patient dies, d doctor will simply point at d lab scientist for been d cause of misdiagnosis and d lab scientist license will be withdrawn and d doctor does home free. Now if d patient belongs to d doctor sorely as u claim, dat means d lab scientist hav no case to answer.

2bosun: Medical doctors should not be handling senior public health/institutional roles, a lot of times they don't grasp the depth of administrative and strategic aspects of the roles.

Medical Doctors should be left in technical and advisory roles; public health systems should be left to accomplished public health experts who understand the economics, admin, and the science behind these public health systems.

Thank you my broda, u r so on point. And also public health is for every medical professional who hav interest in it, not 4 only medical doctors.

centje: You know hospital is all about patient's care. Every other thing is secondary. Among the health professionals only doctors pass through all the health departments in the course of training

My guy check ur facts well. Medical doctors don't hav any training in physiotherapy. Besides dat u r a medical doctor does not mean u r gud administrator. The Cheif medical director is an administrative position not a clinical one.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Was Nani's Red Card Justified? by Abraham2013(m): 10:57am On Mar 06, 2013
If man united fans r saying d red card given to nani was wrong, den mark clattenburg should be sent to jail. It's obvious man united cannot play without d help of a bad ref. I bet u nani won't hav gotten a red card if it was EPL game.

Politics / Re: Jonathan Can't Sack Maina – Presidency by Abraham2013(m): 7:15pm On Feb 15, 2013
Frank-C:
A very powerful man once said that power is deemed more powerful when sparingly used.

The Senate only have powers to summon and issue arrest warrant, not to convict. If Maina is arrested and dragged to the Senate house today, the question is what next. There are far more intelligent ways to handle certain things. Does it mean that Maina's present office is shielding him from prosecution that he must be sacked before being prosecuted or is sacking the punishment ad-JUDGED adequate by the senate as the right price for his offense?

The Presidency is very correct, at least on paper. Every right thinking person knows that the civil service is one of the toughest places to sack a confirmed employee, not even a cleaner. This was built in by the same Senate to shield civil servants from political victimization. If Maina is sacked today, he will go to court and will easily win his case unless he is disciplined by the civil service following the established procedure.

I've got no love for Maina but our Senators should stop behaving like the lower house. They are meant to be more mature and less exuberant. First, refer their case to EFCC/ICPC, mount political pressure on these executive agencies to get quick results. These agencies will then charge the man to court and possibly convict him if found guilty. But no!, they want their ego massaged...and immediately!!!

But more importantly is the way the Senate is going about this whole issue. They are being unnecessarily emotional and taking it very personal. They have now opened themselves up to more loopholes. One civil servant- Maina- has held a 109 member Senate captive and they are crying like babies to the President to help them save face by pushing the police and sacking the man as if we are in the military era. Next time they want to use their powers of summon, they should first seek better and more mature ways of handling the issue. Again, power is deemed more powerful when sparingly used.
U r one of the few straight thinking Nigerian I hav seen on nairaland. Dis is d truth n Nofin but d truth
