The protesters accused the soldier of shooting at them even though they were peaceful. The soldier, however, muttered inaudible words during the confrontation.

The chaos in Lagos state worsened after unarmed protesters were shot at Lekki Tollgate.

The management of Eko Electricity Distribution Company, EKEDC has debunked claims that it cut off the power supply to Lekki Toll Gate on Tuesday as peaceful protesters were shot at.

Mr Godwin Idemudia, EKEDC General Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr Godwin Idemudia, made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos.

Recall that youths protesting against police brutality came under gunfire while the light within the vicinity was turned off.

Idemudia said the Electricity Distribution Company was saddened by the gruesome events that happened at the Lekki Toll Gate.

The governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-olu has shared an update on the mass shooting at the Lekki tollgate area of Lagos state that left many injured.


The shootout that started in the late evening of Tuesday 2oth October at the Lekki tollgate following an imposed curfew in the state left no fewer than 50 injured and a yet to be known numbers of protesters dead as seen in bloody live videos shared on the internet.

His name was made public by DJ Switch who livestreamed the deadly shooting.

The government of the United States has warned its nationals in Nigeria to stay off areas of protests amid heightened tension generated by the ongoing EndSARS demonstrations.

This warning was given in a statement issued on Tuesday, October 20, following reports of violence and alleged shooting of the protesters.

US government noted the protest, which started as peaceful, has been hijacked as some places including police stations are now being targeted by suspected hoodlums.

The Federal Government has agreed to release N30 billion earned academic allowance to the university lecturers.

The money will be paid in tranches between May 2021 and February 2022.

The PUNCH gathered that the FG also promised to spend N20 billion on the revitalisation of the education sector as part of concessions meant to end the seven-month strike declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has denied being part of the Nigerians that participated in the protest, calling for the end of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, protest in Abuja.
