Obi's ideology and IQ is extremely high. This is the man Nigeria needs at the moment.

The battle is between Mr. Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar

As for Tinubu, nothing concern Arsenal with Champions League’s cup

Rejoinder Over A Write-up By Tunde Salihu Castigating ASUU Due To Strike

-Abdullahi Junaidu

I accidentally met a write up circulating media castigating ASUU over the incessant strike asking them to manage the situation of no fund in the country and forfeit their demands as nothing is going properly in Nigeria, my rejoinder will be against only that point for now !

Let me call his attention, in Nigeria it is only poor masses are asked to manage the situation under the pretext of no fund but the top elites in govt position are always earmarking huge amount of money for their frivilous and greedy sentiment, he didn't ask senators or any member of National assembly to forfeit their allowances and sacrifice some percentage of their salary for managing the life of Nigerians.

Between these greedy & incompetent leaders and poor masses who deserve to forfeit their entitlement to manage the life of one another ? Everyday we are seeing looting everywhere and still govt is screaming of no fund, no fund for education but there is fund to loot. Govt top officials are enjoying their luxury lives with 100% amenities while that of masses are hijacked telling them to manage the situation of no fund.
We are seeing them distributing luxury cars and buying aspiration forms of millions.

Every year there is Budget of renovating every office in villa and National assembly, even thier furnitures and decorations, allowances for servicing their vehicles and weekly newspaper which are all frivolous & greedy expenditure considering the country situation, huge amount of money are earmarked for these, if these money could be diverted to Education sector it would be a great achievement.
Education and these frivolous office renovation which one supposed to forfeit it's own share ?
We have to think rational please.

Yes ! Strike is not the only option to solve this issue, students should also storm Abuja and block every road in a bid to pressure the govt to act urgently, this will surely yield better fruits as it is the only language Nigerian govt understands !

We still have some blockhead writers that have absurd audacity to support govt in trying to destroy education system by advising them to eliminate ASUU...
Be rest assured, if ASUU is dissolved today, education system will not last for decade, even if it does, poor people can no longer afford it as it will be very expensive and that is what Govt want. So we have to wake up and do the necessary !

MESSAGE

There is a story of a fisherman’s son who had been taught how to swim long before he could speak properly. His tutor, the fisherman himself, was loving, but very demanding. Every day, he insisted that this boy spent hours in the water, practicing new strokes and techniques. They practiced every day and no matter how well the boy swam, his father was never satisfied. The most difficult part of the boy’s training was what his father called, “floating exercise”. This involves moving around in small circles in deep waters, keeping only the head just above the waves for many hours. At first the boy endured it all hoping that one day his training period would be over. Later, he confronted his father, asking why the training sessions were so difficult. “You are training for the stormy day”, the fisherman replied. He smiled gently and patted his boy on the back, adding, “My son, there may be no storm for twenty, thirty or even sixty years, but one day, without notice, the storm will come. When it comes, those who are not prepared would pay the price”.

Several years later, half of the men in the boy’s village went on a fishing expedition. The boy went with them. Big fishes did not seem to swim close to the villages anymore. To catch a big fish, men had to go really far into the sea. On this fateful day, the storm came. It came suddenly and raged for hours. When it finally subsided, the men who stayed back at the village sent out a rescue team and the only living soul was the fisherman’s boy, afloat, moving round and round in circles. As he climbed into one of the rescue boats, he remembered his father’s saying “When the storm comes, those who are not prepared would pay the price”. He had seen several of his playmates and villagers perish because they could not float long enough as they had not practiced hard enough. He had seen unprepared people pay with their lives.

There is a storm coming soon, It is called the rapture. Only those who are prepared will be saved when it comes. That day, many people will weep and gnash their teeth. Many will end up in hell, burning in agony forever because when things seemed rosy, they ignored God and His promptings to live holy. When that time comes, will you be amongst the survivors?

ACTION POINT
Don't mind the fact that many people are no longer preparing for the rapture; make sure you are ready so that you will not be weeping on that day.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Chronicles 16-20

HYMN 27: WHEN LIFE'S BILLOW YOU ARE TEMPEST TOSSED
1 When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

2 Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
yCount your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.

3 When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold.
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your Lord on high.

4 So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

Nairaland / General / Of Oyo State And The Deaths Of Her Obas... by Adno: 12:44pm On May 07, 2022
OF OYO STATE AND THE DEATHS OF HER OBAS...
Death is inevitable and only God knows when it's going to be each one's time. That's why each one of us should live every minute as if it's our last.

Of a truth, the administration of His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde witnessed serial death of some prominent traditional rulers. The death of Their Excellencies, Governors Abiola Ajimobi and Alao-Akala happened in the lifetime of this administration too. By virtue of their positions, those deads were prominent leaders of our state who did their bits in their lifetime.

My faith doesn't permit me to blame the death of those people on anybody. Almost all of those babas died not too young. I think it's just by rare coincidence of fate that the government of Gov Seyi Makinde witnessed all of this. There's no point calling our amiable governor an 'undertaker' as being said in some quaters! I commiserate with the governor and the good people of Oyo State over the deaths of those great minds.

MY GROUSE
Of a particular concern is the delay in the announcement of the new Soun of Ogbomoso. It's several weeks now that the kingmakers forwarded the name of the king elect to the governor of Oyo State through his LG Chairman. Such delay isn't unusual but what is unexpected and appalling is the silence of the state government on why the wait isn't over yet. The governor should say something to calm fray nerves.

MY TAKES
1. We might have had flawless and seemless selection of Obas in the past, there's no way that can play out in this dispensation anymore, save places like Ibadan where the succession line is vivid. The world is more civilized and there is a solid marriage between tradition and civilization now. The tides are changing so fast to the point that traditional chieftaincies are becoming lucrative and appealing, even to religious leaders who once saw it as sacrilegious. Thus, stiffer competitions and deep permutations are expected. I'm sure the government of Oyo State knows this much.

2. Consequent on the foregoing, loads of petitions, shouts and protests are expected. There is no way that can be avoided. However, a good percentage of those petitions lack substance that can discredit the process. Some are expected rantings and emotional outbursts. By now, we haven't heard of any of those petitioners taking the government to court. I think it's taking forever to dispense the petitions. An important stool like that of Soun cannot be void of caustic fireworks and vituperations... Everything will be over once the die is cast...

3. The Ministries of Justice and LG/Chieftaincy of Oyo State should do more works. If possible, all the gladiators and critical stakeholders should be invited. In those days when the goings were good, the Local Government Chairman could have been enough to wade-in with the support of leaders of thoughts in the land.

4. Perhaps, the governor is afraid of a possible religious bickering in Ogbomoso if the choice of the kingmakers is announced. I don't see that happen. Ogbomoso doesn't have such history. The last two Souns were Muslim and we don't have history of protests. The kingmakers comprises of Muslim and Christian people. Religious-wise, Ogbomoso is relatively peaceful.

5. If the kingmakers had picked a Muslim candidate in a fair play, the Christian community wouldn't have protested. The most recent Soun was friendly with people of all religions. He detested religious violence and showed it. The tie between the Muslim and Christian community in Ogbomoso is strong and formidable. As a Pastor, I have very strong Muslim clerics around me. We exchanged visits in the past two weeks. I don't see why anybody should weave a religious sentiment now that a Christian is selected! Religion is the last thing that can divide us in Ogbomoso. The government of Oyo State should investigate my submission. We know ourselves. We love one another. We have resolved to live like friends. It's only INJUSTICE and unscrupulous prejudice that can pitch us against one another. This is what the government should watch with clean conscience.

6. Perhaps, some people are warning the governor to desist from announcing the selected candidate so he will not have problems getting re-elected. I don't think they are right. It's God who chooses a leader. I believe that Gov Seyi Makinde is more concerned about posterity than the next election. The government should be wary of some expired politicians and agents of disunity from any parts of the state who by what they say on this matter may want to mislead our governor. Some people's legacy is in fanning the embers of disunity. Ipso facto, I'm not in doubt as to the intellectual capabilities of our able governor in handling sycophants like that.

7. Finally, if the procedures that produced the king-elect are wrong, let the government speak. If there are security reports against the elected candidate, let us know. If there were actions that are inconsistent with the gazette of Oyo State or the Declaration of Soun's Chieftaincy, let us know. If it's about petitions and protests, let the governor do the needful and let the aggrieved parties/individual's approach the court for redress.

Imagine the task to fill 8 thrones and we are still on this! LET THE GOVERNMENT OF OYO STATE TALK TO US OR MAKE THE ANNOUNCEMENT.

Niyi Adebayo,
Ogbomoso.
Nairaland / General / See Naira To Dollar Rate In 1980- Nigeria Needs Reset by Adno: 8:53am On May 06, 2022
ATTENTION TO ALL OUR PRESIDENTIAL AND GOVERNORSHIP ASPIRANTS, & ALL SINCERE NIGERIANS.

In case you don't know the root cause of our problems today, please take time out and read below:

As of 29/03/2022, the exchange rates were:

£1 = ₦783
$1 = ₦560
€1 = ₦670

42 years ago, precisely on 01/03/1980 the exchange rate was:
$1 = 0.78k

Are you surprised?

Well, we were far more productive in 1980 than we are today.

In 1980 the key reasons for economic growth were as follows:

1. We were a net exporter of refined petroleum products. Today we import all our refined petroleum products.

2. We rode in locally assembled cars, buses and trucks. Peugeot cars in Kaduna and Volkswagen cars in Lagos.

3. Leyland produced trucks/buses in Ibadan and ANAMCO in Enugu also produced buses and trucks.

4. Steyr in Bauchi produced our Agricultural tractors. And it was not just Assembly, we were producing many of the components:

5. Vono products in Lagos produced the vehicle seats.

6. Exide in Ibadan produced the batteries, not just for Nigeria but for the entire West Africa.

7. IsoGlass and TSG in Ibadan produced the windshields.

8. Ferrodo in Ibadan produced the brake pads and discs

9. Dunlop produced Tyres in Lagos and Mitchelin Tyres were produced in Port Harcourt. And I mean tyres produced from rubber plantations located in Ogun, Bendel and Rivers State.

10. We were listening to Radio and watching television sets assembled in Ibadan by Sanyo.

11. We were using refrigerators, freezers and Airconditioners produced by Thermocool and Debo.

12. We were putting on clothes produced from the UNTL Textile Mills in Kaduna and Chellarams in Lagos. They were Not from imported cotton but from cotton grown in Nigeria.

13. Our water was running through pipes produced by Kwalipipe in Kano and Duraplast in Lagos .

14. Our toilets were fitted with WC produced in Kano and Abeokuta.

15 We were cooking with LPG gas stored inside gas cylinders produced at the NGC factory in Ibadan.

16. Our electricity was flowing through cables produced by the Nigerian Wire and Cable, Ibadan; NOCACO in Kaduna and Kablemetal in Lagos and Port Harcourt.

17. We had Bata and Lennards Stores producing the shoes we were putting on. The shoes were not from imported leather but from locally tanned leather in Kaduna.

18. We were mainly flying our Airways, (the Nigeria Airways), to most places in the world. The Nigeria Airways was about the biggest in Africa at the time.

19. Most of the foods we ate were grown or produced in Nigeria.

We were producing all of the above and many more in 1980

Today, we import almost everything. Isn't that alarming?

There lies the source of the terrible exchange rate we are experiencing today and everyone reading this has a critical role to play in reversing this very UGLY trend.

We have been talking about these problems and more for ages.

It is not enough for us to complain about the exchange rate or point out what others are not doing or are failing to do. The key questions are:

1. What are we producing now?
2. What role are our so- called Leaders/ Politicians of today playing?

We are forever shying away from responsibility whereas it is a stack reality and if we don't deal with it, it won't go away. In fact it will get worse.

To our dear Politician, if you don't have the capacity to RESET Nigeria to what it was at least back in 1980 then please stay in your house and don't waste our time.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !!!

Please share widely on all platforms for Nigerians especially youths to know the critical role to play with the fixing of Nigeria. Which Way Nigeria,Which Way To Go.

Sports / Five Former Super Eagles Players Good Enough To Succeed Pinnick Amaju Pinnick-nf by Adno: 10:34pm On May 04, 2022
Five former Super Eagles players good enough to succeed Pinnick Amaju Pinnick-NFF
After being boxed into a corner, the outing president of NFF Amaju Pinnick has jettisoned his third term ambition. That Pinnick has failed as NFF president is not subject to debate but those jolting to succeed him are not better, they may even be worse than Pinnick. Here DAVID MESHIOYE looks at five former players who have what it takes to turn our football around.

Unlike their counterparts elsewhere, Nigerian footballers, especially those that have sound education or have played at the highest level are most times satisfied with playing second fiddle to neophytes in football in an industry that ought to run the show.

How does one reconcile a situation where Ahmed Yusuf Fresh is the chairman of the NFF Technical Committee and Mutiu Adepoju and Victor Ikpeba are serving under him?

And wait for it, Salisu Yusuf, a man who has lost credibility, who possesses a doubtful professional credential, is the head coach of the national football team and great Finidi George is his assistant, talk of mere men riding horses and princes holding the leash.

But elsewhere, great players in Africa and beyond take the centre stage and call the shot instead of eating crumbs. Examples include Michael Platini, Kalusha Bwalya, and most recently Samuel Eto in nearby Cameroon.

This is a wake-up call for Nigerian ex-internationals to rise to the occasion and take their rightful place in football administration rather than fight for crumbs that come in form of ambassadorial appointments and technical positions devised by NFF heads to shield them away from the ultimate prize.

Find below five former players that have what it takes to turn our football around.

Mike Emenalo
A good candidate to succeed Pinnick given his years of experience as Chelsea's technical director.

Regarded as one of the only long-standing black technical directors in Premier League history, the former Super Eagles left-full back helped propelled Chelsea to great success during incessant turbulence – and the club won the Champions League and three Premier League titles under a trio of managers when Emenalo was at the heart of their operations between 2009 and 2017.

He has since moved to AS Monaco and the club is gradually finding its rhythm in French football once again. Emenalo has the much-needed experience and international clout to take Nigerian football to the next level if he chooses to lead NFF.

Adokiye Amesiamaka
The barrister is known for his meticulous approach to things of life and he is a man who embraces accountability as well as transparency. His wealth of experience helped shape the face of football in Rivers State and his 20 years reign as chairman of defunct Sharks FC still speaks volumes. Adokiye was instrumental in the change of football philosophy in the state which paved way for the discovery of raw talents like Victor Ezeji and other grassroots players.

This University of Lagos Law student once condemned the country FA for fielding over-aged players which helped a great deal to curb age falsification among young footballers. He has got the image and panache to take Nigerian football to the next level. Wouldn't you commit the future of your football into such hands?

Seyi Olofinjana
Another good candidate to turn the Nigerian football administration around given his academic background, accountability instinct, and meticulous approach to things. But NFF cabals opted to offer him lesser appointments when he should have been encouraged to take over from Pinnick.

Olofinjana, who is currently the sporting director of the Swiss club Grasshopper in Zurich had turned down the opportunity to become Super Eagles manager some time ago. He would have been an ideal choice but the system won’t permit him. And what makes anyone thinks Olofinjana is ready to leave Switzerland at the moment? He could in the future.

Segun Odegbami
The Big Sheg seems to have the big clout both on the local and international stage as far as football administration is concerned. His biggest sin according to States FA chairmen back then was nothing else but his insistence on checkmating reckless spending by board members, and that means he could not get enough votes from delegates. He has the PR presence and knowledge to revive the marketing department of the FA if he is appointed and it is just a matter of time before Odegbami breaks that barrier created by Nigerian football cabals.

Sunday Oliseh
Love him or loathe him, Oliseh has got the right foundation and intelligence to lead Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). He cannot breathe where things are not done professionally and that explains his constant fury at Nigeria football administrators.

His success story at Fortuna Sittard laid credence to that fact while his short stay as Super Eagles gaffer was a moment to cherish by Super Eagles stars who worked and described him as a custodian of transparency, hard work, and empathy.

Just like Samuel Eto'O was cautioned by Roger Milla in the build-up to his campaign as FECAFOOT president, Oliseh would need to tame his demon by controlling his temper if he wants to be NFF president.

Religion / Open Heavens 5th May, 2022 by Adno: 10:09pm On May 04, 2022
OPEN HEAVEN DEVOTIONAL

DATE: THURSDAY MAY 5TH 2022

THEME: THE STRENGTH OF TWO OR THREE

MEMORISE:
Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 18:19

READ: Ecclesiastes 4:9 -12
9 Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.

10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.

11 Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?

12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

MESSAGE
There is power in numbers. By God's standard and according to today's Bible reading, two individuals have an advantage over one. We also see this in our memory verse today, where Jesus told us (His followers) that when as little as just two of us come together to ask God something, He will, perform it (Matthew 18:19). This shows us that the Lord wants us to be united as He assures us that whatever we ask of Him in agreement shall be done.

We all need partners to work for success in our Christian race. God provided a partner for Moses in the person of Aaron his brother (Exodus 4:10-17). Hur, another minister under Moses, aided him in his Intercessory prayer for Israel's victory in their war with the Amalekites (Exodus 17:8-13). Some Christians are ignorant of the spiritual aid they can get from their fellow believers. During a crisis, we need partners, as in case of David's encounter with a descendant of giants. It was Abishai - David 's aide, who killed the giant that would have slain David. No one knows the rank of Abishai in the army, yet he was David's rescuer on that terrible day of the battle 2 (Samuel 21:15-17).

Sin the Bible reading of today, the word of God expressly tells us the benefits of the numerical strength of a people. This is why l always emphasize the numerical growth of the Church. The benefits of the numerical strength of the Church cannot be overemphasized. A project is more easily accomplished by 200 people than with just 20. This also reveals the benefit of marriage. A lot of blessings accrue to holy matrimony and this is why the Bible says two are better than one (Ecclesiastes 4:9).

Another major benefit of coming together as Christians is the privilege to enjoy the presence of the Lord. Jesus Christ promised in Matthew 18:20 that wherever two or three persons are gathered in His name, He will fellowship with them. Beloved, let us endeavour to encourage communal Christian living and mutual support -the benefits are indeed numerous (Psalm 133:1-2).

ACTION POINT
The church should encourage corporate social responsibility that enhances unity and power.

Agriculture / Fish Farming- Rising Cost Of Feed. How Do I Cope? by Adno: 4:16pm On May 04, 2022
I'm into fish farming. Please how do I cope with the rising cost of feed and other cost of running the farm like buying fuel to pump water in this area because there no light around here. There was really little or no profit from my last sale. Please advice.
Nairaland / General / How's Farming In Your Area? by Adno: 3:59pm On May 04, 2022
Now that rain is falling very well especially around this North Central, people are seriously rushing to farm. In fact, I like their attitude to farming here. They love it and probably because there's no other option in this era than to go to farm. Every available space is for farming.
How's farming around your area?
Do you go to farm at all?

Culture / The Heart Of The Late King Must Be Eaten By The New King by Adno: 3:48pm On May 04, 2022
How true is this statement?
The Heart of the late King must be eaten by the new King in Yoruba Land.
We've heard several stories that when before a new King will come on the throne, he must first eat the heart of the late King and when He is asked what he has eaten, he'll reply with "mo je Oba" which is interpreted as "I become King".
How true is it?
