Education / Re: Nigeria Adopts - 1 6 3 3 4 Education System by adros84(m): 8:04pm On Oct 26, 2011
The difference between 6-3-3-4 and 1-6-3-3-4 is very clear except to the blind. The former has a one before it while the latter does not. By the reasoning of the Government of Nigeria, that is enough to solve all the problems bedevilling our education sector. Praise God!

Politics / Re: Colonel Gadhaffi Vs Colonel Ojukwu:who Got Balls Of Steel?who Was The Real Man? by adros84(m): 11:09am On Oct 24, 2011
@ Eko Ile
Your attitude is one reason Chief Obafemi Awolowo never became Prime Minister or President of Nigeria. Anybody that disagreed with him in Yorubaland was labelled a bastard or saboteur and was marked for destruction. It is wrong to believe that everyone must simply agree with your point of view in all matters. Let me ask you, did our forefather, Lamurudu the father of Oduduwa not flee Mecca and Medina during a war there? If he had chosen to die in Mecca or Medina, how would the Yoruba race had come into existence? This is history than can be verified from the history books by notable Nigerian and non-nigerian authors.
Politics / Re: Colonel Gadhaffi Vs Colonel Ojukwu:who Got Balls Of Steel?who Was The Real Man? by adros84(m): 10:56am On Oct 24, 2011
You mean you did not know that Brigadier Ogundipe declined to take over in those days when Ironsi was missing? Then you do not know anything about Nigerian history. The man simply could not assert himself because he was afraid to die. Now the question is: Can we now on the basis of this say that all Yorubas are cowards? Of course no. The man simply exhibited his knowledge of self-preservation - Discretion is the better part of valour. There is nothing wrong in being a dullard, especially a successful one at it. If speaking the truth makes me a dullard, then I would rather be a dullard than anything else.
Politics / Re: Colonel Gadhaffi Vs Colonel Ojukwu:who Got Balls Of Steel?who Was The Real Man? by adros84(m): 10:37am On Oct 24, 2011
@ Eko Ile,
Biro ba lo logun odun, otito a le ba lojo kan. Say whatever you like, I am Yoruba and proud to be one. But I am also a student of history. I am not like people whose knowledge of history is based on newspaper reports and beer parlour gossips. I respect Ojukwu as a person for his role in standing for the rights of his people. I wish we had someone like that during the Abiola case. That I do not belong to a tribe will not blind me to good things about that tribe. That has been the problem with us in Nigeria. Most Yorubas do not see any good thing in any other tribe, same for most Igbos and Hausas. How can an educated man be blind to the good in other people. If I know my English very well, that is the meaning of parochialism. The Igbos like other tribes have their good and bad points. I respect them for their industry, tenacity of purpose and fighting spirit. I respect the Yorubas for their intelligence, kindness and straightforwardness. I love the Hausas for their simplicity. For the avoidance of doubt, I repeat  that I am YORUBA form EKitiland. EKITI KETE.
Politics / Re: Colonel Gadhaffi Vs Colonel Ojukwu:who Got Balls Of Steel?who Was The Real Man? by adros84(m): 4:52pm On Oct 23, 2011
Hello, I'm Yoruba and not Igbo so let no one misunderstand my contributions. I hail from Ekiti State. I do not think it fair that Ojukwu is being compared to Ghadaffi. Ghadaffi had all the arsenals of the Libyan nation And a heavily trained army at his disposal. That helped him a lot. Besides he had been in power for 42 years. That was enough time to build some loyalty amongst the populace. Not so with Ojukwu. I believe of the two, Ojukwu was the braver. He single-highhandedly stood up to the Northern Oligarchy when Brigadier Ogundipe, a Yoruba man, who ordinarily should have taken over after Ironsi's death ran away for fear of death. Ojukwu deserves our respect. That he left Biafra at the time he did was not a sign of being a coward. It was a sensible thing. It was an option Ghadaffi should have taken when he was offered the chance and who knows, history would probably have vindicated him because he truly positively affected the lives of Libyans in general. It was a shame the way he died, caught hiding in a drain pipe! If the Biafran rebellion had taken place under similar circumstances, I have no doubt that Ojukwu and Igbos would have won!.

arsenefc:

Because the LASU graduate is more likely to pay on time and at higher prices for services rendered by the mechanic to him, instead of haggling.

Also, the educated LASU student is less likely to break into the Mechanic shop, saving him money and lost productive work time

And since we all need a lawyer at one point or the other, the mechanic may one day need the help of the LASU student to help defend his rights, NO?

Anyway, the point is that the society benefits greatly from subsidizing the education of the smartest among us.

So LASU trained lawyers will render free service to the mechanic? No the society does not benefit from you because the society will stii pay for that same service. Do Medical doctors ever remember that they were trained with our tax money when they decide to go on strike over call allowances? I beg, let them pay now so when we have to pay for their services, we will have no reason to complain.
Politics / Re: Protesting Lasu Students Barricade Lagos-badagry Expressway! by adros84(m): 11:14pm On Oct 22, 2011
Very good private secondary schools in Ikorodu, Lagos State charge a minimum of N350000 per session for day students and between 600,000 and 900,000 Naira per session for boarding  students! And this is Ikorodu, not Ikeja, Surulere or Ikoyi. No wonder you get to interview most of these so called graduates and they cannot pass simple O'L tests.  LASU is what it is now bwcuase it is not adequately funded. Let students pay for the true cost of their education and the funds will be available to provide essential facilities for the staff and students.
Politics / Re: Protesting Lasu Students Barricade Lagos-badagry Expressway! by adros84(m): 10:58pm On Oct 22, 2011
Why are these students protesting? Most private secondary schools in Lagos State pay more than these fees.  Besides, anything good costs money and who says university education is a must? Besides, must they attend LASU?

Politics / Re: EFCC Wants Churches To Investigate The Sources Of Huge Tithes by adros84(m): 10:16am On Aug 17, 2011
Nothing new in this. My church already does this. Any huge sum of money dropped in the offering box is investigated and where the payer is not able to explain satisfactorily the source of the money, it is returned to him. However, I'm not sure the church will go to the extent of reporting to EFCC. The church's role is not to report crime but to get criminals to repent. It is left to the repentant criminal to restitute his ways as evidence of genuine salvation.

Education / Re: Post Ur Waec Grades And Lets Celebrate Or Console You by adros84(m): 1:05pm On Aug 14, 2011
In fact most schools which encourage cheating end up with poor or average results because cheating kills hard work on the part of both teachers and students. In my school for instance, once you are promoted into SS 3, classes start at 6.30am daily and last till 5.30pm. Sometimes our principal teaches SS3 students in the hostel from 9.30pm - 10.30pm every day. Besides once you resume in January (2nd Term), you do not go home except for Good Friday and Easter Monday. And you get to write about three full WAEC standard examinations between January and April when the WAEC exams begin. And God help you if you under perform. You will be brought out before the whole school and your parents will be invited to talk to you. My school does this because once examination starts, you are on your own. The result is that everybody is focused. Besides there is a cash prize for teachers whose students record 100% distinctions and credits. Why would a school dash teachers money if they aid students to pass?
Education / Re: Post Ur Waec Grades And Lets Celebrate Or Console You by adros84(m): 12:58pm On Aug 14, 2011
There is nothing special about having A1 in Physics or Further Maths. What is tough to you may be easy with another candidate. In my school, the cheapest subjects are Physics and Chemistry. Last year, the worst result in Physics was B3. Same for Further Maths. And we do not cheat! You only need to have competent and dedicated teachers and focused students and the results will be extra-ordinary. To assume that anyone with a brilliant result must have cheated is to assume that no one can do very well without cheating. How do people make First Class in the University? By cheating?
