@bovali, with all due respect, there is a huge difference between the presented charts of OANDO in 2014 and OANDO in 2024. There might be some similar sentiment among retail investors, but in terms of 'smart money' sentiments, there is a huge difference between now and 2014.

2014
On the weekly, price closed above the swing high in the 2nd week of June, it was immediately rejected the following week and never recovered. The monthly outlook is even worse - never closed above the previous high (that's a negative signal)

2024
Having succesfully closed above 16 in July, price has since not looked back. Price also overcame a pause in momentum in the 2nd week of August and closed in a strong bull. A price pullback will likely struggle to go below the low of August 2nd week's low (technically).

There may possibly be some pullback, but as it stands, price is targeting above 90, market reactions at this level will determine the next direction

@BBM please what app do you use for your chart ?

I agree to everything written, with a little twist and a balanced approach to all. In this market, one need not be too rigid about a certain strategy. You have to be flexible in your approach. But atlas, you can not force someone to be what they don't want to be. As it is, only those willing to approach market with a soft heart obtain certain juice out of it. Sentiment works, TA works, FA works too. A combination of one or two is even perfect.

Mankind2024:
My View on the Illusion of Stock Overvaluation and Why Investors Should Rethink Stock Valuation.
When Total was trading at sub-N400 a year ago, it appeared overvalued in the sights of many investors.
Low liquidity and low volume were also cited by some forum members, with daily prices sometimes static. Then, speculations by retail investors emerged that there was a hidden gem in the company. The story changed, and the price is now heading towards the N1,000 mark, same is true for OANDO, We NSEMPA members single handedly dictate its current price.
This motivated me to research why the concept of stock valuation using the traditional methods of FA, CCA, ABV, GGM, EV/EBITDA, P/S RATIO, P/B RATIO, DCF, DDM, P/E RATIO
All these may no longer be absolutely relevant in modern settings. No wonder the legendary investor Warren Buffett described the modern stock market as a casino due to massive participation by retail investors. Behavioral and financial psychology is now the order of the day.
In light of this, I came up with the following supporting opinions to buttress the assertion that the concept of stock overvaluation lies in the eyes of an individual(buyer), not the dictate of the market.

In the era of digital mobile technologies and social media, the investing landscape has undergone a significant transformation. The emergence and active participation of retail investors has revolutionized the way stock prices are determined, rendering traditional notions of overvaluation obsolete. It's time for investors to abandon the concept of overvaluation and embrace a new reality: a stock's value is ultimately determined by what individual investors are willing to pay.

_Subjective Valuation_

Stock valuation has always been subjective, with different investors holding varying opinions on a stock's worth. What one investor considers overvalued, another might see as undervalued. This disparity highlights the futility of relying solely on traditional valuation metrics.

_The Rise of Retail Investors

The influx of retail investors has demonstrated that collective individual opinions can drive stock prices, making traditional notions of overvaluation less relevant. As more investors participate in the market, their collective sentiment and speculation shape stock prices. This concept alone was the reason my boss Oga Agba has been locked out of the market. He is still waiting for the index to obey the dictate of Ichimoku and fibonacci. 😆 🤣 😂 😹

_Speculation and Sentiment

Speculation and market sentiment, fueled by digital technologies and social media, significantly impact stock prices. This makes it challenging to determine intrinsic value, as prices are influenced by various market dynamics, such as momentum, trends, and herd behavior.

_A New Era of Investing_

The digital age has ushered in a new era of investing, where information dissemination and accessibility have empowered individual investors. Traditional valuation metrics are no longer dominant, as investors rely on diverse sources of information to inform their decisions.

_Price Discovery_

The true value of a stock is ultimately determined by what investors are willing to pay, making price discovery a dynamic and constantly evolving process. This reality underscores the importance of understanding market sentiment and speculation.

_Efficient Market Hypothesis_

The efficient market hypothesis suggests that prices reflect all available information, making it challenging to consistently achieve returns in excess of the market's average. This theory supports the idea that stock prices are influenced by individual opinions and speculations.

_Behavioral Finance_

Behavioral finance highlights how psychological biases and emotions influence investment decisions. This further supports the notion that stock prices are influenced by individual opinions and speculations rather than solely by fundamental valuations.

Lastly, the concept of overvaluation is no longer relevant in today's investing landscape. Investors must adapt to a new reality, where stock prices are determined by individual opinions, speculation, and market sentiment. By embracing this shift, investors can better navigate the complexities of the modern market and make more informed investment decisions.

Welcome back, Mankind2024

Yes, back from the wicked and unjustified ban by the NSEMPA headless moderator. I done miss una oooo. It was a worthless ban, trust me, my pen is stronger than the faceless and wicked moderator. I had to tag Seun, the son of Osewa, for a quick intervention. @YMcy56, Megawealth, Streetinvestor, Oga Agbalowomeri, Pa Emma, all of una no even ask after me. Lol.
This NSEMPA platform is the most important to me. The only social media account that I have. This made the ban painful. The ban lasted 4 days which appeared like 4 years.

Yes, back, better and stronger. As e dey pepper the faceless moderator, na so e dey sweet 😋 me now. Ban me again, the next letter against you would be very toxic and bitter.

The message that crushed the headless moderator.
@Seun, son of Osewa, I'm reaching out to bring attention to an unjust ban I received from a moderator in the Investment section. Despite being an active and contributing member, I was banned without violating any rules or committing any infractions. I believe this decision was unfair and deserves investigation. I request that the ban be lifted and hope for a resolution to this matter. I'm concerned that this incident may be a result of bias or tribalism, and I hope we can address it objectively.

Oando is a great long term stock. No matter what the sentiment or fundamentals say, Oando fair price is around ₦150 - ₦200. That is the price it will settle.

The stock has no business staying below ₦100.

Just when I thought I would be getting some offers tomorrow

You go sell abi you no go sell?

I have a friend that's currently laughing those rushing Oando now... He is currently based in Switzerland...

Few years ago during the COCOPHILIPS era I was using Oando as gamble which is usually my style... Back then in NAIJA we reside in the same area... I bought Oando averagely at 11+ and was selling between 30-33... I sold the last batch at 33 or so... I left little anyways which is my usual style in any stock I don't really want to invest in but... This my friend carried Oando matter for head that year sha... He said I know nothing about investment bla bla... He said very soon the $1.5b investment in COCOPHILIPS will start yielding results... I told him the little I have should continue oooooo

He left his with the hope of whatever price he has in mind... When Oando got to 36+ or so wahala come start oooooo until it went so low that people were even picking it #4 oooooo...

What a surprise right?

As una dey buy hope dey use sense dey trade with Wale and his likes...

Cash is KING

So disheartening.

If there is anything I've learned in this market ehn, it is to never be emotionally attached to any stock. In one way or the other, many of us have paid “school fees” and had learned. My people say ‘any person wey don go war before no dey call himself man”

I had to buy many years later at 0.20k... Thanks to God I finally got fresh air because of that decision...

If you are dining with Jegede eh... Wale seems na lil saint where JEGEDE dey although if Wale wan deal with you eh E dey be brutal grin

Truly, it wasn't funny those years. I also bought then. The crash was great, first to around #1, then it went to that 0.2k and stayed for many years. Wale na “deep sea”, Jegede na “the devil”, if you are caught between the two, just look up to God.

The mistake most of us make in the psycho-social evaluation of others is to think that numbers neccessarily translate into wisdom.

When you look at personalities like Dino Melaye for instance, you just get to know that while some may have huge numbers as age, they are in practical sense mere petulant babies in adult skin.

How do you handle children at home when they are hyper excited? You let them be as long as they do not constitute danger to themselves or anyone around. You just let them be!

Gbas gbos continua, another night of thrills 😀

Ikeja Hotel

H1=62k
FY=0.62x2=1.24
Common Sense Value ( lower) = 1.24 x 4 =. N4. 96
Common Sense value (upper) =1.24 x 5 = N6.20
Target Price Range =N4.96 - N6.20
Current price = N6.8
Hence Overvalued by the strategy. NOT A GOOD BUY AT THE CURRENT PRICE. ALLOW TA TO SUPPORT. Please see charts.

Please also note that dividend payment is poor to bonds and treasury bill yields so if penalized by applying a 75% marked down of the lower value, would fall to N3.72.

For me, it's not a good buy except well below this figure. That's for me though.!!!

Thank you aj8 for this formula.
I would like to know if the (2) factor is constant for both penny stocks and large stocks?
