Politics / Re: Is Nigerian Actually The Most Corrupt Nation On Earth As West Pronounces? by alias64: 12:35pm On Sep 13, 2009
Only a profoundly ignorant and morally bankrupt idiot would think that Nigeria is the most corrupt country in the world. It is one thing using reverse psychology because you’re upset about poverty in Nigeria quite another if you really let yourself be mislead by white hypocrisy.

Africa Cup of Nations

4 times  Ghana 1963, 1965, 1978, 1982
2 times  Nigeria 1980, 1994

hmmm know what,  if I had been a footballer I’d rather football Olympic gold medal in my house than a hundred African cups. I like the idea of rubbing wazunga noses in it and i think deep down most Nigerians are like that.

Good thing. They’ll be emasculated.  By the time, Ghana finishes with them the militants will be reduced to screaming hysterically when arguing and making obscene sexual remarks like on Ghana discussion forums and just as Nigerians educated in Ghana seem to do.

Curiously, people who tag themselves Biafran tend to heap praise on Ghana. Someone needs to be more careful

My points exactly. It just had to be Nigeria. Like I said earlier, when everyone is seeing us in a bad light, then its time to look inwards.

Again:

soloqy
Would also like to know the bad depiction in Phat girls.I believe thats what Seun was trying to ask.

The question is, why Nigeria if there is nothing terribly wrong. The list goes on:

Season 4 of Lost. It was Nigerian drug smugglers pretending to be priests, who crashed with their plane filled with drugs on the Island. And of course, Mr Eko who was depicted as a murderous drug peddler who later repented.

Things aren’t always that simple. Remember more people used to see the Jews in worst light and in the end, the only people forced to look inwards were the Germans.
Politics / Re: Is There Rivalry Between Nigeria And Ghana? by alias64: 12:27am On Sep 10, 2009
Yep, looks as if “Nigerians” on this board do really despise Ghana and whish Ghana to fail because “Nigerians” see only the good things in Ghana, which is contrary to the “Nigeria” philosophy that assumes concentrating on bad things, and abusing self, leads to progress. wink

soloqy:

This is the kind of comment that keeps us rooted to where we are. In a cesspool of rot and decay and fraud.

Such denial.

You didnt read about the Nigerians caught in Ghana(yes ghana), who relocated to ghana because the Address Verification Systems for IPS(AVS) which online merchants have put in place, would not allow them do any fraudulent credit card transactions from Nigeria anymore.
Those countries didnt just wake up to decide to give Nigeria a 'bad name'.

Any email that is sent, the address or location of the person can be determined via an AVS or IP address.

When they recieve 1million scam letters and 999k of them is determined to come from Nigeria, what do you expect them to think or feel?

People have decided to look everywhere else but inwards.

You dont love Nigeria more than I do. And the only way to change is to tell yourself the truth.

You start by telling people like Thisday Newspapers that they are an embarrasment to Nigeria for inviting Olu Maintain to the States to sing Yahooze to distinguished guests. With all the 419 connotations.

You start by telling people like Kennis Music that they are a shame to this nation for promoting that music to high heavens and for also digging up another drifter called Kenny handsome to make a mockery of the whole Nation with even more decadent lyrics that exalted 419 to another pedestal.

We start by telling the Board in charge of  Nollywood(The main culprits in the 'name spoiling saga') to urge them to become responsible in making movies. And if they refuse to become responsible, boycot those Nollywood movies and sensitise your kids and family to stop watching em.

Go a little further to urge DSTV to vet those movies they get from Nollywood and when the film makers start getting their movies rejected from Dstv and losing revenue from that, they would surely become more responsible and creative in their endeavours.

We all start by making a shift from this path of celebrating wealth in such a way that every teenager has an inordinate ambition of driving a 20million naira car in a year of getting out of school.

This would do for a start. Its not just the government. Its starts from where you are.

Nigerians do not need to justify themselves to anyone.  Nigeria and Nigerians are essentially facing racism. Further, Nigerians/Nigeria will continue to face stereotyping and all that leads from this so long as they fail to come to terms with the fact that Nigerian wisdom does not work in the west. All those “na-true-o” does not work abroad. Nigerians are black people not yet deconstructed and reconstructed into the subjugated black mode. So long as Nigerians continue to think and act as white people do, Nigerians will continue to face great racisms and stereotyping  until they conform.

Nairaland / General / Re: What Has Nairaland Taught You? by alias64: 4:56pm On Aug 22, 2009
It reinforced the low regard I had for the indigenes of many African countries.

Reinforced my fears that obsessive criticism does not in fact lead to improvement but leads to negative self-fulfilment.

It reinforced my thoughts that there are many perverts in Nigeria who appear to derive such great pleasure from abusing themselves and their families they encourage others to abuse they and their families (weird)

Reinforced my views that many Africans are educated but few are enlightened.

Reinforced my views that one of African peoples’ great mistakes is a failure to understand their struggles within the context of a wider black political movement and experience.

In fact, it taught me nothing.

RIP sad

On cursory glance, the advice Nigerians should behave themselves while in China, Malaysia or elsewhere seem like a solid one. On second and third glances, however, the advice seem  to morph on the page. Misbehaving and breaking the law are two different things entirely but have been wrapped up as one in the sentiment of the advice.  I feel that Nigerians should behave exactly as they want so long as they do not break the law. Politeness would be nice but rudeness, brashness or arrogance is not against any law I know. That it is reasonable to suggest to a man to take into account the nature of the people he deals with, goes without saying, but it is highly suspect to suggest that if he does not, and harm arises on account, he is at fault. In part, Laws arose to clarify just such grey arias of society. Human rights, especially in terms of commonsense notion, are complex issues since they are based on perspective. However, most humans would accept in this modern world that it is not acceptable for one individual to take the life of another because of a dispute much less organisations of the superstructure. When it does happen, the Courts deal with civil disputes that end in deaths and courts and international laws are supposed to do the same in the case of organisations of the superstructure.

The flaw in the advice that Nigerians should behave themselves while in foreign lands beyond the call of law or they deserve all they get, arises largely because of two sentiments. The first is CONDITIONING and the second anti-Nigerian feelings.   The first, i base on the concept that many Africans have been conditioned by centuries of oppression to defer to a “higher” none African authority. A pertinent encapsulation would be this: “white/yellow/brown man good and deserving, black man not deserving”.  I mean that Africans tend to not judge other races by uniform standards. Instead, they make excuses for them and wag the finger of accusation at the black man.

Informed by this knowledge, the advice to Nigerians that they should behave themselves while in foreign climate begins to look incomplete. An amended advice should go something like this. While in China or elsewhere do not break the law. However, it is not enough not to break the law. Be additionally informed that the Chinese are a barbaric and primitive people who do not respect human life.

Apart from the above, I think I would advise Nigerians thinking  of  traveling abroad for the first time not to be fooled by the ideas handed to them by the media or misguided relatives who live abroad. People are no more civilised in Europe, America, Asia or china than in Nigeria, their societies are only better organised. In most instances, “civilised” just means more control and better detection. It is dangerous to go abroad with the idea that since they are more developed than we in Africa, my rights will be safeguarded and I will be safe. Nigeria is often a safer place to live in and perhaps because of our cultural softness we’re in many ways more civilised peoples.

Do not act subserviently because this is un-Nigerian, however try to be civil to your fellow human being whoever they may be.

Would Nigeria have performed worst if they had just picked anyone from the streets and sent them to compete at the games? angry angry angry

I once read an article on Nigeria preparing their athletes for a major competition and the coach was at pain to point out how scientific was the preparation including the fact that everyone ate pasta and vegetables, which was all the rage at European clubs like AC Milan etc. Watching Nigeria continually perfume worst and worst  in Athletics, every year, I cant help thinking that they should return to eating  eba, ewa, yam,  and green plantains. Nothing good ever comes from copying what whites do.

In addition, the athletes don’t seem to care. Maybe here is proof that we complain too much as a nation. Blaming government for everything furnishes people with a sort of already-made excuse so that no one need try anymore. In other words, no one will accuse me of not trying if I do not try because they will blame government or some other authority for my fallibilities.

The arrogance, which many find in us Nigerians and denounce in arenas where unjust, they overlook here where more deserved. For is it not the height of damnable arrogance to seek solution in that theatre- war – where so many African states have shown example of futility.

[b]to stop  abusing, and racially stereotyping her people

This post was originaly intended for the Libya thread.

I was going to apologise beforehand about going on and on about the stuff below but I believe the message must be rammed home repeatedly; We must stop! I know that it has become like a drug but we have to wean ourselves of it, go cold turkey, and emerge with new ways to criticise without falling into the trap of thinking outright abuse and racist stereotyping are the same as criticisms. Hell, I am not even ambitious; I am not calling for constructive criticisms but just for and end to self-abuse.

Things Nigerians say:

We are thieves. We are the most corrupt people in the world. The Nigerian is the most evil and wicked person on the planet. We’re worst than Hitler’s Nazis. We’re demonic. Nigerian women are prostitutes (al-queda). That devils country. Nigerians are cowards. We are moronic individuals. Every single Nigerian person is corrupt: father, mother, daughter brother and even newborn baby. Nigerians practice bestiality. Idiotic nation. Nigeria is Hell.  we’re kleptomaniacs.  All Nigerians are liars. Nigeria is a dung-heap. .

Then there is that silly No-Records argument, which goes like this:

There are no records but if there were records, Nigeria would be the most paedophilic nation in the world. There are no records but if there were, Nigeria would be the nation that commits the most rapes in the world. There are no records but it there was Nigeria commits the most genocide in the world. There are no records but if there was, Nigerians kill and dump more street children on waste tips than does Brazil, Columbia or any other country.

In relation to this Libya story (true-or not) or the growing maltreatment of Nigerians worldwide, we’re all more responsible than the government‘s shortcomings for these actions against us. The government aren’t the ones going around legitimising fears and styrypes against Nigerians.

Here’s a warning, the more we abuse ourselves publicly and for the world media, as we’re doing, the worst things will become. The truth” which is not convenient for some Nigerians because it is our chief accusatory weapon, is that when it comes to “corruption” Nigeria is an armature. Our condition of living in Nigeria although poor is so much better than in many countries and when we whinge publicly about our condition, peoples of other Nationality raise an eyebrow and inside their minds think we are show-offs. We are naïve people that come from a much safer environment than we realise. However, these other nationalities will listen to what we say and use it against us later because no one relay cares about other people problems or sympathise with them.

As I wrote before, we’re turning ourselves into the perfect victims. For century’s people who have shown the acumen that we Nigerians truly have, which is intelligence, hardworking and enterprising, such peoples have often been prosecuted. The Jews, the Chinese in Southeast Asia, the Syrians and so on. However, all these peoples have had their champions, but we Nigerians are different, we do not have anyone championing us. First, we’re black people. The world does not like or has not yet come to terms with black people who aren’t deferring. In America, such black Americans who were like us, they were called Uppity Blacks. Secondly, we have naively stereotyped ourselves, often subconsciously, appropriating the terms used by whites to stereotype black Americans in readiness to create laws to oppress them. Thirdly, we do not seem to have grasped the fact that most people in the world including blacks, are subconsciously influenced by white sentiments. For this reasons, they, fellow blacks, will be at the forefront of using those negative stereotypes against us. This is why you often hear blacks from elsewhere asking us Nigerians, “Why is it that nobody like you people?”

Finally, a warning to all those Africans that pretend to be Nigerians and go around spreading malicious rumours and underscoring racist notions.  Many West Africans use Nigerians passports, when it gets worst, as it is bound to get and Nigerians are executed on trumped up charges, acts legitimised by our own abusive mouths, many of you will be victims too. I bet it has happend many times already. When it gets worst, no African will be safe because any African person can be Nigerian (although we’re better looking) and a Nigerian can be any African. Next time it could be you!

Nex
Your friend Collier believes that it is the human right of every African country to be engulfed by civil war. May his country delve into civil war. In most of these European and American countries, more than 20% of their population are already fully armed. May they find what their eye is looking in their backyards.

Yeah, the only thing missing in that article, as one of the causes of strife in Africa, is how, invariably, your typical ill educated African, who thinks him or herself enlightened, picks up and runs with some idea or other muted by some political think-tank abroad. From Christianity and Islam to placing ideas of civil wars in our heads…

Manure is very little used in farming today. Chemical fertilizer is used instead!

The natural world, the one  ultimately important to human survival or extinction, depends on old fashioned carrion and manure

Nevertheless, that is beside the point. Unfortunately you took and aside of mine and sort to be smart-assed about it and in response I was only trying to show you that nothing is as simple as you want to believe.

And as Nex is trying to show you, in real terms comparisons with Nigeria, taking the history of America into account Nigeria would emerge in better light.

In all this, I ignore Ghana; she is irrelevant and small to Nigerians. However, good luck to her.
Politics / Re: Nigeria: Ghana Plans To Be Major Electricity Exporter To Nigeria, Others by alias64: 1:06pm On Aug 10, 2009
Oh, I see, you mean that, as there are over 150 million Nigerians i.e. there most be a lot of shiting going on. Well that’s a strange way of looking at things.  In any case, America has over 303,824,640 people so, to borrow your puerile way of seeing things, there is a whole load more shit in America. That America is shitier than Nigeria! LOL

But what has this quaint imagery got to do with the fact that you are refusing to accept that manure is necessary for human survival? And that it is in fact more valuable than gold.

If you are correct that manure is more valuable than gold, Nigeria must be the wealthiest nation on the planet

What you stated makes no sense to me.

Manure is in fact more valuable than gold. Without manure, the world would cease to exist. Fact

Nigeria must be the wealthiest nation on earth because of manure. Makes no sense.

You have the mentality of those primitives who on seeing white people for the first time handed over to them their children in exchange for the miracle of a looking-glass. You’re blind and have my pity.

Ironically, the value of gold surpasses that of horshsit because of this world of America and Europe, otherwise, in human terms, manure is more valuable than gold.

Politics / Re: Nigeria: Ghana Plans To Be Major Electricity Exporter To Nigeria, Others by alias64: 12:36am On Aug 10, 2009

All this, “Nigeria is a failing state” stuff is just a slight of hand trick

Most countries in the world are on the failing states lists; it just depends where on it your country appears.

For example, United States is ranked 159 on the list

So one could conceivably argue that America may be on the failing states list but I would like to visit sometime
