INEC office in Ibesikpo Asutan LGA of Akwa Ibom State has been gutted by fire, a day to a crucial governorship and house of assembly elections in the state.
The cause of the fire remains unknown for now.
A security guard who was on duty at the INEC office told PREMIUM TIMES the fire started around 2 a.m. on Friday.
“We heard an explosion inside the building, when we rushed to check what it was, we saw flames of fire coming from one of the rooms,” the guard said.

Several card readers meant for use in the Saturday’s elections have been destroyed by the fire, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.

A transgender man who gave birth to a baby boy says being pregnant cemented their bond, but admits he wouldn't do it again after receiving 'daily abuse and judgement' from strangers.
Wyley Simpson, 28, who lives in Texas with fiancé, Stephen Gaeth, 28, began transitioning to male from female at the age of 21. .

Despite taking testosterone therapy and being told by doctors that he could not fall pregnant as he had stopped having periods, the couple discovered he was pregnant in February 2018. Although they initially did not feel ready to become parents, Wyley carried through with his pregnancy - while battling abuse and judgement from strangers on a daily basis. .
In September 2018, Wyley gave birth to their 7lb 5oz son, Rowan, via emergency C-section, and admits all of the comments were worth it- but he wouldn't go through it again.The couple have just celebrated their son reaching the six-month mark, and have revealed what pregnant life and parenthood is like.

Wyley, who still has a vagina and female reproductive organs, gave birth by caesarean section six months ago after an emotionally draining pregnancy.
Speaking about the pregnancy, he said: 'It's not every day that someone sees a pregnant man walking down the road, so we received a fair amount of abuse.

A 25-year-old Man begins trek from Kebbi to Abuja to celebrate President Buhari’s re-election .

Tukur Aliyu, an indigene of Argungu local government of Kebbi State, told newsmen that he had vowed to trek for President Buhari and the APC if they win or lose the presidential election.
The young man only carried a small bag containing one bowl of garri, some sugar, beans cake and a total cash of N1,500 as his basic requirement for the long trip.
He also said when he finally reaches Abuja, he would be glad if he could see President Buhari to congratulate him on his re-election..

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he would retire to Daura after he completes his second term in office in 2023.

Daura, which is in Katsina State, is the President’s hometown.

He spoke in Abuja while meeting with traditional rulers at the Presidential Villa, welcoming them to his “Second and final term, at the end of which I will, God willing, go to Daura and settle down.”.

Weeks after our report about the alleged crash of actress Yvonne Jegede’s one year old marriage to Olakunle Abounce Fawole aka Abounce, the Nollywood veteran has now opened up about the crisis.

The actress came clean in an interview with Pulse, saying she quit the marriage, three months after she got pregnant with her son. We had reported that the issue allegedly stemmed from the paternity of the child.

"We started having issues before the birth of Xavier. I think I was about two to three months pregnant when the issues came. Immediately the issues came, there was never a dull moment, it just kept going up and up and it got worse and it got bad and today here we are," Yvonne said.

She added that when the issues became obvious and irredeemable she moved out of their matrimonial home after a mutual agreement.

"Right now, we are not living together, and we are not living as husband and wife, we are not husband and wife anymore and I would say a mutual agreement to go our separate ways. It didn't work out, it wasn't working out," she noted.

However, the actress revealed that her marriage to Abounce was worth it for the months it lasted. She said the times they shared together as a couple were nice and sweet so she wouldn't trample on those times..

#DinoMelaye gets N5m bail over attempted suicide

Senator Dino Melaye was, Tuesday, docked by the police over allegations bordering on attempted suicide, attempt to escape from custody and damage of police property.

The senator, however, denied the charges and was subsequently admitted to a N5m bail with two sureties in like sum stands.

The prosecuting counsel, Dr Alex Izinyon (SAN), had told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences on April 24. He said Dino, while being conveyed in a police vehicle to Lokoja, forced his way out and escaped.
Izinyon further said that the defendant sat on the ground, holding a substance in one hand threatening to drink it to kill himself so that he can put the police officers in trouble.

He also said that the defendant broke the glass of the vehicle with his elbow and caused damage to police property.
