Being the official bank of the State government, Barrister Halliday approached Wema bank PLC to effect the N50 Million Naira court judgment payment in his favour, only to be told that the drafts could not be lodged, because it bounced as the government's account had no money at all in it.

He further disclosed that the bank started with series of intimidation, threats to life after he refused to settle for a 10 Million Naira option to drop the case and walk away.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time, the accused has been fingered in cases bothering on fraud, as report gathered revealed that a group had in January 2022, urged CBN to dismiss him for grossly abusing his office as CEO of Wema Bank and contravening several extant regulations of the CBN.

Nairaland / General / Lokoja: ALGON Secretary General, muhammed Gives 200 JAMB Form To Students by Amyy24: 11:07am On Mar 01, 2022
In his usual patriotic act of giving and selflessness, the Secretary-General of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Muhammed Ibukun Abubakar Bukky, has on Saturday, commenced the distribution of free Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board, JAMB, forms to prospective candidates from Lokoja local government area.

The Kogi State APC Cheiftain, speaking to newsmen, disclosed that he has plans underway to also reward the best performing candidates in the JAMB examination, to further encourage them to put in their best in the examination.

Muhammed, describing the gesture as his “Education Support Programme” to support parents and students in the LGA, said he is motivated to embark on the exercise because there are so many brilliant students from poor homes who may wish to further their education to a more higher level, but cannot do so because their parents cannot afford the fees.

“There are also orphans who have lost their parents without having anyone to cater for them educationally,” he said.

The ALGON scribe, also revealed that his team went round the local government area for enlightenment, screening and data capturing for the free JAMB forms so as to ensure that it is given to those who really need it and cannot afford it.

More than 200 beneficiaries were at the registration centre in Lokoja at the weekend to get registered for the entrance examination courtesy of the ALGON Secretary-General’s laudable provision.

Parents and students, who spoke with newsmen, were full of appreciation to the philanthropist, describing him as a true son of Lokoja.

Meanwhile that's not his only area of philantropism as he had in recent times settled the medical bills of indigent patients in Lokoja.

Nairaland / General / ALGON IMC Distance Self From Otunba, Others, Says Forum Is Double-faced by Amyy24: 3:50pm On Feb 22, 2022
………….Petitions IGP, DSS

The Interim Management Committee on Tuesday distanced itself from leadership of the Forum of Mobile Advert Practitioners of Nigeria, Otunba Mike O. Eboziegbe on the basis of compromisation.
According to earlier report, leadership of the Interim Management Committee engaged the activities of the forum to act as taskforce of enforcement on the use of the emblem against multiple taxation which was implemented to provide safety, security, surveillance, logistic support and emergency rescue on Nigerian roads, an action which is line with the constitutional responsibility of Nigerian Local governments as enshrined in the 4th Schedule of the 1999 Constitution (As Amended).

Describing the forum as one which has been compromised in a statement made available to newsmen, the IMC decried moves made by Otunba to sabotage plans it had already set in motion urging the general public to be wary of the above mentioned person.

It reads: “The Interim Management Committee of ALGON is on this day and by this press statement, distancing itself from the activities of the Forum of Mobile Advert Practitioners under the leadership of one Mr. Otunba Mike O. Eboziegbe, the said person who was earlier contracted to act as an intermediary between the association and concerned stakeholders on issues as regards to multiple taxation, breached contract and also involved himself with the Alabi led faction, all in a bid to utilize the crisis besieging the association to generate funds for himself and cronies.

“Otunba was engaged by the IMC and letter of engagement conveyed to him on the 8th day of December, 2021, in furtherance to enabling the forum carryout its activities appropriately, a newspaper publication was even made on a National Daily Vanguard Newspapers precisely on the 19th day of January 2022, disclaiming the illegal activities of Joint Mobile Sanitation Agency of Nigeria (JOMSAN), still went against the terms of agreement with aim of tarnishing the image of the IMC through his involvement with the debunked illegal faction under the management of Hon. Kolade David Alabi of Bariga Local Development Area Council in Lagos.

“We are amazed at how Otunba allowed himself to be easily swayed to follow the path of injustice because of few peanuts; what happened to his claims of wanting to uphold justice? Perhaps everyman has a price. Furthermore, to ensure that our stand is respected, we have also written a petition of falsification, connivance, fraud and threat to life against the forum to the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the Department of State Security in this regard.” It added.

Politics / ALGON Crisis: IMC Fumes, Issues Vote Of No Confidence On Ategbero Led BOT by Amyy24: 10:58pm On Feb 06, 2022
As crisis besieging the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria ALGON deepens, the Interim Management Committee led by Hon. Abdullahi Maje has blasted the Board of Trustee led by Hon. Odunayo Ategbero for being bias.

The IMC also issuing a vote of no confidence on the BOT, stated that contrary to being guardians of the association, with core mandate of protecting and maintaining the values and purposes of the association, they have rather taken sides with Alabi led faction, thereby fueling the existing crisis in the association.

Reacting to the recent online publications against its leadership by the BOT and Kolade Alabi led faction in a publication signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jide Ashonibaire, the IMC revealed that the Hon. Ategbero led board of trustees has continued to thread the path of sabotage, and negative selfish interest in the whole battle for supremacy.

The IMC calling for the resignation of Hon. Ategbero led members, says it is rather too astonished that the BOT is supporting the leadership of a man who deceitfully gained the position of the national preesident. It further disclosed that the BOT has shown through their actions total disregard for the constitution that guides the association.

It said: "Again, we are utterly amazed at the recent negative actions of the BOT of the association who are supposed to be guardians of the constitution that binds us together as an association. The BOT led by Hon. Odunayo Ategbero, has continued to show selfishness and plans to enrich themselves through their nonchalance in creating a solution that would or could end the crisis besieging the association.
"When a BOT who is supposed to protect, continues to destroy and fuel crisis by being bias, greedy and meddling in media propaganda against a faction, it goes to show that it has taken sides and now has an interest which is to enrich their pockets. We are fully aware that people enjoy crisis and wouldnt want an end to it even when presented with an opportunity because they enjoy leveraging on the vulnerability of those involved to better their lives. The above assertion is the case of the Hon. Ategbero led BOT of ALGON.

"We wish to by this media address, state that the recent online public disclaimer signed by the BOT against the IMC is false, very unsubstantiated and does not bear water. The IMC was never dissolved by any court of competent jurisdiction, it was infact set up by the General Assembly to salvage the association which has been hijacked by a man who isn't a Local Government Chairman, but rather a Local Council Development Area chairman, bariga precisely.
"They said Maje is not a chairman of Niger State, permit me to reiterate that the assertion is a total lie because Hon. Abdullahi Maje Shuaibu is a bonafide Local Government Chairman of Niger state, Suleja Lga against the purported council chairman. Alabi led faction and the BOT are group of persons who thrives on propaganda, they use it to sway the interest of the unsuspecting general public from seeking answers to more relevant criminal offences they have continued to perpetrate in the association, one being the 5.2 billion naira funds diverted by Hon. Kolade David Alabi, Mrs Binta and perhaps the BOT who by their actions have shown that they may be aware of the criminality.

"As a collective body, the trustees hold the authority and responsibility to ensure the fulfillment of an association's mission; but by the actions of Hon. Ategbero they have further drifted the association far from achieving its mission. Again let it be known that the court never dissolved the IMC, rather it seeked for refilling of the suit seeking nullification of Alabi’s leadership, as the earlier suit which was dated 21st March was overdue as a result of court going on recess.

" They have continued to mislead the public with false publications, let it be known however that the IMC is fully ready to counter every negative story and bring to limelight the truth, Alabi stole 5.2 billion naira from the association, he is imposing leadership on Chairmen, in turn chairmen are crying out for help because its is never heard of that a LCDA chairman who by rank is beneath them is rather ruling the association, thereby also ruling them.

"For clarification, the Interim Management Committee of ALGON as a responsible and responsive committee, wishes the federal government, general public, the anti-graft agencies to please note that:
1. the IMC led by Hon. Abdullahi Maje still stands and was never nullified nor dissolved.
2. Yes we have Inaugurated an electoral committee to conduct elections for credible leadership for the association as instructed by the General Assembly. (Our action is transparent and very much in the news)
3. Alabi led faction and the BOT is bent on misrepresenting court judgement to massage their ego and divert public attention from their criminal activities in the association.
4. Alabi is a Local Council Development Area chairman from Bariga in Lagos State not a Local Government Chairman.
5. BOT led by Hon. Ategbero has been bought over by Alabi and Co. hence a vote of no confidence is therefore passed on them, infact we are calling for their resignation.
6. Alabi, Binta and cohorts diverted 5.2 billion naira funds meant for the association.
7. Finally to put lies to the claims by the criminal minded, disgruntled BOT
Chairman who in his press release stated that Abudulahi Shaibu Maje is not a NEC member or Algon representative from Niger state, we shall be presenting documents to debunk and further expose the incompetence of the self acclaimed bot" It added.

Politics / ALGON-CRISIS: STOP Your Campaign Of Calumny- IMC Tells Alabi Led Faction by Amyy24: 2:48pm On Feb 01, 2022
. ........Engage us in a one on one interview on National TV- IMC dares Alabi, Malik

As crisis continues to besiege the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, the Interim Management Committee has reacted and criticized an interview on AIT which featured the embattled chief of staff of the Alabi Led faction, Itiako Malik Ikpokpo and one self-acclaimed civil society practitioner identified as Donald Ayibiowu.
According to IMC, the interview which was done on AIT on the Democracy Today programme hosted by Madam Ijeoma Osamor in good faith to grant the general public an insight on what is going on in the association, was rather hijacked by Mr. Ikpokpo a self-personified tout who takes glory in bringing disrepute to the association. It also disclosed that Ikpokpo a well-known violent man was invited to feature in an interview, rather than serve the purpose of which he was invite, he resorted to reeling insults to both the journalist and the platform because he had earlier expected that things would go the way he wanted.

In a statement signed and made available to newsmen on Saturday, by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jide Ashonibaire, the IMC described the accusations made by Mr. Itiako Malik Ikpokpo and Donald Ayibiowu against the IMC, Hon Abdullahi Maje and their activities as unfounded, unsubstantiated and a total campaign of calumny.
“Our Attention has been drawn again to the Out of Point answers given by the embattled CSO of the Alabi led faction and his cohort, Donald Ayibiowu during an interview on the Democracy Today programme hosted on AIT by Madam Ijeoma Osamor, we are shocked at the display of tout-like behavior by the supposed chief of staff and the false accusations especially on the office of the Governor of Niger State, His Excellency Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello and his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe made by the acclaimed civil society practitioner.

The Civil Society Practitioner, who according to his action and words was presumed to be sympathetic and bias on National Television revealed that he has in his possession a public disclaimer from the consented to by the governor of Niger state and issued by his chief of staff, this is the same man who was our legal counsel when the IMC was created, because of greed he was paid almost 100,000,000 million naira to betray the IMC, an action which he did to his own advantage, thereby turning in to Alabi’s camp documents belonging to the association. It amazes us that Donald Ayibiowu is claiming to being a civil society practitioner when infact he is just a stooge bought over by the faction to taint the image of the IMC through his misuse of words and misrepresentation of facts (There are documents to show that he was working for the IMC). The question now is “When was such disclaimer issued? was it real? How come it is not in the public domain and was presented on a national television on such a short notice? The above questions should be duly answered by Mr. Donald in 24 hours or await our response and court suit in that direction. A civil society practitioner should not stand to lie against a government because of few peanuts, this seems to be the case of the acclaimed civil society practitioners.

“Where is Alabi? How come a man who has hijacked power, cannot been seen to represent the office he occupies in events, important government functions, interviews and court sessions even when he is invited for over 2 years and counting? Permit me to inform the general public that this is not the first time Alabi have been invited to come face to face with the IMC in an interview both on national dailies and televisions such as Arise, AIT and others? Why is he avoiding discussions that concerns his supposed leadership? These are questions that needs immediate answers. Alabi sent his lapdog, Malik or maybe the later took the stride by himself because from his actions in the association, one can believe that he is the de-facto president, a position which he dutifully takes pride in.

“Malik and the entire Alabi faction has involved themselves in a thorough campaign of calumny, Malik has single handedly changed the constitution of the association but also that of Nigeria, the document he has laid bare on the programme dated 27th of September 2021, was a faux, the IMC is meant to believe that they have gone below the belt to forge Hon. Abdullahi Maje’s signature to indict him in a letter requesting for 3.1 billion naira be deducted from local government funds to a contractor, this is because they want to distract the unsuspecting public from the 5.2 billion naira that was diverted from the association. We dare Malik to release the ministry the letter was sent to, the person it was addressed to and a copy of the letter be tendered to the host for public view (He refused to tender the document to the host when she asked for it). Let it be known that Hon. Abdullahi Maje did not sign and send out any of such letter to any ministry requesting for deductions of such outrageous amount for any consultant.

“The IMC is by this press statement challenging Alabi, Malik and cohorts to a face to face debate on the same programme, all are thereby advised to come with their documents and facts for accuracy and transparency. The IMC have had enough of Alabi and his shenanigans, the lies told by Malik, Ayibiowu on national television is a blow below the belt and if they are so sure of the lies called facts they tendered on the programme, again, they shouldn’t relent coming live face to face, one on one with us to clarify the issues and know the side with the truth. Malik has no respect for women, it was clearly exposed by the derogatory statements, words and body language he used on the host just to cower her into giving them a smooth landing for their propaganda; we are however very happy that the host, a woman who knows her job and stand on the true ethics of the profession did not allow the actions, words of either CSO or Civil society practitioner deter her from asking appropriate questions.

“Malik claims that Alabi does not have any knowledge of the alleged diversion of 5.2 billion naira of funds from the accounts of the association, how then was he and his cronies involved in account opening and payment processes with First Bank PLC account number 2034749191 (We have a document of the account opening process), deducting monies from accounts of local governments without their knowledge or consent? If Malik claims Supreme Court has given Alabi rights, where is he getting allocations from? Or has FG started funding and crediting Alabi’s LCDA? It is a well-known fact that at the moment only 20 LGA gets allocation from the Federal Government. Notwithstanding their accusations against the IMC can never stand, as we are fully pumped by it and even more determined to push for the truth.

“Against the earlier claims of Niger State being against Hone. Maje, we wish to let the general public know that we have documents in our possession signed by all the local governments in Niger State signed in support of Maje, we also have a document duly signed by the Hon. Commissioner of Local Governments signed for Maje, we therefore challenge them again to provide the documents and public disclaimer signed by the COS Niger State against Maje, or tender an unreserved apology to Niger State Government, Hon. Abdullahi Maje and the IMC”. It added.

The IMC however stated that contrary to the accusations that it’s leadership is after money, it has never for once enforced or deduct monies from the accounts of the local governments.

Politics / Abuja: ALGON Officially Inaugurates Seven-member Electoral Committee by Amyy24: 8:50am On Jan 29, 2022

Maje, during inauguration charged committee members to expedite action in conducting the election.

The electoral committee members includes; Hon. Timothy Oyedokun, from Ogbomosho South LGA in Oyo State- South West, Hon. Engr. Felix Ogbonnaya Igboke from Onicha LGA in Ebonyi State- South East and Hon. Anyatuonwu Ike from Isialangwa South LGA in Abia State- South East, Barr. Fabian Ogbeche from Yala LGA in Cross River State- South South, Hon. Bakaru Adamu from Damaturu LGA in Yobe State- North East, Hon. SalisuIsah Dangulbi from Maru LGA in Zamfara State–North West, Hon. Mrs. Hassana Jezhi Bako from Kotton-Karffi LGA in Kogi State- North Central.

Speaking while inaugurating the committee, the IMC Chairman said: “Today’s meeting is very important because it involves the inauguration of the Electoral Committee to conduct election that will bring to an end what we have been going through in the last two years.

“The interim management committee was inaugurated few years ago when the General Assembly came together and dissolved the then leadership of Kolade Alabi, the LCDA Chairman and his deputy. We all know that LCDAs are not part of the 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs) we have in Nigeria.

“They are not recognised by either the Nigeria Constitution or by the Constitution of ALGON. And that was why the General Assembly of ALGON, comprising the Chairmen, Vice Chairmen and Councillors decided to dissolve that leadership and set up the IMC headed by my humble self. Ever since then, we have been from one court to the other even as I speak with you.

“Since we cannot continue this way, we decided, as part of our responsibilities as IMC, to set up Electoral Committee to conduct election to usher in new leadership from within the 774 LGAs.

“As I formally inaugurate the Committee, I charge you to conduct the election within the shortest period of time. I urge anybody from the 774 LGAs who wish to contest to get across to the Electoral Committee and do the necessary thing,” he added.

The committee chairman Timothy Oyedokun, in response assured the IMC that they will strive to make integrity their watchword in the discharge of the responsibility given to them.

“On behalf of the committee, I wish to formally accept the responsibility given to us. It is a big task you have given us, but I believe we can deliver. We intend to be transparent, follow the guidelines set by the national body as regards electioneering and more importantly, we will meet up with the deadline.

“I commend you, Mr Chairman, because you are on trajectory for an epic history today. We want to thank all the members of the IMC for making today a reality. I assure you that the confidence you reposed in us will not be regretted,” Oyedoken assured.

Meanwhile, the IMC also faulted the Association Board of Trustee chaired by Hon. Ategbero Michael Odunayo for supporting men who have illegally hijacked the association. It stated that the BOT who are supposed to act as guardians, protecting and maintaining the core values, purposes of the association are now acting as nuisance because of some peanuts.

However, the IMC further urged the BOT to assist their fight in upholding truth, transparency, tranquility, good leadership and accountability for the interest of the association.

Politics / 2023 Presidency:tnf Pledges Solidarity, Drums Support For BAT by Amyy24: 1:24pm On Jan 25, 2022
......Sets February 12th for Official Inauguration of Exco Members

Ahead of the 2023 presidential elections, a support group identified as Tinubu National Frontiers has on Tuesday, pledged solidarity while officially canvassing support for the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The support group in a press statement signed by the National Director of Media and Publicity, Dr Clement Otu, revealed that the basis of their support for Tinubu is not only because the crown fits him perfectly but because the transformation witnessed in Lagos State was a result of his efforts, stating that if the former governor could transform Lagos, he could as well effectively transform Nigeria to being the true giant of the nation.

Recall Tinubu, a former Lagos governor, has indicated interest in succeeding Muhammadu Buhari as President of Nigeria come 2023.
The statement reads; "Nigeria is a strategic country in the Comity of Nations. Economically we have the best brains *spread* all over the world helping build other nations' economies. In every spheres of endeavor we have our citizens thriving - sports, entertainment, science, *Banking & Finance, Agriculture,* and even in religion.
"Politically, Nigeria is even more strategic to the world because should anything happen negatively, it will affect the whole world. Presently, Nigeria has the biggest market as the most populous Nation in Africa and many nations have been attracted to invest here.
Should serious political instability occur here, then the foreign investors would withdraw their investments which will lead to automatic loss of income both locally and internationally.

"To avoid such political instability, as President Buhari is preparing to exit from the Aso Villa, the issue of who becomes the next *Commander in Chief* becomes very imperative. It is for this singular reason that the *Tinubu National Frontiers (TNF)* has emerged to join the uncountable voices in Nigeria to plead with His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu *THE JAGABAN OF AFRICA* not to turn his back on Nigeria and Nigerians now that we desperately need him to rescue the country from disintegration and Nigeria to greater heights.

"TNF is led by a very sound and adequately informed National Coordinator in the person of Hajiya Yesmine Binta Sabeh. She has been in politics since the days of Action for Democracy (AD) when the Jagaban of Africa was the governor of Lagos State, the fifth largest economy in Africa. She has followed him till date. TNF is composed of very bright minds, men and women of timber and caliber who are committed to the cause of supporting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to become the next President of Nigeria on May 29, 2023 insha Allah.

"TNF has a solid national structure and a network of followers across the whole country and we will not rest until our principal takes over the herm of affairs in Aso Rock Villa. We're aware that becoming a President 'is not bricklaying' to borrow the phrase from His Excellency, Kashim Shettima, the erstwhile governor of Borno State and a present serving Senator in the National Assembly during the merger ceremony of all Tinubu support groups under the umbrella called Support Groups Management Council (SGMC) recently at the International Conference Center, Abuja.

Nairaland / General / Alabi’s Gate: Algon-imc Speaks On 5.2bn Diversion, Petitions EFCC, ICPC (See Doc by Amyy24: 12:07am On Jan 15, 2022
Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of Association of Local Government of Nigeria, Hon. Abdullahi Maje in an interview with AIT on the Democracy Today show on Tuesday reiterated how the dissolved Alabi Kolade David faction stole 5.2 billion naira funds meant for the 774 lga through diversion for personal use.

The IMC describing the action of Alabi and his cronies as an action aimed at destroying the image of the association, revealed that it has in the line with the interview and that of attaining justice and uplifting the trampled image of the association, filed a fresh petition to the Economic Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission to investigate and probe the above mentioned and his cronies.

In a statement signed and made available to newsmen on Thursday by the Publicity Secretary, the IMC implored the anti-graft agencies to uphold justice by performing duties in line of justice. It said “We are still concerned on why some people are still allowed to parade freely in the society especially after discovering their criminal tendency or activities. This is the umpteenth time we are calling out Alabi and co for their fraudulent practices in the association they hijacked leadership from, these persons stole from the association by diverting over five billion naira funds meant for the 774 local government from the federation account.

“Our Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Shuaibu Maje duly answered invitation from major electronic media AIT on their Democracy Today Show aired on Tuesday, to speak on the diversion because we do not have anything to hide and we have evidence backing up our claims; permit me to say that the accused persons who were supposed to use the medium (we heard they were also invited) were nowhere found in the premise and on air, either because they can’t stand the truth, very scared of the media or because they are fully aware that there secrets will be made open on national television attracting a vote of no confidence from the general public.

“Alabi, Binta and co through the association, demanded for refund of funds meant for the 774 local government debited from the federation account by the use of auditors such as Impecca Services Limited and HRH Eze Samuel Ezekwo (Trading under the name and style of Chuks Samuel & co) and Chief Chikwe Udensi. The said auditors and representatives upon auditing the accounts, were able to secure the sum of N5,240,516,182.21 (Five Billion, Two Hundred and Forty Million, Five Hundred and Sixteen Thousand, One Hundred and Eighty-Six Naira, Twenty-One kobo) as the outstanding sum wrongly debited from the federation account been monies debited. The sum recovered was khowever not remitted to the accounts of the 774 local governments but rather diverted through connivance by Alabi and Binta to an account registered with First Bank of Nigeria.” It added.

The IMC revealing that through the fraudulent practices, Alabi and Binta, managed to secure a consent judgement to aid the sharing of the amount between themselves and the consultants, however begged the anti-graft agencies to spiral things by duly investigating the claims as enough evidence has been set aside to aid the investigations and effect prosecution.

Nairaland / General / Enugu LG Polls: Concerned Stakeholders Blow Hot, Faults Ugwuanyi’s Indecisions by Amyy24: 1:30pm On Jan 12, 2022
• Alleges plan by governor to create confusion, chaos

Some Concerned Stakeholders in Ezeagu Local Government Enugu State, has alleged that Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is on the verge of creating chaos with his decision of not following due diligence to ensure the tenets of democracy is achieved in the forthcoming local government scheduled to hold in February, 2022.

According to the concerned stakeholders, the governor who isn’t so happy that the candidacy was zoned to Ezeagu South, refused to allow zoning to the appropriate block in the south, seeking that random selection be made in the south without appropriate consideration of those who are yet to vye or occupy political position; an action they described as one which will disenfranchise the whole LG electoral process in the state and further create major crisis.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday, the CS said “We are very unhappy and concerned about the recent development ahead of the scheduled 2022 Local Government Polls, especially the nonchalant attitude of the governor, His Excellency Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in zoning issues.

“In Ezeagu we have three blocks consisting of; Ezeagu Central, North and South, the first and second, since inception of the recent democracy in 1999, have ruled for like 12 and 8 years respectively, it is Therefore time for Ezeagu South to take over the mantle of leadership; a decision which was unanimously resolved after the Ezeagu general meeting held on the 5th of January, 2022; we are however confused as to why the governor is indirectly rejecting the zoning and trying to create pre-electoral crisis and territorial control.

“On a better note for in-depth clarification, Ezeagu South comprises of three blocks; Umana, Obinofia and Umumba. Ummana has in fair treatment sons who have occupied/ or occupying sensitive elected political positions, same goes to Obinofia. From the above assertion, it is only fair that it goes to Umumba in order for democracy balance and fairness.

“It is important to also state that last two years when it was zoned to Central, the Governor said specifically that it should go to mgbagbuowa because they never had a chairman; now we wonder why the Governor refused to allow zoning in the Ezeagu South to be futher zoned to Umumba, he is now campaigning zoning of gubernatorial slot of Enugu state. If the Governor is depriving Umumba from producing chairman what is his interest? last time when it was given to the central on a platter of gold, he specifically asked the deputy governor who is from the central to nominate a candidate of her own choice from mgbagbuowa that has never occupied the position; Again, The question is why is Ugwanyi allowing him self to be used by his Chief of Staff Rt Hon Dr. festus Uzor who has interest of contesting for Election? We keep on wondering if the Governor is under a spell, because his Chief of Staff in collaboration with the Deputy Governor with their political plans for national assembly, are conniving to build a structure by setting up their own man for the position of a chairman so as to ease their entry into the national assembly in due time. For the interest of the public both the Deputy and COS, are not from the South; I repeat they have no business with Ezeagu South, but because of the indecision of the Governor, they are in their element boasting to everyone who cares to listen, that Ezeagu South has nobody in the government to speak up for them, hence revealing their own choice candidates in the persons of Mr. Evaristus Anibueze and Barr Destiny Nnagbo. We are earnestly watching and we also know with this brief, Nigerians are also watching!

“Since we know the governor as a leader, who has great penchant for peace, we therefore use this medium to beg him not to rob Peter to pay Paul but rather, he should inculcate the spirit of fairness and transparency to entrench the tenets of democracy and not to constitute as a tool that will create chaos and destabilization of democratic practices in the state.” It added.
Nairaland / General / IJAW Youths Call For Peace, Tenders Unreserved Apology To Timipre Sylva, CSO by Amyy24: 4:58pm On Dec 28, 2021
Concerned residents IJAW Youths in Abuja, has tendered an unreserved apology to the Minister for State Petroleum Resources, Chief Dr. Timipre Silva and his Chief Security Officer Mr. Muhammed Salisu Abdullah for the unplanned altercation with the IYC Abuja Chapter last week.

The group while calling for calm and tranquility in a statement signed and released to newsmen on Tuesday by Taritimi Okoye urged members of IYC Abuja Chapter, the NPF/D S.S, attached to the minister to bask in spirit of the Yuletide season to forgive each other and embrace peace.

The statement reads; “ The concerned IJAW youths residing in Abuja, would like to seize this medium to apologies to the entire family members of his Excellency, Chief. Dr. Timipre Sylva, the Honorable Minister for State Petroleum Resources and his Chief Security Officer, Mr Muhammed Salisu Abdullahi for the negatives incidents which occurred last week. In the spirit of the Yuletide season, we also use this medium to urge and appeal to injured IYC members and the NPF/D.S.S attached to the minister to forgive each other and embrace peace.

“While, there has been claims in the media as published on 24/ 12/ 2021 by the Ijaw youths council leadership headed by Mr Chief Diplomat Adam Ogomugu Marbo that Mr. Muhammad S. Abdullah who is the Chief Security Officer the minister, was the person who gave the order that led to violence and destruction of properties which occurred at the minister residence on the 21 / 12/ 2021.

“Besides that, we want to equivocally state here that the security operatives on duty on that faithful day, was only carrying out their official duty which is to protect lives and properties of Nigerians and our leader at their respective residence.

“ It is worthy to note, that the manner in which the IYC used it’s bus to barricade the minister’s gate was quite uncalled for and indeed provoking, the worst is that there wasn’t any known prior confrontations or grievances. However, because this is not a good conduct as such, it is therefore expected, that all well meaning Niger Deltans, the IYC leadership and Ijaws living both at home and abroad would and should speak against it.

“Generally, this incidents has brought a lot pains to the families of H/E Chief Timipre Silva and his C.S.O, and Injured N.P.F/ D.S.S on that day, as well as the IYC Abuja chapter members who got injured during their invading to the Minister residence, So it won’t be a nice action to make a fuss and categorize this issue as a political issue.

“In the light of the above, we are appealing and also calling on all parties involved to embrace peace and further restrain from all future planned attacks on the Mohammed and the Minister’s image; because the CSO, was only doing his job to protect nigerians living in the neighborhood and working for the minister.

“Any further attempt to rubbish the image and career of Mr. Abdullahi, a very charismatic Nigerian Police Officer, who has diligently served the nation would be tantamount to amounting more pain for the minister. We therefore urge all parties to embrace a peaceful approach to resolve these sad incidents in other to heal wounds and engender prosperity for all nigerians.”it added.

Nairaland / General / ALGON Sets Up Seven-member Electoral Committee (full List) by Amyy24: 11:35pm On Dec 21, 2021
• Vows to elect capable and qualified hands to head association
• Stop misrepresenting court ruling- IMC tells Alabi
• Calls for support from the 36 State Governors

In a bid to restore the Association of Local Government of Nigeria ALGON back to glory, the Interim Management Committee, has on Tuesday set up an emergency Seven-Member Electoral Committee to conduct election and appointment of capable hands to oversee the affairs of the association.

A statement signed and released by Hon. Jide Ashonibare, the Publicity Secretary of the Interim Management Committee, disclosed that the IMC after an emergency meeting, unanimously agreed to set up Electoral Committee (ELCOM), from members cut across the six geo-political zone in the country, to foresee and strategise for free and fair elections that will usher in qualified candidates to occupy sensitive executive positions in the association.

The IMC alleging that the former unqualified leadership of the association led by Hon. Kolade Alabi though restrained, has continued to fight through tooth and nail to bring further disrepute to the association did only bribed their way using security operatives to cause damage, but has also resorted to using faceless online news medium to disseminate wrong court judgement just to sway unsuspecting general public from the reality besieging the association, in a bid to continue swindling the association and diverting funds meant for the development of the association to personal accounts for selfish use.

It said: “Our attention was drawn to a half-baked report by an amateur online blog named streetreporters.ng, supposedly paid and sponsored by Alabi and his cohorts to change the narrative and misinterpret judgement of the court ruled by Justice I. E Ekwo today, the 21st day of December, 2021. It is a well-known fact that misrepresentation of a material fact such as a court judgement is a criminal fraud especially as theirs is done in an effort to mislead and obtain selfish benefits. The court judgement made by Justice Ekwo was struck out only on the basis of non-filing by both parties and not on incompetence and frivolous as the online urchins described.

“We are utterly amazed at the total disregard of law Alabi and his cronies are exhibiting, the aforementioned is a man who by facts and documents syphoned over 5.2 billion naira funds meant for the development of the association through a first bank account number 2034749191, which was registered in Area 11 branch, FCT-Abuja. He (Alabi) has been indicted and invited on several occasions by anti-graft agencies for questioning over issues bothering on fraudulent practices and subterfuge; we are rather shocked as to how he has continued to maneuver his way from being caught up by his numerous sins and continued to walk around freely as an innocent man. Does it mean he is bigger than the law?

“By this release today, we are countering the publication made by the street urchins on the basis that Alabi and his cronies are just confused in their dealings especially as they in their most vulnerable state, used an amateur blog perceived to be owned by one of the illegal principals, secondly, the court proceedings earlier today is not about the authenticity of any faction as leadership of ALGON but a ruling on the basis of non-filing of court processes from both parties at the appropriate time. The case is however not over as earlier speculated by person with questionable character who keeps parading as leadership of ALGON.”

The IMC soliciting support from the governors of the 36 states in the country as regards the recent development, however released names of the seven- members selected to be part of the electoral committee. They include; Hon. Timothy Oyedokun from Ogbomosho South LGA in Oyo State- South West, Hon. Engr. Felix Ogbonnaya Igboke from Onicha LGA in Ebonyi State- South East, Hon. Anyatuonwu Ike from Isialangwa South LGA in Abia State- South East, Hon. Barr. Fabian Ogbeche from Yala LGA in Cross River State- South South, Hon.Bakaru Adamu from Damaturu LGA in Yobe State- North East, Hon. Salisu Isah Dangulbi from Maru LGA in Zamfara State–North West, Hon. Mrs. Hassana Jezhi Bako from Kotton-Karffi LGA in Kogi State- North Central respectively.

Nairaland / General / My Life Is Under Threats- ALGON Sec-gen, Muhammed Ibukun Cries Out by Amyy24: 7:57pm On Dec 04, 2021

• Begs FG, IGP to intercede in association crisis
The Secretary General of Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, Muhammed Ibujun Abubakar, has raised alarm over suspected plans to harm him as a result of the current battle of supremacy besieging the association.

Ibukun, who made the disclosure on Friday to newsmen, revealed that he has for a long time noticed very suspicious movements by some unscrupulous elements within his home and office territory, even unnecessary phone calls, hence he decided to open up to the whole world about the perceived threats to his life.

Recall an Interim Management Committee had earlier been set up to continue management of affairs of the association after a court of competent jurisdiction restrained Alabi on the basis of impersonation and fraudulent practices.

The Secretary General, further disclosed to newsmen, that ever since he took it upon himself to expose Alabi, Binta and others, a group of persons who assumed positions as leadership of the association on false information to extort and divert over 5 billion naira of monies meant for the development of the association to personal accounts for their own selfish interests.

He said: “I have been receiving direct and indirect threats as regards to the crisis besieging the association, especially as I took the path of transparency and equity to expose the subterfuge and other crimes perpetuated by Hon. Alabi Kolade David and his cohorts against the association. Ordinarily, I could have treated the threat as mere gibberish, but since I perceived that the threats are coming from the camp of persons who would do anything to still wield powers especially as it negatively affects an association which embodies the third tier of government.

“On this premise, it is therefore very imperative that I also expose the direct and indirect threat to my life. I’m using this medium, gentlemen of the press to call on the general public to be in the know of the recent happenings and the Federal Government, the Inspector General of Police to intercede in the crisis as no matter the level of distraction and provocation by my detractors, I shall continue to work to ensure that peace and stability is restored upon ALGON and justice prevailed.

Commends FG for Allocation Upgrade, begs for more

Amidst concern bothering on the crisis besieging the association, leadership of the Interim Management Committee of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON has vowed to retrieve and restore the association from the hands of lawbreakes to its glory.

The IMC led by Hon. Abdullahi Shuaibu Maje making this revelation during its National Executive Council Meeting held in Valencia Hotels Abuja on Thursday alongside concerned statutory members of ALGON, reiterated its position that Hon. Alabi Kolade David is not a chairman of any of the recognized local government areas enshrined in the constitution of Nigeria; hence does not have a stake in deductions at source or even the affairs of the association in general.

Recall Alabi led faction of the association had earlier on Wednesday conducted a NEC meeting in Lagos inviting Chairmen and Councilors, reacting to the development, the IMC declared that the meeting held by the former, is in flagrant violation of the subsisting court order restraining him from parading as the leadership of ALGON. It however re-pledged commitment to ensure it legitimately rescue and retrieve the association from the hands of usurpers and lawbreakers.

Also commending the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration for the increment made on the allocations of the Local Government to 3.13 percent, the IMC however begged Buhari, to consider general increase from the current to a 35% general percentage as the responsibilities and burden on the Local Government have overtime become enormous.

The Interim Management Committee who further begged President Buhari to intervene in the current association crisis, revealed that it now has a befitting Office to carryout the activities of ALGON and will in due time write to concerned organisations, MDAs to preempt them officially of the development.

• Reveals plot by Alabi, others to sellout ALGON to Tinubu
• Shadow parties too involved in association activities- IMC cries out
• Tinubu using Alabi, ALGON to gather funds for 2023 election
• Urges Buhari, Obasanjo, State Governors to intervene
The Interim Management Committee has raised alarm over plans by powers that be to hijack the Association of Local Government Area for their own selfish gains ahead of the 2023 general election.
Recall the association is currently facing leadership tussle especially as a dissolved faction led by Hon. Kolade Alabi refused to obey an order of a competent court of jurisdiction restraining him from parading as leadership of the association.
The IMC according to information at its disposal on Thursday, revealed that the said Alabi has connived with a few disgruntled persons to host a back door meeting with the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu tonight in Abuja in solidarity ahead of his ambition for 2023 presidency.
As at the time of filing this report, the time of the meeting could not be ascertained, however the Interim Management Committee revealed to our correspondent in a press statement that the association is not for sale and its members does not comprise of just APC.
It said “Our attention has been drawn to plans by powerful shadow parties to buy ALGON for their selfish aim ahead of the 2023 general election. Let it be known in the public domain that ALGON is not for sale and will never be
“ALGON is non-partisan and a political, unfortunately a dissolved leadership led by Kolade Alabi is planning as we speak to mobilise people on behalf of the association to support Tinubu’s presidential ambition ahead of 2023, by this recent development it is therefore very imperative to know that the members of the association are not just privy to APC party members, but other political members are also members of the association.
“Alabi has been hiding under the wings of his godfather, Tinubu to perpetuate evil against the association as it is a well-known fact that Lagos has not been part of ALGON ever since Obasanjo opposed to the formation of development area which Alabi Kolade belongs to. He is a chairman of a development area which is not recognized as one of the 774 recognized LGAs of the Nigerian constitution and he is currently under investigations radar of the anti-graft agencies for diverting over N5billion of association funds.
“The IMC is privy to intelligence that the overzealous chieftain of APC is hell bent on hijacking the Association structure for his political ambitions through Alabi and some disgruntled fellows who are still on the loose with the main agenda of denting the image of ALGON, we wish to alert the general public particularly the media houses, pioneers and stakeholders to look out for strange powerful shadow parties who are all geared up aiming to at having a grip on the soul of our association by having a deceitful back door meeting.”. It added.
The IMC however called on President Muhammadu Buhari, State governors and pioneers of the association to come to the rescue and salvage what is left of the association from the hands of Alabi and his cohorts.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has allegedly commenced the interrogation and investigation of a dissolved factional president of Association of Local Government of Nigeria, Hon. Kolade Alabi in a case of corruption and diversion of over five billion naira of the associations’ fund.

According to reports, Alabi arrived the headquarters of the anti-graft agency in Jabi, Abuja on Monday and is currently being detained and grilled by operatives of the agency.

Though details of the level of interrogation as at press time was still sketchy, but it was gathered that Alabi has a lot of case to answer to especially the diversion of five billion naira funds allocated to the association for the development of the 774 local government area.

Alabi who is currently backed by shadow parties in high places in the polity, leads a faction of ALGON and has been locked in a battle of supremacy with the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of ALGON led by the Chairman of Suleja LGA of Niger state, Hon Abdullahi Maje.

However, the IMC reacting to the development on Tuesday, begged the anti-graft agency to ensure that justice is served and Alabi is made to return all the stolen loots belonging to the association as ALGON is a very sensitive body, which superintends over the affairs of the 774 constitutionally recognised local government areas in Nigeria hence whoever holds the rudder to its ship, should be accountable and transparent to all and sundry, especially the executive level.

Politics / ALGON-IMC Faults Move By Alabi-led Faction To Discredit Its Leadership by Amyy24: 8:24pm On Oct 14, 2021
• Obey court judgement- IMC tells Alabi

The Interim Management Committee of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON on Thursday, faulted moves made by the dissolved Hon. Kolade Alabi led faction to discredit the Hon. Abdullahi Shuaibu Maje led IMC.

The IMC in a letter addressed to the minister of finance on 8th October,2021 debunked claims made by the alleged faction that Maje the chairman of the interim management committee was fraudulently misrepresenting and impersonating as the national president of ALGON.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja, the IMC reacting to the turnout of events said; “We are made to understand that the dissolved Hon. Alabi led faction, has again embarked on writing series of letters to high end officials discrediting the IMC led by Hon. Abdullahi Shuaibu Maje, Chairman of Suleja Area Council in Niger State.

“It might interest the general public to note that the moves made by these unscrupulous elements parading themselves as ALGON leadership has been and would continue to be countered by the IMC. Also, let it be on record again that the Federal High Court which is a court of competent jurisdiction under the supervision of his Lordship Justice I.E. Ekwo on the 29th day of March 2021, restrained Hon. Alabi Kolade David and Hajiya Binta A Bello from parading themselves as leadership of ALGON on a basis of facts, evidence and with reference to ALGON’S constitution citing the constitution on eligibility No.14.

“While we secured the assent of the Inspector General of Police to enforce the said judgement on those involved, an interim management team was duly and legally established by current serving LG chairmen and NEC members to override any vacuum which will hinder the successful running of the association in line with ALGON constitution which stipulates that the ALGON National President must be an elected local government chairman of the 774 local government area.

“Alabi and co has continued to drag to mud, the good reputation of the association. The aforementioned person who currently has the anti-graft agencies chasing after him for diverting over 5.5 billion naira of ALGON funds; according to informations at our disposal has absconded, travelling from countries to countries, while his cohorts, the likes of Mrs. Binta Bello, one Mr. Malik Okpobo, Mr Lamu, Ms. Evans Enekwe and Mr. Vernatius Okafor, continued to parade and operate in disguise as leadership of ALGON. The association which is currently in the hands of false leadership, have suffered series of setbacks, debt judgements and financial burdens with little or no projects to its credit, especially in the improvement of agriculture and food security, which is in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s diversification mandate and recent UN resolution on food security.” It added.

Reaffirming the leadership of Hon. Abdullahi Maje, the IMC however called on President Buhari, AGF, the Minister of Finance to disregard letters written by the dissolved Hon. Kolade Alabi led faction and work in line with justice, accountability and transparency to achieve a palatable and sustainable ALGON.

Centre for Peace Transparency and Accountability on Thursday, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for committing more resources to diversify invest on Youths, Science and Technology in the country.
The group; a nonpartisan, nonprofit and nongovernment organization with a mandate to promote good governance in Nigeria by holding institutions accountable to the citizens’ needs had in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Comrade Ogheneyero Patrick and made available to newsmen revealed that no past government had invested as many resources particularly in youths, science and technology as the Buhari government had done.
The statement read: “As an organization with social corporate responsibility of Independently assessing performances of public stewards, we have carefully followed the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari from his first term, when he threw down the gauntlet defining and stating that his administration’s focus would be on economic diversification, youth investment and nipping corruption in the bud from the public service.
“One of the President’s great feat was renaming the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology to “Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation”, a move that went just beyond the façade of name change to a renewed change in the thinking and planning of the entire ministry and agencies under its supervision. An example of the above assertion is the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI); an organization which was created with a mandate for integrated research across the entire building and construction value chain.
“Through the institute under the watch of a committed DG, Buhari has made an unprecedented number of social intervention policies as well as providing funding for youth enterprises in science and technology, initiating a number of inventions and research innovations that have the capacity to end poverty by creating employment for the teeming youths and building infrastructure to facilitate more economic activities that the nation can even export.” It added.
The group in same light also commended Prof. Samson Duna, the Director General/CEO of the institute for his commitment, proactive and strategic approach in ensuring that the mandate of the institute is upheld citing that the recent alternative to cement called Pozzollana, which is produced by the institute using waste materials.
According to CPTA, the new introduction will cost significantly less than conventional Portland cement, which has the capacity to drive down building costs in a country that is confronted with a housing deficit of 27million units.

Politics / IMC Frowns As FG Okays Payment Of $418m To Consultants/contractors by Amyy24: 4:01pm On Sep 09, 2021
• Show us proofs of the alleged executed projects in 774 LGAs- IMC dares RIOK
• Faults Finance minister approval of ‘controversial’ payment for via Promissory Notes
• It is against your fight to nip corruption; halt all payments now- IMC tells Buhari

The Interim Management Committee of Association of Local Government of Nigeria, has frowned at the federal government approval of payment of monies amounting to $418 million to consultants and contractors for the roles they played in the Paris Club refund received by its administration.

The IMC in a suit filed in the Federal High Court dated 1st September 2021 via motion of notice in suit no M/5474/2021 and also Writ of Summon in suit no CV/2185/2021, challengedthe FG, Attorney General of the Federation, the Minister of Justice, DMO, AGF, EFCC and the Chief Registrar of the High Court for their involvement in approving promissory notes of payments in the sum of US$142,028,941.95, US$ 1,219,440.45, US$ 215, 195.36, RIOK Nigeria Ltd, Prince NwaforOrizu, Barr. Olaitan Bello, respectively.

Recall earlier report revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari had approved the payment of the controversial amounts in Paris Club refund-related judgment debts to consultants, without considering the calls for a forensic audit into the claims of the creditors and the Federal Ministry of Finance following such order had also directed the Debt Management Office (DMO) to commence issuance of promissory notes to the creditors, as approved by the order of the president.

The Minister of Finance on the order of the President, is said to have directed the Director-General, Debt Management Office (DMO) to issue Promissory Notes 12th August, 2021 in favour of the consultants and contractors. The purported amounts claimed by the various consultants are as follow: Ned Nwoko –US$68,658,193.83; Ted Iseghoghi Edwards -$159 million; Riok Nigeria Limited$142,028,941.95, prince Orji NwaforOrizu US$1,219,440.45, and Olaitan Bello – US$215,195.36 and Panic Alert System Limited and George Uboh – $47,831,920.

However, in the fresh suit filed the ALGON-IMC, asking the court to grant an order to dissuade the Hon. Minister of Finance, the debt management office, the accountant general of the federation and the chief registrar of the high court from issuing, handing over or releasing any promissory note or banking instrument of transfer to the consultants and contractors.

The IMC questioning the basis for the approval of payments, demanded that the contractors should provide proofs of the allegedly executed projects, contracts in any of the 774 local government areas to back up their claims to such enormous amount of monies. It also alleged that the consultants having succeeded in fraudulently obtainment of court judgement in suit No FCT/HC/CV/2129/201, to divert common wealth belonging to the 774 local government areas for themselves their families and cronies alone.

It said: “The IMC cannot sit down and watch constant extortion being perpetrated in the name and with the name of the association, the situation at hand is very germane and requires immediate attention, hence the purpose for this address. The current approval by the president, others to issue promissory notes of payment to the six consultants without due diligence, is fraudulent and has a tarnishing impact on the association as those involved did not execute any of the alleged projects and does not deserve to receive the rights of payment.

“The President should not water down his fight against corruption by not following due process to seek documented evidences/proofs of the projects, contracts allegedly executed by these consultants. Also let us not us not rob Peter to pay Paul by standing with our hands folded watching these men of greedy stance deprive people in the grassroots level, monies that should be used to enhance and effect development and growth. We heavily frown at the stance of the president approving payments for underperforming self-made consultants, this action if honoured will cause irreparable damage to the third tier of government. It is on this premise that we dare those involved to provide proofs of the projects executed while laying claims to such amounts as mentioned in the order of which a promissory note was issued.

“Every money be it dollar or naira should be channeled to people-oriented projects as the nation is already going through economic challenges and the issuance of Promissory Notes of enormous sums in millions of dollars to private persons, organisations for alleged consultancy/contract work requires not just caution but strict due diligence, particularly when the judgments which gave rise to the payments sought to be enforced are the subject of pending litigation. Matters that are subjudice must not be acted upon in a manner that will foist a situation of complete helplessness on the courts and render their decisions inconsequential.

“Again let me reiterate that the Minister of Finance, the DG of DMO, and the AGF had since been duly served and notified of the pendency of these actions in court, but then it is however very strange and indeed alarming that having been served and made aware of the pendency of the various court cases, the Minister of Finance would readily but in complete disregard of the law direct that Promissory Notes be issued in favour of these consultants. There is however FOUL PLAY, which can only be interpreted by those imvolved!” It added.

The IMC buttressed that custodians and managers of public funds are public trustees and must at all times act in the interest of the public, adding that the interest of all the states and local governments of the federation is involved in this instant case and ought to be protected by the Minister of Finance.

Politics / ALGON-IMC Decry ALGOVC National Conference/award Night by Amyy24: 2:40pm On Sep 08, 2021
• Says Kolade Alabi does not deserve any leadership award
• We are not party to such preposterous conference
• Caution your Vice Chairmen- IMC to Chairmen

The Interim Management Committee of Association of Local Government of Nigeria on Wednesday decried plans made by the ALGOVC to host its fourth Annual National Conference/ Award Night in Abuja.
According to report, the Association of Local Government Vice Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGOVC) had sent out invites of the event to chairmen, vice chairmen and other high end dignitaries in the country.

Reacting to the details of the event, the IMC led by Hon. Abdullahi Shuaibu Maje, Chairman of Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State condemned the plans made by the ALGOVC to present an award to Hon. Kolade Alabi stating that Alabi is very undeserving of such leadership award as he during his forced regime in office as the National President of the Association, connived with some officers to perpetuate injustice and fraudulent practices that has left the good name of the association in the mud.

Maje during his address to newsmen in Abuja described the ALGOVC event as one aimed towards encouraging shady and undeserving public stewards to continue in their path of doom and no return. He disclosed that the IMC under his leadership cannot sit back and watch men who have sown on an infertile ground during their regime reap from a fertile ground.

He said “It is unfounded and highly preposterous that the Association of Local Government Vice Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGOVC) is set to award Hon. Kolade David Alabi, even after a competent court of jurisdiction, suspended him from parading himself as National President of ALGON.

We are yet to understand the basis for such award, perhaps it’s an award solely gotten on the ills of the numerous fraudulent practices of Alabi and his cohort as he does not and will never deserve such award of leadership.

“It is also painful that Chairmen and Vice Chairmen who are supposed to be voices of those they represent in the grassroots level, are partisans to such misdemeanor; Where will the quest of President Buhari to nip corruption in the bud be if men of incompetence and less substance are allowed to parade as public stewards with awards from major forum, organizations backing their shortcomings and underperformance? He asked.

The IMC however urged chairmen and vice chairmen to disregard the event as they shouldn’t be seen identifying with a man who does not have the legal binding to head an association entrusted with the mandate of sustaining good governance at the local government level.

Nairaland / General / National Algon Crisis: Illegalilty Of Alabi Kolade Led Nec And Odunayo Ategbero by Amyy24: 9:09pm On Aug 23, 2021
BY: HON. (DR) TAUFIQ ISA (FORMER ALGON NATIONAL LEGAL ADVISER AND KOGI STATE ALGON CHAIRMAN)

It is with dismay that I and other States ALGON Chairmen received the news of my purported removal as the National Legal Adviser by the so called Alabi Kolade led National Executive Council which has been declared illegal by the High court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on suit no: FCT/HC/CV/1823/2021.

In July 2021,Some States ALGON Chairmen met and resolved that Hon. Kolade Alabi being a Chairman of a Local Development Council Area (LCDA) in Lagos State is not one of the Chairmen of the 774 Local Government Area recognized by the constitution of both the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the ALGON,and can not lead as the President of ALGON.

The Chairmen then resolved and set up an Interim Management Commitee to be headed by ALGON Chairman of Niger State,Hon. Abdullahi S. Maje to pilot the affairs of ALGON and conduct credible election within the period of six months to redeem the image of the National ALGON.

In the judgement of Hon. Justice H. Muazu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, signed on the 6th August,2021,an injunction was granted for the Interim Management Commitee (IMC) of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) as well as their officers and staff of the National Headquarters to hold forth pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

Based on the judgement, The National Executive Council (NEC) which I was a member as National Legal Adviser headed by Alabi Kolade David and Board of Trustees (BOT) headed by Odunayo Ategbero is unconstitutional, illegal and therefore dissolved in adherence to the court order of 5th August,2021. Which further determines the motion on notice of an order of Interim injunction granted restraining Alabi Kolade led Executive Commitee,or any other agencies or organs of the Federal Government of Nigeria from in any way whatsoever arresting, harassing, intimidating or violating the rights of Interim Management Commitee (IMC),agents, employees and surbordinates at the behest of the dissolved National Executive Council led by Alabi Kolade and the dissolved BOT led by Odunayo Ategbero in violating of the order of the court.

And also an order of Interim injunction was also granted restraining the dissolved NEC and dissolved BOT, their agents, assigns, privies, servants, employees, whosoever or howsoever described from interfering in any way with the activities of the IMC of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) as well as their agents and staff at the National Headquarters.

Based on the aformentioned legal pronouncement as former National Legal Adviser who is law abiding, saddled with the responsibility of advising and guiding on legal matters, the court orders must be strictly and stringently obeyed.

The purported Alabi Kolade led factional Executive Commitee which was characterized by fraudulent activities even as an illegal occupant of the seat. Alabi Kolade is adjudged and considered not to be fit for the seat and consequently sacked by the court order.

I want to clearly state that the purported BOT/ Illegal Kolade led factional Executive commitee have no locus standi to remove me as former Legal Adviser.

As the former custodian of legal issues of the association, I have adviced that based on the court order, the NEC and BOT stand dissolved, some have accepted but Alabi Kolade of NEC and Odunayo Ategbero of BOT are Machiavellios
and showing deprecable gambit of lawlessness and act of brigandage with a view to violating the court order.

I however call on all ALGON Chairmen to give their maximum support to the (IMC) towards conducting a credible election that will usher in new Executive Council and rebuild the image of the association.

I thank the States ALGON Chairmen who are giving their unflinching supports towards realising a better image for the Association.

I also call on the Federal Government, Forum of Governors, Attorney General of the federation,IGP,DSS and all agencies of the Federal Government to restrict the impostors and their agents from parading themselves as the NEC and BOT in other to obey the court order and stop the mockery of the judiciary.
