Politics / Presidential Campaigns Flag Off By Pdp And Ac by anaekwe(m): 8:20pm On Feb 06, 2007
I was glued to my television when AC and PDP flagged off their presidential campaigns. What I really do not comprehend is why Olusegun Obasanjo had to do virtually all the talking that Yar'adua was supposed to do. It is quite surprising that this man can not speak for himself. I shall revisit this issue later.
Sincerely, my attention was caught when I heard Atiku Abubakar say that if voted as the president of Nigeria, he would improve the power sector, assist farmers with subsidies in form of fertilizer provision, improve healthcare delivery, and most importantly, address the problem of NIGER DELTA. According to him, the PDP had failed in the areas listed above.
Is Atiku taking the masses as fools? OR is he trying to appear more unpleasant than he already is? Fellow Nigerians Atiku was in the same PDP that didn't address the all important issues, so coming out now to tell us that PDP has failed implies that he has equally failed. And he thinks that we Nigerians are suffering from amnesia as regards the
political terrain in Nigeria.
I strongly advise that he come out with problems to be addressed without necessarily referring to PDP as a failed party because that is synonymous with him being a failed man.
Politics / The Flaws Of PDP As A Political Party. by anaekwe(m): 6:53pm On Feb 03, 2007
Fellow Nigerians I greet you. Permit me to start this by wishing you all and our beloved country a free, fair and credible election come April Y2K7.
Actually, I have a keen attention focused on PDP losing in an unprecedented manner in the imminent elections. My reasons are as follows,
The party merely selected candidates in its primaries starting from the state to the federal level. How can a party of PDP's calibre come out and present candidates to the public only to come out the next day to subsitute the already "selected" candidates. This is arrant nonsense. A very lucid example is that which occured in Akwa-Ibom state. This makes me feel that they are not absolutely sure of their method of "selection" because I recall vividly that Godswill Akpabio was formally presented to the party faithfuls in Akwa-Ibom by Ahmadu Ali, only for me to hear that he had been dropped. This is actually surprising to hear.
What equally makes me feel that they will lose come  April is the choice of their presidential candidate. How can you bring out Musa Yar'adua for presidency. My people isn't this the funniest and most grievious mistake PDP has made recently. This is actually not laughable but lamentable. The fellow does not equally express himself fluently. This is really bad for someone that aspires to rule the world's most populous black nation. This fellow can not withstand the likes of Pat Utomi, Chris Okotie, Atiku Abubakar, Uzor Kalu, just to mention a few.
I weep for PDP because they lack proficiency in Decision making. If you think they do why then "select" candidates that you end up replacing for reasons that are not cogent, and why present Musa Yar'adua to us as the presidential candidate.
May God direct them in their decisions.
Education / Youth Service In Nigeria by anaekwe(m): 11:19pm On Jan 30, 2007
Hi fellow members of the nairaland forum. I write this piece just to register my dissatisfaction with the way the National Youth Service programme is carried out in our country Nigeria.
Please can someone out there tell me why an "eligible" graduate will have to sit at home for months, sorry I mean years before he/she is called upon to fulfil this obligation as a citizen. This is unfair as it renders most graduates redundant and you and I know that the Idleness can lead to so many things one of which is decline in productivity. This I must say reduces the trained manpower which the government needs to pursue its policy of industrialisation.
If they know that the youth service can not be as it was in its inception during GOWON'S regime why not scrap it and introduce something better.
This is one of the reasons why most Nigerians travel out to work and study further after graduation. Please something really has to be done.
Everyday, we keep hearing that the Government is calling on prominent Nigerians abroad to come and invest in the country. Believe me, most of them were frustrated out of the country by the Government.
I don't even know the criteria they use in calling up graduates for the Compulsory obligation. However, I strongly think that it should be reviewed to make life better for the country's future.
Thanks and I sign out now.

Politics / Re: How Do One Join A Political Party In Nigeria by anaekwe(m): 2:42pm On Jan 10, 2007
You simply join a political party by registration. You may equally be asked to pay a registration fee that varies based on the political party of your choice.
Politics / Resentment Towards Gov. Peter Odili by anaekwe(m): 2:02pm On Jan 10, 2007
Permit me to say that I am highly disappointed in Gov. Peter Odili. Imagine the goat (Peter Odili) after embarking on series of visits to about 34 states in Nigeria to actualise his presidential aspiration, he then left the race at the last minute. What nonsense. I am upset with him for two reasons;
1. For wasting our (the populace) money on his visit to the states.
2. For allowing OBJ to push him out easily and impose the unpopular Yar' adua.
I personally believe that if he had contested in the primaries, he would have won it. What do you say to this?
