To be honest to all UK is rubbish compared to any other western country even the smaller once. They manage everything here, Road, House, Bus, Train name it.
This is the only country you will have an Iragi, Nigerian, Brazilian, Sudanese under one roof sharing the same kitchen and toilet. Its pathetic. At the same time their landlord is the plumber, carpenter, painter, electrician. He repairs every thing that goes wrong in the house. Sometimes i wonder what kinda country is this, the size of the their room is even the worst. Some room is too small that when you put your bed you hardly see where to keep any other thing yet they pay hundreds of £ every week. You pay to watch your own TV getting only 5 analog channels. Its just like you pay to watch AIT, NTA, OGTV, IBC or MIRAGE.

you missed the issue of car parking.

NCC starts registration of SIM Cards
Written by Inalegwu Shaibu
Saturday, 04 April 2009

The Nigerian Communications Communication (NCC) will from next July commence the registration of all SIM cards the operational software running GSM mobile phones in the country.

GSM mobile phone users who fail to register their cards at the end of the registration exercise in December will be disconnected in the first quarter of 2010, the executive vice chairman of the commission, Engineer Ernest Ndukwe disclosed as part of the commission’s plans to give credibility in the identification process for mobile phone usage in the country
.

Engr. Ndukwe spoke at a one day retreat of the Senate Committee on Communications in Kaduna just as the Committee chairman, Senator Sylvester Anyanwu tasked the commission to protect the citizenry from the exploitative tendencies of GSM operators.

“What we are doing is to get a situation where there is some form of credibility in the identification process that we can bank with. We have actually announced processes on when this will end,’’ Ndukwe said yesterday.
In the next three months, people will be required to provide some form of identification before they get SIM cards.

But at the end of the year, we are giving enough time for those who are current users can go and register with a good identity instrument that is bankable, that we can put in a data base.

“Once that is done, I think January or February; we’ll give a date which will be a cutoff date. If you have not registered your SIM card by then, you’ll be automatically cut off from the network.”

Engineer Ndukwe however fears that there may be a slight delay when the program takes off due to the absence of an authentic identity data in the country.

He said, “On the issue of SIM card registration, direction has not been issued by the regulator that is true because the law requires us to go through some consultation process which we are going through. But one major thing, we need an authentic identification process. The law is not meant for law abiding citizens, they are meant to catch criminals.”

Earlier in his remark, Chairman of the Committee, Senator Anyanwu stated that NCC must put in place measures to address problems associated with interconnectivity.

He stressed that the NCC must be in the fore front of ensuring that Nigerians are protected from exploitative tendencies of GSM operators in the country.

Explaining that the retreat was designed to help the senators acquaint themselves with the working knowledge of the telecommunication sector, as it prepares to amend the NCC act of 2003, senator Anyanwu said the Senate would enact an effective legislation that would both guarantee the rights of the people and also boast investment and growth of the sector.

Compulsory registration of sim cards is not enforced on pay-as-you -go sims in the UK. Instead some mobile service providers reward customers with a few pounds credit that will be sent to their address if they register their sim online.
NCC just wants to waste resources on this sim registration.

Woolwich of all places. . . . . . .I would rather go to Afghanistan(Land-mine ridden area).

was passing through, and picking up a takeout, wouldnt go there as well, espesially since i was mugged at gunpoint 2 yrs ago by nigerian guys with guns

Bros, i thought i am the only one that does this. Many times when i am in parts of London and i see our people misbehaving, i just keep a straight face and pretend like i am not 'one of them'. Seriously, people have actually sat next to me on trains or buses, shouting in yoruba or ibo or pidgin, and i just force myself to maintain some form of decorum. When they finish their ill acts, turn to me and say, 'are you a Nigerian', i always reply in a very curt  and clipped tone, NO I AM NOT!   . Next thing, they will be asking you for change to buy a meal and where you live - blah blah blah

yes o especially south east, east london and dagenham, barking, grays and most parts of essex nigerians in oshodi are better behaved than they are both male and female.go to the new developments where nigerians tend to live and you will see our people drying clothes and towels on balconies

What are you doing in Woolwich area? I personally cannot stand that place at all.

i went there to pick up a takeaway at a nigerian restaurant and i didnt have enough money so i had to use the nearest atm,i dont hold more than 10pounds anytime im going to that area since i was mugged

What is wrong with woolwich?
Is it comparable to former oshodi?

Woolwich is like Ojuelegba. . . . . .U can buy anything there.
MTN cards, Globacom cards, Pap, Moi-Moi, etc.

Asha, you are 100% correct. The streets are a bit clean because it is London but most of the shared flats there are worse than Ojuelegba. I visited someone in Abbey wood. I could not believe my eyes. He shares an apartment with 4 other nigerians and the apartment is worse than Ajegule. They share a kitchen but he keeps his fridge, foodstuffs, plates, pots infact all kitchen utensils including microwave in his room. The apartemnt is unkept. And this is someone that will arrive Nigeria and be doing big boy.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Employers Or Slave Drivers? by angel01: 3:02pm On Apr 03, 2009
most companies are slave camp and this has really affected the employee in all area of their life, financially materially and socially, imagine a young man with 40-50 naira salary, how will he cope and forge ahead with life in Lagos, accommodation na wahala, transportation has increased geometrically of recent, feeding and clothing is there how will he think of marriage or raising children, sometimes life is mysterious.

Companies that pay 40-50k try. Graduate employee that work under states earn far less than that.  prior to the increase in salaries last year, fresh graduate that work in ministries earned 34k while those in parastatals earned 48k.

Take regular baths or showers, at least once a day. After puberty, using an antiperspirant can help to reduce sweating, and some also inhibit bacterial growth. This is rarely needed with younger children.

Fresh clothes should be worn every day, and clothing should be washed at as high a temperature as possible, then dried as quickly as possible. Bacteria can survive in damp clothing and produce a characteristic smell.

Feet should be washed regularly, dried thoroughly and treated with antifungal powder if necessary. Avoid closed, sweaty shoes such as trainers, and wear fresh cotton socks or keep feet bare in open sandals as often as possible.

Body odour may be influenced by diet. Certain foods, such as curry, garlic and strong spices, contain chemicals that may be excreted in the skin.
Avoiding very spicy food may also help.

I guess the recession is affecting the tithes and offering too.

Revealed: UK Toxic Wastes Traced to Alaba Market
By Akinsanmi Gboyega with agency report, 02.19.2009

http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=136110

Potentially dangerous toxic wastes from the United Kingdom (UK) have been traced to Alaba International Market and Apapa, all in Lagos state.
The wastes, according to Sky News investigation, comprise abandoned TV set, computer and electrical appliances, which are ordinarily meant to be recycled
The report said the wastes “are traced to Lagos port inside the container. We finally managed to track the television down to a shipping container.”
At Alaba Market, the report added that youngsters aged between 15 and 20 were seen scavenging for the valuable copper contained in the appliances.
It stated: “Because of the toxic nature of some of the components, the appliances should be recycled under strict conditions here in the United Kingdom.”
Commenting on the development, a UK-based non-governmental organisation, Greenpeace, confirmed that the young people working on such dumps often break apart the electronic items for parts, but in doing so are exposed to poisonous chemicals like mercury, lead and cadmium.
“We basically managed to track a TV going from the UK allegedly as second-hand equipment to Nigeria. When in fact we knew, because we gutted it, this TV, before it left the UK, we took all the insides out and put in a tracker device, which enabled us to track this old TV from the UK, through the recycler to Nigeria.
“Tonnes of toxic waste from municipal dumps in the West are being dumped illegally in countries like Nigeria and Ghana. Hundreds of thousands of broken items like TVs and computers are being sold to dealers on the pretext of re-use. Under EU law, such household appliances must be dismantled or recycled,” the charity group stated.
But Sky News reported that after being informed that e-waste collected by Hampshire County Council is being sent to West Africa, it teamed up with Greenpeace to investigate the claim.
According to Sky News : “Our team found an old television, noted its barcode and product number and, with the help of a qualified engineer, removed a vital working part, rendering it useless. We then inserted a satellite tracker into the television before taking it to the council's recycling centre.
“The idea was to follow every step of the TV's journey across the world via the internet before pinpointing the exact coordinates of its final destination. Filming undercover, we dropped our television off at a recycling site in Basingstoke which is managed for Hampshire County Council by a firm called Hopkins.
“They in turn sell appliances to a company called BJ Electronics. BJ bought our old television. We then followed the television to the BJ Electronics warehouse in Walthamstow, where BJ claim they test every appliance before selling them on to other companies for export.
“Our tracker showed our broken television was eventually loaded onto a shipping container at BJ's warehouse then taken to Tilbury where it was exported,” the report said.
Greenpeace Campaigner, Mr. Erik Albertson, told Sky News Online: "What you see around us could be the remains of one of your old computers or a TV set. The problem with things like this is every now and then, a couple of times a week, they set them on fire and the contents of the chemicals will cause dioxins to escape.
"Dioxins are well known as one of the toxic substances on earth. They're both carcinogenic and cause endocrine disruption." Back in the UK, we told Hampshire County Council, Hopkins and BJ Electronics of our findings.
Hopkins refused to comment. BJ said they had done nothing wrong and were adamant they comply with all the necessary tests. Hampshire Council issued the following statement: "We are extremely disappointed to learn of the potential findings of the investigation.
Hampshire Council issued the following statement: "We are extremely disappointed to learn of the potential findings of the investigation.
"Our primary aim has always been to ensure that waste electrical items are reused wherever possible, and that only functional TVs and monitors are sent abroad. We do not condone the exportation of televisions that cannot be reused.
"If, after our inquiry, it is found that our clear requirements are being compromised by inadequate controls, we will take immediate action and we will publish our findings,” the Council stated.
As Hampshire County Council carries out its own inquiry, Greenpeace has called on manufacturers of electronic goods to ensure they put in place take back schemes, so that the unwanted appliances are disposed of responsibly, instead of being dumped on poorer countries.

DCO dies in female lover's bedroom E-mail
Written by Vincent Ujumadu
Wednesday, 28 January 2009
AWKA—THE Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) for the Ogbaru Divisional Police Station in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State (names withheld) has reportedly died in the bedroom of his female lover. The state police command has confirmed the incident, although it declined to give details surrounding the death of the senior police officer.

Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Fidelis Agbo, who confirmed the death of the DCO said investigation had begun to unravel the cause of the death.

He however said that he was not aware that the police officer died in the house of a woman, adding “all I know is that the officer died.”

It was gathered yesterday, that a post-mortem conducted on the police officer revealed that he died of cardiac arrest, although the details were still foggy.

Meanwhile, the police has said that no arrest has been made in connection with the recent killing of a lecturer of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Dr Philis Ifeoma Okoli, and her seven-year-old daughter, Jewel.

The PPRO said the police has gone deep into the matter, but declined to make further statement.

He appealed to members of the public to give useful information that would lead to the apprehension of the alleged perpetrators and assured that such information would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
