This should be blamed on the Nigerian government, what are they doing for it's citizen? Absolutely nothing, it's a shame on Nigeria that even at this century and after a long years of independence, we can't boost of good roads, electricity, good standard education, Unemployment, e.t.c

A lot of Nigerians abroad are suffering with no jobs, facing racism and heavy cold. The Government are just there for their own good. Most Nigerians Killed abroad due to racism and the ambassador of such countries do nothing about it.

So I don't blame those sleeping day and night at the embassy seeking visas, they are seeking greener pasture,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in Advance.

Quote
The desperation on the part of many Nigerians to travel out of the country is believed to have reached an alarming level in recent times.

And indeed Vanguard Metro’s visit to some embassies in Lagos revealed scenes of absurdity involving many Nigerians, both young and old, desperate to flee their country at the slightest opportunity.

At all the embassies visited there was almost always a crowd of visa seekers jostling and fighting desperately under the sun or rain to be attended to. To them, the visa they seek is as important as the Holy Grail, which explains why they are prepared to sacrifice anything, including their dignity, comfort and personal safety in their quest for it.

This development only goes to confirm that all the campaigns and other efforts by government and its relevant agencies to discourage Nigerians from travelling out of the country on flimsy grounds have so far come to nought.

What Vanguard Metro saw in one of the African embassies located at Sinari Daranijo Street, Victoria Island was astonishing and unbelievable. It was a Thursday and it was raining heavily when Vanguard Metro got there at about 5.45am. Yet the number of visa seekers was over 300 and the applicants had been divided into two queues with the first one being for first time travellers, work and study permit applicants while the other queue was for corporate clients, frequent travellers, transit and medical visa.

“How did these people get here this early?” queried a fellow who was a first time visitor to the place. Another fellow who identified himself as Tope had responded thus: “For anybody to be among the first 20 on these lines, the person must have been on the queue by 4.00am”.

This was a shocking revelation which was confirmed by another visa seeker by name Ajayi. According to him: “I have been trying my luck for the past one week, only to be getting here by 6.00 am and meeting many people. I then requested for a friend to bring me down here in his car yesterday and we slept in the car to make our being on the line by 4.10 am this morning possible”.

Also easily noticeable were the ubiquitous touts as they went about rendering one service or the other and collecting money from desperate applicants. The Police were not left out as officers and men from the Maroko and Bar Beach Police Stations used the opportunity to make brisk business for themselves as they were seen arresting and searching people and ‘penalising’ those “with questions to answer”.

Health / Woman Delivers Tortoise, Baby Girl; It’s A Hoax, Doctors Say by anguskelly: 9:05am On Dec 05, 2009
A tradomedical practitioner in Lagos has claimed that a 20-year old woman delivered a tortoise and a baby girl in his clinic.

The woman, Rasheedat Raimi, said she had carried the pregnancy for 10 months before she eventually delivered the baby girl and the tortoise at a trado-medical clinic on Mutairu Street, Off Ijegun Road, outskirts of Lagos.

The owner of the clinic, Shehu Daudu Oseni, said the woman gave birth to the tortoise and the baby girl at 9.49 p.m on Wednesday.

Many orthodox doctors and traditional doctors contacted by P.M.NEWS on the strange delivery quickly dismissed the claim as impossible. Dr. Lawrence Akinsanya said “it is not possible, never, ever”. He said the claim has no basis in the science of reproduction. “It is just not scientifically possible”, he added.

P.M.NEWS gathered that Rasheedat had gone to Yakafi Trado-medical Nigeria Limited to observe Tahajjud (night vigil) with other pregnant women without any premonition that she was due for delivery.

When P.M.NEWS got to the trado-medical clinic, yesterday and this morning, Rasheedat was found looking pale and tired. She was sleeping on a bed in the clinic while her grandmother, Alhaja Taibat, who sat beside her fanned her.

She was in pains as she talked to P.M.NEWS about the strange delivery. “I came to Yakafi for prayers because of the terrible pains I was having in my stomach. Immediately I got here, prayers were offered and immediately there was a burst of water and blood under me. The tortoise came out with the placenta and the baby came out later. I couldn’t believe my eyes, but I was very weak. I was happy the pain left me. I felt relieved after the delivery. I thank God,” she told P.M.NEWS slowly.

On whether she attended ante-natal clinic before the delivery, the young woman said: ”I carried the pregnancy for 10 months. I did scans several times and nobody told me that I was carrying tortoise in my womb. What they always told me was that I am alright and would deliver at the right time,” she added.

Attempts by P.M.NEWS to know the hospital or the diagnostic centre where she claimed she had several scans proved abortive as she could not remember the name or address of the centre. She could also not mention the names of the doctor or nurses who attended to her at the clinic.

But corroborating her story, the owner of Yakafi Trado-medical Nigeria Limited, Shehu Dauda Oseni, described the delivery as “amazing”.

“This is amazing, but true. She did not register with my clinic for ante-natal. When she came here with her people, she was in pains, we didn’t know she will deliver here. She only came here for Tahajjud prayers (night vigil). We were praying when suddenly she started wriggling. She was in pains.

“I touched her stomach and observed something strange moving inside her. It was a strange thing. I thought it was a lizard but it turned out to be a tortoise. The tortoise tore the placenta into pieces and came out. The baby came out afterwards.

“She fainted after the delivery and we have to revive her with prayers. This is what God can do. She had several scans but nobody told her that he was carrying a tortoise in her womb. God is great,” he declared.

Rasheedat who is still in the hospital has been visited by her husband, in-laws, relatives and neighbours who trooped to the clinic to catch a glimpse of the strange occurance.

In interviews with P.M.NEWS this morning, however, many orthodox and traditional medical practitioners described the claim as impossible.

Dr. Banji Filani of Sound Health Centre, Lagos, described the claim as untrue. “It is not possible. I don’t believe the story. How can a baby and a tortoise co-habit in a woman’s womb? Medically, it is not possible. Traditionally, it is impossible,” he stated.

Dr. Banji Filani of Sound Health Centre, Lagos, described the claim as untrue. “It is not possible. I don’t believe the story. How can a baby and a tortoise co-habit in a woman’s womb? Medically, it is not possible. Traditionally, it is impossible,” he stated.
•The baby girl.

In his own reaction, Dr. Aberuagba of Aberuagba trado-medical centre countered that the strange birth is possible. “It can happen. It can be done by spiritual manipulations of the foetus. It is the work of dark forces who want to scuttle the birth of the baby but God in his infinite mercy prevented their evil design,” he said.

Another medical doctor, Dr. Rotimi Adesanya said: “The claim is not feasible. More investigations should be conducted on the strange delivery. It is difficult to believe. I don’t believe it can happen,” the Ogun State-based medical practitioner said.

Claims of strange deliveries are common in Nigeria. But such claims have never been verified by the scientific community, allowing beliefs in such miracles to fester.

In 2005, a Russian woman gave birth to a cyclop child ( a cyclop in Greek mythology is a one eyed giant). The cyclop, a female was covered with thick hair; an eye in the center of the head and a trunk that was growing on the head above the eye. Doctors in Russsia then explained that the incredible mutant baby, born pre-term could have arisen from complications during the preganancy, some of them traceable to the use of antibiotics such as tetracycline. Said Dr.Ivan Rylchikov, a specialist: ‘‘The medicine affects the developments of the fetus’ bone and teeth; even a small dose can be dangerous for an unborn child. A cyclop is not viable—they do not live longer than one week. In addition, nature has its own regulator. If the development of the fetus takes an unusual mturn, the probability of a miscarriage increases a lot. This is the way that Mother Nature uses to kill mutants in the womb”.

Doctors in Nigeria are making the same comment on the alleged strange births in suburban Lagos, that the nature has its way of protecting a woman’s womb, with the cervic being shut down once a conceived baby has embedded itself in the mother’s womb. “There is no way the woman would have carried the tortoise in her womb, along with the baby. Because with the cervic closed, there is no way a foreign body would have entered the womb’’, said Dr. Akinsanya.

But Oseni’s nurses who claimed they witnessed the birth affirmed the strange occurrence.

A staff nurse at the clinic who witnessed the delivery, Olaponmile Ajani, said she was there when the delivery took place. She disclosed that Rasheedat had been complaining of severe pains and discomfort in her womb before the delivery.

“The tortoise came out before the baby. It was after several minutes later that the baby now came out.

“Her private part was torn seriously as the tortoise came out. Before then the doctor tried to put his hand into her but the tortoise pulled his hand. By the time it eventually came out we could not believe it, but it was real.”

“The baby was so healthy when she came out because she cried by herself. The baby has no wound or mark. It was a miracle. The tortoise had been feeding on the placenta as it was all torn when it came out.

Other staff of the hospital who witnessed the delivery are Mr. Saheed Soyemi, Mrs. Rasheed, Mrs. Fatimat Useni, Mrs. Aminat

Meanwhile, the hospital has turned into a sort of Mecca to thousands of residents of Ikotun who now throng the clinic to view the strange delivery.

SIX market women were killed in the early hours of yesterday at Effurun, Delta State, by a trailer suspected to be laden with stolen crude oil, while a mob partly razed the Ebrumede Police Station in a spur-of-the-moment reaction to the unpleasant incident.
As at 9.00am yesterday, a Nigeria Army Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC, was stationed at the Ebrumede Police Station to stop further attack.

Vanguard counted at least six vehicles with their windscreens smashed at the police station while the office of the Officer-in-charge of the station was torched.

The accident occurred around 5.00 am at the Delta Steel Company, DSC, junction, along the Ughelli-Patani Road and up till 10.00am yesterday, the section of the road leading to Warri was cordoned off by a joint team of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, army and other security agents to clean up the spilled crude oil on the road to avoid fresh accident.

The anger of the mob was that the trailer with Gombe number plate, XE 399 GME would not have sent the victims to their untimely graves if the policemen had not stopped the Toyota Hiace bus with a Lagos number plate, AA 49 FST, in which the victims were traveling, to purportedly collect a bribe.

The Police Area Commander, Warri, Assistant Commissioner of Police Shaba Alkali and the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Ekpan Police Station, Ekpan, who also oversees the Ebrumede Police Station, Superintendent Mohammed Muazu, however, denied any complicity on the part of the police in the matter in an interview with Vanguard, yesterday, saying the tanker driver drove dangerously.

Alkali pointed out, nevertheless, that the cause of the accident was still under investigation and both officers noted that a woman was killed under a similar circumstance at the same spot, last Friday, when a truck, belonging to a brewing company rammed into the bus she was travelling in.

He explained that the policemen at the station were armed when the crowd stormed the place but because they did not want to add to the number of casualties, they restrained themselves from firing at them.

The corpses of the victims were removed by men of the FRSC, led by the Unit Commander, Warri, Olusola Olusegun who led his men to the place.

Chairman of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, in the state, Oghenjabor Ikimi, in his reaction condemned the “brutal killing of six innocent Nigerians who were occupants of a commercial bus at a police checkpoint by the DSC roundabout, Ebrumede,, Delta State, arising from an accident caused by policemen who were chasing tanker whose driver allegedly lost control and rammed into the bus at the said checkpoint.

“We (CDHR) make bold to state that the aforementioned actions of the said policemen is not only barbaric but reckless and we call on the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Yakubu Alkali to order the arrest and eventual prosecution of all the policemen involved in the dastardly act”, he stated.
Uduaghan commiserates with families of bereaved

Meantime, the State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has commiserated with the families of six palm oil traders who lost their lives in the accident.

Uduaghan who frowned at the razing of a police station near the scene of the incident, vowed that those responsible for the accident and the razing of the Ebrumede Police Post would be fished out and brought to book.

The governorsaid: “My heart goes out to the families of these women who lost their lives in this most unfortunate way. I pray the good Lord to grant them the strength to bear this loss.”

On the razing of the police station, the governor said: “It is erratic. People should not take laws into their hands; you cannot just come and burn a police station that was donated by a community because you are upset. It is not right and I do not think the community would be happy that the station has been burnt.”

I need to come to terms with what? You NEVER really cared to fast for the thousands of lives that have been lost in the past 2 or so years as a result of this man’s INCOMPETENCE, but you are quick to declare we all need to fast and pray for him just because his ailment is in the news or what?

This same man never wanted to rule Nigeria? Can you please provide evidence for this claim? Or did you have to read his mind to come up with that one?

If he really never wanted to rule Nigeria, why is he having a hard time even handing over to his deputy while he goes to get treatment? Or are you intentionally weaving around the facts for this one?

Why should I try to include this man, who has blood on his hands ( blood of the thousands of lives that have been lost as a result of this man’s inaction) when you never even considered the lives of the thousands he has subjected to next to no quality healthcare in the last 10 years are more precious(Each Vote counts more than anytyhing Yar adua can come up with now)?

Do you remember while Odili,Egwu and other governor were all campaigning for pdp presidency,he never did,he was called on the day of the convention to be the pdp flagbearer,so that shows he never had the intentions to be at the aso rock,
But for God sake he is human and i know he has failed the masses, But still he is still the best presidential candidate during the last election if not for his state of health,i know this man must have performed well,

Religion / Church Worker Rapes 11-yr Old Girl At Vigil by anguskelly: 7:43pm On Nov 29, 2009
A church worker who allegedly raped an 11-year old girl inside the church during a night vigil has been arrested by the police and charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court for rape.

The accused, Ameh Joseph, a worker at the Watchman Charismatic Renewal Movement, Igando district, Lagos State, was said to have not only raped the victim at the church premises but also pursued the little girl to her parents’ residence at 8, Sanctuary Street, Akesan and raped her again.

Luck, however, ran out on him at the residence as he was caught and handed over to the policemen at the Igando police station.

Narrating her ordeal to P.M.NEWS, the victim said she was four times, two at the church premises during the night vigil and the others at her parents’ residence.

The sordid act was revealed when the girl started crying because of the pains she suffered during the act. This attracted the attention of a neighbor who went to the apartment to know what was happening. The neighbour discovered that the victim had been raped and reported the incident to her mother when she returned from the church. The mother reported the matter at the police station and the accused was arrested. He reportedly confessed raping the girl four times.

He was charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court for rape, an offence punishable under Section 218 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 and two responsible sureties.

The magistrate, Mrs. Maimunat Folami ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood brother and must show evidence of means of livelihood, including payment of tax.

The matter has been adjourned till 14 December, 2009 for definite trial while the defendant was ordered to be remanded in prison custody because he could not meet the bail conditions.

I RECEIVED ONE OF THE MOST MIND BUGLING FORWARDS RECENTLY FROM A DUDE THAT SWIMS IN THE VALLEY OF TRASH, AND BELIEVE ME, MY MIND WENT OUT TO ZIMBABWEANS. WE COMPLAIN OUR LEADERS ARE CORRUPT, CHECK THIS OUT

For now, Zimbabweans need your prayers to liberate them from a leadership that only thinks of itself. We need God's intervention because even Kenya is not far from the same. In Uganda , a serving president appointed his wife a cabinet minister. In Tanzania , President Kikwete is fighting war to stop his country people from killing all Albinos for magic portion, 40 albinos have been killed already. Elsewhere, An army chief has given Madagascar rival leaders 72 hrs to resolve political crisis that have claimed 100 lives. In Guinea-Bissau leaders have sluttered themselves in a show of shame over the tiny country resources. In Nigeria , world’s largest black country, leaders preaching gospel of privatisation have accessed funds from State Treasury and applied same in the acquisition of state equities in all the state owned enterprises.
