My Nigerian passport expires September 2019 and I cannot renew it until its 6 months to expiration. Can I still apply for my UK spouse Visa in February 2019? Or do I need to renew my passport first?
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Aquaman84: 8:20am On Nov 15, 2018
Ok sir, please what do you mean by some special notes and photocopies of what? Sorry to trouble you, I just want to understand please.

Lexusgs430:

Simply put into special notes and include photocopies ........ TLS would not accept a passport with under 3 months validity period ......

You are not any of those, you know exactly what you are doing but lazy to read information here.

I replied your post before and told you to email or call British council for type and cost of the test but you did not that, you came back to ask the same question again.

Many people here have been kind enough to report back and list steps and documents they submitted.

I'm more than happy to help when your question has not been addressed over and over again here

I know reading long pages is not easy but this application will cost you more than 1M naira and if you get it wrong you pay another one.

Thanks

Please kindly assist me with step by step information, God bless you guys

@Lexusgs430
She wants me in the UK with her, she has just been stressed lately.

I tort I would submit my documents at TLS like I did for my tourist visa that she will just scan all her documents to me? Or am I to post it to Sheffield?

And if she is to post it to Sheffield, how can she do that?

When you say receipt, do you mean for visa and NHS payment?

I am solely funding the application and it is a non prioritized visa.

I just need to know the steps to get this done that's all, I know the documents to provide both from me and her, I just want to know if I will submit them at TLS? Or will I have to submit then at the UK embassy itself? Or am I to send my documents to her and she sends them to Sheffield? If she is to do so, please what's the address for the Sheffield office.

Thanks

Please assist

Lexusgs430:

She is very busy ? Does she want you in the UK with her or not ?

Would she also be too busy to send the documents to Sheffield?

So she would send all the documents to you in Nigeria, and you would post all the documents back to Sheffield?

You only submit receipt of payment and your passport in Nigeria, all other documents are sent to the UK ......

Is she funding this application or you are fully funding it ?

My point is, it's best both of you put in the effort to achieve a positive outcome.......

Are you using normal or priority visa?

?

Please assist

And yes, you can book a flight (only after you have received the visa)....

* can I apply for the spouse visa alone? Or must my wife apply with me, she says she's very busy and may not have time to do so, that she will provide me with all what I need.
* Do I have to apply through TLS or I've to apply through the British embassy directly?
* can I book a flight after I have gotten my visa?

The information you require is plentiful on this thread. Are you sure you perused this thread very sober ?

Yes you do not need to take English test ........ You can take the gamble, by requesting Enugu state university to give you a letter, stating your course was conducted in English language......... Or not gamble, but send your certificate + transcript to NARIC for conversion.........
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Aquaman84: 8:09pm On Oct 05, 2018
@justwise I think its better I write the test, probably cheaper and convenient. But how do I get information on the location and price Please assist.
Thanks

Is this correct? IELTS SELT Consortium BC NG150 BC Lagos Elion House Hotel Plot 7/8, Agbeke Rotinwa Street,
Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria
Nigeria Permanent IELTS (all facets)

justwise:

Get your degree certificate evaluated by U.K. NARIC or write an English language test. Contact your school to get your original degree certificate, transcript and a letter stating that the course was taught in English language.

You need to register an account with uk NARIC and upload those documents, make payment then they will post the evaluation report within a week to the address you registered with.

Or contact British council for type and cost of the spouse visa English language test.

2 - If you have a degree certificate, that can be converted through NARIC, go down the naric route. If not you need to do ielts test ( ensure you do the right one)
3 - TB injection
4 - Your bank statements not required
5 - read through thread
6 - it's about £2800 (when you add all bits )
7- Spousal visa

Brother do you have any advice on fiance visa??

tos:

Hi OP - You do not need a significant savings to file for your hubby. The only thing you need to prove is that your marriage is genuine. However, ensure that you have minimum of £110 left over after all your bills and living expenses every month. You may send a statement of your monthly income and expenses to the BHC to prove that your hubby would not have any need to make recourse to public funds when in the UK.

My wife (who was my sponsor) only had 49p in her accounts and had no job when I did my interview. But fortunately I had a good job with a multinational coy and good savings. The BHC was only concerned about my ability to secure a job when I get to the UK and proof that I was not going to rely on public funds to survive. I presented all my academic certificates and my bank statements showing significant amount of savings. Fortunately you as the sponsor have significant savings and so your hubby does not have to show that he has money to bring to the UK as it was in my case.

You also need to show that you guys will co-habitate when he gets to the UK by presenting documents such as tenancy agreements in your name and a letter from your landlord stating that your hubby is allowed to stay in the house since you rented the house in your name only. Also send your letter of employment and 3 months pay-slips to your hubby to take along to the BHC. He should make attempt to start applying for jobs in the UK immediately and proof of this should be printed and presented as well.

Ensure that you send a notorised copy of the bio-date page of your passport to your hubby to take with him to the BHC and all the pages in your passport showing the entry stamps during all your visits to Nigeria. This will show that you guys knew each other very well before marrying and that the marriage is not one of convinience. I will suggest you do a civil marriage at the Ikoyi Registry in Lagos as it is the most recognised Registry by the BHC. Also ensure that you take a lot of pictures during the marriage and you can identify all the invitees to the marriage by names. Note that you dont have to invite a lot of people to the Registry. A couple of friends and family members should be enough. I remember that we only invited 6 people (two signed as witnesses) to the Registry in our case.

All the documents you are taking to the BHC should be arranged in a folder and postit papers used to identify them as this will make it convinient for your hubby to present them to the ECO when they are being asked for. The form that you will use for the application is VAF4 for settlement.

Though it's a good thing to attend the interview with your hubby but it's not a requirement (I attended my interview alone). The sample of questions that may be asked at the interview are as follows:

- When did you get married?

- What is your partner's date of birth?

- When/where/how did you meet your partner?

- What does your partner do (what kind of job)?

- Where does your partner work?

- When was the last time your partner visited Nigeria?

- When was the last time you were in the UK?

- Where does your partner live in the UK?

- Mention two landmarks close to where your partner lives?

- Can you describe how to get to Central London from your partner's house?

- How many sibblings does your partner have?

- What are the names of your partner's parents? What do they do?

- Can you identify this person from your wedding pictures (note the ECO will point to anyone)?

- What do you do? What company do you work for?

- How much is your monthly income?

- Why do you want to move to the UK and not the other way round?

The list is inexhaustive. Please note that some of the questions that the ECO will ask are already in the application form that your hubby would have submitted. He should make sure that he does not forget anything. Also if there are things that you guys dont know about each other, this is a good time to start telling yourselves.

If you still have any question, i will be happy to help.

Like I said, you are free to apply. From my experiences, the ECO will definitely see your reason for visit as a potential immigrant intent. Nobody get a visa to visit a girl/boy friend without a solid home ties. You have a job history of less than 6 years and you think the ECO will believed that you will return back to Nigeria.

What I will tell you is that the ECO is an employee so telling him you are going for leave when you are still on probation is very very questionable because he knows what is obtainable and the issue of account @yommieyomi have given you the best advice...this one you are saying your girlfriend is inviting you with force (what the rush)?
Don't cause too many suspicions on your application because you may shoot yourself on the foot and collect free 10yrs visa smiley smiley smiley

Which company will grant you leave under six months of employing you and what is your appointment letter, leave or introduction letter look like?

@justwise @ekpotek @galazito (cool name) and others

Thank you for the responses, let me answer your questions now OK.

I was in my previous company for over 5years as an analyst, when I was being employed in my new company which isn't as big as the old one agreed to give me a 3 month probation because of my experience and gave me a specialist position.

I started February, I will complete 3months in first week of May and intend to send my application end of May. I plan to give the eco/ the month of June to decide on my visas.

I do not plan to travel until July, I've not gotten these documents yet from my office, I'm just doing the calculation. But by the time I plan to travel I would've been with my company for 5momths.

Concerning the payslips/bank statements, I want to include December and January at my old employment and February to may, in my new employment.

But I will try and come up with a way to stall my girlfriend but if I'm not able too, I'll just apply. Maybe when she sees rejected on my passport, she will calm down

Yommieyomi:
Try and wait 6 months in your new job so that you can get 6 month bank statement print out;this must correspond with your payslip monthly payment sent/send to your salary account..this is very important, even if you will support with personal account.

I understand you and bless you for not ignoring my question, but I'm on a deadline and if I don't travel the time I set, I might as well forget the trip entirely. So I humbly ask you, is it possible I include my previous company bank statement, like the first 2months from my old company. Then the other 4months, from my current company?

I plan to travel July if God is on my side, once again thank you.... I have all necessary documents, my girlfriend is inviting me and she's really impatient, I've tried explaining but its a dead end. So what the outcome is, I guess she just wants to see that I tried than assuming I won't get it.
This is my last post concerning this, I'll let you know the outcome though. Fingers crossed

Omobendel, we are all here to learn and understand.
I've never traveled before so I'm just gathering more information concerning this, nothing is certain.
I just saying that, I was in my former job for over 5years, got a better one February based on my experience I was given 3months probation instead of 6months, I will complete that 7th of May. I want to schedule my leave 2nd week of July because I want to apply for UK 6months visa 2nd week of may and schedule my appointment end of may after I've been paid for that month, give the embassy one month grace and if all goes well, I can leave July.
If you want to advice me, then advice me.. We r all here to learn, and it seems no one wants to answer my question. Anyway thanks

I was informed that a person must've worked at least a year in a company before applying for UK visa?? I've been in my previous company 5years plus with crappy pay, got lucky and got a new job through leg of course. I left my old job February 1st week, started my new job second week of February and was given 3months probation which will be completed first week in May, send my application end of May and I'd apply for leave July and travel if all goes well. So this means automatic rejection??

And also, when printing out my bank statement, must I want for the month end before printing it out?/or I can print it out second week of the month or its advisable I wait till month end??
