Crime / Lagos Traffic Robbers On Rampage. Worst Areas, Modus & How To Protect Yourself by aridvalok(m): 7:40am On Oct 27, 2015 |
Reports from across Lagos State indicate an increase in the prevalence of road robbery during peak traffic periods. More recently, areas such as Mile 2, Ijora, Marina, CMS, Costain, Surulere, Ojota, Ogudu, Osborne and Oshodi have reported the highest cases of robbery incidences. From these reports, it is suggested that these incidences typically occur between 5.30am and 6.30am in the morning, and between 7.30pm and 10.00pm at night. The following tips have been developed for the safety of Road users while commuting within the State. 1.Keep valuables away from sight while driving. 2. The use of mobile devices including cell phones, iPads, laptops etc should be minimized while in traffic especially in high risk areas. 3. Avoid driving alone if possible - lone drivers are more vulnerable to attack. 4. Where possible, avoid buying items from street hawkers while in traffic. 5. Items like handbags, laptop bags etc should be kept away from sight while driving in traffic. 6. It is advisable to avoid carrying original documents in your vehicles unless necessary. 7. Avoid driving in dimly lit ‘’short cut’’ areas; stick to main streets as much as possible. 8. Keep windows up and car doors locked at all times while commuting. 9. Do not pick up strangers looking to hitch a ride with you. For staff with drivers, kindly ensure they are well advised to desist from doing such when you are not in the vehicle. 10. It is generally believed that driving in the middle lanes is much safer than staying on either edges of the road. 11. Where possible, have a decoy bag with no essential items in it. 12. Make effective use of your rear view mirrors and monitor activities of street hawkers around your vehicle. If involved in an incident, kindly seek emergency assistance immediately. The Lagos State emergency numbers are 767 or 112. Feel free to add yours or share your experience should you have any. 1 Like |
Travel / Elon Musk: We Need To Leave Earth As Soon As Possible. Are You Ready? by aridvalok(m): 7:41am On Oct 12, 2015 |
In all the billions and billions of planets in our home galaxy, humanity happens to find itself on one perfectly suited for life. Earth isn't without its hazards though. The planet has seen five mass extinctions throughout its history, due to cataclysmic disasters like giant asteroids and massive volcanic eruptions. Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is worried about the next apocalypse. He's so concerned that he thinks we need to get off Earth and become a multi-planet species as quickly as possible, according to a post written by blogger Tim Urban called "How (and Why) SpaceX Will Colonize Mars." Musk's reasoning is straightforward. Maybe by the time the next giant asteroid heads our way, we'll have the technology to shield the planet or redirect the space rock. But if it's something more catastrophic, like a nearby star exploding, we may all get vaporized. Musk says we can't afford to wait around and find out. In his blog post, Urban gives us another way to think about it: Imagine Earth as a hard drive, and every species is a word document saved on that hard drive. The hard drive has already crashed five times (those five mass extinctions), and each time it loses a huge chunk of those documents (species going extinct). So you can think of the human species as an incredibly valuable document created on that hard drive: Now—if you owned a hard drive with an extraordinarily important Excel doc on it, and you knew that the hard drive pretty reliably tended to crash every month or two, with the last crash happening five weeks ago—what’s the very obvious thing you’d do? You’d copy the document onto a second hard drive. That's exactly why Musk is so hell-bent on Mars — it could become humanity's backup drive. Musk doesn't want to send a handful of colonists, either; he'd like to launch 1 million people to the red planet. If we want anything resembling the industry and infrastructure here on Earth, and ample genetic diversity, then we'll need at least that many people to get things going. That's the only way we'll survive as a species on Mars, Musk reportedly told Urban. Later this year, via his rocket company SpaceX, Musk plans to reveal a spacecraft designed to carry as many as 100 people at a time to the red planet. In the meantime, he's teased the world with a vision of how he'd land humans on Mars in a capsule called Red Dragon: Source - http://www.techinsider.io/elon-musk-mars-colonies-human-survival-2015-10

Politics / See Full Text What Buhari Said On Nigeria 's 55th Independence Day Speech by aridvalok(m): 8:13am On Oct 01, 2015 |
55th Independence Day Speech by President Muhammadu Buhari October 1st is a day for joy and celebrations for us Nigerians whatever the circumstances we find ourselves in because it is the day, 55 years ago; we liberated ourselves from the shackles of colonialism and began our long march to nationhood and to greatness. No temporary problems or passing challenges should stop us from honoring this day. Let us remind ourselves of the gifts God has given us. Our Creator has bequeathed to us Numbers – Nigeria is the ninth most populated country on the planet. We have in addition: • Arable land • Water • Forests • Oil and gas • Coastline • Solid minerals We have all the attributes of a great nation. We are not there yet because the one commodity we have been unable to exploit to the fullest is unity of purpose. This would have enabled us to achieve not only more orderly political evolution and integration but also continuity and economic progress. Countries far less endowed have made greater economic progress by greater coherence and unity of purpose Nonetheless, that we have remained together is an achievement we should all appreciate and try to consolidate. We have witnessed this year a sea change in our democratic development. The fact that an opposition party replaced an entrenched government in a free and fair election is indicative of the deeper roots of our democratic system. Whatever one’s views are, Nigerians must thank former President Jonathan for not digging-in in the face of defeat and thereby saving the country untold consequences. As I said in my inaugural speech, I bear no ill will against anyone on past events. Nobody should fear anything from me. We are not after anyone. People should only fear the consequences of their actions. I hereby invite everyone, whatever his or her political view to join me in working for the nation. My countrymen and women, every new government inherits problems. Ours was no different. But what Nigerians want are solutions, quick solutions not a recitation of problems inherited. Accordingly, after consultations with the Vice President, senior party leaders and other senior stakeholders, I quickly got down to work on the immediate, medium-term and long-term problems which we must solve if we are to maintain the confidence which Nigerians so generously bestowed on us in the March elections and since then. As you know, I toured the neighboring countries, marshal a coalition of armed forces of the five nations to confront and defeat Boko Haram. I met also the G7 leaders and other friendly presidents in an effort to build an international coalition against Boko Haram. Our gallant armed forces under new leadership have taken the battle to the insurgents, and severely weakened their logistical and infrastructural capabilities. Boko Haram are being scattered and are on the run. That they are resorting to shameless attacks on soft targets such as I.D.P. camps is indicative of their cowardice and desperation. I have instructed security and local authorities to tighten vigilance in vulnerable places. On power, government officials have held a series of long sessions over several weeks about the best way to improve the nation’s power supply in the safest and most cost effective way. In the meantime, improvement in the power supply is moderately encouraging. By the same token, supply of petrol and kerosene to the public has improved throughout the country. All the early signs are that within months the whole country would begin to feel a change for the better. Preliminary steps have been taken to sanitize NNPC and improve its operations so that the inefficiency and corruption could be reduced to a minimum. Those of our refineries which can be serviced and brought back into partial production would be enabled to resume operations so that the whole sordid business of exporting crude and importing finished products in dubious transactions could be stopped. In addition to NNPC, I have ordered for a complete audit of our other revenue generating agencies mainly CBN, FIRS, Customs, NCC, for better service delivery to the nation. Prudent housekeeping is needed now more than ever in view of the sharp decline in world market oil prices. It is a challenge we have to face squarely. But what counts is not so much what accrues but how we manage our resources that is important. We have seen in the last few years how huge resources were mismanaged, squandered and wasted. The new APC government is embarking on a clean up, introducing prudence and probity in public financing. At an early stage, the federal government addressed the issue of salary arrears in many states, a situation capable of degenerating into social unrest. The APC government stepped in to provide short-term support to the owing states and enabled them to pay off the backlog and restore the livelihood of millions of Nigerians. Fellow Nigerians, there have been a lot of anxiety and impatience over the apparent delay in announcement of ministers. There is no cause to be anxious. Our government set out to do things methodically and properly. We received the handing over notes from the outgoing government only four days before taking over. Consequently, the Joda Transition Committee submitted its Report on the reorganization of Federal Government structure after studying the hand over notes. It would have been haphazard to announce ministers when the government had not finalized the number of ministries to optimally carry the burden of governance. Anyway, the wait is over. The first set of names for ministerial nominees for confirmation has been sent to the senate. Subsequent lists will be forwarded in due course. Impatience is not a virtue. Order is more vital than speed. Careful and deliberate decisions after consultations get far better results. And better results for our country is what the APC government for CHANGE is all about. I would like to end my address this morning on our agenda for CHANGE. Change does not just happen. You and I and all of us must appreciate that we all have our part to play if we want to bring CHANGE about. We must change our lawless habits, our attitude to public office and public trust. We must change our unruly behavior in schools, hospitals, market places, motor parks, on the roads, in homes and offices. To bring about change, we must change ourselves by being law-abiding citizens. Happy Independence Celebrations. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria. |

Romance / Who Is A Virgin? Na Who Be Fool? Who Be Mumu? by aridvalok(m): 8:40am On Sep 12, 2015 |
Many young people are very idealistic about marriage; at least, that is the impression I get when I interact with them. At a youth gathering sometime ago, a young man told me this story and asked for advice. His friend and the fiancée had agreed that there will be no premarital sex, mainly on the insistence of the lady. lovers The young man grudgingly agreed and looked forward to deflowering his wife after wedding, but alas he encountered no roadblock on their first outing. He was angry and disappointed. He then asked me, what should his friend do? It was my turn to fire him questions. “Did the lady tell your friend during courtship that she was a virgin?” He answered no. So the friend only assumed. “What or who is your friend marrying, the virginity or the lady?” “The lady,” he answered. “So what is the problem? This friend who is obsessed with virginity, is he a virgin?” The answer was “no.” A lot of the time we chase shadows instead of substance. Then I remembered a story another friend told me some time ago and I started wondering, who is a virgin? My friend said in a particular country (name withheld because I could not independently verify his tale), it is a crime or taboo for a girl to lose her “virginity” before marriage. So what the girls do is to engage in anal penetration (AKA anal sex) and the men also grope their breasts, bums and other parts of their bodies during pre-marriage relationships. But their hymen (the membrane partially or totally covering the opening of the vagina) is still there for their future husbands to “proudly” break after marriage. My question is: are these girls still virgins? Na who be fool? Who be mumu? Also in some relationships where fiancés and fiancées agree to no sex before marriage, they engage in all forms of sexually intimate acts, except actual vaginal penetration with the penis; are they still virgins? There are lesbians who are actively involved in same sex relationships, but have never been penetrated, so their hymen might be intact, are they virgins? Now it gets a little complicated. A school of thought argues that rape victims, who were virgins before the rape, are still virgins, even though they have been penetrated and the hymen, broken. They argue that as long as they did not consent to the act, they are virgins because consent is a prerequisite for losing your virginity. We know for a fact that sports women and others involved in some physical activities can inadvertently break their hymen. The implication is that there is no evidence to prove their virginity, but can those of them who have never had sex still be classified as virgins? Who is a virgin? The simple dictionary definition of a virgin is “a person who has never had sexual intercourse.” So what is sexual intercourse? Wikipedia says sexual intercourse “is principally the insertion and thrusting of a male’s penis, usually when erect, into a female’s vagina…” This definition is old, traditional and does not address emerging trends. Humankind has “moved” on. Same sex relationships and marriages have been legalised in many countries, a fact Wikipedia acknowledges. So, sexual intercourse now includes “MouthAction,” “anal sex” and “fingering” among many other new trends. So who is a virgin? The definition of a virgin has become a matter of individual interpretations to many, but I will associate virginity with one who is pure, chaste, undefiled, unpolluted and unadulterated. You make your deductions. Many young men want to marry virgins, but cannot find them. Water everywhere, yet none to drink. Who are the pollutants? Why are the virgins scarce? We all know. If married men and women leave bachelors and spinsters alone and bachelors and spinsters keep their hands off one another, there will be an avalanche of virgins. We are knocking our heads over a situation we contributed in creating? To young men looking for “virgins” to marry, this is my take. It is your life and you have a right to live it the way you like within legal limits, of course, but I have issues with people who come to equity with filthy hands. Also, what exactly do you want from marriage? You must have clarity of purpose, so that you do not focus on the ephemeral to the detriment of recurring issues in marriage. Virginity is a virtue and it is good for spiritual reasons and the feel-good factor ( na me disvirgin, actually deflower, my wife), but transgressors should be forgiven. God’s grace, if not, I will not be here running my mouth, sorry pen. I belong to groups who encourage young people to live chaste lives, but we do not condemn others who have made mistakes, because “there is no condemnation unto those who are in Christ Jesus.”(Rom: 8:1). “If the son of man sets you free, you are free indeed.”(John 8:36). The simple message is “go and sin no more.”(John 8:11). Let me conclude with an analogy. Prior apologies for comparing God’s created with manmade objects, but I see a relationship between virgins/non virgins and brand new cars/fairly used cars. Everybody loves a brand new car. We love the freshness, the pride of being the person who tore off the “rubber,” but can everybody afford a brand new car? Again if you are offered a brand new Kia Picanto and a Lexus Jeep that has done only 5000 miles, which one will you choose? Also, between a brand new Honda Accord and a Rolls Royce with a 10,000 mileage, which offers superior performance? Which is better, marrying a virgin you will live turbulently with for the rest of your life or a spouse who is a soul mate, although she had a prior relationship? Virginity is good, godly and holy, but marriage is much more than virginity. Marriage already has trailer-loads of issues. Sort out prior issues during courtship and leave them there; do not import them into marriage. Share your thoughts

Romance / Milk & Milkless Breast Sucking Good For You? The True Secrets Revealed by aridvalok(m): 8:21am On Sep 12, 2015 |
The female breasts, also known as “the twins” or “the girls”, have remained the most conspicuous and attractive feature of the female sexual organ. Perhaps, its strategic positioning and function adds to its importance in the life of a woman. Besides the age long biological function of the breasts as a source of food and nourishment for babies, the breast is also a major source of sexual attraction for the male specie, just as it is also a key sexual organ for the woman, highly sensitive to stimulation. The fact that they come in various shapes and sizes, further add to their uniqueness and endearing place in our hearts as humans.Breast-Sucking As a sexual organ, the breasts have been known to give immense pleasure to both men and women during sexual encounters. In fact, some women have reportedly disclosed that they are capable of achieving orgasm even when thoroughly stimulated through sucking and caressing of the breasts alone. Though, because of this highly sensitive nature, some women find it very uncomfortable or even painful to submit their twin girls to constant sexual manipulation of any kind. Interestingly, men are constantly drawn to the breasts. A lot of this attraction has been attributed to psychological composition, perception and beliefs. For, pray, why would a full grown man be obsessed with sucking some mounds of milkless breasts? I don’t often get logical answers to this question when I ask. The function of the breasts in sexual behaviour has been attributed to human Face -to -Face copulation that is unusual among other mammals. Since the breast already serves the function of mother-infant bonding, then it is also excellent for male -female bonding, says an argument. After all, it is just within reach. For those familiar with some of the social media platforms, you would have come across a particular message that has been making the rounds for a couple of years now. Purportedly attributed to the BBC as source, this message usually springs out during the cancer awareness months and in support of cancer prevention campaign. As expected, it elicits a wide range of controversies from both men and women, from humour to disdain and sexual innuendoes, while some others believe the content hook, line and sinker. The purported message is claimed to have been issued by the Ministry of Health in the fight against breast cancer. One of the versions I have received read thus: Very soon, women will be paying men to have their breasts sucked! According to a report on BBC website, Doctors recommend that women reduce the risk of getting breast cancer by having their breasts sucked thoroughly and vigorously. It is said that regular sucking of the breast lowers the risk level that tends to build up lumps leading to breast cancer. The breast must be sucked as often as possible. Help women fight breast cancer today. Men, please do your part and suck a breast now! And women, please endeavour to make it available regularly…… This message is from the Ministry of Health in the fight against breast cancer. I have tried several times without success to get a confirmation for this story on the mentioned websites including cancer.org and some others in related fields. But perhaps, someone out there knows the original and authentic source of this message? Please share it with us! As interesting as this message may be, as well as the different responses it receives anytime it is being passed around, depending on which side of the divide you find yourself, I am more worried about the health implications attached. Cancer is not something to make jokes out of as it claims millions of lives across the world every year. Again, some frightened lady who hitherto was not in favour of breast sucking may easily submit herself to torture with the belief that she is suffering for a good reason. Please, let us not confuse issues. Breast feeding is not the same as breast sucking. Breast feeding is the process of feeding new born and infants with breast milk. It is this that has been medically proven to be of immense benefit to both mother and child and can prevent breast cancer. There are no scientifically proven studies indicating that breast sucking is of any medical benefit to the the woman whose breast is being sucked or the person doing the sucking. However, what has been scientifically proven is the fact that breast sucking when properly performed is of immense pleasure to the woman and may sometime on its own lead to orgasm or when combined with some other forms of sexual stimulation will help a woman to achieve orgasm quicker. Again, neither has any research shown that breast sucking can give a woman cancer. So ladies, please relax and allow your guys do the job for you. if you are not enjoying the way he is doing it, tell him. I can assure you, it’s a win-win situation Guys what do you think?

Crime / Shoot-out In Lagos: Police, Okada Riders In Fierce Battle For Supremacy by aridvalok(m): 8:09am On Sep 12, 2015 |
Hell was let loose at Festac area of Lagos State, last week, after operators of commercial motorcycle (popularly called okada), in their numbers, engaged a team of policemen in a fierce battle around 7th Avenue. At the end of the shoot-out which lasted for over two hours, one of the motorcyclists was killed while others, including a policeman were severely wounded. How the trouble started Crime Guard gathered that trouble started brewing between the Police and okada riders after several reports were lodged at the Festac Police Division about the increasing reckless and criminal attitudes of commercial motorcyclists in and around the area. It was learnt that there had been series of serious complaints by residents of the area and visitors about the increasing number of the motorcyclists, coupled with their attendant dangers to other road users. Jungle justice Investigations revealed that they raised the alarm after it was noticed that, at the slightest provocation or brush with any motorist, the motorcyclists will invade the scene in large numbers and wreak havoc by either burning the vehicle or cannibalising it. “A few days ago, a Toyota Camry driven by a lady unavoidably brushed the motorcycle ridden by one dishevelled rider”, one of the residents told Crime Guard. “Before one could say Jack Robinson, no fewer than 200 okada riders gathered there in sympathy and before the lady could utter a word, her brand new car was set ablaze in broad daylight. After wreaking the havoc, the jubilant dirty fellows fled in different directions, leaving the lady helpless. Some even rough handled her.” Criminal activities The motorcyclists were alleged to be engaged in all sorts of criminal acts. Police sources said reports indicated that they normally trail people that go to banks to cash money and end up dispossessing them of their hard-earned money. According to one of the sources, “Recently, they waylaid a police patrol team at 4th and 5th Avenue and succeeded in killing one Corporal Emmanuel Emefiele while four of his colleagues escaped death narrowly but with serious wounds. It was an unprovoked attack. They just sighted the patrol team and laid ambush for them. As soon as the policemen approached the spot where they normally park their motorcycles, they went haywire, attacking them with all sorts of dangerous weapons. Police later succeeded in arresting the suspected killers identified as Tari Vadaya Gau and Jona Vadiya. They were transferred to the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID), from where they were remanded in prison custody. Police joint operation Based on these ugly developments, Crime Guard gathered that a combined team of crack police squad from both the Area Command and Festac Division swung into action by embarking on a joint operation aimed at dislodging the motorcyclists and putting a stop to their increasing menace. It was learnt that as soon as the motorcyclists saw the police team personally led by ACP Frank Mba and SP Ifeanyi Owoh advancing towards their base at 7th Avenue, they opened fire on them with sophisticated weapons. Before the shocked police team could realise what was happening, another large number of the motorcyclists emerged from a different direction and started pelting them with missiles. The team reportedly returned fire for fire, and during the exchange that lasted for hours, one of the motorcyclists was killed while several others were severely wounded. Though there were claims and counter-claims over which side killed the deceased motorcyclist, the police also recorded a yet-to-be-known number of casualties on their side. Arrests, recoveries At the end, the police succeeded in arresting about 20 of the motorcyclists and recovered 120 motorcycles. They were later handed over to the State Government Task Force at Alausa for prosecution. Since then, calm has returned to the area while the police has intensified constant raids at criminal hide-outs and black spots in and around the area. A police source intimated that the menace of okada operators has been drastically curtailed since then while serious intelligence gathering is ongoing. Agriculture / Photos: The Chicken That Lived For 18 Months Without A Head by aridvalok(m): 9:51pm On Sep 10, 2015 |
Seventy years ago, a farmer beheaded a chicken in Colorado, and it refused to die. Mike, as the bird became known, survived for 18 months and became famous. But how did he live without a head for so long, asks Chris Stokel-Walker. On 10 September 1945 Lloyd Olsen and his wife Clara were killing chickens, on their farm in Fruita, Colorado. Olsen would decapitate the birds, his wife would clean them up. But one of the 40 or 50 animals that went under Olsen's hatchet that day didn't behave like the rest. "They got down to the end and had one who was still alive, up and walking around," says the couple's great-grandson, Troy Waters, himself a farmer in Fruita. The chicken kicked and ran, and didn't stop. It was placed in an old apple box on the farm's screened porch for the night, and when Lloyd Olsen woke the following morning, he stepped outside to see what had happened. "The damn thing was still alive," says Waters. What happens when a chicken's head is chopped off? http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-34198390 2 Shares

The workers said they are ready to go to any length to achieve their objective. “Some of us are taking N25000, some N30000 and some N40000. They are paying the expatriates N2M monthly. If they don’t need us let them sack us”, Garuba said. If they refuse to sack you are you being held hostage? Why not kukuma sack your self and luckily you could land yourself a better job |

Computers / Is Your Printer Stealing From You? How Do You Spot A Thieving Printer by aridvalok(m): 8:54am On Aug 28, 2015 |
Is Your Printer Stealing From You? Here's How to bust your printer.. Don't let that blank, boxy look fool you: Printers can steal your money and your time if you're not careful. Printer manufacturers have come up with a few creative ways to drain your wallet through ink and toner cartridge costs. Other printer models just make you waste precious minutes fooling around with complicated menu systems or stupidly designed hardware. How do you spot a thieving printer? We've identified some of the leading suspects for each specific crime. But to determine whether your printer is pilfering from you, check its specs and our reviews for these warning signs. 1. If the Printer Is Cheap, the Ink or the Toner Isn't Think you got a great deal on your printer? Think again. It’s a common ploy for printer vendors to sell machines at or below their production cost--and then make their money later on with extremely high ink or toner costs. How can you tell? Do the math: Take the cost of the cartridge and divide it by the page yield—the number of pages the manufacturer says the cartridge can print. (Note that most vendors base their page-yield numbers on industry-standard testing that is designed to represent real-world usage. However, the page yields you obtain may vary, depending on what you actually print.) Some vendors make their page yield information easy to find online (thank you, HP!), while others bury it (we're looking at you, Canon). The cost per page for the printer’s ink or toner does not reflect other printer costs, of course, such as those for an inkjet’s special paper or for a laser’s belts, drums, and other longer-life consumables. 2. Lower-Capacity Inks = Higher Cost Per Page PC World's research has shown time and again that lower-capacity ink and toner cartridges cost you more in the long run. If you print relatively little, it may not matter much, since the high cost is spread over a longer period of time. But if you print a lot, look for ink cartridges with yields above 250 pages, or toner cartridges with yields above 2000 pages. Some printers offer high-yield consumables that can save you a lot more. Here are the worst and best models for cartridge capacity that we've reviewed recently. Worst: Printers with standard-size cartridges that are low-capacity and pricey: Best: Printers that give you lots of ink or toner for a low price: 3. Cheapo Paper Trays One way that some vendors reduce the cost of their cheapest printers is by providing skimpy (low-capacity) or flimsy paper trays. So you save a few bucks at the front end, but then for the life of the printer you have to waste time replacing paper constantly or fighting with a bent plastic extension that rattles annoyingly. Some designs even pile printed pages right on top of blank ones in the same tray. Among the cheesiest models we've seen recently are these suspects: 4. The Waiting Game A slow printer steals your time. But as important as print speed is, you need to take any printer vendor's page-per-minute (ppm) speed claims with a grain of salt: Some vendors quote draft-mode speeds or use other contrivances to make their printers seem faster than they'll actually be in normal everyday use. Here are some particularly slow printers that we've tested recently: 5. Plain Paper or Bust If your inkjet printer requires specially coated paper to produce the best-looking output, you'll end up shelling out a lot for paper over time. Most inkjets can print at least adequately on plain paper, but a few that we've tested recently still can't hack it. Reference : from http://www.pcworld.com www.aridvalok.com

Health / Hand Sanitizer Does Not Prevent Ebola Virus - Harold Thomas by aridvalok(m): 5:54pm On Aug 13, 2014 |
Ebola virus is a deadly disease everybody is scared of being a victim at the moment. Let us today learn about Ebola, and let us go out with patriotic zeal and spread the message to help our people understand and be better informed to fight this deadly virus”. Ebola virus is know to kill far more aggressively when compared to HIV. It can take anything between two and 21 days from initial infection to the first symptoms. What is more certain is that you are now infectious yourself. Your family, friends and anyone in close contact with you are all in mortal danger. While doing my researches online about this ebola disease i found something interesting i would like to share with my fellow nairalands which i believe will be of help to everybody. USEFUL INFORMATION 1.Hand Sanitizer kills 99.9 % bacteria and not virus, Bacteria is far more different from virus the way it operates. he said the use of hand sanitizers is good but does not protect against the Ebola virus. Ebola can be prevented by washing hands with soap under running water and the use of chlorine or bleach. 2. Avoid eating wild animals especially monkeys, chimpanzees and bats, including those found dead and also to avoid eating fruits that bats have partly eaten as this may contain the ebola virus 3. The Ebola Virus is spread by contact with a person infected by the virus, direct contact with body fluids: blood, vomit, sweat, tears, saliva, urine, faeces, breast milk, sperm, vagina secretions and runny nose. Even a sneeze from a friend can contain ebola virus Extracted from http://awoko.org/2014/07/17/sierra-leone-news-hand-sanitizer-does-not-prevent-ebola-virus-harold-thomas/ Read more and share with your friends |
