solomonwis: @solomonwis: The process that I followed was as per the document requirement norms specified by WES for my country (which is as follows): "You may have photocopies of your original mark sheets attested and dated by the Controller of Examinations or Registrar’s Office. Please request for the attested photocopies to be placed in an official sealed envelope and have the envelope returned to you to forward to WES." As my college doesn't send transcripts on its own, I chose the aforesaid method and thus DID NOT violate the WES process in anyway. Please note I merely got the marksheets attested by COE and handed over to the concerned authorities in the college. And yes, I did explain them the process in which the documents are required by WES(as not every college will be aware of WES process). On my request, the college authorities returned the documents in a SEALED envelope. Whether they put any other note/letter in the envelope is something I am aware of. All I know is, that I received the envelope which was stamped and sealed. I took the SEALED envelope and posted it(without opening)along with my degree cetificate photocopy. The point I was trying to make in my earlier post was that we can send things together just to save time. Moreover, another thought to ponder overall is that 1. Controller of examinations will not attest the documents unless you have actually passed an exam from a particular university. 2. How can a college attest the documents without you requesting them to do so. And you will have to produce the original when you go for attestation. Thus you will have to physically visit the college to get the documents attested. So in a way the process has to be initiated by the student. What college gives in a sealed envelope is their discretion. |

LadyGuinivere: Hi just wanted to share some information regarding sending the documents to WES. For evaluation of my MBA degree(completed in India), I approached my college. 1. I got my documents attested and dated from Controller of examinations. 2. I got the WES transcript request form filled, signed and stamped by Controller of examinations. 3. I requested the college authorities to put the documents in University envelope. They obliged and then stamped and sealed the envelope and returned it to me by hand. 4. I got my degree certificate photocopied. 5. I took another envelope, put the university envelope(received in step 3)in it along with the photocopy of my degree certificate. 6. Then i sent both the documents i.e. my degree certificate and my transcripts to WES. 7. These were accepted by WES. Hope this clears some doubts. |

Hi People..I have one more query regarding the Assets and Liablities and the Proof of funds. 1. Can we show the immovable property(in the name of our parents) as our asset or is it necessary that all that assets should be in candidate's name? 2. Same question for proof of funds. Is it possible to show the Fixed deposit (in our parent's name) as proof of funds if we submit an affidavit where in our parents state that they will sponsor us. Any views please share. |

tuamaP: @truamaP: I am sorry.. I shared the link only because it had information which I thought would be useful to people in this forum. I wasn't aware if there was any virus in the link coz I successfully opened the link on my computer. I am not sure what exactly can be done to remove the virus. However, i would advise everyone that if you are too skeptical about the link, then please avoid opening it. |

solomonwis: " @solomonwis: I appreciate your reply. What I understood from this is that EVERY candidate will get 4 points in the 2nd official language. However, from a candidate's perspective, it NULLIFIES the need to acquaint himself/herself with the 2nd official language (coz the candidate will anyway get 4 additional points) and that is something which sounds ILLOGICAL (no offence to anyone) and has left scope for some more thinking. Anyway..without stretching the discussion more, I would say lets wait and see how many points CIC awards for language. As of now, assuming the worst case scenario (i.e. no additional points for 2nd official language) seems to be the safest option. @all: I am stuck with one more problem. My employer is not agreeing to mention the following things in the reference letter: 1. Duration wise designation split-up 2. Number of hours worked per week 3. Designation wise Annual Compensation Is anyone of you facing the same problem? If yes, what steps are you taking to ensure that CIC requirements are met? |

solomonwis: Hi people .. the previous 2 posts have totally confused me regarding the way in which points for language abilities are to be calculated. It would be great if we can explain this with an example: For example, in my case, I have got the following score in IELTS Speaking: 7 Reading: 7 Listening: 8 Writing: 8 My first official language is English. In this case, the points awarded for 1st official language is 24 (6 marks per ability) Now, I have 2 questions regarding the 4 additional points that will be awarded for 2nd official Language: 1. When 1st official language is chosen as English, does it automatically indicate that my 2nd official language is French(even when I dont know french)? 2. If the answer to above question is NO, then does it indicate that my 1st official language as well as 2nd official language is English. In this case, will I get 4 additional points (coz the minimum level is achieved in each of the language abilities)? 3. How does the embassy come to know which is my 2nd official language coz there is no form where we have to specify the 2nd official language? Please clarify. |

solomonwis: Thanks solomonwis for such a detailed reply. Really appreciate it. I have one more query regarding the format of "Letters of reference" from employers. I wish to know if there is any particular format in which these letters need to written? And most importantly, somewhere in this forum, I read that the letters of reference need to be confidential and need to be sent directly to CIC. However, in the check list(IMM5612) given by CIC, they have mentioned that WE and NOT the EMPLOYER should send copies of Reference Letters. The originals may however be requested by the CIC officer later. This means that we should keep the originals with us. Also, I could find any text which states that the letters of reference should be sent directly by employer to CIC. Any comments please share. |

solomonwis: I have 2 queries; 1st query is related to the reply in the quoted post. Is it mandatory to get the reference letters from the employers even when the occupation is not under NOC 2011 list? Before I ask the next question; Here’s a brief background about my education and work experience: B.Sc.:- 34 months of work experience as Programmer Analyst (falls under NOC category 2174) MBA:- 1 year of experience as Bank Manager 1. Clearly, the work experience after my MBA doesn’t fall under NOC category 2011, therefore I don’t want CIC to assess me on the basis of my Post graduate degree and my experience after that. I also don’t want to claim points on the basis of my Masters degree. Have I done the right thing by deciding to submit the ECA report pertaining to my B.Sc. only? 2. In this case, in the form IMM0008ENU_2D, I am confused whether to mention the “Highest Level of Education” as Bachelors degree or Masters degree. The same confusion persists when I fill my education details in the form ‘IMM5669’. Please suggest what should I do? |
