What you did in step 3 was the job of a postman { I don't mean any harm saying that, so please pardon me}. You are not expected to be privy to the process of the transcript being dispatched to WES. I should expect that a letter will follow the transcripts stating that it was issued under confidentiality and it should not find its way into your hands. I am saying this because you are not (obviously not) encouraging people to collect transcripts and dispatch to WES. I can authoritatively tell you that when WES know you were involved in the process of sending the transcript, you will get a status update like "Not Acceptable, Resubmit Document(s) according to WES requirements"

Disclosing that you sent the documents yourself and it was accepted by WES on a forum like this will make things difficult for people in the near future, as the process will be expected to undergo changes to tighten the loose ends and I bet you, they will make research and probably google to sieve out information, they will find nairaland and all the information regarding FSWP. You can imagine what will happen afterwards.

The right thing to do therefore is to request that your school/educational institution(s) send transcripts DIRECTLY to WES. You must never be involved in the process of dispatch, you can expedite the process through whatever means but you should not be seen in the process of communication between WES (or any other assessing authorities) and your educational institution(s).

@solomonwis: The process that I followed was as per the document requirement norms specified by WES for my country (which is as follows):

"You may have photocopies of your original mark sheets attested and dated by the Controller of Examinations or Registrar’s Office. Please request for the attested photocopies to be placed in an official sealed envelope and have the envelope returned to you to forward to WES."

As my college doesn't send transcripts on its own, I chose the aforesaid method and thus DID NOT violate the WES process in anyway. Please note I merely got the marksheets attested by COE and handed over to the concerned authorities in the college. And yes, I did explain them the process in which the documents are required by WES(as not every college will be aware of WES process). On my request, the college authorities returned the documents in a SEALED envelope. Whether they put any other note/letter in the envelope is something I am aware of. All I know is, that I received the envelope which was stamped and sealed. I took the SEALED envelope and posted it(without opening)along with my degree cetificate photocopy. The point I was trying to make in my earlier post was that we can send things together just to save time.

Moreover, another thought to ponder overall is that
1. Controller of examinations will not attest the documents unless you have actually passed an exam from a particular university.
2. How can a college attest the documents without you requesting them to do so. And you will have to produce the original when you go for attestation. Thus you will have to physically visit the college to get the documents attested. So in a way the process has to be initiated by the student. What college gives in a sealed envelope is their discretion.

1.Yes U can send Alllllll your certificates in one envelope. I did that.
2.What will be sent in different envelopes is ur transcript cos they are coming from different bodies.
3. Seal and send on your own? Is that the procedure your school normally take? As long as they will verify when its sent back to them

Hi just wanted to share some information regarding sending the documents to WES. For evaluation of my MBA degree(completed in India), I approached my college.
1. I got my documents attested and dated from Controller of examinations.
2. I got the WES transcript request form filled, signed and stamped by Controller of examinations.
3. I requested the college authorities to put the documents in University envelope. They obliged and then stamped and sealed the envelope and returned it to me by hand.
4. I got my degree certificate photocopied.
5. I took another envelope, put the university envelope(received in step 3)in it along with the photocopy of my degree certificate.
6. Then i sent both the documents i.e. my degree certificate and my transcripts to WES.
7. These were accepted by WES.

Hope this clears some doubts.

Hi People..I have one more query regarding the Assets and Liablities and the Proof of funds.

1. Can we show the immovable property(in the name of our parents) as our asset or is it necessary that all that assets should be in candidate's name?

2. Same question for proof of funds. Is it possible to show the Fixed deposit (in our parent's name) as proof of funds if we submit an affidavit where in our parents state that they will sponsor us.

Any views please share.

1. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/complete-applications.asp ( Though not updated with the current complete application received).

2.No need for spouse to undergo ECA except the spouse is the principal applicant. So no point earned for spouse academic qualifications except the qualifications were awarded in Canada.

3. Each person on the application will have to/MUST present a separate Police Clearance Certificate. i.e one for each,no joint PCC.

CIC has updated the link with the number of applications received!!! Surprisingly only 26 complete applications have been received so far!!!!

AspireCanada I found out that link you have shared got a virus and a lot of computers may not detect if their Antivirus isn't well updated. Please take note and do something about it.

Though I am new to this Land called Naira, I have been following quietly from the background, activities on this forum particularly because I am also an applicant for the Canada Skilled Migration stuff but have been in another forum where people speak less English and do more sharing and advise giving.

Nigerians we need to step up our game and be more creative with our online live. Some dudes from the other forums have been really impressive and many people will look at that and look at this and ask what da fu_c? I mean people take time to give opinions and advises, they show love and respect for man and religion. They behave like they can see each other and know each from somewhere. Others even created database for profiling Various Applicants. The time they sent their Applications, the time it was received, who received it and under what NOC etc.

Unfortunately what we do here is argue and call ourselves names. Dont get me wrong, a lot of our bros and Sis are in those forum too. Lets really help as in the word "HELP". You don't help people and at the same time talk them down. We all certainly gat our prides and Idiosyncrasies.
The truth is nobody knows for certain 100% how CIC works. Its human beings that work there and not machines. I mean people who have feelings and modes just like we do. Some will be seen to have gotten it wrong, yet get a PER while others who may have used the best immigration lawyer either hit the cap or get thrown out over a technical error.
Please lets do things with one spirit. No Boss, No student. We are all here to learn and we are all equal before God. After-all, in the end no one knows who you are and no one may ever get to care about what you are not. I hope someone digme.
I mean no harm, love is beautiful thing!!!

@truamaP: I am sorry.. I shared the link only because it had information which I thought would be useful to people in this forum. I wasn't aware if there was any virus in the link coz I successfully opened the link on my computer. I am not sure what exactly can be done to remove the virus. However, i would advise everyone that if you are too skeptical about the link, then please avoid opening it.

There's no confusion whatsoever, there's a minimum threshold you have to meet in your first language (Your first language can either be English or French). When you meet the threshold, you get an additional 4 points in the second official language.

The idea is,if you can meet the threshold in your chosen language you definitely possess the basic ability in the other language. For instance, your language is English and you meet the minimum threshold then you sure possess the basic ability needed to understand and speak French...Don't forget what you are tested on are your abilities on Speaking,Reading,Writing and Listening either in English or French.

Again, please read through this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp

The link is self explanatory and unambiguous....

1. Yes, your second official language will be French (Even when you don't speak French,as long as you meet the minimum threshold in your first official language,it is assu1. med that you possess basic ability in French even when you are not speaking French).

2. The above explains the question.

3.You get points for Second official Language when you meet the minimum threshold in your first official language.

"
@solomonwis: I appreciate your reply. What I understood from this is that EVERY candidate will get 4 points in the 2nd official language. However, from a candidate's perspective, it NULLIFIES the need to acquaint himself/herself with the 2nd official language (coz the candidate will anyway get 4 additional points) and that is something which sounds ILLOGICAL (no offence to anyone) and has left scope for some more thinking. Anyway..without stretching the discussion more, I would say lets wait and see how many points CIC awards for language. As of now, assuming the worst case scenario (i.e. no additional points for 2nd official language) seems to be the safest option.

@all: I am stuck with one more problem. My employer is not agreeing to mention the following things in the reference letter:
1. Duration wise designation split-up
2. Number of hours worked per week
3. Designation wise Annual Compensation

Is anyone of you facing the same problem? If yes, what steps are you taking to ensure that CIC requirements are met?

You have done well...You need to look at the highlighted parts of your information.Again let me reiterate the fact that you totally misunderstood how points are awarded under Language and I will refer you here to understand better http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp

The bottom line is,you get a maximum of 28 points as the principal applicant under language. 24 points maximum from your English Language OR French result and get an additional 4 points if you meet the minimum THRESHOLD in each of the four language abilities in either English Language OR French.

Absolutely, you do not need to combine both test results from English and French to gain the maximum points. If you however choose and wish to combine, you will need to send both results with your application. You are only showing skills with your abilities in Enlglish and French but it will not earn you anything above the maximum 28 points which you can obviously obtain using the test results from either English OR French.

Please guide/educate yourself with that link above.

Since when has Famarha Immigration service become "the authority" in dictating how documents are to be prepared? The authority is with CIC and you are to be guided by the checklist. You see what I observe about the agents and their wonderful work is to make the whole process look cumbersome and make you think you need to go to hell and return before you can scale through. Yes,you need to be thorough but you don't need to incur unnecessary cost.

Do you know what it means to get documents notarized in some countries? I agree in Nigeria,it is pretty easy but in some countries it cost a whole lot and the process is cumbersome.

Let me state again that I am not against notarization, absolutely not but IT IS NOT A MUST and YOU WILL NOT BE PENALIZED or your application DELAYED as been touted. You are equal to the person who decides to notarize when you don't.

Hi people .. the previous 2 posts have totally confused me regarding the way in which points for language abilities are to be calculated. It would be great if we can explain this with an example:

For example, in my case, I have got the following score in IELTS
Speaking: 7
Reading: 7
Listening: 8
Writing: 8

My first official language is English. In this case, the points awarded for 1st official language is 24 (6 marks per ability)

Now, I have 2 questions regarding the 4 additional points that will be awarded for 2nd official Language:
1. When 1st official language is chosen as English, does it automatically indicate that my 2nd official language is French(even when I dont know french)?

2. If the answer to above question is NO, then does it indicate that my 1st official language as well as 2nd official language is English. In this case, will I get 4 additional points (coz the minimum level is achieved in each of the language abilities)?

3. How does the embassy come to know which is my 2nd official language coz there is no form where we have to specify the 2nd official language?

Please clarify.

There's no particular format for the letter of reference. However the letter will include details such as
1.The specific period of your employment with the company
2.The positions you have held with the company and the time spent in each position
3.Your main responsibilities and duties in each position
4.Your total annual emolument in each position and other benefits
5.The number of hours worked per week in each position

You may choose to include a copy of your letter of employment/letter of employment confirmation/promotion letter.

If you are self employed, you must provide 3rd party attestation/documentation indicating the services rendered and the payment relating to each service rendered.

Note that the letter MUST be written on the company letterhead, signed/stamped/sealed by the HR/Admin department or whichever department/unit is responsible for personnel management, the letterhead must carry the official address of the company, telephone number(s) and email address.

The letter will have to be PHOTOCOPY, original letter can be retained by the applicant until such a time the CIC/case officer calls for it.

The letter has to be sent along with other documents by the applicants and not by the issuing organization(s).Please ignore anywhere where it is stated that the letter has to be confidentially dispatched to the CIO

Thanks a lot Solomonwis.. you are really doing a good job by sparing time to guide people in this forum.. keep the good work going smiley smiley

Your Masters degree will carry much weight than your Bsc not minding if the discipline under which you obtained your masters degree is not in the eligible occupation. It is advisable to include your MBA qualification in the educational credentials assessment.

Having said that,it behoves on you to package your work experience in line with the job description in the NOC website. In your case, your work experience while you worked with your Bsc {as a programmer analyst}will come in useful here just so you can gain the minimum work experience of one year {since you have had more than one year work experience with your Bsc degree}. You will still include your work experience after your masters degree not minding the fact that it will not count towards your earning additional points with work experience. You will be required to include the details of your work experience in the last 10 years,it is left for your case officer to exclude your work experience as a Bank Manager if you so wish to be assessed with your Bsc qualification.

This is important because you stand a better chance than a Bsc holder and you are seen as possessing the potential to diversify {Which your MBA portrays}.You will also earn more points with your educational qualification after the assessment.

Finally, let me state that you have a choice to make as to which qualification under which you want your application to be assessed.if you consider you stand a better chance with just your Bsc qualification, then you can present that and you can keep your MBA. This means your highest educational qualification will be Bsc and you will state that in all applicable forms. For work experience, you must state all the work experience you've had in the last 10 years whether they relate to the eligible occupation you want your application assessed. You must however emphasise on the programmer analyst work experience as this will count towards earning points under educational qualification.

I hope the above clarifies.

Thanks solomonwis for such a detailed reply. Really appreciate it. I have one more query regarding the format of "Letters of reference" from employers. I wish to know if there is any particular format in which these letters need to written?

And most importantly, somewhere in this forum, I read that the letters of reference need to be confidential and need to be sent directly to CIC. However, in the check list(IMM5612) given by CIC, they have mentioned that WE and NOT the EMPLOYER should send copies of Reference Letters. The originals may however be requested by the CIC officer later. This means that we should keep the originals with us. Also, I could find any text which states that the letters of reference should be sent directly by employer to CIC. Any comments please share.

You will state it as it is. That is, you will state your occupation as your current designation. This is because you will need to provide a work reference that will state your present designation and job description.

This however has to conform to the NOC list. You will state the eligible occupation and code under which you want your application assessed in form IMMM0008.

I have 2 queries; 1st query is related to the reply in the quoted post. Is it mandatory to get the reference letters from the employers even when the occupation is not under NOC 2011 list?
Before I ask the next question; Here’s a brief background about my education and work experience:
B.Sc.:- 34 months of work experience as Programmer Analyst (falls under NOC category 2174)
MBA:- 1 year of experience as Bank Manager
1. Clearly, the work experience after my MBA doesn’t fall under NOC category 2011, therefore I don’t want CIC to assess me on the basis of my Post graduate degree and my experience after that. I also don’t want to claim points on the basis of my Masters degree. Have I done the right thing by deciding to submit the ECA report pertaining to my B.Sc. only?

2. In this case, in the form IMM0008ENU_2D, I am confused whether to mention the “Highest Level of Education” as Bachelors degree or Masters degree. The same confusion persists when I fill my education details in the form ‘IMM5669’. Please suggest what should I do?
