I appreciate your kind words.

Yes, there is hope for Agriculture in Nigeria. You rushed in and rushed out like 99.999% farmers. They turned farmers overnight by listening to agro-chemical sellers and seed sellers. grin

I just keep asking myself. They spent 30 years doing full time job and they think it is farming they will do after retirement. But they never even think for a minute that the same way biology is prerequisite to medicine, is the same way agricultural science is prerequisite to farming. The energy they use in jumping into farming unprepared is equal to the force they always crash. Why don't they jump into becoming doctors and nurses after retirement? Nigerians have no respect for the Agricultural profession.

And most that even seek experts' opinion want to control the expert. They want to shape the expert. So, why can't they just do it themselves. Well, most just want to rush into it. Personally, I will NEVER again set up farm for an individual. Also, I will NEVER consult for individuals. NEVER.

Blessed are those who will actively participate to make this thread a success. Most will not even read it because they are looking for "rank xerox" approach.

If you do not want to crash, please read on and participate in this discussion.

Thank you, but you can consult companies it's better

Agriculture / How To Make Money Producing Chicken Meat In Nigeria by Autopilotcash(m): 6:19am On Aug 18, 2016
You can make money producing chicken meat in Nigeria now that there is serious ban on imported meat products.

Chicken meat is produces from Broiler Birds or chicken. They are improved breeds of meat chicken that reaches 2.8kg average weight in 7-8 weeks.

Nigerians like to produce this type of chicken only during festivities like Christmas, Sallah, and Easter.

This is the time that most people buy chicken meat to eat in their homes.

But the real business of chicken meat production is not only during festivities, but all the time.

If you want to make money from chicken all year round, this few tips will help you;

1. Learn how to brood the Day old chicks successfully.
2. Learn how to reduce chicken mortality percentage drastically. This is so because any dead chicken will eat into your profit margin.
3. Learn how to feed well and booster chicken growth and performance. The idea is to reach maximum weight in a shorter time.
4. Get interested buyers like hotels, eateries, suya joints and pepper soup joints even before you begin.
5. After you get most of them to required weight, then clean them up and put in coldroom to freeze and become frozen chicken.
6. Now you have poultry meat product to sell. Inform those your customers you told earlier that your chicken meat is ready.
7. Place a profitable price and sell.

To your agricultural business success!

Business / Re: Faeces Litter At Ogbete Market In Enugu by Autopilotcash(m): 5:54am On Aug 18, 2016
[Faeces will litre the market because we have no desire to be productive.
That thing called faeces or human excrater is a a veritable fertilizer for vegetable plants is gathered and poured in a farm to grow vegetable.
Trully, Nigerians have become lazy and unproductive even to produce food for themselves and their children, and now prefer to die of hunger.quote author=metromediaboss post=48553236]According to a www.metronaija.com reader,

"The prison soakaway in Ogbete main market Enugu, Enugu state got spoilt for close to one month and the faeces passes through this line and the appropriate authorities seem so adamant about this, leaving these poor women and men to inhale the faeces and also obstructing their business because people hardly pass through there because of the stench that comes out of the line. Soo many has taken ill because of this. Please kindly share for the world to see and may be they will do something about it".

What a shame & disaster. Can the government do something about this asap? More pics after the cut

Re: Hidden Truth About Catfish Farming.
I would first like to commend the writer for coming out openly with the fact that catfish farming is not so easy to do and get rich.
Like other businesses, it has its up and down, especially, when the producer does not know so much about the process of production that results in profit.

Catfish farming is not about how big the investment is.

I have seen some big fish farms with many pond facilities and personnel close and those stocking 200 pieces selling at profit .

It all depends on what you know

Agriculture / Cheaper Floating Fish Feed Machine Available In Nigeria by Autopilotcash(m): 11:42pm On Aug 16, 2016
Cheaper catfish floating fish feed machines, otherwise called extruders are available now I'm Nigeria.

Before, in the past, fish feed production was done using pelletized machines which usually result to sinking feed.

Sinking feed, could be nutritionally balanced for the animals growth performance, yet for the fact that it is not floating on water like the foreign feed became less sought after in the market.

As the demand for the imported fish feed increased and its availability became scarce, farmers are wondering what next to do.

The extruder machines normally come as a whole set of units of machines which runs into several millions of naira.

This makes it difficult for farmers to have it in their farms.

But now, a cheaper brand of the machine can be acquired for a lesser amount.

The machine capacity is from 60-80kg/h going to 500kf/h to more.

With the use of these kind of machine anyone would be producing and packaging a highly nutritious floating fish feed.

Now that there is no imported fish feed in Nigeria , how will catfish farmers feed there fish.

No one expected that one day there was going to be a scarcity or even outright unavailability of catfish feed usually, imported into Nigeria.

But it happened.

For over 3 Months now there has been sready scarcity of imported catfish feed in Nigeria, forcing many fish farmers to get there fish feed at a very expensive price.

Before now, there has been the popular types of fish feed like COPPENCE, MULTIFEED and AQUAFEED, but they care no longer easily available and affordable.

Apart from using the "LOCAL FEED" as our locally made fish feed is fondly called, how else can a fish farmer get good floating catfish feed?

Would the farmer have to stop feeding his fish because there is no imported fish feed?

Mustche even continue to buy the already expensive feeds and end up producing your fish at a loss?

No.

Many customers calling my lines are bemoaning their fate for lack of feed which is the reason they said they cannot stock more than 2,000 fish, until I introduce them to my fish feed which was used to fatten many stunted fishes @ Abuja, Suleja in 2008 to 20013.

[I like your post encouraging us to build feetolizer processing plant in Nigeria, and i have become interested. Can you furnish me more information, quote author=Frady2015 post=48295633]As a farmer, do you need cheap fertilizers ?

We supply farmers organic fertilizer and compound fertilizer such as urea, nitrogen fertilizer, phosphate fertilizer and K-fertilizer with high capacity and reasonable price.

As a big fertilizers export country, the fertilizer price is lower than other countries and lower than the price in your country. So, we really welcome more fertilizer dealers will contact us for further cooperation.

As a local fertilizer dealers and suppliers, do you want to start an organic fertilizer plant or compound fertilizer plants?

Staring a fertilizer plant is low investment, but long and high return. So, i think local fertilizer dealers and suppliers should consider opening a own fertilizer plant, and selling fertilizers for local farmers and working as a big fertilizer manufacturer !!!!!!!! Farmers need more fertilizers, and you can provide them directly. So, why not start a fertilizer plant?

AZEUS fertilizer machinery located in Zhengzhou, China. We mainly provide all kinds of fertilizer manufacturing machines for fertilizer dealers and fertilizer businessman who want to build their own fertilizer plants.

Politics / Re: Significant Local & Foreign Investments Are Coming To Nigeria— VP Osinbajo by Autopilotcash(m): 5:18pm On Aug 16, 2016
[Concerning the report by the Vice President, Proff. Yomi Osibanjo, that many big compamies are coming to invest in Nigeria, and for all the names he mentioned, I particularly, feel a bit concened, that the ordinary Nigerian is not captured in that statement or interview.

To the extend that big companies coming to open farms will rub the ordinary Nigerian the opportunity to grow, develop a booming agricultural business.
Also, the culture of "finding jobs" by Nigerian's will continue, which makes them workers but not owners. quote author=presidency post=48535529]SIGNIFICANT LOCAL & FOREIGN INVESTMENTS ARE COMING TO NIGERIA—-VP OSINBAJO

LISTS GENERAL ELECTRIC

BIGGEST MEXICAN AGRIC FIRM

DANGOTE REFINERY

INDORAMA

HONEYWELL SORGHUM PLANT

OTHERS AMONG FORTHCOMING MAJOR VENTURES IN NIGERIA

Nigeria’s investment projections both foreign and local are very promising, according to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.

Prof. Osinbajo spoke during a press interview in Lagos after participating in the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Presidential Policy Dialogue on Thursday.

Below are excerpts from the interview in Q & A format:

Question: Are you seeing any early signs of investments coming anytime soon?

Vice President: Oh yes! For example, General Electric is about to make a very very significant investment in the country.

There are investments that are already coming in for railing stock for railways and obviously the reason why this is the case is because we’re doing two rail lines; the Calabar-Lagos rail line and the Lagos-Kano rail line.

So investments are coming in for railing stock, there are many such investments that people are looking at, because really, when you look at it, this is a country of 170 million people and a very very vibrant economy for that matter.

So investments people certainly are looking at investing in the country. And this is so even in agriculture, there’s an initiative, a major Mexican company, in fact possibly their leading farmers, producers of agricultural produce from Mexico who has come in to Nigeria is already investing in 10 states, especially pineapples and bananas, vegetables and fruits.

I think the scope for investments is there, the appetite is there and I believe that what everyone is looking forward to is just signs that things are stabilizing, that the environment is one where there is governance and that there is consistency in the policy.

Q: How does foreign investments fit into the fiscal mix?

Vice President: Well let me say that first, both local and foreign investment is crucial in the turn around that we expect, we expect that deregulation and the flexible exchange rate would lead to an increase in the inflow of not just foreign direct investment but also portfolio investment.

We expect that that will happen, of course we’re not necessarily overly excited and enthusiastic about portfolio investment that we want to see, this is hot money and it will go and come.

But we are focused on ensuring that enduring investments, in the form of FDI(foreign direct investment) are coming.

But we are also focusing on local investment, some of the investments that we’re seeing, to mention a few: the Dangote Refinery, 650,000 barrel refinery, there’s the fertilizer plants, the Indorama one, the sorghum plant that is being done by Honeywell, there’s the 500-kilometre subsea pipeline that’s also a Dangote project, the gas pipeline.

Now these are very significant local investments and we expect that if these local investments are encouraged and we are encouraging them, and they come on stream in the timelines that they have specified most of them should come on stream between now and 2019, most of them.

All of these that i’ve mentioned should come on stream, we expect that this will be very very significant in terms of even changing the fiscal landscape.

For example refining capacity of 650,000 barrels means that domestic refining has come to be and it means that the impact of importation of refined petroleum products on our foreign exchange reserves will significantly diminish because we will then obviously just be doing practically everything locally, refining practically everything locally.

The same as fertilizer which requires import, sorghum, and the various other things. So we think local investment is absolutely important and we’re supporting local investments with everything that is possible giving necessary incentives and all of that. Now, we also expect that with the flexible exchange rate just as I’ve said, obviously this will encourage foreign investments. Everyone knows that Nigeria is the next frontier for investment, there may be difficulties and complications here and there now, but I don’t doubt at all, I mean even going by what we see today many foreign investors are keenly interested in investing in the Nigerian market.
