Islam for Muslims / Re: Muslims Fight To Defend Their Prophet And Christians Dont? by axk745: 8:56pm On Oct 03, 2012
Why we don't fight for God.

First of in a way Jesus has no enemies like we natural human beings. Jesus is God in the flesh and God made all things including those who oppose him. A real enemy has to be capable of doing harm. It is inconceivable that what God made could harm Him. God allows all those who blaspheme and oppose him to exist because of it His nature to wait for them to repent so He could show them mercy. (Ez. 18:23)

Consider the following scripture:

Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve Luke legions of angels?
Matt 26:52-53 (ESV)

And when those who were around him saw what would follow, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?” And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. But Jesus said, “No more of this!” And he touched his ear and healed him.
Luke 22:49-51 (ESV)

* Jesus last miracle was restoring the ear of Malchus the priest's servant, after Peter cut it off with his sword. Jesus made it abundantly clear by example that we don't fight with swords like the world does. Jesus himself instructed his disciples to bring swords to the garden and yet told them not to use them. One reason why the Lord did this was to teach them one last lesson. We are not of this world, we don't fight like the world fights.

* If we fight we would be following them committing the same sins as thy have and fall into condemnation.

Beloved,do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God.
3 John 1:11-12 (ESV)

* Jesus warned that all those who follow him will face persecution. It's nothing new. Christianity exists today because of the perseverance of countless saints who refused to renounce their faith in the face of persecution.

* Christians fight an unseen enemy. We fight with prayer and wisdom from the word of God.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places
Eph 6:12 (ESV)

For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:4 (ESV)

* Finally human reasoning and logic cannot understand the things of God. Rather they will deceive you. God is a mighty King. He will NEVER come down to our level of reasoning and prove Himself like a cheap magician.

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
I Corinthians 2:14 (ESV)

We don't speak about these things using teachings that are based on intellectual arguments like people do. Instead, we use the Spirit's teachings. We explain spiritual things to those who have the Spirit.
A person who isn't spiritual doesn't accept the teachings of God's Spirit. He thinks they're nonsense. He can't understand them because a person must be spiritual to evaluate them.
(I Corinthians 2:13-14, GodsWord)

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness,”
I Corinthians 3:18-19 (ESV)

* If you have doubts and are really seeking for the truth, try the God of Isaac and Jacob and He will reveal himself to you.

yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, 4 if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
Prov 2:3-6

I wouldn't rush to say you should dump sha.  This is mostly just a difference in priorities. I would say that both of you draw up a detailed budget and plan in detail how and plan which one comes first. If she continues then,

Every woman flaws, it's your maturity in handling disagreements and commitment to make changes that matters more. If she's a committed christian and she's growing then there's hope she can change. Marriage is a commitment to lifetime growth, this is just the beginning.

Politics / Evidence Boko Haram Leader Was Alive When Captured by axk745: 8:42am On Aug 03, 2009
From
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/8180475.stm

he BBC has obtained a photograph which shows that Mohammed Yusuf, the leader of the Boko Haram sect in Nigeria, was alive when captured by the army.

They handed him over to the police. A few hours later, journalists were shown his bullet-ridden body.

The police said he had been fatally wounded while trying to evade capture.

Mr Yusuf's Islamic sect is blamed for days of violent clashes with security forces across northern Nigeria, which killed hundreds of people.

Human Rights Watch in Nigeria have called for an immediate investigation into the killing of Mr Yusuf, 39, which they called "extrajudicial" and "illegal".

On Friday, the army commander of the operation against the Boko Haram group, Col Ben Ahanoto, said he had personally captured Mr Yusuf and handed him over to the chief of police in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.

He said Mr Yusuf had a wound in his arm - which is clearly shown in the photograph - which had already been treated.

The police, however, insisted he had been fatally wounded in combat.

Officials said the group were in a deplorable state

The police commissioner of Borno state, Christopher Dega, said Mr Yusuf "was in a hideout, and the forces went there and there was an exchange of fire".

"In the course of that confrontation, he sustained his own injury. He was picked up and he later couldn't make it."

Earlier, police sources had offered a different version of events, saying Mr Yusuf was killed while trying to escape from custody.

Meanwhile, another group of women and children, abducted by the Boko Haram sect, has been rescued from a locked house in Maiduguri.

Officials said the latest group of 140 was in a deplorable condition, suffering from pneumonia, fever and rashes.

Last week, the police rescued about 100 young women and children from a house on the edge of the city. Many said they were the wives of sect members, and had been forced to travel to Maiduguri from Bauchi state.

The BBC reporter in Maiduguri says the Boko Haram sect believed that their families should accompany them to the battlefield.

Hundreds of people were killed in Maiduguri alone during violent clashes between police and the Islamic sect.

Col Ben Ahanotu, head of security in Maiduguri, said that mass burials had begun there.

The Boko Haram compound, he said, was being used as one of the burial sites because bodies were decomposing in the heat.

Life in the affected areas is now beginning to return to normal with banks and markets reopening.

Maiduguri is the capital of Borno state but the fighting spread to cities across the north of the country and the total number of dead is unknown.

A military spokesman said two of those killed were soldiers and 13 were police officers.

The number of injured, meanwhile, is still being counted. The Red Cross had earlier said about 3,500 people fled the fighting.

The violence ended on Thursday with the death of Mr Yusuf

Computers / Re: Best Computer Antivirus Software? by axk745: 4:50pm On Jun 13, 2006
I still use McAfee 7 cos the interface is not so cpu intensive but the antivirus definitions are always current and it's also important to:

1. run windows updates via the browser regulary (or turn on automatic updates on win xp to handle it 4 u). Without patching holes/exploits in ur OS viruses and worms may still find a way in no matter how good the antivirus is (this is partly why antivirus sw are not neccessary in linux).

2. if u can, use a hardware gateway/router/firewall cos they're not affected by viruses (since they don't run windows) and so that ur system is not directly exposed to the internet.

3. If u can avoid internet explorer (IE) or download the newest beta version. OR better still switch to firefox (which I use) or opera etc. They're immune to many harmful websites that target IE. since 99% of all spyware comes in through IE, I rarely use antispyware cos of this.

4. It's also good to use more than one antispyware sw if u happen to have an infection. I can't remember the review I read on Cnet but one antispyware sw can't catch them all. Windows Defender and Spybot SD should do and they're both free.
Computers / Re: Ict Village In Abuja by axk745: 3:44pm On Jun 13, 2006
This just displays the quality of govt decision making. Instead doing things improving electricity, increased funding for computer education for universities and secondary schools, promoting open source (like india and some south american countries) and reducing import duties on IT related imports. I would rather they improve the existing structures in place to develop IT *all over the country* instead of building a "village" in abuja.
Romance / Re: Why Is It Bad When A Woman Sleeps With Many Men But Cool When A Man Does Same? by axk745: 7:58pm On Jan 24, 2006
maybe it's because ....

it's a man's world and women have had to put up with it cos they have no choice...

cos of the way women and men choose their spouses. Women are less bothered with a man's sexual history than men are. Other qualities may be more important to them..

some women may acutally prefer men like that, kind of like comparing James Bond to the 40 yr old virgin. And men that waka about are more likely to have that image of confidence and strength that women like.

maybe it's cos of the way women and men see sex. Men are usually less emotional about it.

ps. I'm not in any way trying to make excuses for men's hypocrisy.. i'm just saying what i have observed or think i have..
