It's a product review thread and it wouldn't be nice to mislead people. But like I suggested there are other threads on natural hair and the products that work. If you think we can't 'afford' to put shea butter on natural hair you should look them up too. Posted on: September 29, 2010, 10:31 PM @Gamine: duhhh! ![]() and for the record, here is what she said. read thru d first line and tell me if i suggested to her frst that shea butter is a bad idea Posted by: browncocos Insert Quote @ Gamine Thanks a lot for the benzonite clay thingy as for the products I found out shea butter actually makes my hair really hard not sure if its because its the first growth of nappy hair I read on one akata forum that the first nappy hair growth after transitioning is often resilient and girl my hair gives me serious headache can you believe that? Huh and to think Ive always had really soft and manaegable natural hair before the perm. so what mindset do you think I have about manageable nappy hair Grin I just realy want it to remain soft not oily and heavy you get what I mean. I guess have some reading to do lemmi peruse this thread again thanks doll! |

I guess have some reading to do lemmi peruse this thread again thanks doll! Yeah you should look around this Fashion section, there are threads which focus mainly on hair. I transitioned also and never had problems with shea butter. You should mix it with Oil, Olive Oil like I mentioned for example. The mindset is that somehow overnight your hair would become soft (like brazilian/indian hair.lol) You have to cultivate a culture of using such things and also understand for yourself what these products actually do for the hair. Quote from: AyoB on Yesterday at 02:45:42 PM @browncocos: hmmmn. i certainly can imagine your mindset cos your hair is definitly one of d first tins dt makes an impression. Shocked, i dnt tink u shud use shea butter 4 natural hair. at least, not if its already disvirgned or 2nd growth of natural hair. Grin, i dnt tink your hair will absorb it well. pele. am sure d akata forum was referring to dia own nappy hair wich defintly isnt same wit ours. our own na kinky. dia own na nappy. go figure! lol. mayb u shud try dia shampoos n leave-in conditioners 4 natural hair and am sure if u check hair products, u wud find somfin non-greasy, light n gud 4 your hair. wud let u knw if i find any. cheers gal Wink : I don't understand, you said Shea butter was good for your hair and you are telling her not to use it? What is the difference between nappy and kinky?? Why is their hair different?? I don't call my hair any name though, It is just tightly coiled hair. @Gamine: madam, calm down. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Posted by: yjay Insert Quote @ayob, casabella is a beauty store at the palms, its relatively new plus they seem to ve some products that u wldnt ordinarily find in nigeria which is a PLUS PLUS, u cant miss it, its like a shop away from health plus which they also own by the way, hmm, hope the description helps. then abt the dark underarms, i personally shave at night cos i feel it gives my skin time to breathe, heal etc before applying deodorants/perspirants in the morning, also every time i shave i exfoliate and moisturise with shea butter, even if u get bumps from shaving with watever method u decide to use, be rest assured that once u ve applied the shea butter, the bumps are gone by morning that shld keep your underarms looking nice. if after a few weeks, u arent pleased with the results which i doubt u can use a lightening agent to bleach the area and use a cream containing niacinamide to maintain results, cream containing loads of that(OLAY QUENCH) ayo o ma san owo ooooooo, gosh Wink Posted on: Yesterday at 08:16:52 AM @Yjay: tnx alot dear. that helps a gr8 deal. nxt wkend definitly. yea, i use shea butter wen i shave too n it sho helps. guess, i was hoping 4 magic. lol. elo ni owo e? lolz. am sure i cant afford 2 pay 4 ur consultation yet. tnx tho n tk ![]() |

@browncocos: at first, d only tin i kud see was ur face jumping outta my screen n i almost freaked out. lolznot in a bad way o. anyway, after a coupla mins, i figured out hw to view d "epistle'. funny tin is, i tink d spam tin actually had let it thru cos its posted abt 3 times on d thread. anyway, seeing it on ur profile confirmed it. so, yes. i got ur 'epistle' tnx. one recurrent tin seems to be black soap n shear butter. i will check wich is readily accesible btw village fresh n ur alata samina. wicheva i lay hands on first, wins d race. lol. but wats KESSA? wud i get it from health stores or from d omo elewe too? pls dnt tell me i ve to come to abuja to get it though i wont mind Dr sandra's mix sha. ve to confess, d KESSA is interesting. so, KESSA(if i can get it), black soap n shear butter(wich is easy to get wia i am). hw much does Dr sandra's Glow cream go for? like a price range? |

Posted by: Gamine Insert Quote I honestly have never really given this much thought, but, added to Meladerm, I'm thinking Exfoilation, Black Soap and Sunscreens. I would go and check, but Mad_Max and co would probably give the best answers. Posted on: Today at 01:55:05 PM @Gamine: tnx. @Madmax and Yjay: waiting on ur suggestions! |

@ Yjay, Madmax, Gamine: Ladies pls i have another equally important issue. i knw meladerm has been recommended earlier for hyperpigmentation and such but wat i need is somtin that will lighten my underarms for me. i see gals with smooth and light underarms and am envious but each time i lift my arms (wich isnt always cos am conscious), it seems every1 eyes is drawn to it and i cant help feel its cos its probably dark and slightly bumped. i use a shaving cream(Veet for sensitive skin) yet some frnds use shaving stick n get beta results. each time i try shaving stick, i brk out in bumps. pls what can i use as an antiperspirant and do i need to change my shaving cream? maybe, its causing my underarms to be dark eh? tnx |

Posted by: yjay Insert Quote 4 real? was actually tinking if i kud lay my hands on d neutrogena visibly even wit SPF 30, twud be nice to combine wit d regenerist but as it is, no chance of that i guess. wont mind returning to Olay quench since its easier to get but hw to get d regenerist is d issue now. do u ve any idea how to get it in naija? maybe shoprite or somwia dt dont cost the 8000 previously posted hia, Lawd ve mercy! a friend even recomended fair and white bar soap (the brown one) which she assures me does nothing more dan exfoliate. i dunno but wud just stick to village fresh 4 now anywayz. tnx though. Quote u can get the regenerist serum at the palms(casabella) and its for 3900.trust me once u start u ll get hooked on it, and u can use your neutrogena spf 30 on it since the serum doesnt ve any spf protection @Yjay: tru talk! in that case, am onto it like white on rice. wow! and even at that price, am definitly onto it. tnx gal. yea, hope i get d neutrogena at d palms too. tnx a whole bunch |

Posted by: Mad_Max Insert Quote AyoB, you can use Olay regenerist AND Olay Quench; the regenerist is sort of a moisturising 'foundation' for the face, you can use your regular moisturiser over it if you wish. You don't have to 'choose' or anything; they do different things and won't interfere with each other. 4 real? was actually tinking if i kud lay my hands on d neutrogena visibly even wit SPF 30, twud be nice to combine wit d regenerist but as it is, no chance of that i guess. wont mind returning to Olay quench since its easier to get but hw to get d regenerist is d issue now. do u ve any idea how to get it in naija? maybe shoprite or somwia dt dont cost the 8000 previously posted hia, Lawd ve mercy! a friend even recomended fair and white bar soap (the brown one) which she assures me does nothing more dan exfoliate. i dunno but wud just stick to village fresh 4 now anywayz. tnx though. |

Posted by: Gamine Insert Quote I think any black soap would do. We currently use Village Fresh. Bentonite clay won't be sold at your local beauty store, I don't think. But hey don't worry about it. Thanks. will look 4 village fresh. its always in a plastic container right? if i dnt get dt, will settle for dudu osun. tnx |

Posted by: yjay sweetie maybe the cream contains hydroquinone or perhaps a brightening agent that is a bit harsh for your skin, i use olay quench as well, u can get olay quench in any healthplus or medplus pharmacy and its not fake ok yea. maybe. but am real skeptical abt hydroquinone so i checked and it wasnt listed except they disguising it now. hmmmn. maybe i shud just go back to Olay quench but i really wanna try the regenerist serum first if only i can get it even in shoprite, Lagos. Posted by: Gamine Insert Quote Bentonite Clay, Black Soap and Shea Butter have become my staple. My sister has Hyper-pigmentation, used the Black soap, it cleared she now went back to using all these other products It came back and she's been proper pissed. She just started using the black soap again, one of the best things ever! Posted on: Today at 03:12:01 PM bentonite wah? neva heard of dt. do u mean d local black soap or Dudu osun? yea. i use shea butter regularly. its been one staple regimen for me since 2yrs now. even for my hair and wen i shave. do u mean Dudu osun or just Plain local black soap? bentonite clay, i ve neva heard of and ve no idea where to get dt or if it wud work 4 me. tnx 4 d suggestions. wud reinforce my belief in d shea buter n look 4 d black soap (dudu osun eh?) |

can some1 pls help me? i read about hyperpigmentation here but didnt read abt d opposite. was using Olay quench then it got scarce and since i was scared to buy a fake, changed my cream to sometin my cosmetic store assistant recommended. its a milk. until recently, i started having light patches or spots on my upper arm, back and neck. i dunno wat to do. stopped using the lotion, went to get palmers olive oil and that gave me a breakout of small rash-like pimples on my face. now, i stopped using the palmers for my face but the light spots are my major concern. is there anytin anyone can recommend pls? tnx pple |

hey ladies, i tink neutrogena visible even may still be available or maybe the company didnt pull the product afterall. only tin is, its now with SPF30. is it the same one some1 was promoting on ds thread? found it on ebay though and its package is not blue but kinda brown and cream or white. exactly wats on page1 of ds thread .http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=neutrogena+visibly+even&_sacat=0&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_odkw=olay+regenerist+truthserum&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313# dunno hw to copy d image though is d only tin. this next link is for d olay regenerist micro-sculpting serum i found. is it d same? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B0039NMCPG/ref=dp_image_z_0?ie=UTF8&n=3760911&s=beauty |
