Wrong address! The responsibility to deport illegals rest solely with ICE, and ICE is under Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and NOT Dept of State. So next time, tell your attorney to get the address right. Only rout through Dept of State. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Juliusmalema:May God bless you with that your submission. I don't know why Nigerian youth have misplaced priorities: putting cat before the horses. Yes schools make mistakes in the process of admission and some candidate will be admitted via man know man method, but it doesn't equate the damage being done to the system by the centralised system where Abuja dictate everything including who to be admitted and how. That kind of over-centralization in a diverse country where school defers on merit and standard breed such indifference attitude to authority and also stunt growth and innovation. |

shadeyinka:Yes there are such cases and there will always be, but it doesn't invalidate his submission which I agree with in totality. No centralised system can work in an environment full of diversity. Yes the country education system is bastardised but we still have standard differential among the schools. So Abuja cannot be admitting students for all schools using unified yardstick, it won't work! Give schools autonomy, let them admit candidates they want and innovate. Jamb should simply concentrate on testing then hands off. Schools should determine their admission yardstick including cutoff mark and all. That's if we want to grow and develop our educational system anyway. 1 Like |

TV/Movies / Good Channels Disappearing: Isn't Gotv Now Better Than Dstv?! by babawella: 5:37pm On Nov 16, 2019 |
Hi everyone, I noticed DStv has reshuffled the channels under family bouquet. My favourite channels and the only reason I am still using DStv (Bloomberg TV & CNBC Africa) were removed some days ago, and all movies, sports, and News channels follow suit this morning, even when my subscription is not expiring until early next month. I called the company customer service this afternoon only to be told that I should upgrade to compact plus as (Bloomberg TV & CNBC Africa) have been moved up, but couldn't tell me the reason behind the remaining channels that are vanishing too. So house I just want to confirm whether am the only one experiencing this disruption or it's general. And if it is general, won't it be better to kuku scrap Access, Family and Compact, and restructure to just premium package (DStv) and economy package (Gotv). Thanks. 1 Like |

And won't it be better for Multichoice to kuku scrap Access, Family, and Compact bouquet, so we are left with premium package (DStv) and economy package (Gotv). Thanks. 2 Likes 1 Share |
Business / Re: Dangote Refinery Rules Out 2020, As Refinery Gets New Date by babawella: 10:04am On Nov 01, 2019 |
QuotaSystem:You are wrong sir. First, there is no global price for petroleum products. Market forces determine the price of products in different countries. That's why there is differential between the price petrol is sold in Germany & U.K., btw Nigeria & S.A. by the time you adjust for Forex. Don't get me wrong, there is global price for crude but not derivates. Second, I believe Deva was misquoted, because you can't be a Nigerian refiner, based in Nigeria but still sell products at import price (i.e. you would be charging your customers for export of crude & import of products; the task that you did not do), so I agree with the guy you referenced. According to him, landing cost of PMS is #133 which has cost of shipment factored-in, and sold at 145 so profit can accrued for importer. But Dangote isn't importing therefore can't have cost of production up to #133, except global price of crude shoot up to over $100/barrel or he wants to be too greedy. I said too greedy because petrol does not obey demand/supply law, so if he decides to sell at 200 naira/liter people would still but cus they won't have choice as he has the strength (size & volume of his refinery/products) to chase away importer/competitors. However, I agree with you that the price of his products won't be cheap (though would not be as high as those of importers), because we are not giving him crude for free, and he is buying in dollars (though in Naira equivalent) at global price. So all those would go into his own pricing too. Another point of yours that am agreeing with is the reparation of dollars made by selling it's products internationally. That would be so good for the country Forex reserve, as we would cut off demand for dollar for petroleum products importation. That together with the self sufficiency in rice production and some other products means dollars will come down a bit and Nigerian will be relieved. TV/Movies / Choosing Your Own Dstv Channels – S.A. Effort by babawella: 8:54pm On Apr 17, 2019 |
☰ Choosing your own DStv channels – Here is where we stand Jan Vermeulen 9 hours ago MultiChoice said it will not be forced to let subscribers choose their own channels, according to ICASA’s draft findings document on its inquiry into the subscription TV market in South Africa. “This is the process that started in 2016 when ICASA published a notice of its intention to conduct an inquiry into the state of competition in the subscription broadcasting services sector,” the regulator said. The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) published its draft findings on Friday, 12 April. “The draft findings are published for further comments, subsequent to which ICASA will publish the final findings.” Depending on the outcome of the final version of its finding document, ICASA said it may consider developing regulations, possibly in the form of additional licence conditions on broadcasters. “A separate public consultation process would be followed in that case.” À la carte model As part of its inquiry into South Africa’s pay TV market, ICASA considered requests from consumers to force broadcasters like MultiChoice to offer an à la carte model for channels. “The Authority’s consumer survey revealed that consumers are looking for value for money services. There is general dissatisfaction with the service being offered,” ICASA said. MultiChoice has confirmed this, stating that its Premium subscribers are under financial pressure and dissatisfied with having to contend with re-runs. With subscription TV prices increasing without there being a corresponding increase in the value subscribers get for their money, consumers are calling for the ability to only pay for the channels they want to watch. “While it may be an appealing proposition, the Authority notes that it would take technical configuration and re-engineering of business models by current subscription broadcasters,” ICASA said. Citing India and Canada’s à la carte models, ICASA noted that only a few countries in the world have implemented such models, with inconclusive results in terms of benefits to consumers. “The Authority will embark on a separate process should it become necessary to introduce an à la carte option for the South African market.” ICASA said that for now, the remedies it is proposing to increase competition in the subscription broadcasting space should lead to increased access and lower prices. ICASA’s proposals As a result of MultiChoice’s dominance in South Africa’s pay TV market, ICASA said it is proposing various license conditions to address the market failure. ICASA said that most stakeholders support the following remedies: Reducing contract duration —Maximum of 5 years, without automatic renewal. Rights splitting — Rights-owners must split their rights and sell them to more than one broadcaster. Unbundling — Sports rights must be sold on open tender, allowing for more than one buyer, with no “excessive exclusivity” and no automatic contract renewals. Wholesale must-offer — MultiChoice must offer its sports rights to other broadcasters on a wholesale basis. Limiting access to the number of Hollywood movie studios — ICASA wants to limit the number of studios a broadcaster may enter into exclusive agreements with. In addition, ICASA said that it has identified set-top box interoperability as a potential license condition to impose on MultiChoice. This would allow decoders to work with various pay TV operators, rather than requiring a separate decoder for each. Oshin56:Bro in as much as I understand your fear, your mentality is the kind that makes Africa still remain where it is today. You allow fear to restrict you from moving forward. So because airplane has a tendency to crash you would not travel by air again, or cuz automobile vehicle accident you won't move by car again. Yes state police has a tendency to be misused by the governor shouldn't stop us from practicing it, afterall, president can also misuse federal police. What we should do is to put mechanism in place to prevent the hijack and misuse of the department by the governors, then adopt it because it is more effective to nib crime in the bud before it actually happened. If Northeast had state police in place, they would had had better chance at identifying potential book haram members, persuade some and luck up the hardened ones before they grow wing to become monsters they are today. This is because is allows people that knows one another to report potential crime or criminal to another fellow that grew up with them and knows the terrains who is the commissioner of police than bringing someone from another tribe who doesn't know the terrain or the culture of the people he want to superintend in their policing. In answering your question about which state can effectively adopt and practice state police, I say to you that ALL STATES IN NIGERIA CAN DO IT. Like I said earlier, all they need to do is putting necessary mechanism in place to reduced to greater extent, the intervention, influence or contribution of the state executive in choosing the police commissioner or running the system. MY POLICY/STRATEGY ON HOW TO ACHIEVE THIS: There should be police service commission (PSC) to be created by the law of each state with the function of appointing and firing police commissioners. The selected and appointed commissioner name should be forwarded to the state House of assembly for ratification and the name sent to the governor as a mere formality. The sending of the name to governor should trigger the effectiveness of the appointment. The budget of the police should be ratify by the PSC and assembly and be the first thing to be deducted from the source of state coffers before the governor do any other things. The PSC members should be constituted by combination of retired cheif judges of the state, retired police commissioner, professors of sociology or criminology, and representatives of BAR and Civil society, all who would be elected by members of their professional constituencies for 4 years that is renewable at the end of every 4 years, and the election of each members should be staggered. *Note that the JOB will be free, so it's only those that are willing to serve their state and have the integrity that would be there. If we want to take it a step further, the state House of assembly members that would be ratifying the appointment too should be have their salaries being paid by their constituencies and not the governor to prevent them from being influenced. Each constituency should pay what it can afford (which means there won't be uniform take home for all the honourables, and this is an incentive to make them listen to their constituencies that send them there and prevent gang-up), and the vote on ratification of police commissioner should be done openly so the constituencies would know which of the honourables vote in favour and against the ratification so they can ask them the reaso behind their action. If the house fail to ratify without an acceptable reason to the people, the nominated police commissioner should stay in active capacity pending when the case would be taken before a court, and once he/she is clear of any wrongdoing or baggages, he (commissioner) should continue and the judgement should be seeing as the ratification. With this strategy, the believe state police is possible, and can be done effectively with minimal and insignificant interface from the governor. 2 Likes |

Jokerman:Overall Yes he did! If not he wouldn't have won world best ahead of Messi and C. Ronaldo. And CR7 performed better than Messi that season that's why he was ahead of Messi. No sentiment about it. A player natural potential is different from actual performance in a given season. That's why people who knows the game would tell you Ronaldinho is the most naturally gifted of this generation but Messi and CR7 play more purposeful football than him hence their greater achievement. Messi is more gifted but CR7 is the most hardworking football player I even known. In that line of comparison, CR7 and Messi are of better quality naturally, but for last season, Modric topped the 2 in performance EOD! |

ernieboy:Bro! Your POV is the problem of Africans. All you see is today, not minding the strength of the mechanism you giving you that today's winning. Yes they won back to back, but careful observation and analysis of the team would tell you the team strength drop season-in season-out. That's the fact, it's now left for you to accept it or not. If the team is as strong as you portray it then why is it down now? Or are you telling me that the exit of CR7 alone is what crash the whole Madrid team, as if he is the only one that plays all the positions. Don't tell me you are part of the people that project that narrative because if you are then that means you can believe anything. A team or company winning today doesn't mean all is good. That's why Facebook, Alphabet, Amazon, Apple Inc are buying up new innovative company to cover their weakness and strengthened themselves for tomorrow, and Mcity, Barcelona and even R.Madrid buy players to shore-up the team against weakness despite them winning ATM. |
Sports / Re: Samuel Eto’o: ‘I Made Barcelona A Winning Team & Not Lionel Messi’- by babawella: 4:43pm On Apr 10, 2019 |
ernieboy:Your point of argument is faulty! Everybody knows the whole Madrid as a squad has been on a declining for like 2 seasons now. Yes they managed to win champions League last season but the signs of weakness were there. That's why Zidane left, and PART of the reasons CR7 too left. If Modric was not at that midfield, there is high probability that Madrid won't win cuz CR7 won't see quality supplies of ball to score. So, CR7 contribution was significant, but Modric contribution that last season was much more significant than his. Except you want to tell me that all the professionals that voted him were fools or they did that solely on world cup performance where he equally had less goals than CR7. CR7 is naturally a better player but for that season, Modric top him in contribution to Madrid. But I must say that he has also dropped this season. |
Sports / Re: Samuel Eto’o: ‘I Made Barcelona A Winning Team & Not Lionel Messi’- by babawella: 4:19pm On Apr 10, 2019 |
Jokerman:Modric contribution to the team was more than his (CR7) last season, hence his being crowned as world best. Yes Ronaldo had more goals than him in country and club yet his (Modric) contribution was more. Yes goals determine the winner of games, but the goal scorer is not always the biggest contributor to the team. That's why Ronaldinho was the world best ahead Eto'o and Henry in their time, Canavaro, a defender won world best, Figo, Zidane etc won world best despite not being the highest goal scorers. 1 Like |

oluwatobi75:Oga, your claim was wrong. There was never a time Eto'o was a king in Barcelona. A king of a team is that player that's the most feared by opponent, most influential to the team, and he whose absence affected the team most and make opponent happy. The king of Barcelona and indeed the king of world football during Eto'o reign was Ronaldinho. After Dinho reign starts Messis'. Though Eto'o score significant number of goals but that doesn't make him the king. its like saying CR7 was the king of Real Madrid last season because he scored more goals than Modric, or saying Neyma/Suarez were the king when in Barcelona because they were also influential and scoring goals. So Eto'o lied cus he wasn't the king: Messi was and still is. |

ollah2:What I meant by private is that it isn't own by government. Apple is a private-public liability company. I used that adjective because there is another company that has tasted the Trillion Dollar pride in the past. The first company to cross $1Trillion mark was a Chinese company (PetroChina) to be precise, before its market cap fell back under $1T. The difference between PetroChina and Apple & Amazon is that the former is government owned company while the last two are Privately owned-Public quoted companies. |

tigerclaws:Mark Zuckerberg does not have 60% of Facebook as you assumed. The guy has only under 25% share of Facebook. The 60% you were referring to is voting right at board level as a result of class of his share, but not the percentage of his share in the company. 60% of share would mean Mark is worth over $200billion as the market cap of Facebook is $447billion, and not $58billion (Source: Forbes Real-Time Networth) that he is worth as at this morning. So please let us be careful and be sure we are put out genuine info and data anytime we discuss issue online. Cheers! 1 Like |

Business / Re: Forte Oil To Sell Nigerian Assets, Exit Ghana by babawella: 3:22pm On May 03, 2018 |
BedLam: Guy pls for your future sake, always listen to those that have better understanding of issue and refrain from talking on subject you know nothing about so that you can gain. You lack knowledge of big business management and the oil industry, yet, you keep disagreeing with people that are out to enlighten you. First, there is what is called midstream in oil business, and refining and other oil business processes constitute what you have in that segment of the business, and that is what dangote is into. Second, Downstream majorly petroleum products marketing is the core business of Forte oil, while E&P and power generation are non-core business, just like E&P is Conoil producing (Adenugas' company) core oil business and Conoil Plc (Adenugas' petroleum products marketing company) is allied or non-core oil business. Selling off Ghana unit is as a result of it not yielding profit which the article attributed to the Cedis devaluation and other business environmental factors in that country. You can't also rule out the fact that Ghana is a foreign environment to Forte to their performance in that country. In conclusion, the strategy is to leverage their industry knowledge in Nigeria downstream sector, divest their stake in non-core business (upstream) and non yielding Ghana business, grow and expand their marketing business in Nigeria in anticipation for the dangote refinery. By so doing they will be the biggest by leveraging Otedolas' relationship with Aliko to have constant supply and be the biggest marketer of dangote petroleum products (mutual benefit/symbiotic relationship), because dangote would be the biggest producer while Otedola would be the biggest marketer. I hope you can understand the logic in the Fortes' repositioning/strategy better now. So it's purely business strategy and nothing to do with being lacking in innovation. Fortes' share price that fell then was as a result of fall of crude oil price and it affected ALL, I REPEAT ALL OIL COMPANIES THE WORLD OVER, INCLUDING EXXONMOBIL, SHELL, CHEVRON, BP, CONOCO PHILLIPS, SOUDI ARAMCO, PETROCHINA, PETROBRAS to mention but just a few. A PIECE OF YORUBA HISTORY. WILL IT REPEAT ITSELF IN LAGOS? I’m yet to see a man that will keep quiet when his territory is been invaded with impunity. AFONJA was a Yoruba man, and a General in the Oyo Army. He was made the Commanding Officer of Ilorin Outpost. He was an over ambitious man who wanted to be King at all cost and he knew there was no way he could defeat Alaafin of Oyo Army, and so he colluded with and gathered Fulani settlers under Mallam Alimi together to help him fight Alaafin of Oyo. Yes the Fulanis helped him to defeat the Alafin’s Army but he was killed by the same Fulanis and never made king, thus the Yorubas never recovered their llorin from the Fulanis as they lost the prominent Yoruba town to Fulani Emirate, probably forever, through this senseless and treacherous act of a man who sold his birthright for a plate of porridge. TODAY, LAGOS IS THE NEW ILORIN . JIMI AGBAJE IS THE NEW AFONJA, WHILE THE IGBOS ARE THE NEW FULANI. Now that Jimi Agbaje promises to make eze ndigbo equal in status with oba of Lagos, in exchange for their support for him to become governor, just as it happened to Afonja, what makes him think he can not be eliminated by conspiracy during his tenure for the lbo man to become the governor in Lagos? |

i dont always comment on issues on nl but the level of discussion a times to drop some few lines. seeing people comment on the statement made by fashola and claimingg generating both quantitative and qualitative power for Lagos is not possible really shows the level of thinking or should i say information at the disposal of our people. cus if we understand the law regulating power in Nigeria most people here will say smtin different. the truth is dat power gencos nd discos are sold bt government is holdin on to d third critical component of the value chain which is transmission. in oda words if u like generate 100,000mw of power nd av capacity to distribute, without gud transmission u ar goin nowhere. nd if u generate as a state or coy beyond 10mw u av to send d excess to d national grid dat d transmission is nt ok thereby resultin to loss of power nd money to d generatin party instead of allowing d party dat generate to sell to people in her locality dat want ti buy d excess nd get money to generate more so dat d process ll continue till power gets better nd better. so dis is wat fashola is sayin, amend d law to allow people to generate nd sell so dat state nd company dat has capacity can do dat, get more power into d system .d recoup there money in d process. ask dangote y he is nt buildin more power plant in all his factories nd he ll tell u better on his experience in obajana. so my dear nairalanda, fashola is not sayin he WILL bt he CAN if d law allow Lagos to generate more nd sell directly to Lagosia.s without first snd to d grid which will transmit it ti where its less needed e.g. bukuru, umudi and ikole ekiti. ask me nd i belie he can with help of diff willin coys in lagos if d law allow nd stop protectin the present discos and gencos by wantin dem to first mk more dan enough at d expense of nigerians dat urgently nid power. |
