Hi
I'm wondering if you have had any feedback or update?
I am in the same position as you, since 2007. Suddenly get an eamil today about a general metting in two days and an attached excel file saying something about develomental fee, this is after i was asked to pay surveyors fee on top of the price of the land.

I would say that you would probably not be worse off if you decide to move to Nigeria.
Position yourself to be head hunted. there are a lot of companies that recruit from abroad back to Nigeria. so you don't have to leave the US before getting a job. so you know exactly what package you would receive before relocating. plus you get additional relocation allowance which usually is about an extra million or there about. this you would get upfront.

you would even be able to bargain and negotiate. With 8yrs experience, you shouldn't be out of a job for a day in Nigeria. Trust me. If you are interested i can give you a few web site to check out.

I had only a few months experience in the UK, on getting to Nigeria, within two weeks, I had two job offers and i picked the one with some multinational where i was being paid well. and i didn't even have a foreign degree. against popular beliefs, i also didn't know anybody in the company.

I am presently back in the Uk because I am pursuing a postgraduate degree.

I know a lot of friends who also have good tales to tell. none of my relocated friends are worse off in Nigeria. Besides you most of what you earn is yours to keep for real. Unlike in the developed countries where you find that as the money comes in, it goes out on mortgages, bills and what not. Living expense is relatively lower(even after deducting cost of getting a driver, cleaner, house keeper, baby sitter, school fees and what not).

Nigeria has been classified as an emerging market by the world bank, there are enormous opportunities in the capital market. you can literally make a 100% return pa by investing your savings in the capital market.

Now tell me, how much better can this get.
