Politics / Re: Police Discover Illegal Oil Well In Lagos by babyjowo: 2:17pm On Jul 23, 2010
Okay, so this Okonkwo man is into this illegal business of diverting fuel into his well because he is an igbo man? So if I am not igbo, I am therefore incapable of theft and dishonesty? So only citizens who are igbo would commit criminal acts in the hopes of making a fortune?

Please educate me and open my eyes for I am ignorant of these 'facts'.

It is pretty frustrating that the main concern of some Nigerians is our 'image'. What 'image' do we have at this point in time anyway? Is it with all the depressing things going on in the country?  Heck who cares about any damn image when the country is in shambles and the good leaders are so outnumbered and impeded that they might as well just go home.

Its just like an anorexic girl who is dieing slowly inside yet starves herself some more to make sure that she looks skinny before she eventually dies. I think they should keep refusing to show nice pictures. If they were to take pictures at random to broadcast the odds are against the nice pictures anyway.

Any network can broadcast as many 'bad' pictures as they can possibly lay their hands on as long as they link the nasty pictures to the horrible leadership in Nigeria. I don't mind one bit. It would be nice if they could help the country in some way no matter how little even though they are not obliged. Something has to activate the consciences of those in the high places.

@BAC

I see that for lack of adequate facts to support your argument (an argument that doesn't seem to be heading in any direction) you have decided to act like an uneducated person and throw unnecessary insults left right and center.

Let me come down to your level for a bit and speak your language,

First you claim to have a brain and you are asking me if I studied "juju" at the university because my name looks like baba alawo. That is pretty retarded but it still remains irrelevant to the topic.

Also, quit contradicting yourself. If Nigerians are actually capable of anything, a billion trained dogs at the point of entry would make no difference.

Right now, I am typing comfortably from within the UK so you should call the queen on her direct contact number and have her send troops to deport me since I am a baba alawo or whatever the heck your new "retarded and irrelevant to the topic" claim is.

And if your optic nerve is not severed, you will  see from my previous post that I have nothing (especially negative things) to say about the queen because the topic of this thread has nothing to do with that but you have gone so far away from the point that you probably cannot even remember what the point is anymore.

Anyway, let me guide you back to the point of this thread and leave you with one thing that I PERSONALLY believe sucks about the UK when compared to the US. Many of the houses do not have a cooling system in place so right now its warm and humid and gross indoors and out.

You can see that I put the word "personally" in big letters to help you see it better because I expect you to start throwing profanities all around without looking properly. If you like lose sleep over the opinion of someone you do not know and display some more illiterate characteristics while being totally off point/topic.

My conclusion still remains that no one place is better than the other. The UK sucks in some ways and the US sucks in other ways. If you like burst your jugular while arguing, nothing is going to change about that.

It seems like you do not bother to read posts thoroughly before responding. Please tell me, "the queens PA" how I can be illegal and be bouncing in and out of the US while studying.

And if I am illegal, how does that change anything. So my experience in the United States is altered by my immigration status now or what? Or how does that affect the fact that there the UK is not "better" than the US and the US is not "better" than the UK.

And if I am American, no, the UK is not my owner. Yes, Americans were colonized by the British but it will do you good to come and join the rest of the world in the 21st century because that was centuries ago.

Right now, the UK has no ownership of the US or whatever it is you are screaming about because at this point I am convinced that you are posting under the wrong topic.

Schooled in US for 5 years and currently in the UK for the gazillionth time visiting loverboy and family members before going back to school.

IMO many posters have gone off on a tangent and are probably now posting under the wrong topic. Both countries cannot be compared because they are just too different. I schooled in TX and I am moving to NY and I am actually experiencing culture shock. Tiny everything and damn expensive unlike TX. Also I am doing a lot more walking (in NY) and hopping on trains and buses, stuff I used to tease my BF about while on vacation in the UK before I knew better.

I change my mind EVERYDAY on which I prefer. It just really depends on what lifestyle you prefer and what your dreams are. I personally am a fatty at heart and I love the big cars and roads in Texas and how I used to drive everywhere, but I also love the perfect sunny weather right now in the UK unlike the hellfire they call summer in TX.

Summary: There is no particular place to be and none is actually better than the other in every aspect which renders any further argument pointless (especially the ones full of inaccuracies and unfounded facts).

Chao!

So it re-scheduled me and gave me SEPTEMBER 10!!! Wow. From June to September.

@rume

Did you have to wait for your interview date to pass before being able to re-schedule?
Travel / Re: Nigeria Embassy London Worst Management by babyjowo: 4:53pm On May 31, 2010
Lord have mercy!

I shoulda just gone back to Nigeria to have my passport renewed.

I finished my application for e-passport last night and I was randomly given an appointment for June 10 at the NHC in London.

Unfortunately, I am going to be in the US till the 16th and I decided to just have it done in London since I was already traveling there for summer holiday. I have been trying to re-schedule the damn thing but I keep getting the message "your interview has now been rescheduled. your date is on June 10, 2010". Seriously?? Is that not the same damn day that was assigned to me randomly that I am trying to have re-scheduled.

Up until 2 minutes ago, the man that I have been talking to over the phone had been so helpful. He gave me the impression that after 24 hours I should be able to pick a different date (assigned a different day). However, I called and spoke to this rude, impatient and clueless slowpoke that had not the slightest clue how to help me. Instead of just letting me know he had no idea how to help me, he starts to yell that I should go to the one in NY since I am in America because they have too many people (over 100 a day according to him)

How does someone apply in February and eventually get a day in AUGUST for God's sake
My own luck is unfortunate because I applied May 31 and got June 10 which is good but I unfortunately cannot make.

And here I am trying to get helpful information on the so-called re-scheduling and having this man yell about how I think I am so big because I tell him I cannot buy a $600 ticket to fly to NY WITHOUT an appointment and with a chance that they will take forever to process my application and possibly delay my flight.

This guy eventually hung up the phone after shouting that"if that is how you do it in the US that is not how we do it in the UK" and I am like Never would have imagined all the palaver. I think the next thing is to pay BA to move my flight a week earlier.

I am not about to get a date in August because I need to begin to apply for my student visa.

Lord have mercy!!!
