This is why you are all Nigerians; with the Nigerian mentality, reasoning and noisemaking potential that will create more problems rather than solve the little riddles and answer simple questions. Makes interesting read up anyway cool

Thank you poster for your concise assessment of the situation as it is. You can accuse any foreign high commission in Nigeria of doing 1000% profitable business and you will be right anyday afterall thats why they are in the most populous black nation in Africa.

I am not saying they must come back home to seek employment; I am sure I mentioned "personal development" which means they can come back and create jobs and help focus and mentor the young ones in the right direction.

Travel / Re: Survival by badabeat: 10:34pm On Oct 16, 2008
I am always amused by the posts of our sojourners;hard truth, realistic advice, call for change but avoidance of the real solution. Truth be told, a lot of people from Nigeria are not supposed to be immigrants (legal or illegal) and my take on travel is that its the rarest and most direct form of education. Education however has disillusioned Nigerians rather than free their minds. I manage an educational travel consulting firm and I always tell my students and those that care to listen that when you travel, let the focus be personal development and not just immigration cuz of the status quo. Educational and exchange visitors can learn a lot that will empower them to make a change that will affect their life, community and the country sooner or later.Imagine what we will have if all the great brains posting here and walking the immigration landline in the UK are back home and applying what they have learned and gained to make the desired change. However, our innate ability and questionable values of followership had put idiots as our rulers and confused technocrats as aspiring leaders.
Bottom line; lets think about the blood that flows in our veins, the heritage within where we were borne and let a giveback be done to guide the present crops of youth aright. Travel is education not desperation!

I get more confused by Nigerians when I see posts like this. Bros, have you heard of the Patriot Act?
Nigerians cannot at this time open a genuine US bank account unless they are resident there and have a SSN. Shikena!
Education / Re: Preparing For Gmat And Graduate School in The US by badabeat: 8:28pm On Oct 11, 2008
Its interesting to the read all the very helpful post blackpro gave to Nigerians here and its saddening to note that most Nigerians are short of realizing the great benefit of these posts. To most of us, mediocrity and finding the easy way out has robbed us of the intuition to see and do the right thing.
I am sure if he has titled his post as "study free in the US", the mailbox would been busted by the freebie loving Nigerians.
No wonder, the visa consular can spot the setup guy that cannot even answer the basic intellectual question and want to study in US.
Education / Travel Is Education; And Its Not Cheap. by badabeat: 7:16pm On Oct 11, 2008
It has been very revealing to read about Nigerians desiring travel opportunities and spending so much the wrong way and not having anything to show for it.

I could not help but laugh at the underlying motivations as shown and the direction of some of the posts on here but the truth is if you want education; I mean real education, the only thing than can give you the best of it is travel.

Derek Bok; an Harvard professor once said and I quote, "if you think education is expensive, try ignorance". And many of us trudging through the hallowed halls of didactic experience end up more ignorant than those on the road. All we speak is big english grin

Anyway, from my experience, educational travel is not cheap nor expensive; you only pay for what you get.
