Travel / The Challenges He's Going Through Working At A Call Center In Canada by bamangar: 8:10am On May 14, 2020
A Nigerian man on Twitter @ozorcchristian narrates what his friend who works in a call centre in Canada is going through and how Karma is catching up with him.

According to him

Call Centre Agents are really trying. A friend who relocated to Canada & works in a call centre was narrating his work challenges to me. He said some callers are so rude to him! Several were outrightly racist when they notice he doesn't speak with American or Canadian accent.
Sometimes he won't want to go to work for fear of being yelled at over his African accent & being called "dummy" multiple times.
I laughed as he narrated, though felt for him. But i reminded him of how he used to threaten & abuse MTN and Airtel call Agents when he was in Nigeria.

He once threatened a female Airtel call centre agent that he will send Ogun to strike her and the entire staff of Airtel Nigeria if they don't return the N73 they deducted from her account.

Being a call center Agent anywhere in the world is not easy. You get to be yelled at and insulted by customers. I salute the courage of all agents who encounter diverse kinds of people daily on the cause of their duty.

A Canadian man was telling me that immigration rule will change due to the recent coronavirus.

Many are hoping to immigrate and get better jobs in Canada this year. Not being negative but some news I'm getting is signalling that there might be increase in unemployment rate, immigration rules would change. Those that have landed in Canada, what do you think

I and a friend was discussing about moving to smaller towns with 3000 population. But some friends are discouraging it. I read in a journal that there are jobs in those smaller towns and cities, great urban life, cheaper accommodation for immigrants. But some of us love the bigger cities where we watch skyscrappers beautify our eyes. I'm still in Nigeria, but considering moving to smaller towns with population less than 10k when i get to canada. I hope i'm not making any mistake

Are you referring to Indeed? Using Indeed as a reference (it should work with any job platform though) you can try the following:

Try to visit the websites of the companies and see if you can find direct links out apply to the job outside the platform.

If you can't find the openings on the website of the either companies, modify you resume to suit one of the openings then apply, afterwards update the resume (to suit the second opening) on the platform before applying to the second opening.

Afterwards you can update the resume on the platform to the usual (or general) one.

Though risky but will try it out.

What platform would that be? Most recruiters, in my experience, encourage you to prepare tailored resumes for different roles even in the same organization. If you have to, I'd say tailor the resume for the role you do really want/feel you have a better chance at and cross your fingers.

Thank you, will try this out.

Hello, I need help. I'm applying for two job positions in two different companies with different roles. I am meant to only submit one Resume on that platform permanently which they will be using for any of my job application. I have experience in both roles too.
My problem now, will it be proper to merge my work experience together or should I split it - (1) job role 1 (2) job role 2.

I don't want my Resume to look tattered. I want both employers to be able to understand.
The end goal is to get at least one of the jobs.
How do you suggest I handle my resume to fit in my experience in both job roles?

WES is ECA. That's from your experience in Brandon. But when it comes to IRCC time, it's required.

And how was the interview? Were you there physically or via Skype? Wishing you well

I just wonder how Many keep falling for fake visa scam. I work in a Travel and tourism company, everyday we receive visitors who said they have been duped several times on visa cases. The worse part of it is if i tell them the truth, they don't always believe me. They would rather go to fake agents. Turkish Embassy and Airline is not that far from my office. Getting their visa is not that difficult if you meet their criteria. I use to tell people, If you want to travel abroad, make up your mind, chose a country, research on that country, go to their embassy to get more details. It's not that difficult.

Dear OP, Go and arrest that your family friend, they just duped you.

Let me not lie, Lagos Airport is the headquarters of begging in Africa. It has turned to harassment.

Another thing I noticed, when you visit almost every organisation, when their security starts acting funny, know they just want some egunje. Its becoming embarrassing.

What Made A White Man Married To Nigerian Lady Vow Never To Visit Nigeria Again

A twitter user @ozorcchristian narrated an incident of a (couple) Nigerian woman married to a white man who visited Nigeria on holiday, the encounter that caused the man to vow never to visit Nigeria again.

A Nigerian woman and her white husband visited for a brief holiday. That would be the first time the oyibo husband would be visiting Nigeria. Almost every tourist center they went, people walk up to them to beg for money. Every police check point was an avenue for officers to beg them for transport money. The couple saw it as harassment and, surely it is. Oyibo husband told wifey that no tourist will like to visit Nigeria with this “begging attitude” everywhere.

Man also told wifey he would never want to return to Nigeria again. Right from MMIA, some corrupt Immigration officials would have started extorting tourists. Even inside the banks, restaurants and organizations, security men would be begging for money. People on the streets will still beg you for money. Tourists won’t have freedom to express themselves or visit places most especially when they are whites.

I know things are hard, you're not the only one experiencing it. It doesn't warrant harassing people for money. We need an attitude change in this country

. Relax, I'm sure they have sent it, it falls on the evaluation body to update it on your profile. In my case I applied in September 5 2019, like 2 October I was worried, I called the man which his phone number was there, he said the school had already sent it. I messaged CES and they updated my status that they got my transcript on September 16 sef. So I feel it depends on the evaluation body. Me, I don't stay in Ogun, I never traveled to Ogun to do it. Just message your evaluation body.

Good afternoon Nairalanders on the Canada migration train. I am @Omoosobu and I am desirous of migrating to Canada with my family. I have a wife and a daughter of 1yr + 5months. I don't have a lot of money and so i cannot afford any agent which means i have to carry out the processes on my own. I have applied for my transcript and to WES for evaluation of same.

I am here to seek direction on how to go about the processes of migration as i have no experience at all in this regard. I have a blood tie in Canada as i am made to understand that having a blood relative gives a sort of advantage or point in the process.

I will appreciate any one out here who have knowledge of the processes to kindly assist me to itemize the steps and requirements needed to actualize/succeed in this adventure. What is the less cumbersome route/process? How do i go about it? what are the things i needed to get ready. How long can it take me to achieve success on the basis of each process available to someone like me migrating with a wife and daughter.

Thank you and God bless you as you help provide answers to these questions.

@Omoosobu.

I'm sorry to say this but, if you cannot read from page one of this thread, then you are not ready to migrate. Go back to page one, start reading from there, your answers are there

Thanks I appreciate, one more thing please, I came into FUNAAB Alabama through their foundation science program (FSP) so I started from 200l, do I need to get transcript for my 200L too, and do WES for that? Or my transcript is already going to reflect the FSP.
I believe your transcript is going to reflect FSP. Funaab is organised. Their transcript page, their is a phone number written their, person in charge, he will be in a better position to clarify your thoughts
Romance / He's Having A Problem With His Wife To Be And Her Rich Parents by bamangar: 7:44am On Jan 28, 2020
Story shared on Twitter by @the_onismate

I was talking with a friend few days back and he said anytime I'm ready to get married, I shouldn't marry any woman from a very rich family with so much attachment to her family. I asked why, he began narrating his wedding journey ordeal.
He's about to wed his woman. He only has N4m but intends spending N150 (court wedding and then feeding the 50 guests they are inviting. Then use N2m for honeymoon in Dubai. But bride no gree. She wants a big wedding.

Upcoming wife said either a big wedding or nothing. And her estimate for the big wedding is N5m.
Upcoming wife said if my guy can't bring out money for the big wedding, she would meet her dad for support. Well, she came from a rich family, her dad will be willing to roll out the cash. But my guy has refused. It would be a crash and dent on his image for upcomingwife to request money from her dad for their wedding.
Few closed family & friends had asked him to yield to up-coming wife's demands for her dad to sponsor the wedding. But my guy said from inception of the relationship, any slightest challenges, she always runs to her dad for solutions and he doesn't like it. He wants to start limiting her going to her parents to seek for solutions to every problems they have.

The girls parents are willing to foot wedding bills just to give their daughter her dream wedding. My guy has refused. Wedding preparations is on hold. My guy no gree, upcoming wife and her rich family no gree.

A day's journey shouldn't be spent in an eventful airline. I have used Ethiopian before and loved it, like any intl airline but last March dey make me fear.

As someone who works in a travel and air ticketing organization, please go for Ethiopian Airline

Canadachick:

Thanks.

So I started the journey in 2016 with the hope of migrating through the Express Entry. I evaluated my credentials with IQAS and sat for IELTS in 2016. I could not make the cut-off. I was 33 years with just a kid then. The AIPP program just was introduced then. I became interested in using that route, however, the hurdle of getting an employer was very high to climb. Fast word to 2019, still in the process but my IELTS has expired, I started applying widely to employers who were designated in the 4 provinces in the Atlantic. It was tedious but at last, an employer from NB came to the rescue.

After 2 rounds of online interviews after assessing my CV, they decided to sponsor my application. Since they were designated, it was quite easy for them. I got the offer in September 2019 and had to rewrite the IELTS in October since the previous one was expired. Submitted to them when the result came out ( I had a band of 7.5). My ECA was still valid. So presently waiting for endorsement. Sector- Marketing
congrats.. See you in Canada.

I don't know if this is the right section for this. I have some bulk sms online platform I use In sending out bulk sms messages. The problem here is that when I send message from Platform A, my Glo line wont receive, telling me the line is on DND. But when I send from platform B, my Glo will receive the exact message. This problem is not only me, other people I send the message to have same issues. Is it that the platforms are the problem I have tried to remove my glo and other people's numbers from DND, but it's not responding. Does anyone has a concrete solution?

Hello Nairalanders,

Happy New Year!

Been a long while I posted on this platform.

Canada has been good and I am grateful.

I decided to send a message to encourage as many as possible.

Canada Immigration has changed a lot since I moved (Just May 5th, 2019 o).

The post might be long but I am sure there are some things you can pick from it.

This is the reality

The government of Canada has given the current Minister of Immigration (Marco Mendicino) the following mandate
1.Immigration between 2020-2022 will focus more on the Provincial and Municipal Nomination Programs.
This is because many rural areas like Sudbury, Brandon and co are desperate to get immigrants to their municipalities.
While they know it will be hard to keep immigrants their, they believe some will eventually make it their home.

2. Eliminate CItizenship alpplication fee (Probabbly doesn't concern you for now)

My point which I believe are the facts

1. Do not put all your hopes on Express Entry especially if your scores are less that 465 cos I think the scores will
remain high (I pray I am wrong). So please put your eggs in different baskets. Schemes like Provincial Nominations
and Municipal Nomination Program and Pilot programmes. I believe early birds will stand a chance.

2. Immigration via school is also a good route but I advice you use firms like Maple Consults (NB: Please I no affiliation
with them nor do I collect any commission from them). This is because they can deny you visa. Just ask them;
-Which school is the cheapest school I can apply to in Canada that guarantees work permit. Nothing more!

For those that do not know anything about Atlantic Pilot or Municipal Nominations, you can watch the videos below
act ASAP.

I wish you all the best in 2020.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuBKV8pszmtFZfkavsmpqEA --ZTCanada

This guy breaks down every municipal nomination program with step-by-step demos on how to apply.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7_zz6L9_Wbp9n-7M4NwhtQ --LPGroup

This is a consulting firm I follow when I want to keep up with all that has to do with immigration and how its changing.
For those who don't have time to read, you can consult them for free.

NB: I do not endorse any organization or individual so contacting consultants is at your own risk.
I was not paid in anyway to advertise or promote individuals or firms

Please go through the link below. If you do not have much time or Data af finish, check video number 3 by IgorRyltsev. 6 minutes video and straight to the point. Below that Igor Video is a list of in demand occupations so you can start applying.

I suggest you go through other videos as I am sure you will find something useful. You can even subscribe and click the notification if you are a gmail user so that you can stay up to date on the latest in the Canada immigration world.

All da best on this journey. Please Take Action!!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQml9TpjENc (bonus video)

Extras
My 2cent
1. Tell your loved ones not to give up cos it's gonna be a bit rocky as they are not as privy to certain information
2. Tell them not put all eggs in a basket. Let them apply to everything. MNP, PNP and co.
3. When they calculate their scores for PNP, CRS should be 400+ to be considered while for MNP, it should be about 67-70 depending on the Municipal
4. Schooling is also an option especially if they can stay with some of us so they save on accommodation
5. They should start applying ASAP. It's always easier in the beginning before it gets more difficult.
6. There is hope as Canada intends to add another 1Million immigrants within that period

You are absolutely right municipal and pilot schemes like Atlantic and immigration pilot program (AIPP), Rural and Northern immigration program ( RNIP) etc. The POF for AIPP is N1m, RNIP is N2.3m. One of the major problems of these 2 schemes is getting a job, that's the major challenge. A job offer is what you will use to get nominated by the province or municipal.... 2020 will be a great year for us
