Politics / Letter Bomb To All CJN Apologists! by baridamben(m): 10:51am On Jan 16, 2019
Letter Bomb To All CJN Apologists!
.
Did he do it, did he not do it? That is what any patriotic Nigerian who has sense should be asking, because the consequences of an innocent man being punished for what he did not do, or being acquitted or prevented from facing justice for a crime he actually committed while sitting in judgement over the rest of us is grievous. The consequences of having a corrupt man as the CJN might just be the reason why this country has not been progressing. So did he do it, did he not do it? That is the first question we should be asking.
.
All the talk of a political witch-hunt are irrelevant and at best secondary. I don't care about who is witch-hunting who, I care about what the facts of the matter are, because sometimes it takes a political witch-hunt to do the right thing in this country. It was a political witch-hunt that removed Kemi Adeosun as Finance Minister, it was a political witch-hunt that removed Babachir Lawal as the number 5 citizen of this country. So if it would take another political witch-hunt to remove a corrupt Chief Justice I don't care. While not caring about the so called witch-hunt, I care only if the process of the witch-hunt is legal and procedurally correct so that the precedences we set does not come back to hunt us tomorrow. I love politicians who advance their political agenda within acceptable rules of the game, whatever their agenda is. I might not necessarily agree with their agenda, but I respect the discipline and dignity with which they go about the processes. It is only when we have rules that all of us can play the game and have a fair chance of winning.
.
On this CJN matter, do you know that there are positions you can take that can affect your today and tomorrow? The constitution did not say the CJN or other judges must first be sent to the NJC for ANY crime whatsoever, it only say they should be sent there for professional misconduct, which are offence committed in the discharge of their duty. The NJC was created to protect judges in the discharge of their duty. It doesn't matter whatever your interpretation is of the Appeal Court judgement for which several annoying arguments have been made, it doesn't matter the context for which that judgement was given, what matters is that such judgement is already null and void if it conflicts with the provision of the constitution which already specifically stipulates that the CCT is the right court to try a "judge" who is seen to have bridged the code of conduct. Besides, what is the need of even quoting any court judgement when there is no lacuna and the constitution is already as explicit as it needs to be?
.
Now, I want to ask you, have you taken the time to look at the composition of the NJC? Because if you haven't I will tell you... It is made up of 24 members including the CJN himself as chairman. Of those 24 members, 4 of them are statutory appointments by virtue of their position; 5 of them are appointed by the CJN but through the recommendation of the NBA, and the remaining 15 of them, including the CJN himself, representing a whopping 62.5 percent of the members are people the CJN selected and appointed himself. In fact, two of those 15 people can be his younger brothers who are not lawyers but who he thinks in his own brain are of "unquestionable integrity". Whoever wrote this part of the constitution must be a lunatic because even for the purpose of professional misconduct alone this is too much power for one man.
.
So those who are saying that a judge must first be sent to the NJC for any crime committed by him are not only saying what the constitution didn't say but are also telling us to send him to his own court for his own matter to be decided on by people he appointed himself. Even in law, no judge can preside over a matter involving the person who appointed him because of what the law call conflict of interest.
.
But if you look at all these perfectly valid points and continue to insist that judges must first be sent to the NJC for any crime committed by them, I would tell you the implications: the first one is that you would have created for judges an immunity that was never contemplated by the constitution. A judge can therefore come into your house, shoot your child, rape your wife, and take away your properties, and well, you just have to write to his friends at the NJC to look into it. Goodluck to you with that... The second one is that you would have created for the judge a special court different from the one created for the rest of us, such a court that is so powerful that if he is found innocent by those his friends for those heinous crimes, there would be no other court of Appeal for you and your dead relatives. And you would've created for the judge an immunity not only superior to that of the president but which makes them invariably above the law. It's not just the Chief Justice of Nigeria oh, but all judges including the magistrate at your local branch. There is a present and clear danger in the position you're canvassing, your stupidity should not blind you.
.
You see, most of you making these silly arguments, I am currently living better than you, and I know I will have a better life in this earthly life more than you. So when I make my own argument, that the judge is not and should not be above the law, or should not be given any cover that makes him technically above the law, I am making that argument more for you than for myself. You are the one I am pitying and the children you have in your hands today. I don't even have a child yet, I don't have a brother or relative languishing in jail for lack of speedy trial, I can fight for myself and know how to take care of my loved ones. The people you claim to be fighting for can also take care of themselves. So you probably need a fair and just system in Nigeria more than me and the people you pretend to be fighting for. Don't be stupid, don't shortchange yourself because of stupidity and anger and hate and bigotry. Ask yourself very well, what are the far-reaching implications of the positions you're canvassing? Look at the bigger picture, don't be shortsighted and myopic, don't be blind because of sentiment. Use the brain that God in heaven gave to you to think for yourself, and always ask yourself, what do you stand to gain from the position you're taking, not only today but also tomorrow. Your resources and morality have been looted, but you can still recover some portion of your looted brain. Anyway, good luck to you in your wailing life.
.
Yours truly. Baridam Ben from Port Harcourt

A father that cares about himself more than his children is a wicked foolish father just as a leader that cares for himself more than his people.

For 3 years this man has gone to England for treatment. Has he never considered other Nigerians that may be passing through the same ailments he is facing? How many hospitals has he built. Any youth that stands in support of this police escort using old generation, is a bastard.

How many schools have been built. We are the poverty capital of the world and you are talking nonsense. Our debt will soon eat up 50 percent of our revenue, we will be forced to sell national assets and you have no shame. These old men have robbed us over and over again, our greatest resource, our people, have been left uneducated and without basic amenities. Human dignity is uncommon in Nigeria and you try to to sell rubbish to us. Don't piss me off today
President Buhari is not your father, he's your president, he can only be your leader but can never fulfil the role of a father in your life, stop reasoning like a cow. This post is talking about his promises at Chatham House and not these trash you're spewing here. Should Buhari relinquish his right as a citizen to seek medical help wherever he likes just because he decided to help your sorry ass? A man who dedicated his entire lifespan to Nigeria must first kill himself before you would know he's trying for you. How ungrateful can wailers be! Is Buhari the result of all your sufferings as an adult? If you contributed to this country 1% of what Buhari has contributed Nigeria would be a great country. Fathers of tomorrow should be thought how to use condoms so they won't give birth to another generation of cretinous elements. Educated illiterates!

When the supporters of a president see the visits of other heads of states to the man they are supporting as achievement it means that there is nothing else to brag about.
Buhari's scorecard is minus 80. I'm sure that by the end of his tenure it will be minus 100.
You read but can't understand, study comprehension in school you refused, now see the result. Where in this post did anyone say the visits of head of States was an achievement? Did you miss the bit that talks about the bilateral and multilateral agreements signed (mostly on trade, investment, agriculture and security)? My post is not a breeding ground for imbecility.

Promise one:
Let me assure you that if I am elected president, the world will have no cause to worry about Nigeria as it has had to recently.
.
How Far?
Since Buhari became President, we've seen the president of super power countries like France, Germany, United States of America, China, Britain, visited Nigeria or invited our president to enter into bilateral and multilateral agreements with them on businesses and investment opportunities. This has happened with many African and Arab States as well. They confidently return stolen money to us while doing serious business with us like the fertilizer initiative with Morocco, the road construction partnership with China, and the power facilities partnership with General Electric of Germany. One came here and was talking about allowing Africa a permanent seat at the UN Security Council. Our president is Chairman of ECOWAS, the anti corruption champion of Africa, and he was invited to Haque recently not for war crimes but to teach them how best to fight corruption and crime. Our president has delivered on this promise. Foreign affairs is a strong area in any government, it's one of the three areas covered in American presidential debate, unfortunately Nigerians are too naïve to not appreciate it.
Score: 90%.
.
Promise Two:
That Nigeria will return to its stabilising role in West Africa.
.
How Far?
Of course it was the Nigerian military under President Buhari who intervened in the political crises in Gambia and provided stability to that country.
Score: 100%.
.
Promise Three:
Boko Haram has sadly put Nigeria on the terrorism map, killing more than 13,000 of our nationals, displacing millions internally and externally, and at a time holding on to portions of our territory the size of Belgium. If I'm elected president, no inch of Nigerian territory will ever be lost to the enemy.
.
How far?
Today, Boko Haram, while they still have their remnants around, they're not holding any territory in Nigeria.
Score: 100%.
.
Promise Four:
We will pay special attention to the welfare of our soldiers in and out of service, we will give them adequate and modern arms and ammunitions to work with.
.
How Far?
If you have anyone working in the military today kindly ask them, the government is not joking with them, their salary is not owed, and those of them working in the north east will tell you they've never had it better. Also, our soldiers not only have better weapons now, the US has sold us 12 Super Tucano Planes to our military, to be delivered when they're done coupling them.
Score: 100%
.
Promise Five:
We will improve intelligence gathering and border controls to choke Boko Haram’s financial and equipment channels.
.
How far?
In June this year the army arrested Boko Haram logistics supplier in Kaduna. In April they arrested their explosive experts. In Oct. 2015, they arrested one Mohammed Maina from Bama who is Boko Haram financier. There are countless of these cases which shows that the president has delivered on this promise.
Score: 70%
.
Promise Six:
We will be tough on terrorism and tough on its root causes by initiating a comprehensive economic development plan promoting infrastructural development, job creation, agriculture and industry in the affected areas.
.
How far?
Of course there is now the north east development commissioned to rebuild the infrastructure of the region. The president also has one of the largest social intervention program in the world today. The agric revolution through the CBN Anchors Borrowers program is heavy in the north. The president just need to keep doing that and improving education as well to completely stop terrorism in its root.
Score: 80%
.
Promise Seven:
We will always act on time and not allow problems to irresponsibly fester, and I, Muhammadu Buhari, will always lead from the front and return Nigeria to its leadership role in regional and international efforts to combat terrorism.
.
How far:
Of course Nigeria is today a leader in combating terrorism, nobody can deny that. The president also led from the front when he relocated command and control centre to Maiduguri. But unfortunately, the president failed in his promise not to allow problems irresponsibly fester when it comes to farmers-herdsmen crises. True, there is today a comprehensive response to the herdsmen crises and we're beginning to see the fruit, but the government was not proactive enough which would've prevented some of the killings. There was no response to the media campaign which made the crises appear far worse than it really is and created panic amongst citizens.
Score: 39%.
.
Promise 8:
In the face of dwindling revenues, a good place to start the repositioning of Nigeria’s economy is to swiftly tackle two ills that have ballooned under the present administration: waste and corruption. And in doing this, I will, if elected, lead the way, with the force of personal example.
.
How far?
The president is today receiving only 50% of his salary and allowances. The same with his VP. The president also declared his assets publicly. Nobody today can disdiversifirobust with him and his VP, which is the force of personal example he promised. There is a commitment to reduce waste and leakages, which has saved the country billions of naira. While corruption is still there, even the harshest critic of his government who is not ignorant and mischievous would agree that there is no longer the primitive looting of our treasury like we saw in the past.
Score: 80%
.
Promise Nine:
On corruption, there will be no confusion as to where I stand. Corruption will have no place and the corrupt will not be appointed into my administration.
.
How far?
The president is right, everybody knows today where he stands on corruption. You cannot even discus the subject with him, which is why some people like Obasanjo are not happy with him. While he has more clean people in his administration than any of his predecessors, one or two persons, however, are not so watertight when it comes to this corruption thingy. His response to the allegation against his finance minister has not been perfect, even though I would do the same as him if I were in his shoes. If corrupt people who can't get their way are blackmailing my finance minister in the hope that I'd sack her, I won't touch her, whether the allegation is true or not, because it will do the country more good keeping her than removing her. Appointees need to have the confidence to say no to corrupt elements in the hope that their bosses would have their back when blackmailed. If you give in, then you make everyone else in the administration vulnerable.
Score: 50%
.
Promise 10:
First and foremost, we will plug the holes in the budgetary process.
.
How far?
True, under him he revealed budget padding. He has used technology to stop padding at the executive level, but the national assembly is forcing his hand to swallow their padding at a different arm of government, and Nigeria would suffer if he outrightly refuse. We should be patient with him while he's working on that.
Score: 75%
.
Promise 11:
Revenue producing entities such as NNPC and Customs and Excise will have one set of books only. Their revenues will be publicly disclosed and regularly audited.
.
How far?
The president has delivered on this 100% with his restructuring of NNPC, Customs, NIMASA, etc. This is why these agencies of government are now making huge profits for the first time in their history. A senate committee member on petroleum said recently that he has always been in that committee, but this was the first time that they, the committee members, could have copies of the NNPC budget.
Score: 100%
.
Promise 12:
The institutions of state dedicated to fighting corruption will be given independence and prosecutorial authority without political interference.
.
How far?
The problem Saraki had with Buhari, apart from his over-ambition, is that the president refused to intervene in his corruption trial. EFCC and icpc under Buhari has his 100% support and zero interference. To be honest however, some element in his administration has the bad habit of manipulating security agents and he rightly gets blamed for it.
Score: 70%
.
Promise 13:
In reforming the economy, we will use savings that arise from blocking these leakages and the proceeds recovered from corruption to fund our party’s social investments programmes in education, health, and safety nets such as free school meals for children, emergency public works for unemployed youth and pensions for the elderly.
.
How far?
This is exactly what is happening. When you look at the budget revenue stream, you would see funds recovered by efcc and what the president has budgeted it for. The largest social intervention program in the country today is being funded from this corrupt money, if not how could we have done that in a recession?
Score: 100%.
.
Promise 14:

As a progressive party, we must reform our political economy to unleash the pent-up ingenuity and productivity of the Nigerian people thus freeing them from the curse of poverty.
.
How far:
There was a committee headed by El-Rufai set up by the party on restructuring, that committee did a fine job but the party has not progressed from there. The president needs to urge them to move forward, but I suspect they want to do that only after the election.
Score: 30%
.
Promise 15:
We will run a private sector-led economy but maintain an active role for government through strong regulatory oversight and deliberate interventions and incentives to diversify the base of our economy, strengthen productive sectors, improve the productive capacities of our people and create jobs for our teeming youths.
.
How far:
To be honest the president tried to sell some of Nigeria's assets to the private sector to fulfill the promise of making us a private-sector led economy, but the National Assembly refused. Even in the US, a president can promise something but if the Parliament does not grant it then he can't do it. Buhari needs to try again and not give up. The economic diversification under this government has been robust with massive investment in Agriculture. Capital sending in the budget has been increased to 30% year-on-year, which the bulk of it directed to areas that helps production. Millions of jobs have also been created.
Score: 70%
.
Verdict:
Out of 15 promises, the president has fulfilled 12 of them excellently, one of them good, and failed in two of them. Doing well in 13 out of 15 promises is 87% sucycess rate. This is an excellent performance by our president and he must be encouraged to keep doing well.

Well, this is a good development, he deserves to be appreciated
For your information, any government in power can bulldoze its way to re-election without having to pay anyone a dime. All the other previous presidents who got reelected, how much did they pay the masses? This program was part of President Buhari's campaign promises in 2015, the first batch had been done a long time ago, and the process of recruiting for the second batch started last year. It was not politics then. Why do sorry ass Nigerians use their mouth to make life difficult for themselves? By the way, would it not be better to use a social investment program that puts money in the pocket of citizens to campaign than to use thugs to unleash violence on people and steal their mandate as we see in the south south region? When you see a good thing just say it's a good thing, that's the only way you encourage them to do more. Saying what a government has done is good does not mean you can't say what they did somewhere else is bad when bad things happen. Opposition does not mean ungrateful attitude.

Not true at all, 99 to 41 is not something you can easily sweep away by stringing a few names together, unless you're blinded by sentiment. Let's judge and compare on the basis of what has been done already, not on appointments not yet done. Do you know that there are more than 5500 appointments yet to be done by PMB, and that these offices are still being occupied by persons appointed by the PDP under Goodluck Jonathan? Buhari is obviously not interested in those petty politics, if it were Jonathan or his apologists, all these people would've been replaced since.

EmeeNaka:
OP has deep seated problem.
Firstly, he lumped all the appointments together but when he come ministries, he started mentioning Key ministries and non-key ministries. Offices are not equal and that has to be looked into.
Why did Buhari only appoint two people from South as heads of security, none from Southeast and the remaining 8 from North?
Can you show us the recent appointment in NNPC that was approved by Buhari, where there are 12 appointment to North, and 5 appointments to South,of which SE has none? what is your rational for claiming Buhari's regime CBN governor is Emefiele but failed to acknowledge Lamido Sanusi as GEJ's CBN governor?
GEJ you're comparing to Buhari stayed 5years and changed Cabinet members at different times.
All these appointees are only useful to their families and friends. Nobody should be perturbed who is appointed and who is not and therefore no one should bring lies into such issues.
Jonathan didn't appoint Lamido Sanusi, the only opportunity he had to make appointment for that position he appointed Emefiele on acting basis. Buhari made Emefiele's appointment permanent. On security, Jonathan appointed more southerners than northerners too, and didn't appoint anyone from the North Central. At the end of the day, what Buhari has done is to give economic power to the south while leaving security power in the hands of the north. Check all the key economic positions, they're in the hands of southerners in Buhari's government, unlike Jonathan who kept both economic and military power in the south. As for ministries, each state has one, so I can't talk about who has more. What we can talk about is who are the senior ministers and the weight of their portfolios. This shouldn't be a rocket science to you, should it? Lastly, I agree that where those who have offices come from don't matter, if not the south would've been paradise by now considering what Jonathan did. What really matters is the quality of humans in those offices.

We're taking about appointments, not how long they lasted in his administration. This list is more fair to Jonathan than anything the wailers can put up, unfortunately the man didn't help himself at all.

once again, good job on the comparison.

I have never been too keen on who gets what positions except in specific areas such as security & INEC... because those are the two areas that I strongly feel have the biggest influence to manipulate voters' choices...

but if we are to dwell deeper into the issue of lopsided appointments, then recruitments into certain government agencies & parastatals would also have to come into play.

so at the end of the day, its all about perspectives... & like I pointed out previously & by PT, some appointments are missing, but that doesn't distract too much from the effort you have put into this...

The current INEC chairman and JEGA are the only two northern INEC chairmen we've ever had in this country. Both of the elections won by a southern Obasanjo were conducted by southern INEC chairmen. I think we should focus on merit and not where one come from, but if we were to harp on about where someone comes from, then the south has nothing to complain at all because we've had our own fair chance and we didn't prove to be any different.

As for lopsided recruitment, everybody does it, give them a chance at leadership and they pack in their brothers and sisters at the expense of merit.

There are so many misinformation here! for example, ihejirika was not the last chief of army staff under gej!
that alone has rubbished the rest!
I expect nothing less of wailers, always looking for an easy way out when backed into a corner. Ihejirika was Chief of Army Staff under Jonathan from 2010 to 2014, four years under a man who served for five years, does the person who served for the other one year matter, especially when they were both appointed by the same man? Besides, Ken Minimah took over from him, another southerner, so does it matter? I would've written Ken Minimah even though it's one year if Ihejirika was not appointed by Jonathan. I did my research on this list knowing that wailers would want to distort the truth as usual.

whoever took time to do this, deserves a pat on the back...

however, if GEJ was condemned for lopsided appointments, are pmb's supporters saying it is also ok for him to do same?

besides, the list contains some EDs in organisations with more than one ED, so it tactically brings out the southern EDs under GEJ & pmb & gives the impression that southerners are more...

furthermore, sensitive positions under GEJ were more spread out (e.g, security) than what is obtainable now...

also, organisations like NBC, SMEDAN, NBTE, TETFund & some others have been left out...

but for me, the big issue is that of the INEC chairman... coming from the same zone as the president is a no no
Thank you for acknowledging the painstaking hardwork involved in making this post.

On the issues raised, I didn't choose and select which one to post here and which one to leave out, this list is based on the appointments done by Buhari so far, I can't rate him on appointments yet to be done by him. We were all here when Businessday released that list and it was updated by the presidency. What I did was to make an independent investigation which any of you here can do to verify the information contained therein. That said, judging Buhari in isolation, he has already appointed more southerners into his government than northerners, something unheard of in the history of this country. And then Judging him in comparison to Jonathan, nothing justifies the overwhelming gap between 99 and 41, my eyes still can't believe it. Northerners were complaining then but we chose to ignore them only to wail now that we erroneously believe that same thing is done to us. Hypocrisy is a bitch! How can people wrongly refer to Buhari as a nepotic president when a bigot like Goodluck Jonathan is freely walking about and being called a democrat and a hero. This is the unjust and unfair nature of the world and we make it happen.

We're talking about appointments, what has your comment got to do with this post?

I may have missed a few appointments, but this list has about 98% of Buhari's appointment, and they take the same format. Out of the 140 appointments shown here, which represents about 95% of Buhari's appointments since he took over, 66 are from the north, while 74 are from the south. Looking at Jonathan's appointments, for exactly those same offices, only 41 came from the whole 19 northern states, while an unjust and unfair number of 99 came from the south with 17 States. Who is a tribal champion now between the both of them? This list proves that the so called worst of Buhari is miles better than the best of Jonathan. I'm a southerner, my interest is truth and justice, which is the only foundation upon which we can build a progressive society. No doubt, there are people who would think that because I'm a southerner, I shouldn't say these things, but how far has lies and deceit carried us as a people? Even with all the southerners appointed by Jonathan, his corruption and looting didn't allow the common man from the region to feel the impact of government, which shows that it is not where the person come from that matters but the content of the person's character. This federal character nonsense is rubbish, it stands in the way of merit and elevates mediocrity, it is corruption itself.

It's unfortunate that most Nigerians don't know the act of parenting, this explains their reaction to this post. What is explained here is all I'd been doing and it's worked for me. The one small thing to add is that you must also discipline them, using different methods, overall teach them the meaning of consequences.
Add this to the rest of the post and you're good to go.

Politics / South-East 95 LGAs VS Kano State 44 LGAs by baridamben(m): 12:43pm On Jun 14, 2017
“We want a Nigeria that gives each part of the country a sense of belonging. For example, in a country of 36 states, the South-East has five states and 95 local governments; while Kano State alone has 44 local governments." ~ Ohanaeze Ndigbo
.
My Take:
I agree with this statement, but he gave a very poor example. There is injustice everywhere in the country, the elites in every region have abused their proximity to power to give their people undue political advantage. While the reality of things on ground is a reflection of one elite outsmarting the other, the truth is that we're all guilty of the same crime of injustice, and it will continue, whether we break up or stay together, unless we're finally prepared to deal with it.
.
We're quick to point out the injustice that exist between the north and south, but what about the injustice that exist down here in the south? In Rivers State for example, only 2 out of 19 wards in Khana LGA is bigger than some local governments in the state. Ogoni with four LGAs has a population of 1.5 million people, while Bayelsa State has 8 LGAs with 1.7 million people, and Ebonyi State has 13 LGAs with 2.1 million population of people. None of these states is more economically viable than Ogoni area.
.
So I agree that there is injustice in the country, but comparing all the south-eastern states to Kano State is a poor example. According to the 2006 census, Kano State has a population of 9.4 million people, and receives N111 billion in federal allocation. The South-Eastern States have a population of 16 million people, and receives N283 billion in federal allocation. So, as a businessman, if 9.4 million people receives N111 billion, and 16 million people receives N283 billion, who do you think receives more, and who do you think is treated unfairly? If 9.4 million people gets one state and 44 LGAs, and 16 million people gets 5 states and 95 LGAs, then who is more cheated? Meanwhile, we're supposed to be all Nigerians with equal right and justice.
.
So you see now why I said I agree with Ohanaeze Ndigbo that there is injustice against the Igbos, but that injustice exists everywhere in the country, and we should be careful how we use this to whip sentiment because sometimes the people who scream the most are often the biggest beneficiaries of the corrupt system.

Please note that economic activities in the north-east has suffered greatly from the war against Boko Haram. Another thing that is clear from this statistics is that every region in Nigeria depends on oil from the Niger Delta. It is not as if they can't work harder to survive without oil money, but if you compare what they're generating currently to what they're receiving in federation account allocation, then you would understand why they're so lazy.
.
Another thing from the statistics is that the South-West is the only region in Nigeria that can survive right now no matter what happens in the oil industry. Funny enough, they're also the only region making the least noise and focusing completely on development. No wonder the economy of the country is controlled by individuals from that region.
.
Another thing to point out from this statistics is that the south-east has no superiority claim over the north. It is pure wickedness for those who clamour for Biafra to watch the economy of that region suffer while they preach about what would've been if they had their pipe dream. Why have all those who are promising to make Biafra heaven on earth not coming up with those ideas to improve the IGR of the south-eastern states, so as to at least improve the living condition of the people living there? Look at Lagos, look at Ogun, look at Kano, look at Rivers State and the high IGR they all command... Igbos are one of the biggest contributors to those IGRs, not by force but by choice, and they do so by freely associating with people from those regions. But Ogun State alone generates more revenue than all the south-eastern states combined, which means that on the strength of this statistics, it is arguable that the Igbos do better by associating with other people, and will perform woefully by staying on their own.

Is he the Commander in Chief?
Is he the one in charge of the police force?
Is he in control of DSS?
Please check your comment and explain how the governor "is at it again"?
The federal government is far, and that was why the framers of the constitution created the local and state government to bring governance closer to the people. The State government is the rallying point for all security agencies within a state to fashion a strategic approach to tackling crime within that state, and to give it the dedicated effort that is needed to sustain the fight against criminality. The governor has to give them support and coordination. But wike believes that if the security agencies in his state are not in his pocket for him to use in witch-hungint political elements, then they're on their own. The man is not prepared for governance, all he does is propaganda.

Admin am disappointed because this is a clear case of rival cult groups, please confirm before allowing persons use this platform to spread lies
Rival cult groups with AK47 and G3 assault rifles? Where did they get those weapons from? Is the government not suppose to protect lives and properties because they're cult guys? Are the hundreds of innocent persons killed in the state everyday also cult guys? What if I tell you that this particular boy in the picture was not a troublemaker, would you say he wasn't deserving of government protection? What is lies about the appointment of people with criminal history as caretaker chairmen in Rivers State? What is the lie that Rivers State was a theatre of war in 2015 as declared by the Supreme Court, and that what we're seeing now is a direct result of that war? Is it not a shame that we've been hearing of killing in Rivers State since Wike took over and he hasn't done anything to resolve the issue? Please this is not a time to play the ostrich, this is the time to look evil in the face and call it its rightful name. People are dying...

Na you pull the trigger wey make u talk say na G3 gun dem use. Take time o and mind what you write publicly.
He was shot in a crowded environment with hundred of witnesses. After shooting, they entered their bike and jejely strolled away, they weren't in any hurry to leave at all. These are street boys who don't even have money to buy cloth and eat food... They steal cheap handset with AK 47 and other sophisticated rifles... So where did they get the guns from? These are weapons that were brought into Rivers State for the 2015 election... The Supreme Court declared that Rivers State was a theatre of war, and the war was not fought with bare hands but with these rifles. From street to street, village to village, and town to towns, young men were given guns to chase after APC people and scatter their rallies... After the election, the guns were not retrieved, it was kept in the hands of the "anchor-heads" who were later appointed as caretaker committee chairmen of the local governments. Ordinary boys on the street would then go and hire these guns, sometimes they would return them after hire, sometimes they don't, then there would be another crises. So Patience Jonathan and Wike are behind the escalation of crime in Rivers State, and the governor is not willing to tackle the menace because he see the boys he often refer to as "our boys" as a necessary tool to perpetuate himself in power beyond 2019? How many of his boys were arrested in Etche just this weekend? When the federal government comes in, he would start a campaign of calumny against them and petition the National Assembly, while at the same time compromising security information.

Politics / Re: How Did The Dollar Manage To Stay At N170 For 4 Years Under Goodluck Jonathan? by baridamben(m): 9:57am On Feb 04, 2017

The two clowns above me, wat av u got to say now that oil price is between 53-55dollar per barrel now?
That is why the foreign reserve has been rising consistently since October of 2016. If Buhari can offset outstanding dollar demands of about 6 billion dollars and still have to grow the reserve at the current price of crude, what do you think he would've done as president if crude was over 120 dollars a barrel as it was in the previous administration? Stop calling people clowns, especially when you're much worse than that.

Politics / Why It Is Plain Foolishness To Attend The 2face Protest by baridamben(m): 7:39am On Feb 03, 2017
I like 2 Face, he's one of the very few musicians in Nigeria that I love to listen to, and I think he's the best Nigerian musical talent of his generation. 2Face, like any other Nigerian, has an inalienable right to protest and a right to join anyone to protest for whatever reason they feel aggrieved about. I don't think it is sensible to begin to contest his rights or question his educational background, it has nothing to do with the issue.
.
The point however is that this protest lacks focus and direction, or at best misdirected and ill-conceived. You can't wake up one morning and say you want to protest against bad governance by everybody. The question then would be, what constitute bad governance, and is it possible to achieve all those things that constitute good governance at the same time? A protest must have an objective, measurable and achievable, and it is the only way we could tell if it has succeeded or not.
.
When you talk about the ongoing protest in America, everybody knows it is about immigration policies. If the government reverse that policy then everyone would also know that the protest has succeeded. For the one that was done in Egypt, it was clearly a protest to unseat the government of the day, and the protest did not end until it succeeded. Come back to Nigeria, the #OccupyNigeria protest of 2012 was against the removal of fuel subsidy and reversal of the over-the-top fuel price imposed on the nation at a critical point in time. All these protests were well defined, measurable, specific, and achievable. If a protest is not defined along this line, then it is bound to fail from the beginning.
.
The organisers of the 2Face protest claim they're protesting against bad governance in Nigeria. What I would've expected them to do is to specify what they consider as bad governance, have them on a list and demand that they be reversed. It is only then that one would know and understand who the protest is directed at, and who is expected to act.
.
A situation where you're trying to protest against bad governance and a governor like Ayo Fayose, a man who was caught on tape plotting to rig the Ekiti State election and subvert the will of the people, is putting his hands up to protest with you, then there is a misunderstanding somewhere. No other crime is bigger than electoral fraud in a democracy, and a perpetrator of such crime should not and cannot claim to have the moral authority to protest against anyone else? But if Fayose could not even understand that the protest was also against him, then it means that the organisers did not properly articulate their message, targeting it at everyone and nobody. So Fayose and other governors or big men sponsoring and supporting the protest have already compromised the protest, leaving the impression that it is sponsored by those trying to fight the government of the day. It is now seen as a protest that is designed to make noise and cause disruption in the system, and that is why no well-meaning citizen who is making use of his senses would want to join in.
.
Also, bad governance in Nigeria expresses itself in some faulty structures and dysfunctional institutions. I want Nigerians to protest, but before such protest, we should be able to do our own analysis and tell ourselves what we think is our problem. If you want resource control or fiscal federalism, state police, local government autonomy, electoral reforms, Petroleum Industry reforms, major education and security reforms, then President Buhari is not the main man you need. President Buhari is not the national assembly, his job is not necessarily to restructure Nigeria, his job is to executive whatever structure we have in place. The National Assembly is the true arm of government tasked with restructuring the country. The president can only do reforms and policy formulation and once in a while request to the national assembly in the form of an executive bill. Other than that, there is nothing he can do. But it is the National Assembly who has most of the powers to help Nigeria achieve her true greatness.
.
For Nigeria to work, the three tier and three arms of government must work in synergy with one another. The executive must execute existing laws, the judiciary must be ready to deliver speedy justice, and the legislature must be ready to review the system and address whatever is going wrong with it. For the three tiers of government... Federal government must be up and doing in terms of security, provision of major infrastructure to help the economy, and then shape our foreign relations. This is why the United States presidential debate is centred around security, economy and foreign relations. The state and local government are however more closer to the people, and most of our day-to-day problems are their responsibilities.
.
If 2Face and his protest organisers were able to analyse the problems as every other protest organiser should, then it would've been easier for them to know where they're taking their protest to. If they knew what they're protesting against, if they were not pushed by corrupt elements, then they would've easily accepted the challenge to debate on Live National TV, as it would've afforded them the platform to have a larger national audience.
.
President Buhari's federal executive is the most functional organ of government in the country at this moment. Buhari has done well on security, he has done well on corruption, he is laying solid structures for the economy to grow. His first budget is just about 8 months old and nobody can expect him to perform any magic with the rot he inherited in such a short period. But with what I am seeing, with what Buhari is doing, Nigeria's economic fortunes will change for the better very soon. What the 2 Face group should've done is to put pressure on the National Assembly to address the defects in the system that is slowing down the process of change. Unfortunately, they're not doing that because the protest is not meant to address any real issue of change in the society, it is rather about painting the current government bad, and that is sad because we're missing a big opportunity to put an end to all our problems with Buhari as president.
.
The protesters say they're protesting against bad governance since 1999 till date... You know why? Because the organisers are serving the interest of those who want to paint the APC bad, tell us how bad their PDP is, and then form what they called a Mega opposition party. That is the end point to this protest, and if Nigerians must join, it is only fair that they know what they're joining. This protest is being sponsored by people in the PDP who cannot accept the fact that Nigeria's treasury does not belong to them, and a few corrupt elements within the APC who does not feel they're getting enough from the current system. These people are not willing to accept that it is no longer business as usual, so they key into the cry of the people, a cry that was caused by them in the first place, they exploit it as a weapon to fight the government with.
.
Nigerians should be wise, don't join any protest that you don't know the real organisers, and don't know what it seeks to accomplish. You can't attend a protest and risk everything to finally go home accomplishing nothing. That's just plain foolishness.
.
