Romance / My SUMEC Generator Misbehaves With My Television, ADVISE PLEASE by BaronBright: 7:44pm On Sep 21, 2020
Good Day Good people of Nairaland.. Trust your Monday went well

Please, I am in a bit of a fix. I have a Sumec Firman Generator SPG 1800 which is fairly new since I bought it in July. I don't use it very much and so far it hasn't developed fault.

I live in a one room with a small 23 inch Toshiba LED TV and a small Akai Tabletop fridge.

My issue is that my generator cannot power the Television alone except I have to plug in something with high voltage like the fridge, and when I plug in the fridge, it comes on but due to how the fridge mechanism fluctuates up and down, whenever the fridge goes down, so does the TV.

I have also experimented with pressing Iron and electric cooker. Whenever I plug them, the TV comes on, but whenever they fluctuate, TV goes off... I wonder why the gen wont power the TV naturally without added help.

(The TV also doesn't on when there is low current)

WHAT DO YOU ADVISE ME TO DO ON THIS? Get a stabiliser? Or repair the TV?

Politics / Dear Biafrans, Congratulations! by BaronBright: 10:16am On Feb 06, 2020
Congratulations on this epoch – making occasion of your liberation and freedom. It is the dawn of a new day and has been a long time coming for Biafra. The roads have been long, bumpy and uncertain. Lives have been lost in the struggle, thousands of them – if not millions; egos have been bruised. At the end of the day, the words of Albert Einstein comes to mind: If at first the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it.

Some people will wonder what the felicitation is all about. It would serve them well, not to judge Biafra by the height it has now achieved, but consider the depth from which it all started. It is only by so doing that they would fully appreciate the significance of this accomplishment. Let us observe a minute of silence in the memory of, and in recognition and honor to those who paid the supreme price in the course of the struggle.

As you begin this undoubtedly onerous journey to Nationhood, allow me to prescribe what I consider guiding principles upon which the achievement of an enduring greatness, which you so much desire and deserve rest.

LEADERSHIP

One of the first major challenge that you may face is that of leadership. Piloting the affairs of a new nation, a nation just emerging from the ashes of a disintegrated fiefdom is not an all-comers affair. It requires unique sets skill-set. It requires that individual that is genuinely ready to be a servant of the people. The president (or prime minister) as you may choose, should be a role model. When put on a pedestal, he must be of such character as will instil strong character in the Biafran youth and set the tone for ongoing civic engagement.

Your leader and all his appointed lietenants must be able to set the stage for an enduring economic and social system, upon which your future fate as a Nation will rest. Just as the fate of a building rests on the foundation, so must you ensure that your Nation produces that first leadership that eschews all forms of biases and see his constituency as the whole of the Biafra Nation. I am sure you have read the now infamous quote credited to former South African President, Pieter Botha where he said “Black people cannot rule themselves because they don’t have the brain and mental capacity to govern a society” – Unfortunately he seems to have been right in the case of most black nations.

You must also have seen what happened in South Sudan after they gained their independence as a sovereign nation; how brethren that collectively fought for their independence later turned against each other. This must not be the testimony of the new Biafra Nation.

Let it not escape the Biafran leadership that a great nation is built on a strong intellectual foundation. This means you must strive to ensure, paraphrasing the counsel of Chinua Achebe, that politicians with plenty of money but very low IQs are not given pride of place in the administration of your New Nation.

MINORITIES’ INTEREST

The interest of the minorities in Biafra has been a thorny and contentious one. It has even been one of the tools used by the “subjugators” to frustrate the quest of Biafran for their rightly deserved freedom. While I am wholeheartedly convinced that the Biafra Nation will be a Nation for all its citizens, with equal right, opportunities and privileges, I thought it needed to be called out for emphasis. Biafra would do well to harness the immense potential of all its citizens. It should strive to place round-pegs in round holes, irrespective of ethnic origin. It is only by so doing that you will forestall stoking an uneasiness with potential to snowball into agitation by its citizens.

However, I see enough cultural homogeneity within Biafra that will foster an all-inclusive communal co-existence. Biafra must uphold the core principles of unity, self-determination, excellence and social justice, all of which were key aspirations as originally contained in the Ahiara Declaration of June 1, 1969.

Politics / Why One Nigeria Cannot Work by BaronBright: 6:18am On Jan 28, 2020
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is a separatist movement founded in 2012 by Nnamdi Kanu, a British Nigerian.

Its purpose seeks to revive, agitate and actualize the sovereign state of Biafra; an old dream of Eastern Nigeria. The contemporary agitation for Biafra republic was reignited in 1999 by Chief Ralph Uwazurike with the formation of Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, (MASSOB). Similarly, the Biafra Zionist Movement (BZM) was founded by Benjamin Onwuka in 2010. The agitation for a Biafran state took a new dimension with the inception of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a faction of MASSOB led by Nnamdi Kanu.

In the heat of the of protests during the years, 2012 to 2015, IPOB and it’s members have come under intense criticism and persecution both by the Nigerian government and the security officials.

The height of it was labelling of IPOB as a terrorist organisation by the Buhari-Led Government after IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was captured in a brutal manner which led to the death of many unarmed members of IPOB.

Then came the trials and the attempt to subdue the movement, which failed woefully.

Why can’t One Nigeria work?

One Nigeria was a fruitless ploy to unite all states and regions of Nigeria by Yakubu Gowon after slaughtering nearly millions of Igbos in the Civil war. To cover up for his shortcomings, he named the notion “One Nigeria”, which was just all it was, a chant.

Because Nigeria has never been more divided than it was after his regime.

Using the saying, “Give a dog a bad name….” Nigeria and it’s sympathetic media tends to hypocritically paint IPOB in a bad light to the whole world, This declaration of IPOB as a terrorist group was sharply criticized locally and internationally, including the United States and the European Union (EU).

Why else will they label an armless activist organization as Terrorists? While the real Terrorists ravage and plunder their lands up north. And get a slight tap on the wrist for doing so. The pictures below describe it better.

The Buhari-led government and its sycophants have always felt threatened by the Igbo man. Thus in a way to punish them, they are deprived of prime political positions, they are denied social amenities due to them, and their leaders are tried and prosecuted every day.

With the mounting political pressure, the south-east governors at a meeting of the southeast Governors Forum, on Friday, 15 September 2017 at Enugu, issued a communiqué banning IPOB and its activities in all the Igbo states, and directed the group to channel all their grievances to the committee of governors, or the Ohaneze Ndigbo or the
National Assembly members, through the South East governors. Also, on 17 September 2017, the Nigerian President signed a presidential order proscribing or banning IPOB for what the government described as the group’s ‘involvement in terrorist activities’. This ban makes IPOB and its activities in Nigeria illegal and punishable by law.

For asking for a referendum and demanding secession?

The “One Nigeria” notion is already lost on us. Most youths nowadays don’t even know the meaning or history behind it. Anyone still claiming “One Nigeria” must be a hardened hypocrite who is blind to what is happening in the society. One Nigeria is like a slave-chant which Northerners use to quell uprisings from the other tribes while they ravish them.

Igbos against Yorubas, Yorubas against Igbos, Fulanis Hausas and other pro-Northern tribes taking up arms against the rest of the country.

Nigeria was never One.

Programming / Re: Programmers: At What Age Did You Start Programming? by BaronBright: 8:19am On Dec 02, 2019
Well, First of all, I salute all the programmers here, and the up-coming programmers. Una dey try I swear. I have a passion and flair for programming, but I neva get mind to start, it's like new languages and sequences are coming out every day and you won't know the one to pick from. And honestly my main reason for wanting to learn programming is to make money out of it, not just a hobby. I have the tools at my disposal (a strong laptop and good internet), I'm tech-savvy, and I believe age is on my side (I'm 20 and I recently wrote my final uni exams on August, I didnt read Computer).

So my main question now is, when I want to start learning, Which language would be better to learn first (as a launch pad for other languages)?

You can list them for me, I'll really appreciate. Thanks once again.

Face unlock works on the Nigeria Region, you only just have to update your phone once you get it.

It doesn't work out of the box because at the time of release Xiaomi was not officially present in Nigeria

Thanks a lot man!!

Good morning all and a happy Sunday to you all.

Straight to the point.... Im getting a redmi note 7.. and I heard that different locations during set up changes the settings of the phone.. e.g there is no face unlock when you put it in Nigeria. And so on.

My question now is, will setting my location to somewhere else other than NIGERIA affect the normal user experience of the phone?? Like languages and co.

If Yes.

What are the functions it will affect?

Yo! Guys, good day. I recently ordered a Redmi note 7 pro. And as I learnt, it doesn't come with a Fast charge charger. And from previous posts, some people said they tried alternatives like samsung chargers and supported the fast charge function on their phones. Would anybody be kind enough to please tell me other alernative phone chargers that support fast charging on the redmi note 7 pro. Thanks a bunch.
