Please, how long does a SA Visa take? I have a conference to attend in Cape Town on 24th January. I want to apply on 4th January since SA embassy will be off from 18th December to 3rd January.

Will I get the visa before 24th January?

As of 18th November, 2017, he used the name of the other woman as being married to her.

Now, less than a month, he saw your friend that came back from the US and they courted probably for few days and already paid her bride price. That's REALLY very strange. And he's about to be ordained a priest.

Hello BlowJobs, thank you for your sincere exposition.

Can one work with B1/B2 on his own? I mean he will not look for any job. He will only be offering web design and graphics design services to people online. He will not be working physically in the US, but online.

your docs are good. Just make sure the statement you are supplying have salary entries that tallies with the net figures on the individual payslips supplied. Also make sure your friend inviting you writes a well sesnsible reason why he is inviting you . describing your relationship and how long you have known each other should be mentioned. You should also address your relationship with him on your cover letter aiming at showing keenness towards meeting your best mate and having a good time with him (Infact that's should be the tone on both letters written by you two).concentrating less on visiting the UK and be very emphatic about having a job you enjoy that you are going back to. . If you have anything to show both having a good time(pics) that's not bad to add.. also any evidence of communication will be good to add. If you haven't got these , don't worry at all as they are no deal breakers. Wish you the best.

I have a serious challenge. My salary are paid in cash physically. It's not deposited or paid through a bank account. That's my challenge. I personally pay into my account or ask someone to pay in for me. And what I usually pay in is not my exact salary.

Again, I have another source of income. I design websites, so I get clients. It's my side business. I get clients paying into my account.

What should I do? Address it in a cover letter?

I think it might be best for you pay for your trip (sponsor) especially if you work. If your boss decides to give you money towards the trip why not. But the less complicated and eyebrow raising stories in your application the better. It makes you application take a different shape compared to being sponsored.
I am not ruling out that a working young adult can't be sponsored (it really depends on the circumstance).

However if you have a fantastic boss who what's to sponsor your trip, you can add him as a co-sponsor but he should be ready to provide a letter explaining why he is doing that and also include his work/business documents , proof of earnings/bank statements. If he/she can't do this , don't think they will buy the story.

If you have a brother in the U.K. Who is inviting and accommodating you, I will suggest you make it plain an simple ... sponsor your self.

Thank you.

So, since have a friend who is inviting me and who will accommodate me in his house, I should simply sponsor myself for other expenses?

My host has sent:
* Passport data page
* Invitation letter
* Utility bills

I will sponsor myself. I have:
* 6 months payslip
* 6 months bank account statement
* marriage certificate
* Cover letter for my other source of income
* letter from my employer

Just in case it helps anyone.

I invited few family members to UK recently as I find it a lot easier than traveling back due to having very young child.

So this time, invited my younger sister. she has a job , which pays her just under 150k. To make matters worse, about 40% of the salary is always owed for months before it's paid which makes her take home under 100k . I knew her income will be the "k leg" for that application. Considering her outgoings in a month is about. 70-80% of her income. She gets some pocket money from fiancé. which is another explanation for ECO. I was still bent on not totally sponsoring the trip.

So I invited her for a few days and clearly stated on my letter that she will go back and back to her job at the end of her stay. And that we will accommodate her during her day. I included a copy of my passport and water/electricity bill .

So my sister was down as the sponsor. Not because I can't easily afford it , but cos I think it makes sense that a responsible adult that has a job pays for their flight at least (there are cheap flights) and then have some pocket money to spare. so we put down the cost of trip as £800. Wrote a cover letter to address the short payments in months. and also clearly stated that finance also gives regular financial support. (Didn't add any doc from the fiancé cos it's irrelevant)

So in summary , she submitted ; her passport, payslips , letter from employer, salary account, personal account, electricity bill in her landlords name.

I got a call from ECA to discuss the application, during which he asked who is sponsoring the trip which I clarified that she will pay for her flight because she works and I will fully care for her when she is here. " I went on oo,cos that's my opportunity to clear things up.

So after that call , 1 month passed no response and another month passed, then another month ..... I even wasted my hard earned money phoning the clueless help line. I then decided to write to my MP to help. Visit visa taking longer than spouse visa causes great concern. Also at no point did we receive an email stating it will take long. We just got the standard 15 day processing email.

My MP kindly wrote to UKVI to query the delay. If that helped or not .. me don't know. But she got a response after 10 days. Picked up her passport with visa in it.

Very pleased with the outcome. To those still waiting you will get your good news soon. What I have learnt with visa applications is to put urself in the position of ECO and produce all relevant docs, and address any issues on a cover letter . Bearing in mind you don't attend interviews so that the only opportunity you have. Honesty also is the key cos it just makes all the stories you tell to add up sensibly.

Make I go prepare to receive my little sisi baby . Have missed her a lot!!! She is here next weekend. So excited.

Thank you. This gives me a head up.

I will have to sponsor myself.

I wanted my brother to sponsor me.

But, what if my employer sponsors me and explains it's my privilege as he's PA?

I know a few folks would not want to accept the truth. The applicant's circumstances here is very shabby. Only invitation letter and biodata page from the so-called host This is automatic refusal, no arguments. The ECO would be more concerned of how you will spend your visit in the UK. Under appendix V, the visa would be refused. Are you going to get your brother in Nigeria to send funds to your UK friend? You say your UK friend is the host, meaning they will House u, I believe. You need to provide evidence that they are capable of hosting you without recourse to public funds. You would have to provide payslips and bank statements of your Uk host. Otherwise how does the ECO establish the circumstance of the one you say is hosting you? I know you might say you have all the finances from your brother, this doesn't hold water.

You might have bank statements and payslips of your brother, there is no proof he would actually release the funds to you. You must have your birth certificate and your brother's birth certificate where your parents names are clearly written on them.

In my opinion, this application is shabby. A fit man who is employed in Nigeria is applying to visit the UK, his brother in Nigeria is paying for the trip and he has a friend in the Uk to host him. This is very shabby. The ECO would question why you need to make that visit and why you require funds from your brother and why a friend is hosting you in the UK for an ordinary visit.

Also in your list of documents there is nothing showing that you have a relationship with your friend.

OK.

What kind of documents will prove a relationship with myself host. We hate known for more than 10 years when her was in Nigeria.

He will be sending me his utility bill next week.

I'm coming on his invitation to have home rest in his house for my vacation. Should I opt to say in hotel when he's hosting me?

So, I should add birth certificates of myself and my brother?

Your host MUST provide proof of accommodation - Utility bill showing his name and address or mortgage bills which ever
You still need to proof this relationship? Or how do you expect the ECO to know that he's truly your brother? A letter from him is not Enough. What are your brother's circumstances in Nigeria, and why will the ECO believe his bank statement and ability to sponsor you?

My brother that's sponsoring me has a chemical industry where soaps are manufactured. He's sponsoring me financially. All me travel expenses will be taken care of by him.

My host in the UK is a friend. He's a Nigerian and British citizen.

You need more evidences of the relationship with your sponsor, e.g. Photos with you and your sponsor, email communication etc.
Sponsor's utility bills or evidence of accommodation if you're going to stay with your sponsor

My sponsor is my brother. He's here in Nigeria.

My host in UK is not sponsoring. There's no financial commitment on his part. He will only provide me accommodation (I will stay in his house).

Trailer fall on your argument!!!

We don't guess. Some people here have read the Uk immigration law as well as Guideleines for ECOs. Some of us are painstaking to study refusal letters to ascertain why visas are refused, we don't guess, we do not conclude either. But we can give strengths and weaknesses of an application.

If trailer fall on it, I will resurrect it.

You can only study refusal letters after the interview to ascertain, but you can't speak authoritatively before the interview.

Bro, I have said it. The nagging guy for which your response was tailored is here not to learn, but to show they know something called nothing. Best is to ignore him. No one says his visa would be denied. If he so believes no one here is an ECO, why then did he post his initial question? If he were intelligent he would have known any constructive criticism is to better prepare him to have a stronger footing to get a visa.

Surely relatives can sponsor applicants' visa applications but these come with conditions. The gov.uk directive will tell you a brother can sponsor a sister on face value. But then the ECO decides when this is practically reasonable.

If the ECO decides when it's practically reasonable, it means we are all guessing. No one should speak conclusively, that's my argument.

It's not true oga. Someone can sponsor a working adult. So, if an employer decides to sponsor his employee, you will still say it doesn't hold water? It's not true sir.

One's uncle, employer, brother, etc can sponsor him. Working adult, and so?

Just listen to yourself. You speak as if you are an ECO. Those that sponsored themselves and got everything right, yet were denied, what happened?

Are you asking a genuine question or you want to mock us

On the application form, you would be asked automatically in the system why your sponsor is sponsoring you. No one says your brother can not sponsor you. The ECO would definitely question why you need the funds. So the onus is on you to convince them. You can have two people in exactly the same situation as you, one gets a visa and the other doesn't. Can you explain why this is so

I understand. I can't explain. And you can't explain. This is why no one can unilaterally say my chance is slim. Is he an ECO?

Yes, I will explain why my brother is sponsoring me. He's more financially capable than me. He's my brother. He's my elder brother.

They listed possible persons that can sponsor one.

I have read about people that sponsored themselves and they have strong account balance and the money was not lodgement, yet they were denied. Can you explain why?

You are also telling me that if my friend provides accommodation and feeding for me, I will be denied since free things can make me stay. How did you arrive at that conclusion? I should stay in a hotel, abi?

Just give your opinion and make it a dialogue so that we reason together, not writing conclusively as if you work with UK immigration.

Bro, if you are not gonna accept advice you'd better not bother posting here. No one is an ECO, but remember this forum has been on for a while now and the longest participants have seen people's experiences as posted here. You can get advice which would emanate from what people have actually experienced and shared here. People come here and ask initial incomprehensive questions and when they get constructive advice, they pour out more information. Then it seems the applicant is debilerately being discouraged. You have finally said your account is ok. Fine then. Why did you come here to seek opinion? If you know it all, then hit the 'apply' button already.

So, if my account is ok, no need for my brother to sponsor me? I see.

And since my account is ok, I should stay in a hotel and not at my friend's house. You try.

I think you misinterpreted the counsel of @Justwise. No one is discouraging you from applying. The point is if you are able to save up to N1.6M, why not sponsor the whole trip? Sometimes relying on a UK resident to part sponsor a visit visa require explaning why they must do this and providing documentation to support the relationship, as there is a potential likelihood over overstaying (free food/accommodation). Believe me, the ECO will be more interested in your monthly salary, monthly expenditures and how you were able to saved 1.6M! Your worries should be convincing the ECO that this money is yours.

Thank you.

So, if I have a friend that has invited me to spend my vacation with his family, I should stay in a hotel and feed myself in order to convince the ECO?

My account is ok. I have been in active employment for 8 years.

I am sure we understand that none of us is a UK immigration ECO. These are just suggestions and what we think. Be polite please and don't give false hope or outright discouragement. UK visiting visa has no definite rule like PBS visas. I have invited many people with an overdraft in my account and written a good descriptive letter, provided my employment details etc. They were granted visa. Some have had 2yrs visa.

But no mago mago documents please. The ECOs are no fools and know that Nigerians are good at trying funny things. Make whatever you present as convincing as possible. No rush.

Thank you sir. I just tire for the guy. The way he was just saying that I have slim chance tire me.

Here's what I have..

My friend in UK, who's also a British citizen has sent me:
* Invitation Letter
* Data page of his British Passport

My brother has given me:
* His 6 months bank statement with balance of 2.6 Million Naira.

My employer has given me:
* Letter outlining when I was employed and my monthly salary and the approval to travel.

I have gotten my:
* 6 months bank statement with the balance of 800,000 Naira.
* 6 months payslip
* Wedding certificate
* Traditional marriage and wedding pictures
* Wife and child picture with me.

My monthly salary is 120,000 Naira and I spend like 70,000 Naira every month.

I planned to spend 600,000 Naira for the trip, covering only flight tickets and few expenses.

My friend in the UK will feed and accommodate me. I plan to stay only 4 weeks.

The 600,000 Naira I planned to spend will be given to me by my brother.

Please, check. Is there any other documents I will need to include?

Thank you sir.

I have worked with the company for 8 years.

I can build my account to 1.6m, but all expenses will be handled by my brother.

My expenses are:

1. Flight tickets (round trip) from Lagos to London and London to Lagos = 300k
2. Flight tickets (round trip) from London to Manchester and Manchester to London = 50k

My accommodation and feeding will be taken care of by my friend in UK. He's also a British citizen.

I will only visit: Old Trafford, Manchester cathedral, Manchester Town Hall, and I have good home rest.

Round tickets from Lagos to London is about 280,000 Naira on Ethiopian Airline.

But the same tickets on British Airways is $3,480 which runs to more than a Million Naira.

Why the huge difference?
