Guys, I have been away to so long.
How are u finding hitv? I am kind of disappointed. For sports lovers only, they cannot be dissapointed but if you look for more than sports on your cable tv, then you have to look elsewhere.
How can a cable tv not transmit 24hrs. Or why will they keep repeating the same film more than ten time. Don't they have any other film apart from Terminator 3?
Till now they do not have a dedicated movie channel.
I think they are just a premiership and La Liga tv. That seem to be their only weapon. A cable tv should cut accross every genre.
Give us documenary(Discovery, National Geographic Channel etc) to educate us and our young ones. give us Movies to watch till late night or when on leave and at home alone. Give us entertainment. Then they should STOP REPEATING FILMS. There are billions of films in the achive and new ones coming out daily.

I have permanently put off my decoder and resolved to buying DVDs (Prison Break, LOST, Grey's Anatomy, The Unit and the likes).

I work hard and expect to get some relaxation in form of entertainment which I am paying for but lo and behold, hitv is giving me hi-nonsense or hi-rubish.

They are not doing bad at all as per their transmission. At least La Liga is going on and they transmit the matched live. Though no half time comments yet. But in all fairness La Liga is great. So with that in mind I don't think they will mess up with premiership.

What I am waiting for now is their movies (ART Movies) Their Hi-mix and Hi-Nolly have been repeating films. I think I have seen all their films now both local and foreign. Maybe when they start billing they will show beta films.

Ages,
It depends on the kind of information you are looking for.
As per new stations?- none.
New programs?- Nill.
Pending stations now showing? - No
Clarity? - Still the same - Good
Billing? - Not yet. (I think)
At per with DSTV? - give them a break. Long way to go.

So what other info are you looking for?

Take Care

mufikings, I don't know the stations they are hoping to add. I guess they have to concentrate on getting these ones right first. Adding a new one in future should not be a problem so long as it will not increase our subscription
grin

Oh, I think Nickelodeon is in the pipeline.

Sega, you sure are a mediator. Anyway you did a good job.
I called their CEO and he explained and apologised for their current state. The sales reps gave us a wrong information. the started billing the very day it was installed. Also they have the rights to the stations already but NBC wants them to present them with a certificate which they are still waiting for. He said he wants to do things the right way. Guess that is the price for honesty. It is worth it though.
also I discovered that my dish shifted. I climbed my roof and adjusted it. I also suggested to their CEO that they could use the same hanger that DSTV dish uses to hang our dish to the wall. Hitv can give customers the option of buying it from them or installing it on a normal pole but the consequences should be explained. It should be a matter of choice. He promised to pass the message along immediately.

I forgot to ask when they want to start showing us the information on the program currently being aired and the next one coming up. So if I bump in on a program I can know the title and a brief on it.

I think it a matter of Intergrity. I am not against a new nigerian station. What I am pissed with is the fact that they are not fulfilling their promises. Nigerians too should learn not to promise what we cannot deliver. When you do that, you raise hopes and expectations. And when you fail, people get disappointed.
I personally went to their office and even introduced my friends. They told us they are still working on their channels and that is why they will not start billing yet. They said this is their testing period and closing deals on stations to transmit.

I paricularly bought it because of sports and movies. those are the two things I watch. sometimes documentary.
My friends that I introduced are also complaining.

I don't put sentiment into things like this. In believe in having value for my money. Why should I be paying for what I am not enjoying. I'm sorry I don't subscribe to that.

I had to insert my smart card over the weekend 'cos they stations were scrambled.

Secondly, Sega told us that their network is not weather dependent. That is not true. The rain of the last two days disrupted their signal. The moment the rain started, I lost signal. It dropped to 15% and nothing showed until the rain stopped. I called my friends to confirm that my dish had not shifted out of position and they confirmed the same thing. So this raining season that is already here will surely disrupt our reception.

If they can work on this it will be very good else it will be a "little fox in their vine".

Which ART Movies are u talking about. I went to ART Movies' webssite for their tvguide and this is what I saw.

http://www.art-tv.net/MoviesAmerica/Eng_MoviesAmerica_index.asp?ChannelId=40

So pls tell me where the hollywood movies will show up.
I know ART transmits StarWorld, Star Movies and TCM. Are these the ones HiTV plans to show us too. If that is is then it is worth waiting for. Else. I am still looking for a buyer.

A satelite tv is not complete without a documentary (eg discovery, National geographic etc) Where will that come in. CArtoon network is 24 hours. Why will they say because kids should go to sleep then Hi kids will stop transmission early. Let the parents be the ones to tell their kids to go to bed. Not HiTV.

By the way, the stations are now released. No smart card yet.
TV/Movies / Re: Hitv & It's Relevance In The Nigerian Broadcast Economy by Beeman(m): 3:54pm On Mar 20, 2007
guys,

I am quite disappointed at the kind of services rendered by Hitv. The promises were high but they are not living up to their promises. There is no dedicated movie channel. The ART Movies they promised is an arabic movie channel. The show arabic movies not Hollywood movies. What have I to do with arabic movies.

Their himix is rubish. The hiLife is more of a religious channel. No documentary channel, When I wake up in the middle of the night I don't have anything interesting to watch. No movies, No sports. 'Cos their screensaver is all you see. The only consistent channels are CNN, BBCworld, E, MTVBase and FoxSports.

HiNolly has been showing the same 4 or 5 movies since it started. Himix the same thing.

They also promised that billing will not start until all their stations are complete. But lo and behold, I was asked to insert my smart card today. All the stations are scrambled.

I wish I could sell the dish and decoder, and look for another satelite TV.

I think Hitv is a very welcome development. How can I subscribe. I have asked people around me and nobody seen to know where their office is. I need it badly
