Which skills are they looking for that the EH couldn't cater for? Stop deceiving yourselves please.. Firstgentleman1:
This is the reason why people with info fear to drop them. It is true that there are strong rumours of cancellation. You don't just dismiss that guy's claims like that. Besides, the corporation is even looking at offloading alot of the SS1 and SS2 guys into M6. This is because promotion is accelerated from SS6 to SS3... From SS2 and SS1 upwards, promotion drags. So you see people spending a lot of time in those two positions..
The GMD once mentioned that expertise they were looking for, they could not find it among the interviewed EHs. He mentioned that the corporation could not afford to hire EH and still go ahead to train them like GTs.
Dropping the info of cancellation here takes a whole lot of courage.. No one is happy about it and the prayer is that the corporation should have a change of heart. It will do a whole lot of good. Even in the midst of all these, it is the hope of the GTs that they will get to receive the EHs soon. 3 Likes |

They were also very quiet about the GT list before it was finally released. However, I agree that we should make deliberate efforts to put NNPC under pressure, let's move beyond just paying lip service to this thing. I am ready to do whatever it takes to ensure the EH component sees the light of day. Do we have anyone here who has strong ties to the media? we can also find ways of lobbying senators or reps to help raise it on the floor of the Senate. Guys, let's act please, let's move beyond Nairaland, we are EH, let's not keep shut while this NNPC mgt does what it wants. NNPC isn't their property, they owe us explanations. Let's spring into action now, we should show them why we are EH, and how creative we are in solving problems. Isn't that one of the major criteria for recruiting EH? Please let's make suggestions that we can act on immediately, let's come together at least for once. ![lipsrsealed](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/lipsrsealed.png) titigafar: Hello Guys, this should be my first comment here since the beginning of this journey.
Reading NNPC posts in the media since the list of the GTs were released, one would know that the EH aspect of the recruitment is intentionally cut out from their press releases.
I will advise EHs should devise corrdinated approach to asking the NNPC update on the EH recruitment.
It's looking like the EH aspect of the recruitment have been cancelled and only pressure from media or National Assembly would rekindle the our hope. 11 Likes |

Bro, is this submission based on some info you got, or is it your personal opinion based on the Covid 19 situation and crude oil prices? weoai: Like every other major corporation in the world, the NNPC is adjusting to modern day realities as regards cost management and staff optimization. The vacancies of 2016 obviously may not be valid in 2020, so do not expect all those spaces to still be available. This is the reason why the EH recruitment has experienced delays.
Also know that the corporation has decided to ensure Units determine who they recruit based on the expedient need for that personnel, thus cost of recruitment of EHs is bourne by the Unit recruiting, hence a seeming reluctance internally to bring in midlevel hires who would cost more and not likely deliver as immediately as expected (from past experience). I believe true sources can verify this claim...
We can only pray we are deemed expedient by our future line managers to warrant a call-up.
Keep the faith my people, it will end in praise.

T4kbaba:
In a bid to end speculations over its staff strength, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has disclosed that it has 6,621 Nigerians as its staff currently, both in its headquarters and across all its subsidiaries, division and offices nationwide.
The NNPC also revealed that the 6,621 individuals comprise its total staff strength as at April 20, 2020. This meant that the recently employed 1,050 fresh graduates where captured, as their employment was concluded, February 2020.
This was contained in a document cited by iBrandTV, on Thursday, in Abuja.
The NNPC has 13 divisions/Strategic Business Units nationwide. However, the NNPC was silent on the states of origin of the staff and the number of contract staff it currently engages in the discharge of its duties and operations.
The document, which is part of NNPC’s compliance to the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative’s (EITI) Open Data engagement, revealed that 81.7 per cent of the corporation’s workforce, comprising 5,410 individuals, were male, while 1,211 were women, representing 18.3 per cent of its total staff strength.
In addition, the document pointed out that the three moribund refineries — Kaduna, Port Harcourt and Warri refineries – have 1,898 staff, representing 28.7 per cent of NNPC Group’s total workforce. Bro, the report said, 6,621 comprise of it's total staff strength, it doesn't indicate that, that is the required staff strength of NNPC. Read it again bro.. In a bid to end speculation over it's staff strength, suddenly means they shouldn't recruit? Funny. Let me also take you up on the figures highlighted, I presume GTs are SS7 or 8? How come we have less than 1,050 on those levels, care to explain? You shouldn't just swallow everything you stumble across online, we are expected to make logical inferences and deductions, before arriving at certain conclusions. Cheers! T4kbaba:

It's as a result of the pandemic. When things pick up, demand will increase and the prices will gradually pick up. It makes sense that drilling operations shutdown, cause you can't keep producing without selling. SenatorJChris: With each passing day, my hope disintegrates. Nobody knows tomorrow but the future of the industry is not looking good at the moment. Over 60% of drilling crew are now facing redundancy. Oil giants like chevron, shell, conoil have all shut down drilling operations. It pisses me off when people act like they are being realistic and begin to give doomsday prophesies. Did you know that oil prices surged over the past 2 days from $24 to $30 today? Did you also hear that trump said the United States is going to intervene in the price wars cause at the end, the low prices affect everyone? Do you know that Russia will also have to come back to the negotiating table cause the free fall if it continues will cripple their economy? Do you know that the only thing that has slowed down and worsened this price war is the Covid 19. Everyone's attention is on eradicating this deadly virus, because of the uncertainty it brings. Let the GTs enjoy their victory, they laboured hard for it, if NNPC feels the need to change anything, they will inform them via the appropriate means of communication. As for the EH, we hope the oil price rises, so we can also be contacted. Let's not begin to spew negativity just to act enlightened. What we should be focused on is conquering this deadly virus. 10 new cases discovered today, I tell you it's getting scary, but we need to abide by the safety tips and minimise social engagements so we can get rid of this thing as soon as possible, and get back to normality.. Cheers! Feex: Congrats to all new GTs.
Prepare your mind for the following:
(1)The coronavirus will most likely affect resumption date. State govts across the nation are banning large gatherings and minimising physical contacts as much as possible. It is clear your orientation will be postponed.
(2) The problem is further compounded by the extremely low oil prices which have not even bottomed out yet. Nigeria is currently producing at a loss with the current prices, and we are not even able to sell our crude. No oil firm recruits during periods of low oil prices. NNPC boss has emphasized the need to cost cuts to.produce at current prices. Most companies fire or place employees on furlough. So the orientation will be moved to much later date when or if things stabilise.
(3) You are yet to receive official appointment letter. You have only received a notification of success. By law, no company is not legally bound to recruit any candidate that has not yet received an offer letter. Even with official letters, there has been several cases where govts or insitiutions withdraw offer letters even after resumption with no consequences. So the current case is even more precarious.
I therefore foresee a situation where the new GTs are put on reservation list for several months or years. A worse case scenario is that the recruitment eventually be cancelled or extremely streamlined. Forget sentiments, this is a real scenario right here.
I therefore ask all new GTs to hope and pray this crisis pass as soon as possible. The longer it stays, the less chances you will be recruited. 24 Likes 1 Share |

They can't convert EH automatically to SS5 upwards, it just doesn't make sense. If that is done, that means the contract staff will automatically become the bosses of those who are on SS4 or SS5. Let's hope for the best. shalom4eva:
And you think the contract staffs don't have the technical experience to handle such roles, why have they been working there even as operators and field engineers if they can't handle such roles. My take is that they will take some of them into EH and others into GT positions according to thier highest educational qualification |
