Hi bro, you are Eh, yeah?

successful100:
Word just got to me but I wouldn't wanna banter here. If you people only knew the politics that was played with this NNPC job you wouldn't look down on yourself cos you didn't get the APL. For those that didn't get APL trust me you did so well. it was just the will of God. Rather see it as a blessing in disguise. But All I have to say is, this is the most corrupt government ever in Nigeria. This regime is rotten to the core. Go pray for your country Nigeria. shocked

This is splendid news, I can only imagine how those who got the APL must be feeling right now, congratulations to you all. And to the GTs who didn't make it, I pray God blesses you guys with even better opportunities.

I keep saying this, I don't know where this baseless rumour emanated from. The internal recruitment news is laughable and defies common sense. There are also different levels of Contract staff, there is, direct Contract, there is contract, contract staff, and even contract contract contract staff, And forget all this noise we hear on this forum, most of these contract staff only grumble in silence, if they are found to cause any kind of issues or problems, they are immediately replaced.

Plus the company that handles the outsourced vacancies don't even want anyone to be made a full staff, cause that means the stream of funds from the individuals on contract would be closed. I have said it here before and I will say it again, no one makes the transition from contract to full staff automatically, not even in NNPC. You have to go through the process. Let's just be patient and pray we are among the successful candidates..

Gianluigizona:
Cancel the EH recruitment?? Ok.

But internally recruit to fill the supposed vacancies for EH?? That's laughable..

In NAPIMS for instance you don't see contract staff performing engineering roles. Most of them work as secretary to a Manager or at most Secretary to the GM in Ops Divisions. Some are just there as errand boys (make photocopies, help buy food, help go to the bank and pay visa fees, and so on). How then do you recruit a contract staff with 10 years secretarial experience to perform a Reservoir Engineer role just because he has been in Petroleum Engineering Department for 10 years??

And plz don't tell me about training.

If NNPC go this route, Oh well! Let's say the inefficiency just got a promotion.

Dear EH,
For you to have qualified for an EH position means you're employed. You may not necessarily have it good at your current workplace but you're gainfully employed nonetheless. Plz face your work, get your WES, write IELTS, Take some courses & certifications, Improve yourself and look someplace else not NNPC.

Ciao

To all EHs, please be informed that the rumors of the cancellation of the EH process has really gained ground. Let's come together and brainstorm on how to stop this injustice. Those guys can't just play with us as if we are primary school pupils. The earlier the better.

Firstly this is a highly insensitive thing to say, secondly, you can't possibly encourage nepotism and mediocrity just to favour people because they are already part of the system. The recruitment was open to both internal and external candidates, if external people merit the positions more, they ought to be given. Anyways, not disregarding any info, but I'm quite sure the EH category will come to a conclusive end..

Just to add this, we all know that Mele was a GGM when the requirement commenced, as we all also know, his son took part in the ongoing recruitment, but unfortunately, the Son didn't make it through the CBT stage initially. Mele, tried to lobby, but HR stood firm. However, on getting nominated as the new GMD, HR then told him his son had be reconsidered, it was stated that Mele wasn't buying it and felt if his son could be reconsidered without due process, only God knows the amount of changes the list could have gone through, that was why he initially wanted to scrap the entire recruitment, cause he questioned the integrity of the people in charge of the process. Yes, the cancellation rumours were true, and this was one of the main reasons..

Conclusively, many people here come across different info, but your ability to manage it and not disseminate in ways that come as insensitive is of utmost importance. If I had come here to write about the cancellation rumours at the time it was rife, it could have been the truth, but I would be highly insensitive. Plus the cancellation wasn't conclusive. Sometimes, it's better to give positive feedback, and when not entirely sure of the negative, you could just exercise a bit of caution and make sure the info has gone through all possible tests and certified to be the truth.

I wish everyone the very best, and I pray all deserving people get the APL. Cheers!

moogoogaipan:
Don't let us decieve ourselves, my opinion is that a large % of the EH would still need some form of training. So, why train/hire new EH, when we have EH in our backyard that are delft with the system already.
So, Baru himself was complicit in the present EH woes... A pity ....

You guys just defy logic everytime. So there will be mass recruitment to fill for those that will be retiring, but they only want to select 500 from this batch of about 9,000 applicants? Ok, NNPC isn't that incompetent.

NwanyiOkpa:

Actually, there will be a mass retirement.
There are so many old people in the system
This GT and experienced recruitment was done so that there will be people to work for those on retirement so their benefits can be paid. Saying there will be mass retirement is 100% the initial plan.

PS: I got the information even before this recent recruitment started.

But people will still doubt me like Kemi Olunloyo.

This sounds legit, but a quick question though. For someone who claims to be EH, how come you spend more time on the DPR thread, as opposed to just 2 posts on the NNPC that you have a vested interest in? Just curious..

maluga:
Initially the EH was not designed to follow federal character, both list were compiled for GT nd EH but the go ahead was only given for GTs ( this is according to NNPC sources) while in FCC they said in February they will discuss the issue of EH with NNPC and they will be called. Recently the rumours of the cancellation of the EH were everywhere and there was element of truth in it, but as of now the EH is kept in view (not cancelled), after they are through with GT the picture will be clearer as to when they will be called. I am EH myself.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves.. Because you chose to believe the story doesn't mean it's entirely true.. I really don't like to put everything out here for reasons best known to me.. I'll make this as brief as I can. Let's just say I know a lady, we all grew up together, we are what you'll call family friends. Last week, my own immediate elder sister called me and told me about how the lady I mentioned earlier was keen on buying a slot in DPR for one of her younger brothers, someone I also know. She said the slot was available for 4m, she also talked about FIRS, etc. CBN was going for about 5m or so.

However, NNPC wasn't even in the mix, there was nothing form NNPC, no slots for sale at least. Anyone telling you that he or she got in through the backdoor at NNPC, at this moment is probably pulling your legs. However, you can choose to believe whatever suits you. Cheers!

trilobite:

It's not funny!! She shouldn't have told him in the first place. He is the reason why people use "na God do am" to answer questions on their success.

I advice other backdoor recruits here to do the same.
I can't wait to hear the actual story of this recruitment. cheesy cheesy that of the paramilitaries is beyond hilarious!!!! grin grin

"Na God do am" indeed!!! God help our country. May our kids not participate in this madness!!!

In as much as this article beams the search light on the recruitment, but the journalist here is ridiculously lazy. A quick visit to Nairaland could have helped in ascertaining that, the interview was actually concluded on the 11th of July, as opposed to 6th, and that the closest figure to the actual amount of candidates interviewed is less than 10,000 as opposed to 40,000. On the bright side, at least they asked NNPC How Far?

Wow, just took sometime off work to check if perhaps Apl has dropped, only to stumble on this great piece. I feel your pain bro, and I can only pray that God blesses you so that you can care for your younger ones and aged parents. I also sincerely pray that you get this NNPC Apl, I pray I get it too. Remain blessed bro, Cheers!

A1grade:
Bro the situation is only in God's hands. If I play my record for you, hmmmmm. Being from a family that is struggling, my parents managed to see me through school. After graduation in 2007 with a 2.1, all hopes were high and everyone was looking up to me because I was the first child of a family of 6.

I have gone for interviews in almost all the companies in Nigeria, Shell, Chevron, Mobil, Total, Saipem etc and nothing still happened.

In 2013, I got a job in a bank. In fact I was given a staff ID and was sent to a training school. But at the end of the training school, three of us were replaced by three people who joined us midway into the training school. Mehn, you needed to see the way I was crying at the bank's headquarters, begging them to reconsider their decision, that I did excellently well during the school. In fact my class mates in the school couldn't believe their eyes that I was dropped, cos I was one of the best, if not the best in the training school, even as an engineering graduate. But I picked myself up and moved on.

Toward the end of 2013, I applied for the Nlng graduate recruitment. I passed the first and second tests as well as the assessment centre. In fact after the assessment centre, regret mails were sent to those who were not successful and I wasn't sent any. In fact the mail I received says that they would get back to me pretty soon. Boy I was so excited. I thought that was the last straw that would break the camel's back. But lo and behold, after about 2years of waiting, they sent invites for medicals. I wasn't sent. The mail they sent me says " though your performance was commendable, however we regret to blah blah blah". That was the worst time of my life. I became so devasted that I refused to eat. In fact I swore that I was not going to serve God again, that he doesn't care about me. It was terrible. How I managed to pick myself after that still baffles me today.

Since then I had become reluctant to apply for jobs. I later got a job in a servicing company but some of us were dropped after some time, cos of the fact that the company lost some of its contracts during the periods of upheavals in the oil and gas industry.

Now I am teaching in a private school, preparing candidates for IELTS, SAT and TOEFL. Yes I make some money but it's hardly enough cos of the responsibilities I have on my shoulders. My parents are aged and my younger ones who are in school are all dependent on me. What is more? I am married with 3 kids.

Sometimes I feel so frustrated to the extent that I feel life is not worth living. All my classmates, when they see me, the don't believe I am still on this level, cos I was always at the top of my class and I this kind of versatile guy who can do well in any discipline.

However, I still believe I will make. I am still struggling to improve on myself. As someone who is knowledgeable in production and well engineering, I have done certifications. And I believe that God will one day pick up my call. I am also an Nnpc hopeful.

So guys, learn from me. If I am still kicking and hopeful, please don't give up. It shall be alright. Although I am still pained at heart that I can't take care of my parents who deprived themselves of comfort just to send me to school. People laughed at them for not wearing good clothes. But I can't care for them the way I should. My heart still weeps bitterly. But I still remain positive anyways.

It is the reality on ground. There is a process for conversion, you have to go through it. If it wasn't, you won't have countless contract staff working for over 25 years without conversion..

The reason organisations recruit from time to time is to bring in, intelligent and vibrant employees with fresh ideas, it's not just for the sake of recruiting. Why do you think the Corporation has somewhat not attained the desired or required heights that's expected? The answer is obvious. The GMD knows this, that's why he embarked on massive restructuring across the corporation.

And, there are certain parameters that qualify one as EH, it's not just years of experience on the job, this issue with Contract staff, has always been there, no serious minded O&G would convert contract staff based on sentiments, not even NNPC. A big bro who works in the IT Department of NNPC joined as a contract staff, and he sat for the exams 3 times, he wasn't lucky on the first 2 occasions, but fortune smiled on him the 3rd time. There is a reason vacancies for Experienced Hire, were thrown open to the public, that's because NNPC wants the best they can get.

Lastly, fresh and innovative ideas are what keep organisations in business and ahead of competition, that's why bringing in New EH is always paramount to the survival and progress of world-class organisations. If the contract staff want to be made permanent staff, let them go through the recruitment process. This entitlement mindset is why NNPC has still not been able to achieve it's vision of becoming a Worldclass O&G Corporation.

Tjayelbee:
As it stands, there seems to be a superior argument in favor of Contract Staff within the Mgt circle. This is for a number of reasons amongst which is the fact that they already have requisite hands-on experience/training over the years. So, Why hire new EHs when you have already expended resources to train Contract Staff?

As such, they’re considering proceeding with GTs and shelving EH applicants. No final resolution has been made yet as they’re still weighing the options and having meetings.

In the end, there might just be some middle-ground agreement.. take from here and there.

May the odds be in our favor!

N.B - they seem to have more connections than us, if at all we do. Lol

Absolutely correct.

For those that are source specialist.
1. Are you aware that there was a meeting in Lagos yesterday in respect to releasing of APL
2. Are you aware that nothing is delaying the release of the APL except the GMD himself.
APL would drop this December as another meeting is expecting this coming week to finalize the process.
The group GMD is not happy that some people were able to manipulate some names in the list to be release, but there is nothing he can do about it. i have read from page 1 till this very last page and refused to comment because some won't appreciate it.
Mind you, i am not an applicant but my spouse is, for the EH.
Expect APL in December

Your sarcasm is unnecessary, not every info you get needs to be shared. You will learn this with time. And, the info I got has not been shared on this thread, but like I said, all that is in the past. The recruitment has moved beyond that stage. And it's funny how you ignore the crux of write up, and pick out an issue that was fleetingly highlighted to further buttress my point.

MI6:
Thank sir. As per first hand info you got about delays, we also got the info. One of our seniors - Cavalier shared with us. Sharing further details would be great but not necessary especially if your sauce is “stale” and needs to be “microwaved” to make it palatable. Thanks anyway!

What you are saying doesn't mean the recruitment will be cancelled, you actually said the Corporation may decide to conduct another recruitment exercise,
once the ongoing one is concluded, the key word here is "Concluded". Which states your source agrees that it will be concluded, or, is there something I'm missing, or it's just semantics? Plus, I am also EH, and I got 1st hand info about why the whole process was delayed, but i won't just come here and post stuff, because my years of experience has taught me how to manage info, and I also understand the delicate nature of issues concerning this recruitment. Thank God all that was sorted, and Napolitano's claim also gave credence to the fact that the recruitment will be concluded soon. The MD himself stated it during the town hall meeting with staff of NNPC.

My bro, the difference between you and a GT, is your years of experience, kindly make it count. No Pun intended. Cheers!

Originakalokalo:

If you really knew me back then in 2011, you will know that I wouldn't speak without evidence.

I decided to reply you because of some level of maturity i sensed in you.

I dont know much....

But what I know in good authority is that a new recruitment may come soon.

I am EH and a hopeful in this recruitment....we're all expectant. However, the corporation may decide to do another recruitment after concluding this one.... (Prayers can change decisions)...

No amount of insults or expectations from this forum can stop it....if they choose to.

I say again.....A new recruitment may be imminent......the guy is not far from the truth.....

i feel your pain bro, I applied for a vacancy in the EH category that requires a minimum of 9 years experience. I have been somewhat fortunate some may say to rise to the level of a manager, but everyday i wake up, i feel empty and not so fulfilled. People say to me, in this economy, you should be grateful. Perhaps, i should be. But the truth is, i don't enjoy what i do anymore, coupled with the fact that the person i report to, (a director) wants me to get fired. She has made it her life's mission. I resigned earlier in the year, but my MD refused to accept my resignation, telling me i was too valuable to the organisation, but on the other hand, my immediate boss, still keeps making my life miserable. From, countering instructions i give to my team, to reporting every minute error, to talking down at members of my team. Anyone associated with me becomes her enemy.

Note, I'm not necessarily that laid back when people come for me, but her father is a major shareholder, so, how do i win this war? Only God can vindicate me.. I resolved to leave, but my MD refused to let me go, and in all honesty, it's not smart to leave without having a back up plan. This NNPC recruitment came at the right time and was meant to provide succour, but alas this same Nigerian factor rears it's ugly head again. I may be working, and i may have been able to build my career to an enviable point within this period, but let me tell you, i am even more desperate towards this NNPC recruitment than some GT hopefuls here. Even, with all my life experiences, i may have lost hope in this recruitment process, and by extension, the country too. I just spoke to my fiance and i have resolved to relocate to another country, perhaps i should have done that earlier.

I am pretty sure, some people may also be experiencing something similar to mine, or even worse. Some people may not understand what i am talking about now, but always pray and hope that wherever you find yourself (work place) you are surrounded by people who have your back, and that your superiors are amiable people. I will still implore everyone to keep hope alive. All we seek for, both GT and EH is to provide better lives for ourselves and loved ones, and i pray God answers all our prayers. God bless you all. Cheers!

PS: Before anyone asks. The reason she doesn't like my guts is because my MD didn't think she was qualified to be a director, and would rather have me as the Director. But he had no choice but to give in to powers beyond him. i guess the idea of having me as her boss made me enemy number 1, Lol. Apologies for the mini epistle, hope I didn't bore you guys? God bless.
