Thanks so much for the detailed explanation.
It's really helpful.
Appreciate.
Skillsnigeria:

For dry cell battery, I will advise you to buy India brand like quanta, monbat, full river e.t.c or American brand like trojan e.t.c if you can afford it. As for panel, you can try new technology jinko panel e.t.c or any panel of your choice, even me self, I use focus panel and it has be serving me. for inverter, you can try pure sine wave of growatt, luminous or Chinese version suder or sooer. You can start with any inverter for a start, make sure it has good reviews before you buy it. If not that you want to be using nepa and solar for charging, I would have advise you to buy 2 330watt panel for faster charging through sun.

The engineer didn't provide the details of the brands he quoted for. He became insultive upon further questioning.
Can you please specify some recommended brands for each item so that I can get them on my own and look for someone else to install?
I'm looking at 1kw hybrid inverter + one 330w mono solace panel grade AA + one 200 AH dry cell battery , I believe that's all?
The installer will get the wires & accessories.
Thanks in anticipation of your support.

Thanks so much for your prompt reply.

Below is the package I plan to get as advised by an engineer and based on your clarifications:
One 330watt Solar panel =110k
Solar Charge Contoller. Not required
1 kw Hybrid Inverter. = 90k
Wires & Accessories = 50k
One dry cell Battery. = 150k
Do you have any advise on this quotation whether to proceed.
Or can you advise on specific brands recommended for each of the items?
Appreciate your input

Just get a generator twice the capacity of the inverter, it will charge it very well
Properties / Re: How I Managed Light Situation In My Apartment (DIY Guide) by BigK: 2:10pm On Apr 18, 2022
Thanks the clarifications.
I was told that the generators cannot be used to charge hybrid inverters. Is that true?
Skillsnigeria:

.
The two options are okay, if you can afford hybrid inverter with mppt CC, you can go for it. But as for me, I prefer separate inverter and charge controller. Because when the hybrid inverter has problem, I will need to repair it or buy a new one if the problem is serious ( which means I can't use my solar during that time) and also hybrid inverters are not cheap, but with separate inverter and CC, is very rare for the two of them to fail at once. If one of them fail I can easily buy a cheap one I can use pending the time I will gather some fund to buy better one. If money is not a problem, you can go for hybrid inverter
Properties / Re: How I Managed Light Situation In My Apartment (DIY Guide) by BigK: 10:02pm On Apr 06, 2022
Please, is it true that generator doesn't charge a hybrid inverter?
Also, what's the experience with your hybrid inverter so far?
What are the watch outs?

Politics / Opposition To Sukuk: Can Is Playing ‘dog In The Manger’ by BigK: 9:19pm On Sep 21, 2017

OPPOSITION TO SUKUK: CAN IS PLAYING ‘DOG IN THE MANGER’
by Professor Ishaq Akintola
21st September, 2017

PRESS RELEASE:

OPPOSITION TO SUKUK: CAN IS PLAYING ‘DOG IN THE MANGER’

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) issued a press statement yesterday to protest against the Federal Government’s first ever sukuk (noninterest lease assets facilities) which was announced last week. The statement which was dated 19th September, 2017 was signed by CAN’s General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Musa Asake.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) considers CAN’s position demeaning. It is not only infantile, petty and overbearing but also spiteful and egocentric.

Our position is based on the fact that CAN has all it needs in Nigeria today because the whole system is Christo-Western: education, the judicial system, the economy, everything. Muslims who were deprived of all their Islamic landmarks and ways of life by the colonialists are constrained to start the struggle all over again by demanding Shari’ah, use of hijab in schools, Islamic banks, sukuk, etc. It must be made clear ab initio that Nigerian Muslims had all these before the advent of the British colonialists who changed everything in favour of Christianity.

There is nothing the Muslims are demanding now that the Christians don’t have already on a platter of gold. It must also be stated that the Christians do not need the things that the Muslims are asking for. Why should somebody keep blocking his brother from getting his own share when he already has his own?

The fable of the dog in the manger is quite didactic in this regard. A British dog in the 13th century was fed with meat until its belly was full. Then the owner took hay (dry grass which only the horse needed and it is useless to the dog) and gave it to the horse. The dog had eaten and it was now the horse’s turn. Surprisingly, the dog started barking. It jumped on the hay and kept the horse at bay.

‘Dog in the manger’ has since become an English idiom. We must now ask CAN why it is playing dog in the manger. Shari‘ah is not for them but CAN screamed until the roofs nearly came down. OIC does not hurt any Christian but CAN shouted to high heavens. Hijab is for female Muslims alone but violent envy pushed CAN to shout itself hoarse. Islamic bank is for Muslims alone but CAN labeled it Islamisation of Nigeria. Can CAN give us a list of those who have been Islamised since Islamic banking started in the country? CAN leadership has become a professional false alarmist, a dog in the manger.

To reject the existence of sukuk pari passu with Islamic banking is like demanding that the agricultural sector should operate without bringing harvests to the markets or that hospitals should exist without pharmacies and laboratories. Having fought rigorously and bitterly against the establishment of the Islamic bank in Nigeria without success, our Christian neighbours seek to strangulate Islamic banks in the country.

We are constrained to ask, “How Christian is the Christian Association of Nigeria?” Every good Christian wants to be like Jesus and he turns this idea of emulating Jesus to a song. We have no doubt that CAN leaders also sing the song. But how sincere are they about emulating Jesus? Jesus says, “Love your neighbour according to thy self” (Mark 12:31) but CAN leaders do the exact opposite.

There are lots of good Christians in Nigeria and we interact very well but why must the petty ones always lead them? They are a belligerent lot, warlike and aggressive. Have they ever seen Muslims opposing a benefit going to Christians? We did not protest when you started going to Jerusalem even though we know that it is not mandatory for Christians. You enjoy Western banking system, Western education, common law, etc without any protest from us. Why is it that CAN always cries foul each time we seek parity?

CAN’s claim that sukuk is unconstitutional is false, baseless and misleading. How can laws made by the Federal Government be ultra vires? CAN is misleading

Can I read it anytime on Friday? including after Ishai?
In Islam, we have the Night before the day. The day ends by Magrib. What we refer to as Friday night is actually Saturday night. So, try to recite before Magrib on Friday.

Nairaland / General / Fashola Says Protest Against Move To Impeach Him Unnecessary by BigK: 10:15am On Feb 02, 2010
By Kemi Obasola, Mudiaga Affe, James Azania and Simon Utebor, Published: Tuesday, 2 Feb 2010

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), on Monday said that the protest by some groups against attempts to impeach him from office was not necessary.

The governor made this declaration when he spoke with his supporters who had earlier protested in front of state House of Assembly calling on the lawmakers to discontinue moves to investigate the governor for alleged financial improprieties.

The protesters, under the aegis of ‘Movement for Good Governance’ and ‘Lovers of Raji Fashola Forum’, started their protest from Adebola House in Opebi and walked through two major streets before terminating their rally at the state House of Assembly where they made their grievances known to the Speaker of the House, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, who received them.

The state House of Assembly had on Thursday set up a six-man ad-hoc committee to investigate the allegations of financial recklessness levelled against the state government by a group, the True Face of Lagos. The allegations were published as an advertorial in The PUNCH last Thursday.

The committee was set up after a member representing Alimosho Constituency II, Mr. Onibiyo Adelabu, under Matters of Urgent Public Importance drew the attention of his colleagues to the advertorial and claimed that he had spoken with the advertisers.

When the protesters got to the State House, the President of LORAF, Dr. Abiodun Olugbenro, told the governor that, “We discovered that there are distractions. We went to the state House of Assembly to find out if the members want to conduct investigation.

“And we told them that they should start from themselves because the advertorial wrongly accused the state government and the House as well. They should set up an independent panel to conduct the investigation. We are here to tell you that we are behind you.‘

In his response, Fashola said any protest on moves to investigate any allegation of financial impropriety levelled against him would be unnecessary because the lawmakers were also concerned citizens of the state who would treat any matter that comes to them in the best interest of the state.

He said, “I left my home early this morning to make a broadcast to all of you. I did so because I am concerned about our common good. I am aware that some people are planning to use this peaceful rally to take advantage of your state. My obligation is to protect every one of you from havoc and nobody’s life is worth this office to me. I am therefore renewing my appeal to you that a rally in my support is not necessary.

“Our country is where it is today because for 50 years we have not successfully transferred power. This model is succeeding, but because there are no precedents, nowhere to turn to. We must learn new rules and we must translate them to all parts of the country.

“Members of the state House of Assembly were elected the same way you elected me. I assure you that they are as concerned and they will act in your best interest. Do not allow the fifth columnists to destroy what we have built.”

Earlier, Olugbenro said they were at the House of Assembly to hear from the Speaker what the issues were all about, adding that the allegations in the advertorial also pointed accusing fingers at the lawmakers.

Responding, the Speaker, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, said the House would conduct a public investigation into the issues raised in the advertorial, saying that members were interested in clearing the names of the lawmakers and that of Fashola from the allegations.

Ikuforiji said no external interference would be entertained during the course of investigations.

He added that the Assembly was constitutionally empowered to do its work. He told the protesters that the House had not commenced impeachment proceedings against the governor, adding “The Assembly is the only place to hear the truth about this matter. The House is working hard to defend the interest of Lagosians and to clear the names of the governor and the lawmakers.‘

“When the truth emerges, everybody will be happy,” he said.

The state Chairman of the Action Congress, Chief Henry Ajomale, who was also at the House of Assembly, said there was no move to impeach the governor, adding that both the executive and legislative arms of the state government were performing well to the admiration of Lagosians.

Meanwhile, a group, the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders, has called on Lagos State government officials fingered in the allegations of corruption to defend themselves in the interest of the state.

The Executive Chairman of CACOL, Mr. Debo Adeniran, said during a press conference in Lagos on Monday that there should be no cover-ups.

CACOL, which has been active in a few high profile anti-graft cases, including the prosecution of former Delta State Governor James Ibori and the electoral tribunal case in Osun, also said in its statement, “A point of serious consideration is the fact that about 65 per cent of the fund involved in the alleged financial recklessness, mismanagement, gross constitutional violation and abuse of office is from the people’s tax.

“This fact reinforced the urgent need for accountability in governance. Whatever work done must be proportional to the amount of resources committed into it.

“The organisation has hitherto held the Lagos State in high esteem and would not want to jump into any conclusion on any allegation without availing those alleged the opportunity to defend themselves.

“We have waited patiently for official rebuttal of the allegation to be published by either of the alleged arms of the government with no result. Neither did the former governor, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu deny the allegation that he bribed each member of the House of Assembly to sweep the matter under the carpet.”

The Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, surprised guests present at the Musom Centre for the launching of the book of Sir Lanihun Ajayi at the MusoN Centre in Lagos.
The book titled: “Nigeria, Africa’s failed asset?” attracted many important dignitaries, intellectuals and some governors.

The argument by discussants centered on whether or not the colonial masters laid the foundation for the problems Nigeria is currently facing. Many argued that the British loved the North and that was why it gave more than 5o percent of the National Assembly seats to the North at independence.
Sanusi, however, stole the show when he spoke. His speech was anchored on the plank that the British and Nigerian rulers are responsible for the state of the situation Nigeria finds itself today.
Below is his unedited speech.

“Let me start by saying that I am Fulani (laughter). My grandfather was an Emir and therefore I represent all that has been talked about this afternoon. Sir Ajayi has written a book. And like all Nigerians of his generation, he has written in the language of his generation.
“My grandfather was a Northerner, I am a Nigerian. The problem with this country is that in 2009, we speak in the language of 1953. Sir Olaniwun can be forgiven for the way he spoke, but I can not forgive people of my generation speaking in that language.

“Let us go into this issue because there are so many myths that are being bandied around.
Before colonialism, there was nothing like Northern Nigeria. Before the Sokoto Jihad, there was nothing like the Sokoto caliphate. The man from Kano regard himself as Abakani. The man from Zaria was Abazasage. The man from Katsina was Abakani. The kingdoms were at war with each other. They were Hausas, they were Muslims, they were killing each other.

“The Yoruba were Ijebu, Owo, Ijesha, Akoko, Egba. When did they become one? When did the North become one? You have the Sokoto Caliphate that brought every person from Adamawa to Sokoto and said it is one kingdom. They now said it was a Muslim North.
“The Colonialists came, put that together and said it is now called the Northern Nigeria. Do you know what happened? Our grand fathers were able to transform to being Northerners. We have not been able to transform to being Nigerians. The fault is ours.

Tell me, how many governors has South West produced after Awolowo that are role models of leadership? How many governors has the East produced like Nnamdi Azikiwe that can be role models of leadership? How Many governors in the Niger Delta are role models of leadership? Tell me. There is no evidence statistically that any past of this country has produced good leaders.

You talk about Babangida and the economy. Who were the people in charge of the economy during Babangida era? Olu Falae, Kalu Idika Kalu. What state are they from in the North?
“We started the banking reform; the first thing I heard was that in Urobo land, that there will be a course of the ancestors. I said they (ancestors) would not answer. They said why? I said how many factories did Ibru build in Urobo land? So, why will the ancestors of the Urobo people support her?

“We talk ethnicity when it pleases us. It is hypocrisy. You said elections were rigged in 1959, Obasanjo and Maurice Iwu rigged election in 2007. Was it a Southern thing? It was not.
“The problem is: everywhere in this country, there is one Hausa, Ibo, Yoruba and Itshekiri man whose concern is how to get his hands on the pile and how much he can steal.
Whether it is in the military or in the civilian government, they seat down, they eat together. In fact, the constitution says there must be a minister from every state.

“So, anybody that is still preaching that the problem of Nigeria is Yoruba or Hausa or Fulani, he does not love Nigeria. The problem with Nigeria is that a group of people from each and every ethnic tribe is very selfish. The poverty that is found in Maiduguri is even worse than any poverty that you find in any part of the South. The British came for 60 years and Sir Ajayi talked about few numbers of graduates in the North (two at independence). What he did not say was that there was a documented policy of the British when they came that the Northerner should not be educated. It was documented. It was British colonial policy. I have the document. I have published articles on it. That if you educate the Northerner you will produce progressive Muslim intellectuals of the type we have in Egypt and India. So, do not educate them. It was documented. And you say they love us (North).

“I have spent the better part of my life to fight and Dr. (Reuben) Abati knows me. Yes, my grandfather was an Emir. Why was I in the pro-democracy movement fighting for June 12? Is (Moshood) Abiola from Kano? Why am I a founding director of the Kudirat Initiative for Nigerian Development (KIND)?
“There are good Yoruba people, good Igbo people, good Fulani people, good Nigerians and there are bad people everywhere. That is the truth.
“Stop talking about dividing Nigeria because we are not the most populous country in the world. We have all the resources that make it easy to make one united great Nigeria. It is better if we are united than to divide it.
“Every time you talk about division, when you restructure, do you know what will happen? In Delta, Area, the people in Warri will say Agbor, you don’t have oil. When was the Niger Delta constructed as a political enlity? Ten years ago, the Itshekiris were fighting the Urobos. Isn’t that what was happening? Now they have become Niger Delta because they have found oil. After, it will be, if you do not have oil in your village then you can not share our resources.

“There is no country in the world where resources are found in everybody’s hamlet. But people have leaders and they said if you have this geography and if we are one state, then we have a responsibility for making sure that the people who belong to this country have a good nature.
“So, why don’t you talk about; we don’t have infrastructure, we don’t have education, we don’t have health. We are still talking about Fulani. Is it the Fulani cattle rearer or is anybody saying there is no poverty among the Fulani?”, he said

THIS IS A THOUGHT FOR ALL PATRIOTIC NIGERIANS.
