considering to add Infinity to the list.
heard some roumours before, but just had a phonecall to confirm.
they've been dropped by the biggest importer in South Africa, bad news when big guys don't want to sell your brand anymore.
Not sure bout other countries yet.

@ bababuff

i'm well familiar with the industry in europe and usa and speak after talking to many dealers who came running. I'm not selling anything in this post, but if you feel like buying, maybe i can help wink

anyway, like i said, this is for info and long term. they won't go bust in the next day and who knows how nigerian market will recover from head offices' failure.

here is some more info:

Kicker: smaller territories either doing very well (=dealer is good and knows his market) like in Malta or close down like in Cyprus. big territories are stugling to compete, mainly with GroundZero and VIBE or FLI as competitors
Focal: Germany is European playground for car audio. German Focal GmbH is now re-named and fully operating as VIBE GmbH. Focal out.
Alpine is down, i don't have the details, but i'v heard from one of their guys that sales have been dropping for month
Pioneer: same as alpine
Fusion: barely even present in UK after about a year ago EDGE replaced it in most stores/dealers. they've put out a press releas about how it's time to return to home land (new zealand), but we all know its because they were making loss everywhere else.
JBL: has let go of senior employees due to cuts (due to losses), recruited by VIBE in UK and Metra Electronics in USA (who are the biggest car audio players in their respective countries)
Magnat: main distributor in Italy (Audio X Plus, major player) dropped them and took EDGE

i'm not saying right now this immediate moment they have issues in Naija. it's very posible that individual shops are still doing well and that is usually because the owners are good with their clietns.
but the companies itself aren't great at the moment and are globally suffering. when the company suffering, they'll fail to support their clients.
so let's say pioneer has it's global quaters and they have trouble.
from their global quaters they supply to an importer in Lagos.
that importer holds stock and sells to dealers in Nigeria.
those dealers have shops all over the place.
you buy from the shop.

if there is a problem with global office, the first to feel it is the importer. but he maybe has some stock, so no one notices a thing. the next one is the dealer. but he also may have some stock. the next one is you who goes to shop. if the dealer don't get the support from importer: your are in will not get what you came for. if the importer don't get support from the global office: dealer is in trouble (and then you).

so you see, it's not gonna fall in 1 day. but you don't buy a car for 1 day and if you invest a lot of $$ in making it sound good: you want it to last. that is why i'm warning you about issues that are going on. it's just a warning. feel free to do what you do, but if in half a year or one year or maybe even a couple of years, your system breaks down and no one can help you: don't say i didn't warn you smiley! don't be scared to try new growing brands that are coming to the market and are doing well.

HI PEEPS

I'm trying to extablish a new buziness in Naija and I am really struggling to convince people my products are good. Being that I'm not actually there and living in UK, I can't start walking around and talking to people. So help me out.

I want to send free product catalogues to Naija's finest car shops, car/car audio importers and dealers and whoever else can sell large quantity of car audio products e.g. speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers and so on. Products I sell are not really big in Nigeria, but big everywhere else (Europe, USA, Australia, Japan etc.etc.)

So I'm trying to get people interested. it's too expensive and really impractical to send samples, but I can send you original catalogues and if you are interested we can talk business.

If you are interested or know of someone who does business in cars and car audio, pls send me:
name of company/shop and name of owner
full postal address
if possible:email or phone number
what they do: cars, tuning, garage, etc.

BIG THANK YOU!

I keep hearing and reading about these so called ultra successful brands that everyone shoud buy if they want to upgrade the audio system of their cars.

Well, here is an advice from people in industry. insiders if you want. these companies are doing bad, real bad. so steer clear from their products. if they fail: you'll be f***** = no warranty, no replacement, no service.

globally they are going down:

Kicker: loosing territory all over Europe
Focal: main distributor closed and went to sell VIBE audio (British brand, see new post from me some time soon)
Alpine is down,
Pioneer in terrible sitaution.
Fusion was kicked out some Europen countries last year and replaced by EDGE and FLI (from the makers of VIBE)
JBL is the same (a big British company recruited senior JBL employees from UK as the US based company pull support for European deployment because the sistuation is bad for them in the USA. They have made their business 75% smaller in USA – moved from 5 offices to just one)
Magnat: main distributor in Italy dropped them and took EDGE (UK brand)

if you know people who are selling this: warn them about this or tell them to contact me. i'll be happy to assist.

waiting for you comments peeps!
Business / Re: Why Is Solar Power Not Commonly Used In Nigeria? by blankaw: 4:40pm On Feb 25, 2010
patience my friends. 10 years ago mobile was a luxe thing, now it's everywhere. in 10 years time solar will be much more common, although i don't doubt not everywhere as yet. too much money is pumped into 'traditional' energy markets, and no big company will waste away all those investments by focusing solely on process of solar.
but on the brighter side: the more people buy it, the more common and competitive it becomes. the cheaper it gets.

Business To Business / Car Audio: Container Load From Uk's Number 1 Car Audio Manufacturer by blankaw: 4:24pm On Feb 25, 2010
We are a British car audio manufacturer looking to bring our products into Nigerian markets.
we would like to ship a container load of goods of one of our entry level brands: FLI. for information on products check out: www.fliaudio.co.uk
We are also producers of VIBE audio:number 1 UK audio brand (www.vibeaudio.co.uk) and our products are avaliable in over 40 countries worldwide (among which USA, all of Europe, Russia, South Africa, Australia etc.etc).
Our products are best known for their looks and quality, we have less than 1% failure rate and have won many awards. Please take a look at the website.

We are looking at shipping some of our FLI products (mainly active subwoofer boxes and speakers) to Nigeria if right buyer will present himself.
Be assured of competitive pricing: we are the source, you will not find it anywhere else. If you are able to guarantee repetative business, we can potentially consider marketing support in form of free marketing materials supplied with shipment (e.g. catalogues, t-shirts, pens etc as well as dealer support packs).

Let me know if you have any questions.
Business To Business / Looking For Business Partner by blankaw: 9:36pm On Nov 23, 2009
I'm looking for a business partner to start a venture together in adult market. It will require some investment, mainly in stock you will sell (think around $1000-$5000). I have a great plan but need reliable partner who will be my ears and eyes and knows the territory well. You must be openminded about things and be tolerant of people with other views and preferences.

This is a long term opportunity only. If you're only interested in making few bucks on the side, I am not the right person for that.

If you are interested, email me to e.yevgenyevna@googlemail.com and tell me a little more about yourself. consider this a very formal proposal, so I need to at least know your name, gender, age, what background you have in business and education.

Nairaland / General / Re: What Are Your Views On Homosexuality? by blankaw: 8:49pm On Nov 20, 2009
tensor777 i don't know you, don't know your background, but you out to understand how stupid your comment sound! yes, children tend to take on moral values from their parents and do what is considered normal in their family. in broad sense. so if your family values are about respect to others, love and care, chances are you will grow up looking for relationship where you can cultivate those values. it has nothing to do with your physical and emotional attraction (although freud disagrees saying you will marry your 'parent', anyway, it's a whole different discussion).

based on your remarks, i can see your values are not in respect or understanding. you condemn what you don't know. do some reading son. knowledge is the light. go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexual. dude, ANIMALS DO IT!!!

being gay is not a contagious thing. yes, you are born with gender but what about people who are born with both reproductive organs are you going to accuse them of being immoral just because you don't understand it? homosexuality is simply an attraction. attraction to a person of same sex, not just for the sex, for their personality. if you are born a boy and you like other boys, bless you, go out and find yourself a man and be happy together.

tensor777, you should live and let live. maybe you are the one from abused family full of hate and trying to express that hate towards people you don't understand. go read on about it, maybe you will understand, there is no difference between any gay person and you. we are all human.

stop being ignorant, it's dumb remarks like yours that keep stupidity alive.
Nairaland / General / Re: What Are Your Views On Homosexuality? by blankaw: 11:04pm On Nov 19, 2009
seriously can't believe half the shit i read on this forum. let's set the record straight here:

1. gay people are people attracted to same sex. they fall in love same way as streight people do and don't differ from streight people in way their relationships are built and maintained

2. being gay is not a desease, they are born that way. the same you are born a man or a woman, white or black, you are also born gay or streight. sometimes bisexual (like both). IT IS NOT CONTAIGOUS, some people are dumn, it's like saying if you look at at michael jackson will make you turn white. comon. grow up. how ignorant can you be

3. there is no statistical evidence gay people are any more vilant or anti-social than streight people. such behaviour comes from psychological state of mind and numerous factors in persons experiance, ranging from their childhood to what they see on tv and perceive as normal.

4. thinking a gay man will want to rape you suggest to me you may be a homofoob. in many cases people who are extremely anti-gay actually have experienced being attracted to same sex person. it scared the shit out of them, for he fears what he does not now. that again has resulted in fear and hate towards peope who represent that particular feelings: openly gay people. on other hand you could be complitely messed up and paranoid. either way, check yourself.

5. for all religious preachers outhere. god made all things on earth, didn't he? and gey people were born that way = god made them. if you say ther are wrong you basically telling god he did bad. that you know can't be right. god preaches love and acceptance, you shall not judge. preach what you all say and spread the love towards all things on this plante.
