I don’t know if their appointment for pickup is working now. As at last year, after several failed attempted to schedule one, a relative went to pickup without scheduling any.

Primetouch1:
Good Morning

Pls do I have to schedule an appointment with DHL before picking up my passport? .
Got a mail that my passport is ready for pick up and I must schedule appointment before picking up

Good morning,
Do you mind clarifying what you mean by cannot access their form?

If you booked your appointment together, and you are referring to theirD160 number on the appointment download, then email support. They can correct it at the backend for you.

EMAIL: Support-nigeria@ustraveldocs.com (mailto:Support-nigeria@ustraveldocs.com) with the following information:
• Your full name
• Your date of birth
• Your passport number
• Your country of nationality
• Your visa application number/barcode number (starts with AA
)

A short description of your situation

Blessedone100:
Good evening Nairalanders.
Kindly advise me on what to do. I have submitted a ds-160 form for a family of 3. Interview has been scheduled. I noticed I filled a wrong travel date for the 3 of us on the DS-160 form. Meanwhile I can only replace the ds-160 form for only myself on my profile after filling the correct date.
Please how do I correct the travel dates of my family members who are also traveling with me? I noticed that I cannot access thier ds-160 forms. Your advise will be greatly appreciated.

Also check one year STEM
MBA. They usually have some scholarships that would be your program cost to about 40k or less. This may not include your cost of living.
ARISTOCRATDAMMY1:
Hello everyone,

I'm seeking assistance, and I've already checked Google for information. Please recommend a reputable school where the cost of an MBA is below $40,000.

Thank you!

Me too. Canada and UK do this.
Debbieeeeeee:

I co agree, retired is not the issue here and I wish they usually divulged refusal reasons at least to allow people work on their errors.
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by BlessedABee: 5:52pm On Feb 06
With US embassy, you never know why she was rejected.

- Unless this is new, my mom is retired and got her visa the first time she applied. She renewed via Dropbox last year. My aunt is retired and got her visa last year ( she has travelled multiple times to US)

If she needs a translator, please find out how she can request for one at the embassy

Ruby56:

I filled the ds 160 myself. My mum is retired and I also put she is retired but also put the places she has worked. Do you think being retired caused this?

It should be in Akure( my assumption is that the passport will be mailed to her)

If she doesn’t get it after 5 days , she can call the embassy.

Akure

I’m so sorry. Visa rejection is very pain, more painful when you have a legitimate reason.

Let her try again. May she be granted

Ruby56:

She said she was asked only 3 questions. Where she is going to, the address she is going to and if she has travelled before.. dats all.. she said almost everyone came out with blue paper. Her time was for 11am. I feel so heartbroken and my mum is even crying, I am crying too. I don’t know what else to do

Good evening. My sister visa was approved last week. And she hot a text message this morning that her passport is ready for collection. She picked akure as the location for document delivery. The issue now is that we don't know if the passport is akure or in any of the three location in Lagos

If you have less than 2 years of work experience, Saint Louis University (with scholarship)

I only mentioned the experience because most of your classmates will have the same

Thanks for this. I have a follow up question that’s similar to the initial post.

Has anyone’s parent gone for an interview in recent times? I’m looking for likely question parents can be asked during interviews.

flourishing247:

Most VO's speak a Nigerian language. There will always be an interpreter. I hope she's not going for omugwu? Most mothers that go for omugwo overstay. They don't like it. She shouldn't lie though. She should only answer yes if asked if thats what she's going for. There's nothing much, they might need her to prove the relationship between you two. Let her take some family pics in case.
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by BlessedABee: 11:28am On Jan 20
As long as you are currently enrolled & have a valid i20, you don’t need to renew your visa (if you are in the US). You only need to renew it if you step outside the US.

You can ask the international student office in your school.

MizAlero:
Good day,
Please I need information in terms of renewing my F1 via. It expires in June. Do I return to Nigeria for renewal or try neighboring countries like Canada or Dominican Republic for renewal? What can I expect if renewing from either of these two countries?

Any information will be very much appreciated. Thanks

Google “ hnd to phd us Nigeria”

There are some videos and articles about a lady who took this path. Check if she mentioned the names of the schools that offered her scholarship.

I am not sure if it is F1 or B1/B2 application, but there’s usually a question asking if someone has filed for you. It’s sometimes difficult to convince the VO that you intend to come back to Nigeria since a petition has been submitted on your behalf.

For this question, I believe it is best to ask an immigration lawyer.

quote author=mishappiness post=127988729]Hello!

Please i dont know if any one can help me here.

My mother Is a US citizen and petitioned I 130 for me in 2019, this immigrate visa take a very long number of years to become current. I have secured admission in Northeastern university for fall of 2024.
Can this I 130 petition affect my F1 visa. I'm so confused i dont know what to do now. [/quote]
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by BlessedABee: 5:16pm On Jan 19
1. Have you gotten your F1 document? This will show how much you require as a family, and possible deficit.

2. You can go for interview as a family as long as you can convince the VO on why you are going with her.

3. Most universities have financial advisor, you can request a meeting to understand payment plan. It’s university specific.

Khodry:
Please house anybody with information about UF. My wife was given Msc admission with partial scholarship of $1500 dollars per semester for 3semester for fall 2024. Can we go together and our kid and if possible how is the expenses? From what I see in the site tuition is about $13000 and other expenses accrue to about $30000 are we to pay all or some will be in block account? and the Visa processing how is it?
Please it is urgent

It took my mom about a month.
She submitted her application 3rd week in June, scheduled her passport drop off for 2nd week in July and was notified to pick up her passport a week after she dropped it off.

Hi everyone,

I want to renew my mum’s B1/B2 US visa. Her current B1/B2 visa expires soon so she qualifies for IW. I would like to know how long it takes to get an IW date after her application is submitted. Does anyone have any idea based on their own experience? Thanks!
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by BlessedABee: 1:10am On Nov 05, 2023
If you have an immediate family in the US, you would have included it in your application. If I remember correctly, it is one of the questions they ask. The person should be prepared to answer the questions truthfully.

babyfaiz:
Well, you can. From experiences of people, it can sometimes complicate things . They’ll begin to ask you questions about the person - when last you saw him, is he a citizen? How did he get is citizenship? Is he the one sponsoring you? Most importantly, they think, with you having a US citizen relation, it can make it easy for you to immigrate. It’s always good to avoid that part if you can, otherwise be ready to defend whatever questions asked about the person. Note - I make this response not as a US visa expert but drawn from personal and other people’s experiences
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by BlessedABee: 12:57am On Nov 05, 2023
Fill a new application, this is because your application submission date needs to be within 6months of your interview date.

Once you are done, go to the scheduling link and change your DS 160 number.

Hello,

I apologise for quoting this post. I can't remember how to compose a fresh post.

My daughter and I applied for a visiting visa last year and our interview date is January 2024. The problem is, the passports we used to apply have expired and we have renewed but i dont know how to update the new passport details on the application.

I would appreciate of someone can help with this.

Thank you.

Why STEM?

If it because of the 3 years OPT, then you can apply to SLU’s MBA program as the program is STEM-certified. For other STEM certified programs for International students, Google “SLU Global Grads”

What do you have on your I20? That’s what the VO will based their question on.

Pankydee:
Good evening everyone,

I used self sponsor on my school application form when I was applying together with my statement of account. Please would it be a problem if I use myself and my sponsor when applying for my visa because I didn’t add a sponsor during my school application?

Does the VO have access to the information a student submitted during their school application?

Thank you

Write to the school’s admission team to ask.

Immunity04:
Please guys I need an honest answer. My school website have been down for like a month now and my Recommenders can't even acess their institutional mail. They confirmed it has been happening and they often send with their personal email ( gmail, yahoo etc). Note, no one knows how soon this will end.

Now my question is, if they write with their personal email will it affect my chances of being admitted and being considered for funding too? Remember, they are always ready to defend when being contacted.

Hi house. The us embassy requested fir my passport a few weeks back along side some documents. Today they sent back my passport without a visa stating that they wanna do some additional administrative processing. Does anyone know what’s going on. Where do I go from here

I went through administrative processing in 2021. I was called after about a week or two to submit my passport. They will call you to inform you of their decision once they complete their “investigation”

Abegi,
Telling people that they have SLIM chances of getting approved to attend community is not discouragement. This is a statement of fact.

Since you’re a gatekeeper of records here, can you show us how many community college applicants got approved in 2022/23 vs 4-yr college applicants?

Telling people to come all the way from PH, Calabar, Enugu, Aba to Lagos and listen to a US agent tell you that you have better chances with community college is pure political correctness.

What community college is to US is what polytechnic is to Naija… and most Naija folks prefer unis over polys … and VO would prefer 4-year college applicants.

Thank you for offering hope and sounding like a motivational speaker…. but VOs are ruthlessly logical and unemotional when they approve or deny visas.

Maybe if you took time to look through those free sessions, you will realize most of them are offered virtually apart from the general information session.

How is asking if their services are free knowing too much? Most serious applicants here are on a budget.. so anything free is good.

If you have something free to offer applicants.. just do it cos nobody has it all.

So their services are not free?
See some of of their fees

To anyone reading this who may have missed my initial post and response, please refer to the screenshots provided at the end of this post.

I want to clarify that I am not affiliated with Education USA. I am simply a Nigerian sharing an opportunity that has greatly benefited me. Education USA is a part of the US embassy and offers a range of services, both paid and free (sessions). When you attend their free information session at the consulate, which takes place Monday to Friday, you will gain a better understanding of the purpose behind their membership fees and realize that not everyone qualifies for them(I did not qualify to be a member as mentioned in one of the screenshots). Their free sessions are always posted on their social media pages (I lived in Lagos so I usually follow their Lagos page, they also have for Abuja and different cities around the world).

It is acceptable to share legitimate opportunities that can help individuals fulfill their educational aspirations in the USA. However, the decision to utilize paid services should be based on individual circumstances and preferences.

Within this forum, I have observed discouragement towards changing courses from one's undergraduate studies, pursuing an associate degree in a community college, or being considered too old for a second undergraduate degree. Some of this feedback is solely based on a few individuals' experiences, which may or may not be the reason for their visa rejections. It would be beneficial to pose such questions to Education USA officers during relevant sessions, as some of these officers work alongside visa officers.

In my case, I pursued a Business Admin-related course for my undergraduate studies. Unfortunately, I faced visa disappointment when I tried to get one for an MBA program. Eventually, I obtained a visa to pursue a Master's in Social Work based on career aspiration at that time. A part of me thinks this approval was based on the V.O.’s willingness to listen to me and my unique circumstances.

Good afternoon. There are 2 people for the interview. I have updated mine as I was the one who completed the forms. How do I update the second applicant's new application number to the Appointment confirmation?

She should log into the appointment page and change the confirmation number to the new one.

Once this is done, she should email herself the interview details. This is what she will use to confirm that it has updated.
