Business / LATEST NEWS Crypto King, Sam Bankman-fried Sentenced To 25 Years In Prison by Bobp(m): 6:13pm On Mar 28 |
Crypto king, Sam Bankman-Fried sentenced to 25 years in prison. American entrepreneur and crypto king, Sam Bankman- Fried was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in prison for his role in defrauding users of the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange FTX. In a federal courtroom in lower Manhattan, United States District Judge Lewis Kaplan called the defense argument misleading, logically flawed, and speculative. Kaplan said Bankman-Fried had obstructed justice and tampered with witnesses in mounting his defense — something Kaplan said he weighed in his sentencing decision. After a two-hour hearing the judge, Lewis Kaplan, said Bankman-Fried knew what he was doing was criminal and regretted making a bad bet about the likelihood of being caught. Bankman-Fried, wearing a beige jailhouse jumpsuit, struck an apologetic tone, saying he had made a series of “selfish” decisions while leading FTX and “threw it all away.” “It haunts me every day,” he said in a statement. “There are a lot of mistakes that I made.” Bankman-Fried, however, told the court that FTX had the ability to repay customers when it collapsed. Meanwhile, the prosecutors said Bankman-Fried took more than $10bn (£7.9bn) from unsuspecting customers in “one of the biggest financial frauds” in US history. FTX was valued at $32bn before it went bankrupt in 2022 and SBF crafted a public image that drew in celebrities, politicians and business titans. Prosecutors had sought as much as 50 years, while Bankman-Fried’s legal team argued for no more than six and half years. He was convicted on seven criminal counts in November and has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since. |

THE SCHOOL GHOST
Episode 4
Written by Bobp the writer
St Anthony high school buzzed
with pandemonium screams.
Teachers sprinted, their
footsteps echoing like a
desperate symphony.
Amaka lay motionless on the cold
floor, her skin mottled with
ven0mous bites.
The ambulance wailed outside, its
urgency a stark contrast to the
eerie silence that enveloped the
classroom.
As the paramedics rushed in, they
expected to find the snake the
girls had described to the school
authority.
The dreadful creature, but there
was no serpent. Only the
aftermath of its cruelty etched
into Amaka's flesh.
Richards bag was back to his
seating position, appearing
untouched, it's almost as if the
bag had teleported itself back to
Richards desk.
Esther and adanna exchanged
puzzled glances at each other.
Mrs. Alice, her face ashen, knelt
beside Amaka along with other
teachers. "How can this be?" she
whispered. "Where is the snake?"
The other teachers gathered,
their disbelief palpable.
They had scoured every nook,
every crevice of the school. Yet,
no serpent had revealed itself.
The bites defied logic an invisible
assailant, a phantom predator.
The nearly deceased friend,
Esther and adanna stood at the
threshold, along with other
students.
It was such a terrible view, such
sight could make the strongest
man's heart to melt .
Esther was boiling in anger, her
eyes were wide, her grief raw.
"He must have known we were
trying to frame him" Esther
whispered into adanna's ears
with the anticipation of mild sobs.
Richard sat in the corner, his gaze
fixed on the dy!ng amaka.
He took his bag during the scene,
then crossed it over his chest,
nothing seems to harm him.
Esther sprinted to meet richard,
her voice ablazed. "You killed
her," she accused, her words
slicing through the air. "You
summoned that snake."
Richard's eyes widened. "What
are you talking about?".
"You're ev!l " Esther voice
cracked.
"You've always been different,
because of you my best friend is
dead."
The classroom seemed to hold its
breath. Students peeked through
the door, their faces pale.
They had witnessed the tragedy
of Amaka bitten by an unseen
menace, the teachers were
confused seeing Esther accusing
richard of being a wizard.
"He must have summon the
snake " Esther sobs along with
adanna.
The students argument was
interrupted by the rescue team,
raising Mrs Alice's cell phone from
above the air.
Mrs Alice widening her
countenance.
"how did my cell phone gets
transported itself to amaka's
pockets? unbelievable".
During the tumult, Richards eyes
glowed an otherworldly
luminescence aimed at Esther.
The strange lights from his eyes
consumed her irises, Esther
staggered, her vision begins to
fade.
Darkness crept from the edges,
devouring her sight.
"What's happening?" Esther's
voice tremble.
The teachers watched, witnessed
a supernatural phenomenon
reckoning on Esther's sight.

THE SCHOOL GHOST Episode 3 Written by Bobp the writer Amaka was always been the nimble one, when it comes to pickpocket and bullying. After their discussion, she took her biology note as a disguise for her scheme. She sneaked through the staff room unnoticed, her heart began to beat faster than the average human, thinking it would burst. Mrs alice bag lay on her table unguarded, scanning the entire room hoping no one was passing. She tucked and dip her hands into Mrs Alice bag, then grasp her phone sleightly. After Amaka had successfully taken Mrs Alice's phone she felt a rush of adrenaline. Concealing it in between her note book, then went back to her friends. Adanna persisted strongly, stating it was a bad idea, but amaka fired back After all she wasn't selected to do the job, because she has already volunteered to do it for Esther. After esther had described richard's bag feature to her. Amaka tiptoed to the science class, she glanced around, ensuring no prying eyes watched her. The phone would be her leverage. Her ticket to tarnish richards reputation for making Mrs Alice flog her best friend for nothing. "I will make sure you leave this school with disgrace". amaka said scornfully while soliloquizing. On getting to Richards sit, she opened his bag, ready to frame him, not knowing what fate had install for her. As she reached for the zipper of Richard's bag, something sharp pierced her finger. Pain shot up her arm, and she yanked her hand back. Confusion clouded her mind. Why would the zip sting like that? It was just a bag nothing more. Curiosity gnawed at her. She couldn't resist. Amaka raised the bag, and her breath caught in her throat. Coiled within, like a sinister secret waiting to be revealed, rised a brown serpent. Its scales shimmered in the dark area of Richards bag, and its eyes fixed on amaka, like a predator assessing its prey. Before she could react, the snake str!ke her wrist, F@ngs sank into her hand ven0m searing through her veins. Amaka's cry echoed through the corridors, bouncing off the cold walls. Panic surged, and she stumbled backward, knocking over a chair. The snake released her, slithering back into the depths of the bag. Esther and Adanna who were looking out for her at the exit burst into the classroom. Their faces masks of horror. "What happened?" Adanna demanded, her eyes wide. Amaka's vision blurred. The pain intensified, and her hand throbbed. "Sn@ke," she managed to gasp. trying to reveal the dreadful content from richards bag. Fear gripped both girls instantly. they backed away, their gaze fixed on the bag. Instead of helping Amaka from the hands of danger itself, they both flee. Adanna bolted for the exit, and Esther followed, slamming the classroom door shut behind her. Amaka was left alone, her fate sealed by the serpent's ven0m, as it keeps feasting on her flësh. THE SCHOOL GHOST
Episode 2
Written by Bobp the writer The Midday break approached, leaving the schoolyard abuzz with boisterous activity. Boys kicked soccer balls, opposing their opponents with Swift pace, their laughter echoed against the gigantic school building. Girls huddled in clusters, sharing secrets and gossip. And then there was Esther, her fury ticked like a time bomb who's about to explode at any moment. She approached her best friends at the adjacent class, Amaka and Adanna, both equally intrigued by her distress. Amaka with her mischievous grin, was always ready for a scheme. Adanna, the quiet observer, had a way of seeing through the chaos to the heart of the matter. "I need your help, girls," Esther said, her voice low and seething. Amaka leaned in, her eyes gleaming. "Who made our babe angry?" Adanna raised an eyebrow. "Frowning your face won't help, babe, What's the matter?" Esther's lips curled. "There's this new guy in my class 'richard'. I got beaten by Mrs Alice during lesson periods, just because of him. He's faking the best student so that mrs Alice can like him...... And his eyes, I don't know how he do that.....he kind of control her to flog me....". "But Mrs Alice decided to beat you herself, it's not this Richards fault nah...?" Adanna cut in unannounced. Amaka interrupted, her tone indignant. "That's unacceptable, no one treat our bestie anyhow, we need to teach him a lesson babe." "You love revenge," Adanna murmured, her gaze steady. "This isn't about revenge, it's about making things right". Amaka fired back at adanna with a smirk on her face, amaka's wicked plan took shape. "Let's frame Richard," Amaka whispered. "Mrs. Alice won't like him so much when she thinks he's a thief." Esther's eyes widened. "How?" Amaka grin widened. "I'll steal Mrs. Alice's mobile phone while submitting my assignment. Then, before break ends, I'll plant it inside Richard's bag. Let's see how she defends him then." Esther hesitated. "But isn't that too much? I don't want him to get arrested just because of my anger for him, besides I was the one bullying him." Adanna's calm voice cut through the tension. "Esther, revenge won't heal your pride, better don't listen to this messenger of the devil, that's really dangerous. Richard may be new, that's because he hasn't blend, Let it pass." Amaka scoffed. "Adanna, you're too soft. don't come here and infect us with your cry baby heart." Esther weighed her options. The fire of anger still burned, but Adanna's words tugged at her conscience. Was revenge worth sacrificing Richard's innocence? "Well, I will take the lead to frame him, because that's what Best friend do, you mess with one of us, you mess with all of us". As the girls debated, the school bell chimed again, apprising the end of midbreak. TBC....

EPISODE 1 Writen by Bobp The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows across the schoolyard of St. Anthony high school. Richard, the new boy, stood near the entrance, his school bag slung over one shoulder. His eyes darted nervously as he surveyed pass the unfamiliar faces. The other students chattered excitedly, their curiosity piqued by the arrival of a stranger. Mrs. Alice, the biology teacher, was in the middle of explaining the intricacies of photosynthesis when the door creaked open. The principal, Mr. Thompson, stepped inside, his stern expression softened by a hint of pride. He cleared his throat, capturing the attention of the entire class. "Good morning, everyone," Mr. Thompson said, his voice echoing off the walls. "We have a new student joining us today. Richard, would you like to introduce yourself?". Richard shuffled forward, his cheeks flushed. "Uh, hi," he stammered. "I'm Richard. The students exchanged glances, Richard's accent was different, his clothes slightly worn out. But there was something about the way he held himself a quiet determination that intrigued them. Mrs. Alice smiled warmly. "Welcome, Richard. We're glad to have you. Please find an empty seat." As Richard settled into the back row, the classroom vibrated with giggles and mild laughters, writing by remi the writer Before Mrs Alice could ask the reason for their silly laughs, the bully, esther, leaned across the aisle. She hissed, her hisses were as loud as the morning bell. "Hey, Richard," she drawled. "Did you win a scholarship". The whole class resumes the laughter, due to Esther's question. Richard pretended not to answer, But Esther had cut through the façade, exposing his vulnerability. Mrs. Alice stepped forward, her gaze was icy. "Esther," she said sharply. "Enough," she said, her voice slicing through the giggles of the students. "I won't tolerate.......". But she never finished. Richard's eyes beamed an outworldly phosphorescent White glow that made Mrs alice stop talking. She blinked, wondering if she'd accidentally ingested a fairy dust during breakfast, Mrs. Alice felt a strange compulsion, a sudden urge to pick up her cane on her desk. She could here Richards voice in a state of trance, "Teach her a lesson." echoed through her eardrums. Mrs. Alice hesitated. She'd never been one for corporal punishment. But something primal stirred within her. She raised the cane then hit Esther. The cane perfectly coiffed Esther's head. The class gasped in shock, Esther's rude facade crumbled. Her mischievous laughs d!ed abruptly. The other students exchanged bewildered glances when they saw the wide glow on Richard's eyes. Each student whispered to each other "What just happened? they asked, glaring at the unlikely scenario. As Richard settled back into his seat, the rest of the students stole secret glances at him in the state of dilemma. "Who was he? Why did his gaze hold such power? almost as if he had instructed Mrs Alice to do so?....

THE JESUS SLAY QUEENS Episode 1 THE JESUS SLAY QUEENS Episode 1 © Ayo Omolayo "Juliet! Juliet!" Ella called. I quickly covered my phone with a pillow and jumped into a sitting position as the door opened. "Where have you been? She asked sticking her head through the door. "I thought we were waiting for Susan!" I said in defence. "Come on Juliet! You know very well that if you want to wait for Susan to finish praying, you would wait all day!" "Susan is such a praying machine! I envy her prayer life ooo!" I said smiling. "Dear! You can envy it when we get back. Let's be going jare! We have lost so much time". "Can't we wait a little bit more for Susan? I want the 3 of us to go! I'm tired of the 2 of us going by ourselves". The truth is, she was a great companion. But I had completely lost interest in going out to win souls. I knew it was time to go out for evangelism, but I wasn't willing to go anymore. Should I say I had completely lost interest or what? I don't know the right word that fits my unwillingness to go with them anymore. I wasn't a member of this house at all. Dad sent me to live here after I told him what happened to me. My parents were divorced and mum left me with dad and moved on with the man of her dreams. I'll never forgive her for that. She left me with dad was not the issue. She left me for good was the issue. I mean, I have heard stories of divorced parents who still had time to visit their kids and take them out once in a while. I expected my experience to be like that, but mum disappeared for good. No brake light is the right word. Dad was a sales representative for one of the biggest electronics company in Nigeria and that meant he had to travel alot. That was what I hated the most. I hated it when my dad had to leave me. I loved being alone, but he never wanted it that way. He had to hand me to a neighbour or a friend. I enjoyed my loneliness as it became an occasion for me to do whatever I wanted. But dad was sorely against it. I was tossed from one neighbour to another to look after. Different neighbours. At a point, I was angry with it and started showing my neighbours I was a bad girl. I got what I wanted. One after the other, neighbours started rejecting to look after me whenever my dad asked them to do so. I was tired of being handed over to one neighbour to look after. I wanted a family. I wanted a Dad and a mum. Was that too much for a 16 year old girl to ask for? When we were running out of neighbours, Dad decided to send me to live with his sister. I shouted and screamed at him that I wasn't going anywhere. I cursed and fought my way out of it, but parents always have the upper hand. He succeeded in sending me to my aunt. But I succeeded in what I knew how to do best. I was the baddest girl in the world. My aunt's husband could not put up with my attitude. He ordered me out of the house and my dad was forced to come and get me. That was when Mummy Toyin came to our area for a youth conference. All my friends were going because we all knew her as one of the most popular female minister in Nigeria. Meeting her live was like getting a PhD. Most of my friends who were privileged to attend meetings were Apostle Selman or Apostle Orokpo ministered, won't allow us to rest. |
